Curtisaxel7: A gladiator (literally defined) is a fighter who engages in competitions and duels in the hope of winning prizes. The sole aim of a gladiator is to win laurels for HIMSELF. A gladiator doesn't care about the good of the society nor does he make any sacrifices towards it. Selfish interest alone motivates him. Bola Tinubu falls clearly into this category. All his actions and political activities are geared towards his personal aggrandizement and accumulation of political clout. Tinubu is no Father Christmas. He never gives, he only invests for profit.
Chief Icon4s on the other hand, is a selfless and passionate crusader for the betterment of Nigerian football. He singlehandedly organizes and most importantly, bankrolls the entire awards programme. Nobody pays Icon4s for this. This is a faceless forum, so nobody can say he is doing it to show off. He does it because he wants to. Because he genuinely loves our football.
Can Tinubu undertake to pay the salary of government workers in his state from his pocket(Without drawing any media attention)?. Can he use his money to repair the potholes on the streets of Lagos which he reportedly "owns"?. Can he build clinics to treat poor Nigerians?. No he won't. Because he is only a gladiator. Because he has zero passion for Nigeria. Because he cares for nothing but his pocket.
Can you see the difference now?. Is that what your University taught you about gladiator level of politics? Abi na you know know am? Ah! Mogbe! |

Curtisaxel7: Of course politics was at play. Wherever and whenever elections are used to pick representatives, politics is at play.
But you still haven't shown us the similarity between Tinubu and Icon4s. You made the comparison. He who alleges must prove. Thank you very much. Tinubu is a gladiator in Nigerian politics. I don't need to explain this to you. The same way Icons4 is the sole gladiator in the politics played in the that election. I don't need to explain this to you too. Curtisaxel7: Please don't derail the argument. Your initial supposition was that if we can give Chief Icon4s an automatic committee position due to his standing and reputation, Nigeria may as well automatically award Tinubu the presidency, for the same reasons. My counter argument is that Tinubu is not to Nigeria what Icon is to this awards programme.
Prove me wrong As long as politics was at play in that award program, it is. Prove me wrong politics was not at play in that process. |

Drawing a comparison between Tinubu's role in Nigeria and Icon4s' role in the Nairaland Nigerian football awards is just stupid. While the former is a leader of a political faction, the latter is a sole visioner, organizer and sponsor. There is no comparison. And you don't know what politics is all about? |

safarigirl: LOL.
22 people voted for him out of 62 votes
Tbaba raked in 16 votes out of the same 62 votes.
Tbaba is the most voted person on that list, yet icon4s garnered higher votes than the person with the highest votes.
By virtue of beating the highest votes by 6 votes, he has attained a majority votes.
Forgiveness, you're not that slick.
You seem to not understand that rules are subject to change. Nothing is ever set in stone, and even laws can be amended by the will of a majority. Also, committees can have an APPOINTED Chairman, who was never part of the ELECTION.
Anybody that has issues with icon4s being in that committee, should feel free to remove themselves from it and remove their votes too. Where did you learn this type of politics or democratic process from? Maybe in sambisa forest. Rules are subject to change but there are procedures needed to be followed before they are altered. Is that a lie? Who are the majority? How do we determine the majority? Let me help you. Majority in political parlance means achieving more than 50% of valid votes. Since 62 valid votes were casted, 32 valid votes were needed to attain the majority status in political parlance of majority system of voting hence 16 can't be accepted as majority in this case. Do you now understand? |

TheGoodJoe: Story.
This is something driven mainly by him. The voting was to choose people based on popularity of those who people feel can serve the committee.
Chief Oga Icon4s does not need votes to show he merits to be on the committee and even head it because no one believes in the course like him. No one sees the dream, vision and mission as him.
The committee needs his passion to keep it alive because it is him.
The right and best choice always wins. The five founding fathers of America subjected themselves to democratic process despite been the political gladiators as at that time. Today, we have a prosperous and wealthy nation as a result of that. Maybe you are ignorant about that simple fact. Go and read small politics before you come here. |

TheGoodJoe: Let us cut the long story short. The only reason this thing is seeing the light of day is because of the vision of Oga Boss Icon4s. With that, his automatic inclusion is a must and a disservice to the whole process without him.
No logic justifies his exclusion.
I stand with TheSuperNerd on this.
Finito. That's why this country is full of illegally and thieves. My friend, I was also in the position of Icon4 but I gave way when democratic process was involved. This is not even a moimoi thing like this. So, make we here word. If you want to force him in, no wahala but let him get 32 votes then we can both agree. |
