I rate a player from the consistency of his club football first, all things being equal.

Kelechi Nwakali a forward player has played near 40 games in the Eredivisie the easiest league to score goals in the top 20 leagues of Europe and scored 3 goals. No sentiment attached he simply not good enough for the SE.

In addition there are far too many better players ahead of him.
What else can I say more? The bolded is spot on but people are trying hard to change the goal post.

At least as a mieldfielder he played 9 games and scored 1 goal, but your brother kayode who is a striker played 12 games for girona and scored 0 goals,I am yet to see when you will call him a flop.
Did Kelechi Nwakali flop or not? grin

How come with his 9 games and 1 goal, he was demoted to a lower division 2?

At least, the flopped Kayode made the la Liga team of the week with the likes of Messi and co, and later moved to a bigger club where he made the player of the month in a team Taison and Fred going to the world Cup plays. grin

At least, that flop is better. grin

K.Nwakali didn't flop. He did good for a midfielder who came in as a LW in his first eredivisie game and scored with a fine header. He went on to feature in nine games where he got gamt time here and there mostly from the bench. His highest minutes tally in a single game was 67 mins. How is he a flop then?

He had one goal in 9 games in the league in which he featured for 15mins, 15 Mins, 14mins, 61mins, 16mins, 4mins, 45mins, 59mins and 67 mins all respectively in which he played AM, CM, LW, RW. So how in the world did he flop? Abeg Egbon... Be honest naa... Haba naa.

In the Cup games, he played 90mins once as AM and shone in a 3-0 win. His next cup game he played 88mins bagging am assist. His next and last was just for 7mins as RW.

When he was loaned again to MVV, after the first half of the season, it was for more playing time opportunities as he was not getting enough with VVV Venlo. And guess what? He showed his class by coming up with 4 goals and 1 assist in 16 appearances as AM majorly. He was involved in lots of second assists (passes that lead to assists or what we call the assist before the assist). I took myvtime to watch his game on couple of occasions Egbon.

Kelechi is class. He will still grow and in him, I feel we have another true heir to Mikel's throne.

In all, he is not WC bound... He will keep growing. But it is certain that his quality has justified why Rohr had him and Osimhen in the picture of things for a while when he was asked last year about blooding in of youngsters for the future.

Rohr saw that game between Nigeria B and Atletico. Immediately after K.Nwakali scored, the camera showed Rohr's immediate reaction.. It was that of approval and a knowing that indeed the lad is class and one for the future of the team.

Kelechi's time is coming... His rise has been steady and he has not flopped. Let us please have perspective here.

For Russia 2018, I'm afraid the door is already closed. I should be first to clamour for his invite now but I won't. I believe in the right time. Sometimes the right time is not always now.

We have our WC midfield already but it is nice to see a small beautiful part of what lies ahead for the Super Eagles Post-Russia.
Well, if he was spectacular in the few times he played, why was he demoted back to a lower division he came from?

I believe he was sent from the lower division of the Eredivise to the Eredivise because he could desposed some low players to make the starting eleven but how come he couldn't do that?

What is the name of the player in that team that made him difficult to play and be bench? How good is that player?

With all due respect the guy no get love for any player wey no b yoruba,he will not call a seyi ojo a flop but he is quick to call nwakali a flop

Nwakali started well at vvv venlo, with only 9 games and 1 goal for a MD then the coach stopped playing now you are calling him flop.

He is still a young guy growing,i am not surprised you are quick to call him flop because he is not yoruba, everybody know you in this thread and most people are tired of your antics.

Are you not still the same person that once called for a seyi ojo to be invited just because he is from liverpool academy and he is yoruba,i am glad you are not the coach, your analysis are FAILURES,If you are a football coach you will not even make it in the Nigeria premier league, because of your antics,I know you are still crying like a sheep that kayode is not invited to the national team, what about your ajagun,OGA FORGIVENESS ABEG REST.
Really! Kelechi Nwakali didn't flop!?

Can you please tell me why he was not played and why his performance at first didn't get him a decent club in the same Eredivisie before he was demoted to a division lower where he didn't have an exceptional games based on this thread standard?

Thank you.

Leg breaking and bullying of opposition players were their trade marks grin
What do one expect from someone who doesn't see any good things coming from players not familiar to him?

Someone who called a 17 years old flop but suddenly turned around to remind us about the age of a player in his defence. How come?

Why we failed at the 2002 WC.

3. Parading too many inexperienced players plus some players only took part in one or two friendlies. Batholomew Ogbeche, Femi Opabunmi, Justice Christopher, Efe Sodje. They were not tested but were trusted and lo they failed us.
What happened to their careers after that World cup?
Lesson, every player that will make the next world cup squad be tested and trusted.

Lol.... with these yard stick of yours.... someone like shehu would not have got a look in.likewise Sunday mba of afcon 2013

some times there exist exceptions to these rules...
for now nwakali deserve train with the main super eagles.... play same way against Congo...he should be drafted into the 23 man list....

all I want is the good of the super eagles and nothing else...
Shehu Abdullahi is a mediocre player. He's is never the best RB we have.

Where is Sunday Mba today? Late Stephen Keshi played oligarchy system to the extreme to the extent the best players in Europe where left to fade away.

He thought he could raise most of those players to world standard. Can you please show me one player Keshi turned to world class not to talk of average players?

Kelechi Nwakali flopped in the Eredivise and did not blow away minds with MOTM, TOTW or player of the month even after he was demoted to the lower division, did he?

How are sure the ones that MOTM, TOTW etc in a better league could have done better than Kelechi Nwakali yesterday if given the chance?

Did Kelechi Nwakali did something exceptional to had deserved an invitation in the first place?

Where you among those who justified the invitation of Simy siting performance in a better league?

So, exceptional rules is used for certain types of players while performance in a top league is the bascis standard measurement used for certain types of players in a country like ours!?

If you are for the good of the Super Eagles then you should have realised that many clubs will no longer be interested in Nigerian players once they discovered that they can't get into the National team no matter how good they are because they want players that good enough and marketable for profit.

You don't expect dem to buy mediocre players.

This Oligarchy structure of inviting certain players from a lowly leagues and bench warmers association has been trending for many years now

Like I said, with this two faced double standard measurement used, I don't think there shall be peace in this country.

who agreed with you that only the best players playing in big leagues should go to the world cup?

world cup are not for players in big leagues.....but players with the heart of a lion
Do you mean players with the heart of a Lion are found in lowly second division leagues?

If Kelechi Nwakali is a player with a Lion's heart, how come he flopped in the Eredivise and got demoted to the lower division where he didn't show sign of one with Lion's heart?

Is there any sense in what you are saying?

Well, it is the normal Nigerian two faced double standard mentality that brought us here.

It began the first time we experienced coup in this country and it's still d same till date.

There shall be no peace with this kind of sense you are playing.

that shouldn't stop him from going to the world cup if he merits it....
I remember James was just in his early twenties in the last world cup where he shines for Colombia... same with sterling he played all the 3 lions matches and now I believe that experience will come handy in these year world cup....
same mistake keshi made for not taking kelechi to last world cup...
so please I will rather take nwakali to any of agbo, agu and even ogu.
How can Kelechi Nwakali merit going to the world Cup?

I thought we have agreed that the best have been selected from the top leagues in Europe?

Did Nwakali play in one of the top leagues in Europe?

Didn't he flopped in the Eredivise in the first half of last season before he was demoted to second division?

Was he even spectacular in the second division of Eredivise where he played in the second half of the season?

Was he the best Nigerian player in his role in a top league in Europe last season?

How can you set a standard in the morning and break it at will in the evening?

Or is the standard applicable to some players and not to some players hence the bending of rules for some particular players?

How can we tell if our best player in Europe would have performed better than Nwakali tonight if invited?

Hahahahahaha! People can deceive themselves ooooooo. grin

Nigerian Can Only Beat Croatia With Counter Attack – Coach

Tomislav Obradovic, the coach of Croatia national team, has revealed that the only way the Super Eagles could defeat his team when both sides meet at the 2018 World Cup in Russia would be through counter attacks, boasting that there is no way Nigeria could overcome them.

Both Nigeria and Croatia will go head-to-head at the Kaliningrad Stadium, Kaliningrad on June 16, 2018 and the coach is optimistic that they would see off Nigeria, saying that in the Super Eagles, there are several players in the team with the same characteristics.

Obradovic was coach of the Rwandan U-20 National Team for two and a half years, and he almost qualified the country for the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Asked to compare Nigeria’s offensive players Iwobi and Chelsea’s Victor Moses, Obradovic told Sportske Novosti: “Compare all of them with their characteristics? Everyone is similar and quick, good within a group. But where are the world-class players?

“It’s probably quite enough, but as a team I do not think they have world-class quality. Why do I say that? They have too many players with the same characteristics.

“They cannot beat Croatia. Not in one segment of the game. Neither technical, tactical, nor organisational, nor in any sense.”

Tomislav Obradovic warned the Croatian team that Nigeria’s counter attack could be dangerous because they have fast players.
“The only way they can outsmart us is if they threaten us from the counterattack because they have such players, quick, fast.
“We have to hold the ball, wait and play our organised football because we are better, disciplined, stronger on the ball, better one on one,” Obradovic boasted.

I know many will be satisfied with the display of these lads and will justify their inclusion but I am not carried away because we were beaten at our own backyard even though we could have won if selection were based on merit and not by a oligarchy structure designed to favour man no man players.

If these players that struggled for game time in lowly clubs or leagues this season were able to play small, how would the game go if the best players this past season are given the chance to prove themselves?

We could have won this game...

This is why there can never be peace in this country if justice and equity is not strictly the messurement for decision making.

If this is not mockery, how come you conspicuously left out Onyekuru, Sadiq, Dessers

To perfect your act of debasement, you delibrately included Onomah and Iorfa who have not been cleared by FIFA, and even went ahead to decietfully smuggle Onomah on the list as a LW when the world knows he is a natural AMF. Adeleye wey never play more than 2 games for the past 3 years even dey list. Abassmbong!

Looking at the list,, your target is obvious else you would have included this thread favourites. Onyekuru, Samuel Kalu, Sadiq, Dessers, Ohis Felix Uduokhai, Akpoguma, Okoye and Nwakali.

Are these not the players that made a lot of noise here for?
