TheSuperNerd: The price Newcastle wanted to pay was never truly revealed becos Kayode was in Englamd for final talks which never happened again. Simple. No thanks to Man City's interference. But Newcastle and Benitez were confident of landing Kayode before that twist....
I really don't have time now to begin digging up archives of reports of the happenings leading up to Kayode's potential Newcastle move and layer hijack by City... But look at this...
Newcastle are reportedly favourites to sign Austria Wien attacker Olanrewaju Kayode this summer after he smashed his way to the top of the Austrian Bundesliga goalscoring charts last season.
African outlet Score Nigeria claimed sources have revealed that the 24-year-old is expected to sign with the Toon within the next few days, with only a work permit likely to be the only stumbling block.
However, those behind the deal are said to be confident that Kayode’s work permit will go through successfully and the three-time Nigeria international will be a Newcastle player before the end of the window.
https://thisisfutbol.com/2017/08/blogs/transfer-talk-newcastle-favourites-to-land-kayode/
Newcastle badly needed Kayode and were willing to negotiate a price that will make his work permit case valid and good....
Now here is a site to show you something on Prices/transfers of players affecting work permits...
The appeals process is a points based system under which the panel will award points depending on the circumstances of the transfer. If a player scores four points or more, the panel may recommend that the application is granted. Nonetheless, the panel can still reject the application even if four or more points are scored.
Criteria: The value of the transfer fee being paid for the player is in the top 25% of all transfers to Premier League clubs in the previous 2 windows
Point: 3 points
Criteria: The value of the transfer fee being paid for the player is between the 50th and 75th % of all transfers to Premier League clubs in the previous 2 windows Point: 2 points
Criteria: The wages being paid to the player by the applicant club is in the top 25% of the top 30 earners at the club Point: 3 points
Criteria: The wages being paid to the player by the applicant club are between the 50th and 75th % of all the top 30 earners at the club Points: 2 points
Criteria: The player’s current club is in a Top League[3] and the player has played in 30% or more of the available domestic league minutes Points: 1 point
Criteria: The player’s current club has played in the group stages or onwards of the Champions League, Europa League or the Copa Libertadores within the last 12 months and the player has played in 30% or more of the available domestic league minutes Point: 1 point
If the player does not meet the above points based system review, there is a secondary examination under which if the player scores 5 points or more, the panel may recommend that an application is granted. Points can be scored if, for example, the player has played in the final qualification rounds of the Champions League, Europa League or the Copa Libertadores within the last 12 months and the player has played in 30% or more of the available domestic league minutes. The review at this stage is more flexible meaning that the panel can take into account the circumstances if no transfer fee is payable (perhaps because the player has reached the end of his contract) or if the player satisfies some but not all of the automatic criteria.

Based on all these... Kayode was surely in with a good chance of landing a work permit had the Newcastle deal been carried out to fruition. He took the "greedy" route of "Big club" lure....
By greed I obviously mean the pride of being associated with a big club... Man city didn't offer more... They just offered prestige which Kayode craved. Can you please highlight the criteria he met to get 5 points that qualified him for a work permit based on the criteria up there? Thanks |

TheSuperNerd: Nope not after the arsenal game naa... Didn't you see where I said we should not address just the first 10 games alone...?
But in that first half of the season, Nacho missed 12 straight games between October 21st and January 20th by either being on the bench or not making the squad altogether. Puel was in now or later along the line and Nacho's physical conditioning was still not up to par before January even.
Nacho didn't have a preseason and suffered a toe injury in Leicester's final preseason game (or last but one preseason game coz I know they played Wolves too) that limited his influence/performamces on field for weeks going into a few months... He never got 90mins or even 80 mins again after that Arsenal game... Does this not mean or signify anything to you? Is it Kayode that had preseason or is it Kayode that didn't have injury and missed 5 straight matches from October to December? In January he was already out because he demanded for transfer. How come you are not using that same excuse to judge Kayode? Pls, note that before both had injuries Kayode was better during those moments. That is the koko. |

TheSuperNerd: So Newcastle were gonna kill themselves for a player that will not feature in the EPL abi? Lol... I followed the kayode to Newcastle saga... Bemitez badly wanted his man. Kayode was that man. They were ready to do whatever possible to sign him and in fact kayode was already in England to seal the deal.... But the greed of "I am in a big club" made him mess up the deal.... Newcastle offered more. New outlets did say that work permit was a concern at first but Newcastle were very confident of a deal that will secure work permit for Kayode... It is all there on the internet.
Newcastle being that confident shows that they were willing to cough out more than 3.5 million for him. Kayode was Austrian league's MVP for Goodness sake! They knew the cards they had to play to get him that work permit. Transfer fee and pay package is also a major determinant in determine if a deal is qualified for a work permit apart from a player's international caps (He has three at the time I think).
SO your sources only showed Man City paid less and not having this permit was obvious because the transfer price was even too low for Kayode. Thus he could be farmed out... And did he meet a brick wall in Spain? Nope... He just walked right in. No hitches and began playing his football.
The fact remains that you celebrated Kayode's move so much that you even said that it meant he was better than Iheanacho because Man City under Pep sold him but went on to buy Kayode..... When people reminded you that Pep and Man City inserted a buy back clause, you didn't care to listen to that Angle... All you care about was that Kayode was now at a BIGGER CLUB, Man City, than Nacho was which is Leicester... It was so funny and really again showed your personal attachment to this kayode cause.
It is not bad to like a player. In fact it is okay really... But don't let your likeness for that player make you see others in realy bad light because you want me to even lie that Nacho and Musa had a bad first half of the sesosn than Kayode... Kayode got his chances and was not even performing compared to the little Nacho got and the chances Musa never even got.
Fast forward now... We can see NLS who the better among them all are... And this is part of why Kayode is not on the list to Russia. It is unfortunate for him but he should not sulk for long... He should keep his head up and keep working because Shahktar may even sign permanently and he gets to ppkay UCL football. At least, I am gving you facts to debunk your opinion. Can you pls tell me what will qualify Kayode for a work permit if the reliable source is not correct? Prove it with facts with a reliable source. While you are it, KAYODE WAS NOT QUALIFIED FOR WORK PERMIT BASED ON THAT RELIABLE SOURCE. Except you want to tell me Newcastle was ready to pay hefty price than Man City for him. This one to must be confirmed by a reliable source. It is nolonger greed, na big big club!? |

TheSuperNerd: I have already addressed the first half of the season as regards Nacho, Musa and Kayode. Kayode had far more minutes than them both and didn't perform. So how can they bebsaid to be poorer than Kayode in that first half of the season? Second time I am saying almost exactly these words.....
Where is the fitness that had his game time run at topsy turvy levels after thst Arsenal game even to the extent he missed 12 straight games? Nacho never got the run of games he deserved and his fitness, physical conditioning (no thanks to lack of preseason) and settling in all played an interwoven part. His second half of the season even improved with him featuring a bit more after his fitness issues were over which was what I predicted correctly in January after Slimani and Ulloa each moved.
Shakespeare kept mentioning updates about Nacho's physical conditioning and his fitness because he never had a pre-season and also picked up a toe injury in his only pre season game even... He had a niggling relapse of same toe injury in that Arsenal game. Shakespeare admitted that he was just trying to get Nacho up to speed because his toe injury was still a worry but he also had to give Nacho a fee mins Here and there to help with his conditioning due to lack of preseason on Nacho's part.
How you can so blatantly lie to yourself and choose to ignore whole facts about these beats me. But it is fine shaa. It is okay.
This is the truth behind Nacho's first half of the season... No excuses. Just the honest truth. And you wamt me to bring myself and tell a lie that he had a poorer first half sesosn than Kayode?? Holy smokes... Just cannot and won't happen. Kayode had far more mins and blew it... He was that poor. No injury factor even... He just couldn't perform in LA liga. Live with it. Are you saying he missed 12 straight games after the Arsenal match? Can you pls show me the lists of those matches? Pls, show me facts and I will believe you my good friend. That's all |

So you refuse to look at the 12 game period for which Nacho was never featured abi? Looolll... You come limit am to just first 10 games... You and I Know that if Kayode had played one game for City, you will be using that as yardstick as well... Dont lie Egbon... We have played this kinda ping pong before so we know each other
Kayode had more chances to feature in the first half of the LA liga season compared to Nacho and Musa in the first half of the EPL season... Kayode had more minutes than both of them all before January even. #Fact.
Musa was not rated by Shakespeare and Nacho had to battle with a toe injury which limited greatly his integration into the Leicester team. First of all, your statement that Kayode's season in the first half at Girona-fc was poor, right? Agreed Now, do you also agree that Iheanacho and Musa's first half season were poorer than Kayode's first half of the season in the la Liga? I can also make excuses for Kayode. |

Martz101: This is the problem with Nigerians, Nigeria is done with Ambrose, ambrose is as old as Echiejile even at his best he was never good enough to be trusted in CB position
If we should be having players in the reserve team, it should be younger players and not dead logs That's the major problem with Nigerians. You discard your best performing players just in the name of old age and rebuilding. Which nation does that because of age? You don't even know what you are saying. |

lexyman: what about the quality of the league ? There are some factors used to rate a player. One of them is the quality of the league and the other is the quality of the team/club. Going by the quality of the team, I don't think Shakhtar Donetsk is a weakling compared to those clubs involved neither is is it a weakling to any of the top 5 in those major clubs. In short, Shahktar Donetsk and the second best club in Ukraine will dominate the Russian league. Fact. |

zuchyblink: To Oga Forgiveness :Ukrainian league of all places. Oga no matter how you try to paint Kayode as Lionel Messi he remains a poor player. He has not proved himself. Kayode is a flash in the pan I know why he is a poor player to you and I already know it has nothing to do with football reasoning. The future will tell. You are not God. |

Truidstar: The simple truth is that Kayode goofed big time. Either because of greed, bad advice from his agents or some other factors. You don't leave a club where you are banging in goals week in week out for fools gold in Man City with less than a year to the world cup. If he had remained at Austria Wein and maintained the same form, Rohr would have found it difficult to ignore him. Better to be a big fish in a small pond than a small fish in a big pond. This is a valuable lesson for Kayode and others. Why didn't you tell Sadio Mane and Gaby Keita to remain in Austria? Do you pray to be stagnate or progress? |

TheSuperNerd: Egbon... if we go by "negative what IFs" all the time... we won't also be able to walk out our doors every morning because we would be asking "What if the sun turns extremely and dangerously supernova tomorrow thereby threatening our very existence?"
All these instances you raise are okay but dwelling on them like you expect them to happen is not healthy. It is almost as if you want it to happen so that your point can be driven home... but I have to tell you to please chill aiit. Our players will be fit for the mundial... all of them. The signs are good so far and hopefully it stays that way. The season is over. It is just the FA Cup final involving Moses and then the friendlies... chikena. Ants are considered wise because they prepare against tomorrow. Can you please remind me of the day Mikel Obi and Echejile got injured prior to the 2010 WC? Oyinbo man doesn't pray, he prepares against all odds and that is why they are where they are today. You don't pray for evil but you prepare against evil. |

TheSuperNerd: @Bolded... the logic is not cogent at all. Fact is that Shaktar is in Ukraine. Why changing logics now to "if Shaktar was in EPL, or serie A, they will make top 4"? Egbon, I will be honest. It is not true.
Nacho in the EPL, Simy in the Serie A, and Musa in Russian premier league all play in leagues bigger than the Ukrainian league and over the course the season they have better performances and stats compared to Kayode...
You are using Nacho's and Simy's full season stats in two of the biggest top five leagues in the world to compare with Kayode's half season stats in the Ukrainian league.. it is not a balanced analysis at all. Shahktar Donetsk is bigger and better than Leicester City, CSKA Moscow and Cronto. Fact And doesn't change the quality of play of Shakhtar Donetsk over these clubs. These clubs will struggle to get top 5 in the Ukrainian league though CSKA Moscow may make the first 3 or 4 based on club rankings. But you claimed Kayode performance in the first half of the season was poor. Do agree Iheanacho and Musa performance in the first half of the season was even poorer than Kayode's first half of the season? No! I used both Kayode's first half of the season in La Liga which is better than these aforementioned players and the second half of the season which is all as good as some of these players. |

Chrismario: Oga, he did better than none of those you mentioned above. The stat is close but considering their respective league, his exclusion is well justified! Even when Kayode was in the la Liga, his first half season was better than some. It's not justified. |

TheSuperNerd: Nacho had 8 goals and 4 assists Egbon! The others are correct... and plsss are you now trying to say Kayode did better than them all? So the Ukrainian league is now bigger and better than The EPL, Russian League and Serie A abi?
Kayode had a poor first half of the season at Girona (no thanks to some game time ish too shaa). He is having a late resurgence at Shahktar. Let is rest Egbon. Kayode is still part of the fringes of the team. It is not over for him just as it is not over for Onyekuru and co.
. You are right about the 4 assists but it doesn't dissanul that fact that all these players performance woefully this season which is below their standards. All had a poor first half of the season, nevertheless Kayode performance in the first half of the season was still far better than Iheancho and Musa in the league. Like I said all are in the same category. Nothing spectacular. Shakhtar Donetsk is still far better than Leicester City, CSKA Moscow and Cronte. Even if these clubs plays in the Ukrainian league, they will still be dominated by Shakhtar Donetsk and if Shakhtar Donetsk plays in these leagues Shakhtar Donetsk will still be in the top 4. If I am lying or exaggerating ask Manchester City and Roma. It doesn't take away the quality of Shahktar Donetsk. My good friend, Kayode will be deceiving himself if he thinks he has a future with the National team under this present coaching crew. He should focus on his club career and forget about the National team. This is my humble advice to him and this is not the first time I am saying these. |
