This was already addressed in the first line of my post. We are a nation that relish and flourish in mediocrity.

If you try to reconcile the funds at fashola's disposal (IGR + Federal allocation) with his achievements, there is a mismatch and you will at best score him average.

Now this average score has been translated to an exceptional score because of the prculiarity of this sick nation called Nigeria which is on its way to recovery I must add.

I wonder what the mega deal is with Fashola's performance in lagos that has turned him to an instant celebrity. I don't blame him sha, when all his counterparts were busy embezzelling left right and center and having no infrastructure or nothing to show for it, he at least made sure he had something to show. Lagos is the highest IRG state in the whole federation for crying out loud!

I am an EH and have been invited for a validation test/Interview session slated next week monday. I just wanted to get it all clear. see an excerpt of the invite "You will be required to sit for a validation test before you are progressed to the interview on same day since you sat for the online Ability Test unsupervised"

I am not sure I quite understand your query tho. Are you talking about the day I was interviewed? If yes, there was no such test for me o. But my invite suggested such would be conducted for some EH that were based overseas who took the test overseas.

(3)our thresholds for situations as humans differ from individual to individual. That may be a big deal for you. But for someone like me who has known frustration on a first name basis, waiting from now till March is child's play. At least in my case, I waited from October to April whilst refreshing my yahoo mail almost every ten minutes all that while. My question to you is where we're you in 2006? This is disregarding a few other training sessions I have had on the same subject from then till date.

I went for mine last week. Since the deadline for the medical exam itself expired yesterday. Lets give them 2 weeks (max) to review the results, obtain Management's approval and come back to us with offer letters.

There are always plenty sides to a story, and it'll be great for the company if they hire people who are capable of seeing the whole picture at first try. It'll be good if a few more see the full picture once guided a bit, but it will be pitiful if most of the hired ones stick to a single story albeit a privileged one; very pitiful.

The applicants with no employment have the ill luck of probably solely banking on this recruitment exercise, especially those who resigned jobs to go on masters, high risk venture there.

The applicants in paid employment have to deal with the drudgery of probably waking up to an unhappy place of work daily.

Both scenarios surely not ideal and doesn't take away from the pains of both. I have been in both scenarios and truly know it's better being in paid employment whilst waiting.

Please, if you can, kindly develop the ability to see from another point of view. It will be beneficial ultimately.

This is the story of my life that God Almighty in His infinite mercies is about to change permanently for good in a bit. Add to this, the fact that I have to commute one and a half hours to the miserable office and another one and a half hours back every freaking day!

I was once unemployed and I tell you the pressure of expecting feedback from employers then was much easier for me to bear than now.

Online Test- April 25 2014

Interview - October 13th to 20th (or so) 2014.

Notification of outcome of Interview - April 30th 2015

Confirmation of interest and availability mail - October 5th 2015

Invite for pre employment medical examination - October 20th 2015.

Okay guys, this dude waited a whole year before he was contacted. Granted, that is far more likely to normally happen in the case of experienced hires than gts, and I'm not saying either case is fair or not or anything (cause I dunno what's going on in there) but imagine constantly checking your mail for a year in anticipation. Let's try and borrow a leaf even if it's a tiny one (of course no one would reasonably expect ours to be close to that long). Of course it's a tad easy for me to say because I'm employed but you're very wrong if you think the anticipation isn't killing me too.

I have edited my resignation letter (notice to an end to my slavery). I keep thinking how these fellows in my dept will receive the news of my exit. From 120k salary to 1.5million naira per month salary. Aaaaaaah! My operations manager once begged me to confide in him whenever I get a better job. He knew I was good on my job but the black dragons in the helm of affairs have declared we cannot emancipate ourselves from mental slavery. Aaaaaaah! (2) I beg to differ. Ok, lemme give you a sneak peak into what Ive been thru. My sincere apologies to those who may think I am whining.

My broda, I work for a miserable, sadistic company in the manufacturing industry. Please note that it NEVER crossed my mind for a second while I was in school that I would work in a manufacturing company for even a day. For me it was either OIL AND GAS or OIL AND GAS. there was no other option. But as fate would have it, and after spending over 2 years in the labour market, I had to settle for this company in 2006 while still continuing my hustle for the oil and gas job on the side.

This company is a multinational for your info with operating units in West and east Africa, Europe and Asia. You will not believe that I have never been sent to any other OU outside naija for even a day either for training, secondments or in any other official capacity. meanwhile almost everybody that I know has been out multiple times. In fact, many colleagues were enrolled in a Diploma programme with a university in the UK that will have them spend 1 week in every 6 weeks in the UK and this arrangement would last for 3 years or so. But Forkadict does not deserve this. Some others were even sent on secondments where they will spend anywhere from weeks to months overseas. again, Forkadict does not deserve this according to those mofos. Even local training sef, I recall a few years that I attended only one locally organised training session in those years and those training courses were compulsory for all staff otherwise, I could have gone for 2 straight years without attending a single training course.

Now lets talk promotion. Prior to 2013, I felt I was denied a promotion. But rather than wait for my direct boss to do that, I decided to apply for an internal vacancy that was a step higher at the time. My boss kicked against it citing reasons that the team needs me and that opportunities abound in my current role. To cut a long story short, the transfer was denied and he ended up not promoting me till this very moment. I could cite a few more instances but lets just stop here.

(3) I will most def leave with my dignity intact but I want the 'painment' to be maximally felt.

(4) Some other place, some other time. some other people, perhaps. But with these mofos at this time, omo na lie o.
