I said OK...This bad thought just came to my mind. I knew I had nothing to loose again. I have spent already (thats a loss on its own). Nothing can be worse.

So I intentionally invited her over to my house this time...as usual she brought her friend which was part of my plan.

When opportunity presented itself, I collected her friends number. I took a risk, I told her not to tell my girl. To my dismay she cooperated with me, I pinged her on whatsap, she responded and we started flowing just neutrally.

The next time we agreed to go to the beach. I was very surprised to see this girl dressed sexily, even over dressed more than my girl. My eyes stayed glued on her that my girl nearly caught me. May be she did, may be not.

Please permit me to drop my two cents on this issue. But before i proceed any further, I would like to acknowledge both the proponents and opponents of the 'back door recruits' in companies.

For anyone worth his onions who passed thru the academic rigour of a Naija university and who honestly graduated with a second class honors is capable of working in any company in Nigeria. To the best of my knowledge, there is nothing 'rocket Scientific' so to speak about industries in Nigeria. The so called recruitment process as it were came into being when the supply of graduates far outweighed the available jobs. Employers realised this and are exploting the situation to the maximum. I recall my dad telling me that when he graduated in the 1960s, he had 3 jobs waiting for him upon graduation. The interviews if he could call them that were just conducted 'in order to fulfill all righteousness.'

Now to back up my point, the minimum grade for prospective GTs interested in working at SPDC is second class lower division. While the requirement for a company like Mobil for the same graduate trainee position is second class upper division. Driiling Engineers in both companies functionally do the same thing on the field. Now If you take a graduate trainee drilling engineer from SPDC who graduated with a second class lower division that went thru SPDC's recruitment process and was succesful, and you put him on the job as a drilling engineer in Mobil. Do you think he will fail on the job? Knowing fully well that the functions of a drilling engineer in both companies can to a very large extent be considered same? And this SPDC graduate trainee drilling engineer would not have even been shortlisted for the aptitude test by Mobil. But if the same guy happened to be well connected and he got the Mobil job thru influence, can he necessarily be considered a wrong hand?

Further, the recruitment process for both companies cited above are different. Parrticularly, the way their interview stages are structured. Meanwhile in both companies exist reservoir engineers, drilling engineers, production engineers who functionally speaking, their roles in both companies will be very similar. They will essentially be doing similar activities on the jobs in both companies. However, the routes to clinch the jobs in both companies are different. So which of the companies recruitment process is right and which is wrong

Again, can anyone attest with 100% certainty that candidate A that got into a company thru the 'front door' will be better on the job than candidate B that went through the 'back door'

Like a poster earlier said, 'Life isn't strictly black or white. There is a wide range of colours in its spectrum.' And that I got in thru the 'back door' does not necessarily mean that you who got in thru the front door will out perform me on the job.
