I have been doing this for the past one year or thereabout. My e-mail is permanently open on my system at work and I refresh almost every five minutes. For me, the past one year has been very long, tedious and difficult.

Even tho, I have nothing at stake in the GT case, I can attest to the fact that the suspense here is both tangible and contagious. I think of that moment when mails start dropping informing some that they were successful and informing others they were not and I shudder.

Wow! I don't even know what to say. I was in this same position over a decade ago but the company was Schlumberger. Fresh from school with my hard earned upper second class degree, working with Schlumberger was all the option I felt I had at the time. In fact, it was the thought of working at Schlumberger alone that motivated me to study HARD, to keep pushing when my brain, body and soul were tired, to stay up late at night reading, avoiding girls and other distractions such as partying, playing chess etc like a plague. That thought even made me influence my NYSC posting to Delta state and eventually Warri. I applied to them from camp and sat the test. I passed and was dropped after the interview mainly as a result of in exposure. Oh boy! I cant describe the feeling when the recruiter told me I didn't make it past the interview stage. All the strength I had left me. I felt very weak and dizzy at the same time. To, date, I still don't know how I survived that ordeal. I couldn't eat or sleep well for a vey long time afterward. It was just like I has the premonition that with that missed opportunity, breaking into the oil and gas industry would take a very long time. Here I am, still trying to achieve that goal a decade later. So bro, trust me when I tell you that I perfectly understand how you feel.

My earnest prayer is that may God make us all laugh and give testimonies this year when this never ending NLNG experience is over.

You are asking if NLNG would cater for the transportation of its own staff because AFAIK and as has been discussed on this thread some time ago, people rarely fail medicals and this is a company that even has a contract with a certain charter airline for the management of transportation of its staff and contractors to and from Bonny, Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.

Cos I know of a potentential recruit that failed our company's medicals sha o. In fact 2 of them. I know cos I was close to our recruiter in an official capacity tho. But i dont know on what grounds they failed.

Interestingly, I see it as both. It is obviously a threat to NLNG, but I see it as more of an opportunity to us. Because NLNG foresees a possible reduction in its market share due to a couple of formidable players entering the market it will tend to take action. and the obvious action to take here is to try and ramp up production i.e. increase its market share by increasing output (hence more trains) before the competition come on stream obviously there will be a lead time (of investment in the plants, gas supply infrastructure etc, which NLNG already has in place) from the decision of the competition to enter the market to the first LNG shipment. That fact gives NLNG more leverage to negotiate long-term SPAs with buyers but they have to break ground on train 7 to show they mean business. Just my opinion.

Beside, I'm not sure US and australia have a ready buyers yet for their volumes. That will also take a while to secure as well. But at this point, the only edge NLNG may have over them is to start work on train 7 ASAP.

The NLNG also noted that the fall in global oil prices would continue till the end of 2015, adding that it might worsen in the coming year.

The firm, in a communique that was made available to our correspondent in Abuja, expressed worry over the impact which the fall in crude prices was having on its revenue, stressing that the entry of the United States and Australia into the LNG market was “a real cause for concern.”

The communique which summarised the third NLNG commercial division external stakeholders forum that was held in Abuja, noted that although these challenges were being managed, the regulatory environment had shown increasing uncertainties.

The firm said, “The recent fall in crude oil prices from above $100/bbl ($100 per barrel) in early 2014 to below $60/bbl in early 2015 and its impact on global LNG/gas prices as well as the demand/supply positions in both our primary and secondary markets in the Atlantic and Pacific Basins have had a significant impact on our revenues and profitability.

“The trend which will persist till the end of 2015 and which may even worsen going into 2016 with the entry of US and Australian LNG volumes into the market is a real cause for worry.”

Nigeria has one of the largest gas reserves in the world and is the second largest supplier of LPG globally, supplying four million tons of the product per annum. In Nigeria, LPG is primarily used as cooking gas.

Although NLNG is the primary source of LPG in Nigeria, a bulk of supply into the country is being imported.

This is wayyyyyy to low a card to be played by APC. I can remember vividly when Charles Soludo posted some salient questions about where APC was going to get the funds to implement all those welfarist promises from and he supported his arguments with figures. Then Fayemi responded that their economic team had taken care of all that and even considered a worst case scenario of meeting an empty treasury.

Only for APC to come up with this?? This is DISGUSTING to say the least.

Interesting points garnished with some strong language. Okay, so this is what I saw, in a similar vein:

1. As per the instructions given by Obasanjo then, NLNG has been more than self-sustaining, financing it's expansion from train 3 onwards and even financing the takeoff of the enigma that are Brass and Olokola LNG through the dividends it pays to NNPC. This, I think, is remarkable.

2. When the instructions were given it never was a problem because of the oil windfall. There was so much oil earnings that nobody really cared. Now, oil revenues have dwindled and suddenly, everyone cares.

3. If the governors have their way it is obvious there's going to be a funding challenge for train 7. Only about half of that $7.3 billion would be available to NNPC for investment which would fall short of the $6 billion or so share of investment required from NNPC for train 7, and Brass and OK LNG would continue to be a mirage.

And we all know what point 3 would mean, if it happens. It would hamper the progress of the company and the country at large which IMO would be unwise given the uncertain future of oil revenues and given the vastness of our gas reserves relative to oil, as a professor of oil and gas once profoundly told us "Nigeria is a gas province with pockets of oil" and as such we should be concentrating more on gas than oil since we have much more of it. Hopefully the looted funds are recovered in time to ease the tight financial situation in the country perhaps make our governors return to thinking with the future in mind.

But while typing my earlier submission, all i could think of was point number 3, hence the intensity of emotion in the post. Its almost a year since we were interviewed. we have been waiting and hoping for almost a year, while closely monitoring developments regarding the approval of the FID which I must say have been quite positive and encouraging. And then, out of the blues comes this threat by the so called governors? More worrisome is the fact that i dont think they have any meaningful projects they want to spend the money on apart from stashing away and funding their extravagant amd ostentatious lifestyles. I pray God gives PMB the wisdom and the will to resist them.

Well, I'm not sure about what you saw but for me I saw:

1. That Late General Sanni Abacha and former President Obasanjo were visionary leaders. They had long term perspective on issues particularly in the gas sector of the oil and gas industry.

2. That the group of morally bankrupt, extra ordinarily greedy, very gluttonous, extremely dull and myopic elements that call themselves governors are willing to sacrifice their future well being on the altar of today's comfort. We have the money, yet it is posing a big issue to get the FID for train 7. Imagine how difficult it will be to get the approval when the money isn't available. These murraforkers need to go for a few lessons on financial propriety. Morrally bankrupt id.iots!

All my inquiry on the status of the Nlng EH program always hits a brick wall. However some positions have been filled and the successful ones are to resume at different dates in September as per their requests.

@pandax please update as my June/July projections was a huge miss.

I have also confirmed a couple of resumptions as well. But that's all I have been able to do. I couldnt get the disciplines, the positions, and most importantly the pay.

Things have really picked up for the Graduate trainees. NLNG may take at least a hundred of them or thereabout very soon. In a matter of months. While our fates are still hanging in the balance. I would really like to know if the GTs are higher on their (NLNG's) priority list than EH or they are both at par?
