It's so unfortunate he died.The treatment / antidote for this poisoning is Methlthioninium chloride commonly called Methylene blue which is readily available .It is administered intravenously.
The poison (Aminobenzene) causes inadequate oxygen in the body by binding to haemoglobin ,forming methaemoglobinaemia which affects oxygen binding and ultimately shortness of breath.
It's however important to exclude other possible causes of death by conducting Forensic autopsy and Toxicology.

It's a very interesting story and it's been seen severally in people who indulge in necrophilia- those who sleep with the dead.
It's been reported in medical journals of Infectious diseases and found in Pathologist and morgue workers that indulge in such.It is called 'corpse worm' but it's medically called myasis.its caused by maggots and flesh eating bacteria.
It's interesting to know that it's a public health duty to report to the police such findings in most European countries.Those who doubt the story should know it occurs.

She is not on the driver's seat.That should be Kenya from the names and they use cars with right hand steering.
Anyone can take photos these days with camera phone everywhere.I believe that should clarify your views.
I am just concerned about the woman's health condition and inability to get more portable and compact oxygen delivery device.

my second contribution on this,no matter how muchCalabar Port is dredged,it will still be more challenging for large,deep vessels to navigate and berth because the terrain of the Niger. Delta area is more tortuous compared to Lagos Ports.You just need to look at the map of Nigeria and you will understand.Foreigns vessel owners are not keen to go there because it increases insurance cost and mind you all these ships can only be insured by foreign insurance companies due to the cost involved.When the ports at Lekki and Badagry are developed,they will still get more patronage than the ones in south east.Its just a matter of the geography.The other suitable option identified is the Olokola ports in Ondo/Ogun boundaries intended for oil and gas.It is naturally deep and does not require dredging

They have been awarding contracts for the dredging since the mid nineties under IBB when the Free zTrade Zone was built.They are never genuinely interested but rather make money from the contracts as usual.Most of the ports in the SE are shallow and cannot accommodate very large vessels,and the terrain is quite tortuous making navigation more difficult to berth such vessels.This explains why the ports in Lagos- Tin can,RoRo,Apapa Quay,Container a Terminal,Lily pond will always be busier and account for more than 70% of port activities despite the fact that some goods destined for the SE are discharged in Lagos and conveyed by road to the SE.

It's so disheartening Nigerians encourage corruption.Public fund that would have provided good schools,hospitals,roads,power and other infrastructure for development is embezzled and this is all you can say!

The treatment for a ruptured uterus( womb )during labour is removal(Hysterectomy)period.Its an emergency procedure that requires huge blood transfusion and we even use the blood lost by the patient to commence initial transfusion(Autologous transfusion).The family should be grateful to God the hospital was able to save her life.Many hospitals in naija don't have skilled professionals or facilities to carry it out.In this case,communication may have been a problem.One of the doctors should have explained to the husband when they realised that the uterus was ruptured and the nature of the surgery.The woman has five children now so they should be good at least her ovaries are still intact and will not suffer symptoms of early menopause.

The guy is floridly psychotic and has auditory hallucinations ( hearing voices),this hallucination is a command type and he responded to it.He also has delusions(false beliefs) with religious theme.He most likely suffers from Schizophrenia.
He should be evaluated by a psychiatrist and ideally should be in a Mental Health facility where he can be treated.This is a serious and real life unpleasant event.He needs help,it's unfortunate that in Nigeria he's being made to face the criminal justice system.Nigerians on the forum should learn with such story rather than trivialising it or joking about it.Anyone can be a victim of mental illness .

In comparision with medical facilities abroad 49 billion naira is just the annual running cost of some of them.The annual budget for the hospital I work is about 300€ euros annually.The healthcare budget for Manchester health system has been increased to 7 billion pound sterling annually.if this Partnership is real,the the foreign partners are smart.It is known fact that Nigerians spend about 2 billion dollar on foreign treatment annually especially in India,UK,South Africa,USA and even Ghana due to thousands of illnesses and medical procedure that cannot be performed in naija.If this proposed facility can provide many of these treatment ,they will corner significant portion of the 2billion dollar we spend abroad annually.
Lagos state is providing not "just land" as some on this forum are saying.That land on Awolowo road used to be school of nursing,it has high rise building about ten storey,hostels,several buildings,classrooms and accommodation and the location is high profile.More importantly,Lagos is providing the market for these foreign partners.They will recoup their investment in less than three years.The market is actually the whole of Nigeria and with success will include other West African countries.
Healthcare is big business,stocks in healthcare companies are amongst the highest in USA.

The suspect certainly requires a psychiatric evaluation.He is most likely suffering from a "Delusional disorder" and it's a mental illness.Such people would devise every means to know their victim's home and work address,recreational place visited ,gym,social activities,phone numbers etc.The level of stalking in unprecedented and no matter what the victim does it's really a dangerous case.We have had cases like that and it's reported to the police and the victim sometimes is moved away from their homes,given paid time off work and granted police protection.Until the stalker is either jailed( if convicted)or a barring order has been granted by a Judge wherein the Stalker is told to keep certain measured distance,eg 200 m away from the victim,ordered not to visit the person's house,office or known place of recreational activity,then the victim can be allowed back home
Interestingly,there are few case where the stalker is a female and the victim a male.In this index case,the victim ought to have reported to police to seek protection when the danger was becoming more obvious.its a common condition seen in this part of the world

I am a medical doctor abroad and the best medical practice in this scenario are as follows,
-doctor should explain the diagnosis to the patient including the treatment options,seek her signed informed consent
- a chaperone MUST be present,preferably a female nurse of the facility carrying out the procedure
- the doctor should not have assumed the guy was her partner.He should have clarified their status before administering sedation and also obtain her consent for the guy to be present EvEN if he is the husband.
- the doctor is certainly liable for professional misconduct would have been suspended for at least three to six months for breach of trust_
- the lady concerned may seek financial compensation from the hospital
It's quite side that the rate of malpractice,misconduct and negligence is under reported to the Medical and Dental Council inNigeria.
Nigerians too should also enlighten themselves more concerning their rights.Thank you

Only people who do not understand how proper governance works would praise Fayose.If the healthcare system works would the man need to get a referral from Fayose to go to the hospital?So every sick person in Ekiti should now be calling the governor in order to seek medical attention.Fayose is indeed jobless and bereft of ideas with regards to governance .i am not a politician but Fayose is certainly the worst governor in Nigeria.Everyone should have access to healthcare without gong through a big man or governor

With 20 million you will realise there are medicall conditions that cannot be treated living in naija.Many Nigerian die unnecessarily from preventable illnesses,infections,emergencies,asthmatic attacks,childbirth,road traffic accident;insecurity,lack of opportunities,no fuel,no electricity,no water,no good roads,the list is endless.Even with one billion I will still choose to live abroad where I am.
I do not lock my doors when going out or at night before sleeping,I can plan ahead as policies here are predictable.you don't need connection to get any job,it's based on your merit,we have had medical issues and the ambulance is in front of the house in five minutes or less,same with fire service.i have lived here ten years and the light has never blinked.there are more than enough opportunities,grants,loans to improve yourself academically without help of God father.if u have issue,you have access to Govt ministers if u really need to..u get audience.
How can your 20 million naira in naija make one's life better than what I describe above.i live in one of the European countries.kids are on school break now,the have already paid my kids the money for the school uniform,shoes,stationeries etc...

It's a gynaecological condition where the vagina is poorly developed called atresia.its narrow and rudimentary usually accompanied by undeveloped uterus hence absence of menstruatio(amenorrhea).it may be genetic and associated with conditions such as Turner's syndrome.The patient may have other phenotypic all features like broad chest and small breast.However,the their some that are not genetic and restricted to the genital,if so,it may be managed by frequent dilatation.if it's of the genetic type,very little can be done about it.I have seen two of such patients with the genetic forms in my practice.

I beg to disagree.there are thousands of preventable death in Nigeria and other poor countries like ours.God has given man knowledge and skill to deal with many health issues through medical sciences.when people die due to lack of facilities,poor manpower and inadequate skill in naija we say it is the will of God.Kanu Nwankwo is an example of someone who is still alive today because the replacement of the diseased valve he had.he has had two surgeries now at the Cleveland hospital,Ohio,USA.Perhaps Jonathan's sister would be alive if she got her aortic valves replaced in a proper cardiac centre that abounds in all developed countries

You are wrong!aortic valve controls the flow of blood to the systemic circulation that's is the whole body except the lungs .it prevents the back flow of blood into the left ventricle.infact,when the valves are diseased in aortic incompetence that is when blood flows back into the heart (left ventricular chamber).in aortic stenosis ( narrowing of the aortic valve) there will be restriction of the outward flow.

i believe any doctor working in Uk supermarket has not passed the GMC exams.there is a huge demand for docs in Uk at the moment

Well,i guess there are challenge everywhere!i work in Dublin but moving to Uk soon cos i completed my training here.Due to recession,salaries have been reduced in Ireland .however due to shortage of doctors in Uk,the pay is good.If u can study for USMLE,the states is very good after the residency.I know its very tough in naija,moreso if u can relocate the exposure is better.
