I have scoured Lagos looking for an clean 2005-on Pathfinder with out success . Does anyone know anywhere there is one?? Remember CLEAN, not salvaged or with 120K miles or accidented! |
ole boy, make you wake up!!!!! ![]() Post the right pictures to be taken seriously. The engine picture is for a Mazda 606 2.0 engine and not a Land cruiser!!! |
crap!! I have had 4 passats. Hey are great and I vowed I would never do japanese cars again. Running gear parts are all the same as for mine. It is almost impossble to get genuine parts. I have a couple of guys who give me parts and the rest I buy whenever I am in europe. Infat I have spares for my passt that should take me for another 3 years!!!! The 1.6 will be sluggish and have almost nothing interms of otions as compared with the models with the bigger engines. You will need some trust worthy mechanics who know VWs. I can link you up with mine. Bottom: You will have no regrets if you stick with good mechanics. These cars' electrics can act up. But nothing that can be solved. Do you stay in Lagos?? Cos I do and all m links are for Lagos. |
What kind of passat ![]() year, model, engine type etc. |
I just got one like this with 66K on the clock. No leather, no electric seats and 4WD although not electric like this one. No scartches too. Immaculate for ?? make I no pour san san for another person garri |

my dear , "Keyless entry" has nothing to do with "panic" or "remote starting".These are all independent systems whose features have been described above. Manufactureres generally mix these another options in different and varying combinations to meet specific market requirements. |
AT LAST!!! A believer!! ![]() Yep is the FXX. Are you into that sort of thing too?? |
dpresident:dpresident!!!! you walahi!!! you dey do research o!!!! I go award you Phd in Ford Contourism!!!! ![]() |
Hello All, The model RC bug just bit me and its been so so exciting. If you don't know what I mean, check me out at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzXpfAKAj9E with one of my models Grin. These things are fast and really engaging. I have two fuel powered model. a Kyosho Fazer speeds of upto 100km/h (in the youtube) and a Traxxas Revo monster truck upto 70km/h. Its an expensive hobby but quite some fun. Being mechanically inclined helps as you are dealing with a real engine, which needs maintenance etc. I am planing to also get a Raptor 60 (which is a model Helicopter) I wonder if there are any other people who are into this hobby?? If you are there, then say something!! |
@obamedo Why would you say "forget about your stockbroker" Its cos of this attitude of ours as Nigerians that people continue to do these kind of things. If we were to demand for our rights people will sit up and be more accountable. After we go dey talk say Nigerian leaders no good!! @toyinajani So they are missing your certificate and you let it go!!!! If you were to sue them for damages you will see the kind of prompt response you will get from them. My broker did exactly the same thing. By the time I was through with them they had paid me 100K in compensation. It was stresful but I am sure they will think twice about the way they handle peoples certificates after dealing with me. On actount of my actions so many other people will benefit from those brokers cos I hit them where it hurts, in the wallet!!! Nairaland people, DEMAND FOR YOUR RIGHTS. You pay those guys commissions for God's sake. If you go market and them wan tak 10 naira for your maney you go dey shout becos but when these authority people dey do them own we go dey look!!!! Make we wake up ![]() |
Really messed up bank that dont know what ervice means. Like most other banks in Nigeria, they actually think they are doing you a favour even when you are paying their bills. I HATE Nigerin banks. I demanded they close our company accounts after the manger of our branch told me that I should appreciate that he came into the banking hall after they kept me waiting for over 1 hour to make a withdrawal. I reminded him that its his job to attend to clients and that he is not doing me any favours but just working tfor the salary. Complete utter rubish. When will we start demanding good service. And not just shouting or making noise but actually doing something about it. You can actually write to EFCC and complain about their conduct. Alot of their MD's dont even know the rubbish done in the branhces. Writing the MD also helps. But you have to do something. Our current bankers dont mess with our accounts cos they know we DEMAND service. My account officer almost lost his job cos the branch returned a cheque of ours without confirming it with us. |
@all You guys need to read the posts from agerho Water treatment specialists are a lot like doctors. You cannot give concrete info until an examination. You can only really give a budget based on expected flowrates, soil types etc. I do not know jack about boreholes but my speciality is water treatment. Unfortuneately, educated, intelligent people in Nigeria still prefer to consult plumbers as against seeking professional advise. There is so much information onthe internet but we no wan gree!!! @agerho We support people like you who work with "small" clients. Check out our website www.seindeo.com if you require specialized treatment equipment/analysis. |
I wouldnt advise revving a cold engine!! Now a good way to go and reduce your expose, in my opinion, is to have the car scanned. IN Lagos, diagnostic scanning generally cost about 5K when you bring the car to the garage. Otherwise you might be seeing a bill of close to 10K (min). The OBD scanning tool will detect if the problem is electrical (controller unit for the gearbox) or not. You can also see it there are any faults logged with other systems in the car. Barring a controller failure (detected by OBD) you can rest assured that getting a replacement gearbox will solve your issues. You can also use the opportunity and look at the condition of the transmission fluid. All the best. |
have a look at www.1000carsales.com for prices but I guess the price you gave sounds fair. Have you actually seen the car?? Does the engine run smoothly?? If yes to above, then I would take the risk with a gear change. |
I CANNT BELIEVE IT. There is no one in nairaland who knows what I am talking about. All work and no play make jack a dull boy!!! |
The story sounds plausible. Towing an automatic requires specific knowledge (generally they should not be towed (with the driven wheels rotating) at a speed over 50 km/h for a distance no more that 50 km or so). The next question I would ask is "why was the car towed?" If you see my earlier post. I mentioned 200K so add cost of oil, labour etc you have 250K. But guy, consider things very carefully, there could be no end in sight to the bills once you start out wrong. How much is the car being offered to you at?? This is vital. Or else why go through all the trouble and uncertainty!! ![]() |
red = good, brown = replace due to normal wear and tear, black = internal damage to friction clutches. Smell could also guide you. A burnt smell associated with the fluid is a no no! |
oooooohhhhhh what a small car !! What size of engine does it have?? |
Like I said he will need to focus or is his plan to do all cars?? Whatever the case, I know of a few people/garages that do this kind of thing. But I wonder how many of them will welcome the idea of training a competitor?? |
What ever the case, keep in mind that if you decide to go the route of buying the care, it might set you back 200K worst case. You can have the car scanned for faults, and then you will know exactly what the problem is and then you can decide what to do. Changing the automatic gearbox on a modern VW is no walk in the park. There is programming to do and you cant even tell a good gearbox until it is mounted in the car (if you are buying tokunbo). My candid opinion: except the car is very cheap, forget it!! I have had 4 VW; two VR6s (manual and auto), one 1.8T and currently have a 1.9 TDI 9whih I have even chipped). I have the scanning tool and manuals etc. VWs are excellent if you know what you are doing but most mechanics dont and they mess things up pretty badly pretty quickly and then you hear the stories the VWs are problematic. Be ware!! |
In addition to all the above, most newer cars have the keyless entry unit double as an electronic immopbilizer. So when you lock your car with the remote, you automotically put on the immobilizer. |
who else is there!! My reliable baby:
|
Long long story. Modern cars have almost all their systems electroniccaly controlled. That way they will always operate at their optimum level. For what your brother plans, he will need to invest some good money (and I mean upto and over 1 million) on what is called diagnostic tools. And this is just the start. With the tools, he will also need manuals and a knowledge of auto mechanics. At the end, he will have to decide on what exactly he intends to focus on cos in that business, you can be a jack/master of all but at a very high cost. Each make/model probably requires its own tool. And generic tools that generally "see" many makes/models cannot do all the specifics etc. I have such a tool and take care of my cars and bike myself. This is the link to the top aftermarket unit for VWs www.ross-tech.com hope this helps |
oops!!! Looks like I put the wrong link. Here is the right one. Sorry!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzXpfAKAj9E |

Anyone looking into the future for Nigeria must see that eventually things will change. The banking industry, which really offers nothing to the real sector will stop being the place to be. It is already starting with all the IPOs after IPOs. Anyway I am an engineer and I can tell you that you will have more satisfaction doing what you have a passion for that following after the money. But then again, maybe you are not really an engineer!! You need to do some introspection and realise for your self who you are and what makes you happy. Money only satisfies for a short time. |
