It was a bad day for policemen escorting a bullion van purportedly belonging to an old generation bank as they were waylaid by dare-devil armed robbers who opened fire on the team before making away with the cash-laden van at Elemoso village along Ondo-Akure Road in the Ondo East Local Government Area of the state. The robbers who were said to have laid ambush for the van, were said to have escaped with undisclosed amount of money. Reports have it that the bullion van and the escort vehicle were found ridden with bullets after the incident which was said to have occurred at about 4.50pm. An eyewitness reported that the policemen that escorted the bullion van were caught unawares after the armed robbers rained bullets on the police escort vehicle and the bullion van simultaneously. He said: The policemen and the driver of the van took to their heels immediately the hoodlums opened fire on them. The operation lasted for just about seven minutes. The speed breaker erected on the highway helped the armed men. They overtook the vans and opened fire on the policemen before they could realise what was going on. The men were better equipped because they operated with confidence. The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Isaac Eke, described the attack as shocking, adding that the police had launched a manhunt to track and arrest the robbers. The command suspects conspiracy in the attack. Official booking of security was not made at the Police Operations Department before the assignment was carried out. Also, none of the escort police officers in the convoy had reported to the station. Their whereabouts remained unknown. But we will soon arrest and bring the hoodlums to book. All law abiding citizens are advised to go about their lawful business. http://www.gq234.com/news/news-robbers-attack-bullion-van-and-cart-away-millions-in-cash/

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has demanded full investigation into the incident at the National Assembly, which led to the shutdown of the legislative complex on Thursday. The party asked the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, to institute an inquiry to unravel the circumstances and facts surrounding the development within the next 72 hours. It is the second time the ruling party would react to the chaos that trailed the reconvening of the House of Representatives to consider President Goodluck Jonathan’s request to extend the emergency rule in three North East states – Yobe, Adamawa and Borno — ravaged by insurgent activities. The party had on Thursday lampooned the Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal and other lawmakers who forced their way into the chamber wondering what would have happened in the absence of security operatives. The party said the police merely carried its constitutional duties of keeping law and order. Mr. Tambuwal was a PDP member until October 28 when he defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC. In the latest statement issued on Friday by its spokesperson, Olisa Metuh, the ruling party said the sanctity of the National Assembly as an arm of government and citadel of democracy must be upheld at all times and that the matter should not be shrouded in controversy and accusations. It said, “Whilst we acknowledge that due to the security challenges in the country, the security agencies are within their constitutional powers to search individuals and ensure that only responsible and duly accredited persons gain entrance into the National Assembly complex, we wish to state in strongest possible terms that we are with President in not condoning any act that might indicate that the police went beyond their bounds in the incident. “The PDP is known for its unwavering stand in upholding the tenets of democracy. Our stand for justice, fairness, and equity at all times remains undiluted. In the same vein, President Goodluck Jonathan has been very humble and forthright in upholding these principles and rights of citizens. He has instituted free, fair and credible elections and remains unwavering that his ambition does not worth the blood of any Nigerian. The PDP said it believed that there was no need to shroud the development in controversy, stressing “In this regard, we call for a full investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident within the next 72 hours. Nigerians deserve to know the truth at all times.” PDP backtracks, demands probe into National Assembly blockade http:///5fl8oKQ2xu

OP, I'd partially agree wiv u. As someone who studied Statistics in d university, at first, I tot it wud b easy bt wen I got into it, it wasn't wat I expected. U need to b a genius in dealing wiv figures n good in remembering formulas. Quite different from Mathematics I must say. Several members of the House of Representatives scaled the fence to gain access to the complex Thursday after they were stopped by security agents. At least 15 members of the All Progressive Congress, APC, did so.

The Super Eagles trainer made two changes to the side that won in Pointe Noire when they take on Bafana Bafana this evening in Uyo Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has made two changes to his starting line up when they take on South Africa on Wednesday evening in Uyo. Forwards Emmanuel Emenike and Ikechukwu Uche will be joined by Ahmed Musa in the attack as the African champions will be hoping to secure victory which will confirm their place for Equatorial Guinea 2015. Raheem Lawal will replace Hope Akpan in the midfield with Ogenyi Onazi and Obi Mikel expected to hold middle against Ephraim Mashaba’s side. Onazi did not take part in Tuesday’s training exercise held at the main bowl of the Akwa Ibom Stadium with reasons for that not revealed. Eagles will welcome back Kenneth Omeruo into the starting line up as he will be replacing Godfrey Oboabona who is out of this encounter due to card offences. A baby boy born with four arms and four legs is causing panic in the streets of Baruipur, east India, as locals believe he is the reincarnation of a god. The child has been named God Boy, as multiple limbs are common among Hindu deities, and people are travelling from across the region to the city in West Bengal State to get a glimpse of the child . Local police complain they are struggling to control the crowds, as hundreds clamour to get access to the hospital. The family are overjoyed at their new addition and see him as the son Hindu God Brahma, who is depicted with eight limbs. ‘ When he first came out we couldn’t believe it, the nurses said he was badly deformed but I could see that this was a sign from God. In fact, this is a miracle, its God’s baby. Indian God’s have extra limbs just like this ,’ a relative said.
