Governor Akpabio presents N397.141b budget

Akwa Ibom State Governor Godswill Akpabio yesterday presented a N397.141billion budget to lawmakers for the 2012 financial year.

According to Akpabio, the budget is a decrease of N22.644billion against the total revised appropriation of N419.785billion for the 2011 fiscal year.

In the budget outlay, N66.244 billion is for recurrent expenditure. About N330.897 billion is for capital expenditure, representing a recurrent capital ratio of 1:5.

The governor puts the total projected revenue at N263.777 billion, representing a decrease of N12.817billion as against the 2011 corresponding revised estimate of N276.595 billion.

The “Budget for Industrialisation”, Akpabio said, will derive its revenue from derivation N200. 132billion, Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) N21.646billion, Statutory Allocation N36billion and Value Added Tax (VAT) N6billion.

Akpabio praised the House for the cooperation given to him, saying such has led to the uncommon transformation the state is experiencing.

According to him, the policy thrust of the budget is based on consolidating the gains of 2011 and completing all projects.

Speaker Samuel Ikon assured the governor of the House’s support.

EducationRe: Fashola Defends And Justifies The Increment Of LASU Fees by frankcimc(m): 10:53am On Dec 07, 2011
That is exactly the problem. You can't make Lasu an exclusive preserve of the rich. If you have to increase the fees, perhaps you make government funded loans available to the poorer students?
Gbam!
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Is Not Ready For State Police - GEJ by frankcimc(m): 10:44am On Dec 07, 2011
Funny! Controlled by people in power? Must state police be controlled the governors? If what you have now isn't working then the smart thing would be to try something new. How bout taking a leaf from the structures put in place by the U.S. concerning state police.
Right! since what we have at this point is not yielding desired result why don't we give a state police a try by giving them limited power and try to checkmate them every now and then until they are matured fully rather than wallow in our old ways.

oh well i wouldn't want to just accuse only the women on this or shift from the topic, but I realise that our men too so called business men do the same in the name of hand luggage and Xtra luggage, can you imagine:
carrying more kilo than the airline gave you at the airport and then start looking for help?
wearing 4/5shirts and trousers just to reduce load weight? the guy go come puff up
trying to support the luggage with your feet when the luggage is on the scale just to reduce the weight?
Crying and begging that God will bless the attandant if she/he close her eyes over the overload?(women are better here)
Abuse them, tell them they re wicked ppl bcs they refused to carry overloaded luggage
Handcarry big oo e no fit enter the carbin and you still dey call am handcarry.

Although women own dey understandable bcs them no fit go anywhere without heavy loads shaa but when men do am its looks somehow shaa.
