www.nigeriana.org/tag/pure-water/ Pure Water’ Hits N20, Hawkers Protest Price of satchet water popularly known as ‘pure water’ on Thursday soared to N20 from N10 per one in Benin City. At some restaurants, customers opted to drink bottled water whose price rose to between N70 and N80. The increase in price however sparked protest from hawkers of satchet water who lamented poor sales. They said a bag of satchet water that hitherto sold for N100 per bag now sells for N150 per bag. Satchet water hawkers protesting hike in prices of satchet water in Benin City, the Edo State capital. Helen Usunobun who spoke to reporters said the situation was worsen with the N60 paid daily to council officials. She said they could not cope with the hike in price which would leave them making N30 profit for very bag of satchet water. Her words, “They said dollar has gone up. Whether dollar is in the water, we don’t know.” Another hawker, Mrs. Enoma Blessing, said people that used to consume four satchet water now buy only one per day. A water factory owner, Mr. Irhue John, ascribed the hike in price to increase in sourcing for packing materials. Irhue said a film roll that sold for N600,000 last week now sells for N920,000 while packaging material rose from N3300 to N5000. According to him, “Nobody can give water treatment and sell at the former price of N100. It is a terrible situation we have found ourselves.” “It is the sourcing of the materials that is causing these problems.” Chairman of the Water Producers in the state, Henry Eremokhai, said the approved price by the association was N120. Henry noted that many water factories have been closed due to dearth of packaging materials.

48hrs after CAN, Christian Association Of Nigeria declared their support for war against corruption in Nigeria, the popular Music artist turned Pastor, Chris Okote wrote directly to encourage the extension of the fight against corruption into the Christendom. Pastor Okotie is very optimistic in his writeup that if Alhaji Bafarawa was the accredited agent who collected welfare packages for Muslim faithfuls from Jonathan out of the money meant for arms purchase, who collected for Christians. He voiced out that CAN must be probe. Hear him directly: Leadership is the terra-firma upon which the citadel of progress can be erected. If the foundation be destroyed by corruption what can the righteous do? It is my founded expectation that the respected Cardinal would urge the government to probe the leadership of CAN, PFN and other pseudo religious organisations who acquired their fabricated titles under spurious Christian nomenclature. |

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Vacation Presidents need many vacations for their jobs are very tough. If you knew how two young men Mr. Clinton and Mr. Obama aged in four years and then four more years you will see how challenging the job can be. A 73-year old Buhari will need to catch his breath much more often than Clinton and Obama. Both had 2 months’ vacation in every year of their services. One in summer (usually in Massachusetts Martha’s Vineyard) and winter in Hawaii. . Nobody should begrudge PMB of his well-earned vacation. But why would a Nigerian president not spend his vacation in Nigeria? Why must he spend it abroad? This is where we show that we do not like what we have at home and do nothing to make what is abroad available to us in Nigeria. When we get sick we go abroad, we want education for our kids we go abroad and we get a vacation time we go abroad. This is a shame. A country that is foreign exchange starved cannot afford to have her president and his entourage spend their vacation times and foreign exchange abroad. I had thought that PMB was opposed to foreign junkets while a candidate but he seems to have become his own foreign secretary and now spends his vacation abroad. SS has very many wonderful resorts in Obudu Cattle ranch, and Calabar is a very holiday friendly place. Enugu has Nike Lake resort and there is the old Jankara Game Reserve. Or why did the president not go back to his village in Katsina and play checkers/draft with his old buddies? These would make him live as Nigerians live and make him feel like ordinary Nigerians. I have lived in USA for a little while. Over these years I am yet to read of a foreign head of state spending his vacation in US. Why do we snub our things, always searching for things abroad? Would other Nigerian who want to enjoy their vacations abroad get the foreign exchange to do so or is PMB above the law? I only pity Labour Union. When there was fixed charge, none of them protested. Yeye people. Just like BRF, electricity tariff hike is a quinine. We just have to swallow it no matter how bitter it is |
otokx:Noted. |
okangaijele2015:It's too early to start your day like this. Your write-up really describes the level of your IQ. How can you write something like this believing yourself to be making sense? You are a disappointment to the Nigerian youth |
GreatAgb:People without prepaid metres are never cheated. Every area has unit code. Industrial, residential, commercial, developing areas, and rural areas have unit code. For example, if you don't have a meter but falls to R1 code unite, check your BILL the units on it will not more than 900 because R1 is btw 600 - 900. Multiply by tariff and add vat The best is to get your prepaid meter, more economical |
Its just unfortunate for the NLC. It seems the socalled educated Labour Leaders don't reason well before their usual action. They should not allow themselves to be used. If someone was robbing you 50units and now reduce to 16, what is the sense in protesting against that. May God bless Nigeria |

BEFORE YOU CRUXIFY FASHOLA, Read This With reference to the new electricity tariff hike, I think we Nigerians have to reason well before we condemn the development. Firstly, we all must appreciate the fact that the monthly fixed charge (a terror in disguise) had been abolished. With all sincerity, this fixed charge has being a treat to Nigerians unknowingly. Today, we pay for what we use unlike before when a community transformer develops fault for three months and still charge to pay three months fixed charged. This is a total liberation from robbery. Now let's bring out the analysis: Ikeja DISCO for instance was charging N14.96 per unit and with an increment of N8, will now be 22.96. Therefore to recharge prepaid N5000 will get 5000/22.96 = 217.77 units But before the increment, with N5000 you get =284 1units instead of 334units (50.1) Now 284.10units - 217.77 units= 66.33 units. whereas N750/month fixed charge worths 50.1 units It means you were being cheated with 50units monthly Now 66.33 - 50.13 = 16.20units This mean your monthly robbery has been reduced to 16.20units with greater advantages. It calls for celebration...! In some areas where they don't enjoy constant power supply, 217.77units might last up to 2months. Especially when transformer develops fault, rain storm falls electric pole, the fear for accumulated fixed charges has been removed. There were areas who never used light for 4months, after the instalment of their transformer in the fifth month, they had to pay N3,750 fixed charge for 5months. We must appreciate this development. We had been under cheating leadership for long and this present crops are bent to bring relief holistically. Let's all shun criticism that could frustrate their thrive May God Bless Nigeria One Day We Shall Arrive Going forward, electricity consumers in Nigeria would |

This woman deserves an award! In all, wisdom is the most principal thing. Look at the pix, there was a severe fire outbreak where all linking exits were already gutted with fire. In the course of waiting for the arrival of fire service brigadiers, this woman displayed prudence, because allowing the child to stay in the smoke is graphically and technically dangerous. What a mother's love! The baby was so fortunate as the neighbours outside rescued the baby when the mother threw him from the window down The message to all women out there is: "don't exhaust all your %100 IQ in pursuit of fashion, a %10 conserved could be very helpful in time of need

One of my facebook friends posted this: I'm under frustration and it's like Nigeria is no more conducive for me at 38. 10yrs after University education, I still live from hand to mouth. Is my case different because I live in typical rural area?I decided to hide his identity to avoid embarrassment to him. In such situation, how can you advise him? A word from you could redeem his life because he is also a Nairalander according to him? |
