I foresee a Nation where both Christianity and Islam as religions are reduced to minor. Another unbelievable act of belief will spring up. It is imminent, and I guess "atheism as it takes. The dominion over all The atmosphere is getting cleared already as the brainwashed ones are on retreat mission. It is glaring in our society |
NIGERIANS BE WATCHFUL •Turkey is in the present day Europe and partly in Asia minor. Christianity existed in Turkey for about 1,023 years while Christianity has only existed in Nigeria for 172years starting from when Rev. Birch Freeman came to Badagry in 1842. •The seven churches Jesus spoke to in Revelations 2&3 existed in the old Turkey. The disciples were first called Christians in Turkey (Antioch). Even Turkey once had the largest Christian auditorium in Europe called Hagia Sophia in Constantinople. And Mary the mother of Jesus was taken to Turkey by Apostle John and till date, her room has become a tourist centre. TURKEY TODAY Present day Turkey now has 96% muslims & 0.02% Christians (less than 130,000). The Hagia Sophia (once largest church in Europe) was taken over by muslims and converted to a mosque for over 400years and later used as an Islamic Museum. WHY CHRISTIANITY COLLAPSED IN TURKEY •Doctrinal differences weakened the Turkish church. •Rivalries amongst denominations •Petty politics in church coupled with ethnic biases. •The Turks were building big cathedrals instead of building men. IS NIGERIA HEADING THE WAY OF TURKEY? Virtually all the mistakes the church in Turkey made, the Nigerian church has made it. •We are building Cathedrals at the expense of Souls. •Dis-unity amongst churches •Ethnicity in the church •Denominational rivalry, etc. •Sharp division along doctrinal lines MORE FACTS •The spiritual foundation of Turkey is stronger than that of Nigeria and Christianity existed for over 1000years in Turkey unlike ours which is just 172years but Islam Radicalism uprooted it. If it can happen in Turkey, it can also happen if we are not careful. |

Nigeria shall be great but it lies in your hand |
IMPACTS OF NAIRALAND ON NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT For over 40yrs now, I can convincingly assert that Nigeria is a golden land of numerous opportunities for those who are resourceful, ingenious, creative, innovative, inventive, groundbreaking, enterprising, hardworking, focused, visionary and, most significantly, disciplined. A significant case study is the founder of this NAIRALAND, Honourable Oluwaseun Osewa, who created this platform to converge all Nigerians home and diaspora with primary aim for all to contribute our intellectual quota for progress and development of our dear Nation. But as a concerned Nigerian and Proudly 10yrs membership as Nairalander, it's daily becoming disappointing that the aim and objective of the founder has been forfeited and demoralised by some media cabals who take pride in only criticising instead of patriotic contribution towards the aspiring developments of our nation. This disgust makes me to question the role(s) of Nairaland youths in the current fight against corruption, unemployment, starvation and poverty in Nigeria. It is blasphemous..! However, this question was necessitated by my discovery through observations on several comments made by so-called Nigeria youth on Nairaland who criticised Chief Lai Mohammed over his statement quoted and publicised by a Nigerian National Tabloid. Most comments we read daily on Nairaland signal the stuff of what most Nigerian youth have in their mental stocks, and it is continually becoming embarrassing to the prestige of our dear nation. 80% of Nairalanders are youth but 75% are mentally lazy, educated illiterate, politically blindfolded, myopic, tribal bigots, perfidious and egoistic youths in Nigeria as at today. By what they post we know them...! Do we still have Youth of same mindsets with 1960s? Do you know that the idea of building FARM VILLAGES all over Western Nigeria by Chief Obafemi Awolowo emanated from the mind of a 29yrs old youth? What can we say of today's youth? Let's desist from political hatred and begin to make constructive contributions to the benefits of National development. The present leadership has a listening ear. I remember when Prof Wole Soyinka suggested emergency economic conference for economic experts to converge and rescue the economic situation. The man on top swiftly respond to stimuli. We need to hear/read of such reference from Nairaland. Let's revive the glory of Nairaland. In conclusion, it is not a must that you post or comment on every thread. The situation at hand now needs more positive comments. I expected Nigerian youth to come out with constructive developmental proposals to the advantage of Nigerian youth. We need different MEMOS, PROPOSAL, BILLs etc from Nairalanders. Nigeria belongs to all of us, Let's rise to the challenges. God bless Nigerian youth God bless Nairaland God bless Dr Saint |
Ahmed0336:There is no wahala in it. |
The Constitution of Federal Republic Of Nigeria stipulates 40 years as the minimum age for anybody seeking the highest office in the Nation. If you examine Nigeria politics since the inception of the democracy, no doubt that age limit has become a discrimination against Nigerian youths to rule the nation. “Nigerian youth are brilliants, intelligent and innovative. They have no limit in terms of number and capacity to lead this country to greatness. The only limit is that for youths to contest as President, they need to be 40. The point is, If Gen. Yakubu Gowon was able to rule this country at 32, there is no reason why the youths should not be given the chance. I think what the youth should do now is to come together, and take a bill to the National Assembly to amend some discriminatory provisions of the constitution in terms of age.’’ The bill should also stipulate age limit for the old people. Anybody above 60 should not be allowed to contest. Do you support? |

GenBuhari: ![]() Try to understand Buhari well. When he was in command of Battalion in Jos 1983 before he was chosen to be Head Of State, even the league of Army then can testify that he is slow to action. His decision has always been guided by the fear of offending Allah. If he is so brave as many insinuate, he should have jailed Obasanjo, Tinubu, Jonathan, etc. That's what Idiagbon is bold to do. But Osinbajo dares not |
It's unfortunate that what people heard about Buhari/Idiagbon regime was Buhari's name. There's no Idiagbon among this present league of democratic politicians. They are after eating the yam to finish. Those who witnessed the regime can testify to this fact. In 1983 I was in Pry 3. I can still say what I heard from the elders then. Buhari was chosen because of his integrity, hoping to be loyal to the military caucus. But Idiagbon disorganised the whole military plans. He never compromised. The same is happening today. Buhari's loyalty to some cabals will hunt his administration. Buhari is surrounded with Lions, ready to devour him and this is militating his administration. If the likes of Idiagbon had taken over the mantle of power to rule this nation, it could have been another positive stories |
DaBullIT:No one speaks against his integrity, but soft-mindedness. Nigeria requires an insane head to rule it. It needs a strong man of valour. But Buhari is not the type |
Almost a year after President Buhari took the mantle of power to rule Nigeria, Nigerians have started regretting for the decision to vote him as the messiah to save Nigeria from hardship. History have it that Mohammad Buhari while he was in Military never ruled Nigeria. He was just a camouflage over the ACTOR Man of the 1983-1985 regime, Major General Tunde Idiagbon. Buhari was renowned to be a very soft-hearted man, a religious man with solemn mind. The fact remains that all the policies during Buhari/Idiagbon regime were spearheaded by Idiagbon!........................ Continue reading https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aa0EQrAhO90 A lot of Nigerians hate him because he wanted them to be more responsible, more disciplined and more useful. Many soldiers were totally terrified of him. Some others were so petrified at his mere presence that even Babangida, Abacha and his fellow coup plotters could not execute a coup with Idiagbon on Nigerian soil. They had to wait for him to leave the country. Idiagbon was too disciplined, too straight and too honest for corrupt individuals. An extremely courageous man, Idiagbon did the unthinkable: he came right back to the country even when he knew clearly that his Commander-in-Chief, Buhari had been deposed, and guns, tanks and battle-ready soldiers would be waiting for him at the airport. Against all advice, he came back to Nigeria. He returned to face his enemies (even Gowon did not come back to challenge his foes). Idiagbon was a true General, a no- nonsense one at that. A most loyal friend who made many enemies. He said it would be a honour for him to die beside Buhari, his boss, who saved his life during the civil war. As the de facto Vice President of Nigeria, Idiagbon spearheaded some policies that many Nigerians have translated as some of the most extreme and stringent in the nation’s history. And they have their reasons. Idiagbon pursued the policy of War Against Indiscipline with a ruthless zeal. Under him, the law respected no one. When Fela was caught at the airport with more foreign cash than was stipulated by law, he was promptly arrested and made to face the music, just that it was not Afrobeat. As expected, some of those that bore the biggest brunt of the Buhari/Idiagbon regime were politicians deemed corrupt. Many of them were governors of the ousted Shagari regime. Special military tribunals were set up to try these politicians and at the end, they were handed some really incredible jail sentences. For instance, the late Alhaji Barkin Zuwo, who had been elected the Governor of Kano State, could not help burst out laughing when the military tribunal sent him to 250 years in prison. He laughed really hard at the idea that he would be leaving prison in 2234. Many thought Idiagbon was joking but he was dead serious. Idiagbon would blast corrupt politicians on radio and promised to smoke them out of their holes and make them face justice. Little wonder he made so many powerful enemies. On Radio Nigeria, he addressed the nation in a programme called Military In Action. Many of the indicted politicians were banned from holding public offices for life. Idiagbon was the most visible figure of the Supreme Military Council. When the Detention of Persons Decree Number 2 of 1984 came up, Idiagbon was the only person who appended his signature. He was dreaded by many and it was so serious that the Nigerian Bar Association issued a communiqué on the 13th of August, 1984 stating that the Supreme Military Council may very well take over the jurisdiction of the courts with the way it was just firing decrees upon decrees. Idiagbon believed that Nigeria was strong enough to develop from within and he believed strongly that should Nigeria be focused, the world’s most populous black nation would become a creditor nation. www.vanguardngr.com/2016/03/weve-human-abattoirs-sell-parts-for-n30000-suspect/ We’ve human abattoirs, sell parts for N30,000— suspect ON March 1, 2016 3:24 AM / By Ola Ajayi Ibadan—ONLOOKERS were stunned into silence yesterday at the headquarters of Oyo State Police Command as a 50-year old suspect, Kamoru Oladele, narrated how he sells human parts for between N25,000 and N30,000, adding that his gang has human abattoirs in Oyo and Osun states. Narrating how the law caught up with the suspects, Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Leye Oyebade, said the breakthrough was made by the special anti- kidnapping squad of the Command after receiving intelligence report on the activities of the suspects. Police further stated that the suspects had succeeded in giving their victims erroneous impression that they could make them rich through rituals. The suspect told Vanguard: “I am a herbalist and I do fortune charms for people. I am not the one that usually sells human parts. I buy from some people. This is my first time of engaging in this kind of business. I usually buy the human skull for N10,000 and sell it for N25,000 for those that come for fortune charms.” Kamoru Oladele... Human skull is called agbon. When police searched his house, they alleged that one smoked human skull was recovered. They further explained that the suspect used coded words for different human parts. Oladele said the words can only be decoded by their initiates, adding that “a human head that sells for N30,000 is called agbon (coconut).” The abattoirs He also disclosed that their trade was carried out in their human abattoirs located at Amuloko and Kuta villages in Oyo and Osun states, respectively. Also paraded was one Seun Ogunbamijo, who claimed to be a graduate of one of the polytechnics in the South-West. According to the police, they laid siege to some of the first generation banks in Ibadan, monitor bank customers who withdraw large sums of money and rob them. The police boss, Oyebade, said: “However, luck ran out of them after the anti-bank robbery operatives of the Command were drafted to the scene and they were arrested.” Some of the items allegedly recovered from the gang include two locally-made pistols, one cut-to-size single-barrelled gun, 10 live cartridges, one Toyota 4- runner with number plates ABC 624 AH, and a Toyota Carina with number plates KS 599 AAA.

www.vanguardngr.com/2016/02/will-nigerians-boycott-banks-on-tuesday/ Will Nigerians boycott banks on Tuesday? ON February 28, 2016 4:27 AM / IN STORIES By Udeme Clement, If Nigerians heed the call by the Consumer Advocacy Foundation of Nigeria (CAFON) and Coalition of Nigerian Consumer Protection Associations, banks across the country, on Tuesday, March 1, will be empty. The group wants Nigerians to boycott the banks on that day in protest against alleged arbitrary charges imposed on customers by the financial institutions. This is coming weeks after the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) imposed N50 on customers as compulsory stamp duty on deposits of N1,000 and above. The charge, however, is collected on behalf of NIPOST and the Federal Government and it goes to the Federation Account. Only last week, the CBN said it got banks across the country to return excess charges, estimated at N6.2billion, to customers. Our investigations revealed that, aside normal bank charges associated with daily transactions, depositors are exposed to many hidden charges as well as what financial experts described as arbitrary charges. Charges enormous – Mikail, Shareholders Association boss In a chat, the National President, Constance Shareholders Association of Nigeria, Mr. Shehu Mikail, explained that the banks are facing a lot of challenges in the operating environment, saying, however, that this does not justify some of the charges. He said, “The reality is that, banks have to collect certain charges to sustain their operations, in order to remain in business. They have to pay their staff, give dividends to shareholders and carry out general maintenance of their facilities. The banks spend a lot of money to buy diesel daily to generate power due to erratic electricity supply in the country. So, at the end of month, they transfer some of the costs to customers as bank charges. We are not saying that banks should not collect charges from customers, because they need some of these charges to stay afloat in business. But the issue is that, the charges are so enormous and, if not checked, may have adverse effect on the cashless monetary policy already in place. For instance, a large part of Nigeria is still un-banked, and if these numerous charges are not curtailed, many people who are already using the services of banks may stop patronising them”. Responding to what the Bankers Committee, which often meet to examine issues in the financial sector, is doing currently to tackle the challenges in the sector, he said, “It is clear that the Bankers Committee, at present, does not know exactly what to do, in order to turn around the financial sector of the economy, especially in the issue of forex crisis rocking the sector. So, deliberate and consistent government policies are needed to restructure the sector for greater efficiency, especially in the aspect of exchange rate that is affecting virtually everything in the economy now.” CBN, Bankers’ Committee and bank charges: It could be recalled that the cashless policy was first introduced by CBN on January 1, 2012 in Lagos State, where the higher proportion of cash circulates daily as a pilot study to test-run the process. Thus, the CBN and the Bankers Committee, in November 2012, agreed to abolish all charges associated with the use of ATMs, in order to increase patronage of ATMs, thereby deepening financial inclusion strategy of the apex bank. So, in December, 2012, they abolished the payment of N100 ATM withdrawal charge by depositors. They transferred the payment of the N100 fee to the issuing banks, stressing that the fee be split between the acquiring bank, issuing bank and switch companies. But, on August 13, 2014, the same Committee and the CBN re-introduced ATM charge of N65 instead of N100, to be paid by individual customers. The circular, signed by the Director of Banking and Payment Systems Department of CBN then, Mr. Dipo Fatokun, stated, “The CBN agreed to re-introduce ATM charge because the cost of transaction was becoming too burden some for the banks to bear. The circular from September 1, 2014 shall be effective date for the implementation of the new charge. Banks are expected to conduct adequate sensitisation to the customers on introduction of the new fee. As a result of the un-intended consequences of the decision, which has resulted in substantial cost burden incurred by banks in defraying the cost of the service, the payment structure for card carrying bank customers is hereby reviewed in line with the present realities”. Customers’ angle When Sunday Vanguard visited some commercial banks in Lagos, customers were seen carrying out their normal transactions. It was also observed that, some banks had more customers in the banking halls and at the ATM points, while other places were very scanty. Some of the depositors who spoke during the visit blamed the CBN for re-introducing ATM charged that was abolished by the former governor of CBN, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, while other said that banks are making a lot of money from customers, yet they keep on retrenching, even as many of their workers are on contract. A customer at Oluwo, Ikeja branch of First Bank, who gave her name as Mrs. Gloria Moses, said, “The apex bank that regulates activities of commercial banks is acting as if it is panicking, especially in the area of foreign exchange. If you look at the forex policies of the CBN critically, you can easily realise that the current CBN is already panicking. To me, the re- introduction of ATM charge after it was removed by the same CBN was unnecessary. For that reason, I don’t use ATM of other banks for withdrawal since that charge was brought back. I simply withdraw fro my own bank to avoid paying extra charge. It seems the CBN is even losing focus on what the banking public actually want, which is a reduction in interest rate for industries to thrive and create jobs for the masses. I think the re-introduction of ATM charge constitutes policy inconsistency”. Perspective of advocacy group/Objective Some of the practices mentioned by CAFON, which necessitated the action against banks excessive charges, unexplainable fees and unfair contracts designed to protect the financial institutions to the detriment of the banking public. Others are indiscriminate debiting of customers’ accounts for charges that are arbitrary and unilateral changes in interest rates by banks, and this without prior notice to the consumers. |

www.tribuneonlineng.com/i-wont-pay-n5000-to-unemployed-nigerians-i-have-different-priority-buhari PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has said that he has a different priority other than to pay N5,000 to the unemployed Nigerians as had been promised. He made the remark in Saudi Arabia as he continued his visit to the Middle East over the weekend. He said he would rather channel resources into the building of infrastructure, education, agriculture and mining to create employment opportunities for able bodied young men. He said: "This largesse N5,000 for the unemployed, I have got a slightly different priority. I would rather do the infrastructure, the school and correct them and empower agriculture, mining so that every able bodied person can go and get work instead of giving 5,000, N5,000 to those who don't work." The promised to pay N5,000 monthly stipend to the most vulnerable in the society was a major plank of the presidential campaign of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) last year. The president has also called for better conditions for Nigerians undertaking the pilgrimage to the holy land of Saudi Arabia and has consequently directed directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) to sit down with the Saudis to negotiate improved terms and conditions for our pilgrims performing the Umrah and the annual Hajj. His remark followed the completion of talks with rulers of the Saudi Arabia and the acceptance by the Saudi government to freely and openly discuss outstanding issues with Nigeria. Tribune Online |

www.leadership.ng/news/504249/naira-firms-now-250 Naira Further Firms Up, Now 250/$ By Tunde Oguntola — Feb 25, 2016 3:58 am The naira rose by 50 per cent yesterday against the dollar at the parallel market to N250 from N375, which it traded on Monday. The naira had been on a free fall in the last two weeks, peaking at 391 against the greenback at the parallel market last Thursday. The local currency, however, began a gradual recovery on Friday. LEADERSHIP’s investigation reveals that Bureau de Change (BDC) operators as well as street hawkers in Abuja sold the dollar between N250 and N255. A bureau de change operator, who simply identified himself as Ibrahim, said that he was very confused as the Naira continued to gain strength. He said: “Earlier this morning, I bought dollars for N305, but now it is sold at N250, making me to lose N55 in less than 10 hours. I am very scared of buying dollars because of the continued instability. “Although I am happy that the naira continued to gain strength at the parallel market as an overflow of dollars chased the local currency but we are losing greatly here.” Forex dealers said the local currency was set to gain further momentum in coming days, arguing that most traders were rushing to reduce the amount of dollars in their holdings. Currency strategist and experts have also stated that the depreciation the naira had recorded in the last two weeks was mainly artificial, arguing that it was part of the activities of currency speculators to force the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Presidency to devalue the naira. They are of the view that naira will recover because of two things: the Presidency’s hard stance on not devaluing the naira and the decision of the Bureau De Change operators to peg their profit margin at 3.5 per cent. President Muhammadu Buhari had on Saturday again rejected the idea of devaluing the naira, despite a hammering of the currency on the secondary market last week. The president, who spoke at the presidential panel roundtable on Investment and Growth Opportunities in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, said he rejected pressure to devalue the naira because Nigeria did not have the competitive advantage to benefit from devaluation. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had, contrary to the expectations of the international community and analyst, refused to devalue the local currency, choosing rather to reduce the rate of foreign exchange outflow from the reserves. An economist and currency expert at BestWorth Holdings, David James, said the naira would continue its rise to a point where the true value of the local currency could be found against the dollar. |

Pls professional advices are urgently needed. On the 6th of February, I received a call from my home town that my step-mother suddenly fell sick. As the breadwinner of the family, I drove down following morning for necessary action. But to my shock, it was a partial stroke. (One sided paralysis - from head to toe) I lost my mother, the first wife 10yrs ago but the father @ 75 is still alive enjoying the grace for continual collabo with the step-mother. On my arrival, I instructed people on ground to make quick intervention by carrying her to the hospital but my father and the whole neighbours objected, claiming carrying her to hospital will make the stroke worse, but believe more in herbal intervention. Today 25th, of February, after about 20 days of using the local herbs, as they claimed to be the best, the condition has never improved. Now many people from afar will not understand the scene but will be saying children of the first wife neglect her. I'm contemplating of forcing her to hospital for proper treatment. Pls I urgently need advise of the healthcare professionals as regard my action and explain better on the situation. Pleasssssssss, very urgent |
