PoliticsPast Administration Spent N2b To Renovate National Theatre's Roof Leakages by Freegift75(op): 7:58pm On Feb 01, 2016
www.housingnews.org.ng/past-govt-spent-n2bn-to-fix-national-theatre-roof-fg/

The Minister of Information, Mr. Lai Mohammed, has said a past administration spent N2bn for the repair of a leaky roof at the National Theatre.

The minister made the revelation on Saturday during a courtesy visit to Prof. Wole Soyinka in his office at the Freedom Park in Lagos. Mohammed, who lamented the poor state of the edifice, however, did not say which administration spent the amount.

He said he could not say for sure if the money was actually spent. Mohammed added that the Federal
Government was planning to initiate a Public-Private Partnership that would help transform the theatre to become the pride of the nation.

Soyinka, in his speech, said President Muhammadu Buhari was fighting the biggest anti-corruption war in Nigerian history.

He also commended the progress the President has so far made in the fight against graft especially in the $2.1bn arms scam.

The playwright said it was unfortunate that during the Goodluck Jonathan administration, money earmarked to fight terrorism was embezzled while children were abducted and soldiers sent to the warfront to combat terrorists without arms.

I totally disagree with you...! Why must he not be arrested? You have to analyse the reasons or get yourself implicated.

What makes Jonathan different from Dasuki, Metuh, Dokpesi and co? If he is found guilty, no mercy for corrupt conscience, KUJE or KIRIKIRI straight.

It was very glaring to all Nigerians that Jonathan was an embodiment of corruption during his tenure. He caught thiefs and he could not arrest them. He got the link to the sponsors of insurgency and he felt cowardly indifferent. Even the one confirmed looter was given amnesty. Eventually, we all witnessed his corrupt conscience when he disclaimed that stealing was not corruption.

Dasuki, Dokpesi, Metuh, Obanikoro, Fani Kayode, Tompolo, and other were only yameaters before Jonathan and they are not corrupt. But today, we have another administration that sees ordinary stealing as corruption.

However, under ethic and morality in a sane country, Jonathan ought to have been in detention by now because all evidence and confessions proved him to be mastermind of the sharing.

Jonathan needs not to hide under guise, he betrayed Nigerians who voted him, he committed treason and must face justice.

We need scape goat in Nigeria. If Buhari fails to cruxify all Judas of our votes, I reserve my curse for him. We all voted for good economy. We traded our votes for better Nation. I can imagine standing over 6hrs in scotching sun to vote for our betterment and someone entrusted with such responsibility now swindled us. Chai... If I get provoked and unearth my other side...god of thunder will strike.

But for now, I remain calm watching EFCC wheither it will dance to the gallery.

Nigerians Opinions:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
At the beginning of the saga, Former President Jonathan addressing a conference abroad said he never approved such huge amount of money for Arm purchase
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Former National Security Adviser confessed to EFCC that Former President Jonathan instructed him to share the money.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
PDP Publicity Secretary also confessed to EFCC that the money received was to execute contract for former President Jonathan.
------------------------------------------------------------------
The acting EFCC Chairman came up to tell Nigerians that from the investigations carried out so far, no document to prove that Jonathan instructed the sharing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

For the clarity, should Jonathan be questioned to explain to the best of his understanding?

Jonathan was the custodian of National Funds. Before any approval for any project, there must have been memos written for request. And after approval, there must also be memo submitted to Jonathan for the delivery of what he approved fund for.

However, Jonathan himself Promised to speak when time comes. Well, don't you think his time to speak may be after 2019?

Don't you think Jonathan ought to be invited by EFCC for clarity?

TV/MoviesWar Against Corruption: The Most Supporting Tv Station...? by Freegift75(op): 1:06pm On Jan 29, 2016
.....GIVING THE VOICE TO THE VOICELESS

[b]
Democracy In Nigeria since 1999 is getting matured day by day as the media who are the most key factors are beginning to grant complete freedom of expression to citizens especially in aspect of the fight against corruption by this administration

In 2015 the yearly World Press Freedom Day international conference produced a declaration that stressed “independent and pluralistic media are essential for ensuring transparency, accountability and participation as fundamental elements of good governance and human-rights based development”.

It was stressed that the media need to maintain a high level of professionalism, accuracy and impartiality in their coverage. They should guarantee fundamental freedoms essential to democracy, including freedom of information and expression, as well as participation.

However, since the inception of the fight against corruption by this administration, it is becoming glaring that TVC Nigeria has prevailed over other Stations in giving comprehensive opportunities for Nigerians to air their views and patriotic concerns, without sentiment and partiality.

Unlike other stations' programmes where people don't have privilege to call in during their live programmes, TVC Nigeria has been declared as the most supporting Nigeria TV Station to the present drive against corruption and boosting the democracy by showing more live programmes discussing national issues with telephone line opens for Nigerians to speak out.

Nigeria is at a point where our democracy must be strengthened by giving voice to ordinary Nigerian to air their pains.

Recently, Obasanjo accused our Senators and House of Representative members in a letter sent to National Assembly that most of them do not have constituency offices. When this clue was presented as topic on air for extensive discussions, Nigerians all over the nations had the great privilege to call in to buttress Obasanjo's point.

This is democracy and Nigerians need to speak. It is however a challenge to all other TV Stations all over Nigeria to support democracy by giving Nigerians chances to speak out.

It is not enough to just watch and listen, we need to speak out.

May God Bless Nigeria

To say the fact, Nigeria Police should stop carrying arms while on patrol. Guns should be carried only when they are responding to special duties, like confronting armed robbers.

Police on neutral ground intimidate, threaten and terrify common man with gun unjustly. The harassment too much.
PoliticsNATIONAL REFORMS: Should Police Officers Continue Carrying Guns? by Freegift75(op): 6:26pm On Jan 21, 2016
SHOULD POLICE OFFICERS CONTINUE CARRYING GUN?

This was a live TV debate but because most Nigerians may not be privileged to watch it, I decided to present it to Nigerians on this our No-1 National Online Forum.

For the recent times, records of extra-judicial killings among Nigeria Police Officers have triggered the debate on why Federal Government should checkmate the carrying of arms by police.

The question asked was, if guns were never invented, would police officers not curb crimes?

------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the United States, it seems obvious that police officers carry guns and are allowed to use them.

In other places, however, this would be considered a provocation and a violation of law. In Britain, Germany, Canada, Ireland, Norway, Iceland and New Zealand, officers are unarmed when they are on patrol. Police are only equipped with firearms in special circumstances. It's a strategy that seems to work surprisingly well for these countries. Police officers there have saved lives --exactly because they were unable to shoot.

COULD THIS PRACTICE BE FAVOURABLE IN NIGERIA AS WELL?

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Britain and New Zealand have adopted an uncommon style of policing. Their cops typically don't carry guns on the job. You might assume this would lead to more officer fatalities, but that's not the case.

"The practice is rooted in tradition and the belief that arming the police with guns engenders more gun violence than it prevents," Guðmundur Oddsson, an assistant professor of sociology at Northern Michigan University, told The Washington Post.

This has actually worked out quite well. The UK and New Zealand fare rather well compared to other countries when it comes to violent crime. They have some of the
lowest homicide rates in the world: Gun deaths are lower in Europe and Oceania overall, too:

CAN THIS WORK IN NIGERIA?

LOYALTY IS TELLING THE TRUTH TO THE BOSS...

During an interactive session with editors recently in Abuja, Mr. Emefiele, the CBN boss explained that the Nigerian economy was not as bad as being portrayed, compared with other economies in Africa.

He advised importers to restrict their imports to raw
materials and equipment, rather than finished products and food items, to reduce the pressure on the nation’s scarce foreign exchange.

“CBN will soon start a nationwide campaign to sensitise Nigerians on items excluded from importation as part of efforts to save more foreign exchange and stabilise the nation’s currency,” he
said.

“If we are able to reduce importation, the demand for the dollar will fall automatically. The country should go back to the farm to produce what was needed. “Public servants should also engage in farming,’ Mr. Emefiele said.

www.saharareporters.com/2016/01/19/referendum-eu-high-representative-replies-biafraorganization-emerging-african-states

Federica Mogherini, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security has replied Biafra agitators and the Organization of Emerging African States (OEAS) over their call for a referendum.

The OEAS had earlier requested that the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security utilizes their good office to help bring about a referendum for Biafra’s independence.

The OEAS also called for release of all Biafran political prisoners, a stand down of Nigerian forces, and a snap referendum to be held within 90 days.

In response to their request, Mogherini replied Dr., Jonathan Levy, OEAS Chief Administrative Officer, stressing that, the European Union’s official position is that while it has strong diplomatic and economic ties with Nigeria, “protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms remains a priority for the EU and we encourage the authorities [Nigeria] in every occasion to respect such rights.”

The EU went on to advise the OEAS and Biafrans that self-determination and border changes must be in accordance with established international law. The OEAS has called for an internationally recognized referendum on Biafra independence or autonomy.

The EU has indicated it will only recognize a Biafra
born via international law and not armed secession.

To achieve a referendum, the OEAS advises all nonviolent means should be utilized including general strikes, economic boycotts, work actions, demonstrations, lawsuits, and civil disobedience. Nigeria is a member of The International Labor Organization (ILO).

The ILO recognizes the right to engage in general strikes and the right to strike is also recognized in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and
Cultural Rights of 1966 (Article 8(1)(d)).
