How come your ancestors only got a small land mass, if the neighbouring tribes never took your land?
Igbos are the palestine of the EAST.

How do you mean Igbos got a small landmass? The sort of ignorance one encounters here in nairaland can be disturbing. How many tribes in thick forested rain forest belts end up with large landmass? Can you name them?

Do you know how difficult it is to penetrate through thickly forested villages now then compare it to how difficult it would be to travel long distances through dense vegetation in the past when there was nothing meaningful to help clear the large number of trees and climbers/undergrowths? If our vegetation was open grassland, we would have ended up with maybe three times our current landmass.

Even Ibibios still claim that parts of Arochukwu and Ngwa areas used to be their lands before it was taken from them by the Igbos of those areas.

Also, do you even understand the reason for our dense population?

Again, aside Yorubaland, is their any ethnicity or tribe in the South that has more land than Igbos? Can you name the ethnicity?

Can those minorities stand today igbo nation?

Or should igbos go and sacrifice for slavery..

Na news for them

This overgrown baby called Reno Omokiri is very petty and stupid. At some point, the Benin empire was vast and it would be expected that an empire of such magnitude would slaves from their neighboring tribes. Is it only Igbos that were slaves? No!

Igboland is vast and while those at the periphery will easily fall prey to outsiders, it doesn't make Igbos cowards. The only difference is that Igbos are democratic people who believe in live and let's live mantra. If they were empire builders, all the minorities around us would have been totally subjugated since we greatly outnumber them.

Foolish Reno even attached his itshekiri minority group to the Bini out of his overbloated ego, as if it's one and same.

Rome once built an empire that spread throughout the world at some time, but they're nobody today. The Chinese were once conquered by the Mongols and the Japanese but today, these people won't dare China without suffering humiliation.

Politics / Re: This Is Why Breaking Up Nigeria Is A Nightmare The North Won't Accept by FreeIgbos: 9:47am On Jul 22, 2021
Coronabirus:

North control the biggest stake in Nigeria's food commodities and in as much as 200m people will eat at least once in a day then you know foodstuff is a lucrative business, Northerners are the main actors in transport with more than 90% of Nigerian trailers belong to them, most petroleum tankers belong to Northerners, most oil marketers in Nigeria today are Northerners because the biggest strategy of Northerners is population factor, the consumption is high as such the profit will definitely be high. Northerners are 80-90% farmers, more than 70% of domestic fish we consume in Nigeria is from Baga, Borno state.
Nigeria has $400b GDP; look at the GDP of different sectors and commodities in Nigeria and assess who control the major stake of Nigeria's economy: Accommodation, food, transportation and real estate: 12.2%, Education, health, science and technology: 6.3%, Farming, forestry and fishing : 30.5%, Manufacturing, mining and quarrying: 11.3%
Retail, maintenance, repair, and operations: 24.9%
Managerial, finance and insurance: 4.2%
Telecommunication, arts and entertainment: 1.8%
Other services: 8.8%.
Going by the given statistics above it can be seen that Education, health, science and technology, Entertainment, manufacturing, Telecommunication, arts and entertainment that u claim Southerners control are not up to 30.5% of GDP contributed by farming and fishing mainly control and done by Northerners while all other businesses southerners do, Northerners are either into them en masse or are the main actors. Oil is a natural resources which u can't in anyway be proud of hardwrk in it; Northerners control the sector because they venture into anything that brings profit and the same with port and other government sectors, they don't attain the positions at platter of gold but by hardwork.
Dangote and BUA alone make up more than 5% of the whole Nigeria's GDP.
Only poverty ravaged person will sit down and make this unsubstantiated allegations against North, go back to farm and learn how money flow, venture into business and stop this unnecessary ethno-religious bigotry!

You jumbled together a lot of ignorant assertions without paragraphs which makes it difficult for me to correct the fictions you wrote with facts.

Firstly, you claimed to have a huge population but you forgot that having a huge population that is unproductive and poverty stricken is even a big problem. With poverty levels largely hovering in excess of 90%, 100 million people in the North may end up having same purchasing power with 5 million people!

Secondly, with extreme illiteracy levels and over 10 million out of school kids roaming aimlessly about, it becomes a vicious circle whereby you can only produce shoe menders, barrow pushers, and other forms of cheap menial workers who can't contribute anything meaningful to the economy. American tech companies are moving their facilities to India to take advantage of cheap but we'll educated population. After India, they will start coming to Africa and Southern Nigeria will naturally attract them while North misses out.

Thirdly, having 90% of your people as farmers is not something to brag with, rather it shows how crassly underdeveloped your economy is. Why on earth will you have close to 90 million people in subsistence agriculture yet we are not a net producer of anything? Even the cows that has become the federal government's only concern, you guys are no where near the top! 70% of domestic fish consumption in Nigeria from Baga? What a barefaced lie! We don't get any fish resources from the North, what we consume here is imported okporoko and crayfish/dried fish that comes from Oron in Akwa Ibom.

Fourthly, when agriculture is mentioned, do you think it's only cattle and goat or onions, tomatoes and other food crops grown in the North that contribute most of it? Lol, check our export commodities, cocoa is the major one. Then others like poultry, piggery, fish farming etc contribute significantly too. In transport, is it only haulage tankers that make up the transport sector? Do they contribute more than luxury and small buses? What about airlines?

Lastly, the only areas North dominate is through government manipulation. Oil marketers and the rest are due selective government patronage. Dangote has been using government to muzzle out competitors since day one. The FG protects Dangote like an insurance cover and ensures that it has everything on a platter of gold. Dangote can't survive on a level playing ground because he is not as good as you guys potray him. His involvement in building the world's largest refinery at a time the world is fast moving away from fossil fuels exposes him as lacking in foresight. To mitigate his exposure, government had to use NNPC to invest in the same refinery so he could get some of his money back. As if that was not enough, they're also planning to give him sole rights to import petroleum products.

Why should I go back to farm when I'm exporting intellectual skills and helping Nigeria to earn forex. The same farms fulani herdsmen are killing people everyday?

The joke is on you!!

The police (especially at the South are thugs), which is why killing them is a bad idea. They either quit and become criminals, or they start their own extrajudicial killings. You know how soldiers would wipeout a town if one of them is killed and the killers are not presented?

You're sick! What utter bollocks are you yapping here??

Over 20 policemen were killed in Zamfara, many soldiers have lost their lives in different parts of the North, so I ask you, how many towns have been wiped out in the North?

A military aircraft was even shot down a few days ago which must have cost a lot of money, why is the village where it happened not levelled yet?

You must be a mad man to have uttered this rubbish.

This is simply insightful!

Our Igbo brothers need to do away with the hate they harbor in their hearts for Yorubas from the first Civil War and not fall for the Hegelian Dialectic.

This contraption called Nigeria is ripe for implosion. And another impending doom most people are not paying attention to is the surreptitious Islamization of Nigeria.

Let the entire South unite as ONE. I love all my Igbo brothers all of over the world. May God be with us all.

I'm Igbo, but believe me, both Igbos and Yorubas are under serious threat. I don't need to be a CIA agent to know that Nigeria is sinking deeper into terrible mess and a massive storm is coming. It's either we unite and fight as one so we can be able to defeat what is coming or we continue bickering among ourselves and be annihilated.

The feudal leaders of the North also know that the day Igbos and Yorubas team up holistically with one accord is the day it would be game over for them. Ordinary Southern governors meeting had them foaming in the mouth yet these people have been having Northern governors meeting and all manner of Northern meetings without Southerners begrudging them.

Yorubas and Igbos are not enemies, at least we have never fought each other in Lagos or anywhere else. Simply because we are too educated and progressive. Those occasional arguments or banters enlightened people normally engage in. It is similar to all these Nigeria vs Ghana or Kenya threads we see in nairaland or elsewhere.

Isn't the river flowing to South South states?

How will the ship have access to SE if its blocked from SS?

Typing ignorantly and you're still proud of if.

Lol, you're the one that actually need orientation and not him. Now let me educate you, our section of the river Niger is not dependent on the sahel areas. FYI, Benue river also feeds the Niger and our region falls within the rainforest belt with all-year-round rainfall. That's why our section down to the Atlantic ocean never dries up, unlike the section from Lokoja upwards that dry up during harmattan season.

Again, river Niger is not even our most viable access to the sea, instead it is the ones that flow from Abia and Imo States that offer 100% reliable and easy to manage access.

The joke is on you grin grin

Which Abuja? A rent seeking city with no viability nor production base. Without Igbos and Oil and gas resources from Niger Delta which Igbos constitute a significant percentage, Abuja would become a ghost town and die a natural death.

That was before Buhari.
Yorubas have finally been jolted by a rude awakening to the realities of the Northern agenda.

Why do you think theres now a clamouring for Yoruba nation?
Why is the govt hell-bent on arresting Sunday Igboho?
Why are the Yoruba governors uniting with the Eastern and South-south governors in recent times?

Buhari is ironically a blessing to Nigeria because he has exposed the whole South to the Northern agenda which seemed only to be a conspiracy theory apriori.

The oneness of Nigeria has never been this threatened as the whole of the South has seen the light.
Ojukwu saw it early enough and clamoured for Biafra. But finally the rest of the South has come to its reality and I believe something is brewing in the South that has made the North obviously jittery.

At this point, Nigeria has we knew it is dead. A new set of nations will inevitably begin to sprout.

No we cannot achieve this through all-out war because truth is the North has overtaken the Military force. However we can achieve this by following due process of democratic government and reaching out to World Powers for intervention.
Cos as OP rightly said, the North is not going to give up their treasure island easily.

Everything you said is the reality except the part in bold. The North has taken over the vast riches of the South and is enjoying it without putting in any work while we the owners are suffering terribly. They know that even though we are performing far below our potentials as a country (which is also caused by them to enable them have effective control over us) they still know it's perfect for them. Look at the NNPC who controls everything there? Fulani.

Look at the NPA, Customs, Army, Police, oil wells, government, parastatels, agencies, ministries etc who controls them? Fulani.

It becomes more outrageous when you consider that these people controlling everything are contributing next to nothing!!

If you think that these guys will abandon this Utopia and give up to a gloomy life where they would be condemned to obscurity, poverty and anarchy without a fight, then you're not being realistic. These people will fight to death to ensure the status quo remains but South will still defeat them resoundingly.

Stop being afraid of war because that's the only propaganda and manipulation tactics they now use to deter South from breaking free. Igbos have already understood that scare tactics and that is why you see some of the separatist groups using same war mongering rhetoric against them.

Lastly, the outside world won't intervene except it becomes the last option. They know that North is already a failed region and they're using South to subsidize and moderate the region from becoming a festering Isil and other Islamic terror groups stronghold. So, they won't intervene except there is war or a threat of serious warfare that could lead to refugees crises.

It is better we all go back to how we were before the whitemen came to lump us together against our will.only slaves are forced to live together against their will.
Yorubas only nation will do fantastically well ,same with igbos,IJaws,Binis.

Those who have similar cultures, norms and values can form an alliance or federation.

If you think any part of South can fight against the fulani controlled federal government and succeed, then you're suicidal. You can always have Biafra, Oduduwa, Ibom, Niger Delta etc but before that, we must fight as one and then later go our respective ways.

What do you think makes the North to get scared anytime the South challenges them as one? Because they understand that together, they can't win us.

Can't you see they're smarter than you when they always promote one North despite all the killings and destructions against one another there but in the South where we respective each other, at least by not killing one another, you still can't forge a common front to achieve your aims.

Now, that's the biggest irony I still can't understand. Propaganda aside, Oduduwa has all it takes to be among Africa's greatest nations. They have absolutely nothing to lose but everything to gain. Especially now that the oil era is almost over.

The economy of Nigeria is more or less lopsidedly based in the Lagos region and breaking up Nigeria will give them the opportunity to provide jobs for their people since policies can be put in place to disenfranchise other nationals.

I think they're just afraid of going to war but they forget you can't make omelette without breaking eggs. What is at stake here is our collective survival as Southern Nigeria and to save our coming generations from bondages, sufferings and slavery.

I have also considered the stakes and realized that core North won't give up on their stranglehold on Southern Nigeria except they are forced to. The way Nigeria currently is, is Utopia to them since they know they're getting everything absolutely free from Southerners while equally using us as slaves.

Almost everything of economic value is domiciled in the South while the North controls it all. The seaports, oil and gas resources, economy, human resources etc are all in the South while the North is almost collapsing under the weight of overpopulation, abysmally low productivity, poverty, all indices of development/growth in the negative, banditry, Boko Haram and near anarchy.

Virtually all the sectors that earn Nigeria its fame are in the South such as Nollywood, music, sports, diaspora exploits, economy and industry, natural resources and all positive human development indices.

The North will automatically sink into failed status the day South breaks away and they will become obscure like Niger, Chad, Mali and other Sahel countries, only to be remembered because of the activities of Islamic terror groups.

All these realities I mentioned above is not lost on them and that's why would rather die in their millions than allow South to peacefully break away.

That's the sad reality but should the South fight together as one, they will defeat the North in war with absolute ease in the long run. We have the brains and resources to rout them and they will be at a serious disadvantage since they won't have access to the sea to bring in heavy war equipment.

Also, with a largely poverty stricken populace that will sink deeper into crushing poverty, coupled with Christian minorities that will rather fight against them and break free than fight on their side, they won't be able to resist for too long before giving up.

The South is just a willing slave with terribly selfish politicians who allow themselves to be manipulated. The North is only relying on propaganda and manipulation to scare South from uniting and fighting them.

The fulani herdsman will simply walkaway and if it the man tries to stop him, he will either pull a knife or threaten him with his AK47.
