The emboldened is non-existent with United Capital. To invest in the Eurobond fund of any of the investment houses suggested above, including UNITED CAPITAL, you have to source for your own USD.
In addition, the USD is to be transferred from an off shore account as there is restriction on transfer from one Nigeria Dorm Account to another. Also, cash deposits into an investment accounts is not allow.

Hello,
Which MMF will you advise someone with N30m readily available to go for and the investment house with the best rates?
The whole aim is to have the fund there while I wait for stock prices to fall considerably, then liquidate the fund and invest in the stock market.
I can wait for as long as it takes the Nigerian stocks to fall.
Emmasoft, Ewumi et al, kindly assist.

Thanks
For ease of withdrawal, I will suggest you do MMF with it. I use Stanbic, United Capital and FBNQuest. There are all good.

Please I would like to know, if one buys FGN Bonds from SC, will such investment be shown on CSCS?

Also, is it possible to automatically reinvest the coupons, or they get paid into one's bank account?

Finally, is the bank (SC) also the medium through which one sells at the 'secondary' market in case of need for liquidity?

Thanks in advance.
For your first question, it does not show on my CSCS account. The truth is that I just opened a bank account with them through the app and discovered they are efficient, reliable and have investment products I could subscribed to if interested; Like Bonds, TBs and Mutual funds local/int'l. So it's not that I actually opened an investment account where I was required to get a CSCS account or provide 1.

On if you can automatically reinvest coupon, I have not done back before because I have not had a need to so I cannot be certain. However, I think that will be subject to availability of the bond and the willingness of the subscriber to accept the prevailing market rate if available.

On your final question, that is an easy yes. The same page houses the buy and sell options. It is left for you to select the one you want. That said I also feel this is subject to availability of bids and offers too.

Modified

I think Oga Emma has dealt the question effectively. That should allay whatever fears you might have.

Something seem to be terribly wrong with Stanbic IBTC these days. I read where someone complained about his/her her deposit not been credited to his/her mutual fund account last week and I thought it was just a glitch that'll soon be resolved.

Can you imagine that I made a transfer to their collection account before 9:00AM on Monday morning but till today, Friday my account is yet to be credited? I sent a mail to them about it on Tuesday they received but did not act on it. Then I had to call the lady acknowledged and promised to forward it but up till now my account has not been credited.

Na too much customer dey worry them so ooo?

I got this offer for a commercial paper from my stock broker. I haven't done CP before so I will appreciate contributions in understanding how it works. I have the following questions.

1. Are yields usually not stated as seen in the picture?
2. If the discount rate isn't the yield, why them was it included in the offer.
3. Can one extrapolate what the yield will be based on current yield for similar bonds with same tenor of 270days or 9-months.

Thank you.
Now that the picture is here, we can now see what we are discussing.

1. Yes, yields are usually stated the way it is there. However, I think it should not have been stated. Why? because the yield should precede the discount rate.

2. The discount rate is not yield. It was not included probably because they are yet to concluded on it. As you can see, TBC (To be Confirmed or so) is written against the discount rate column.

3. Yes, it is possible but I am not sure you will get any 9 months bond with this high yield even if it's corporate. Bonds are usually of longer tenures so any one seen at 9 months should be at it's final phase to maturity and thus, would have a much lesser yield. The appropriate instrument of comparison with CP is TB where similar tenures exists.

I have and they are very good. Good enough they are the lead arranger and not some stock broker so you won't pay service charge or commission. However, your interest may be taxed if it is not exempted.

If you are fine with the discount rate then you can give it a try. There's usually a link attached to the mail sent to where you can view their financial reports and ratings for your due diligence.

Pls house, what is the current maximum transfer limit per day in Nigeria as @ June 2023
It depends on how and where you want to do the transfer. I think from the Banking Hall it is limitles. However, from the Mobile apps it is dependent on the limit you set. Most apps have 500k and 1m as their default maximum limit. You can increase it from there to 5M or 10M Maximum on request. Then if it is through ATM some can allow 150k, others 200k and 250k Max depending on the bank.

I got one of this from there last year that is very good and even better than the Original Yoobao I bough for a more expensive amount back then. Thus, I just added another one of it to my cart that I am yet pay for.

However, I don't know if they mixed the original of it and the fake together because I am also seeing some negative opinions/reviews of it there. So it's a kind of 50/50 think..

is it possible to invest less than 5million on any commercial papers? if yes , how

Most times, the least amount they require is 5M. However, once in a long while you might see something lesser. I have seen 2M before but it's not easy to come by these days.

Good day, sirs and ma. I moved to Abuja to work as an Administrative assistant at (name withheld) close to Galadinmawa. The agreed pay with my employer was 50,000 which I accepted because I don't want to stay idle and I wanted to garner experience.

The Friend's house I stay is in Kagini. Those that know Abuja will know this place. The transportation cost from the house to my place of work is 1,100 and coming back same, which makes it 2,200 every day excluding Saturdays and Sundays.

After crossing my T's and dotting my i's I found out that The total cost is 2200 x25 days= 55,000 with a 5,000 deficit. The organization provide light breakfast and lunch. So, my food is a bit covered.

I am just confuse now. I talked to the organization for a pay rise but they gave me a stiff neck.

Please what will you advice me to do. I am seriously frustrated with the look of things. Do you think it's worth it.

P.s. I have worked for a month there now. I am scared my friend will complain that I am not contributing.

. I'm drained and frustrated.
The issue is that you said you are squatting with a friend which implies that you are either not very good with your way around yet or you do not have the means to get your accomodation right now.

If the former is your case, then I will have to that Galadinmawa is a habitable suburb. You could still houses with decent rent around there. Staying around there will reduce/eliminate TP to work from your spendings. To be frank, Kagini and Galadinma are lengths apart.

If the later is your case, then you will still have to discuss your situation your employer again and this time, instead of pay rise, discuss the possibility of getting an accomodation with them.

What does discount rate and Implied yield mean

How do I know the interest I am getting?
This is how I see it from my layman point of view. Professionals can define them better later.

I see discount rate as the actual amount of money that's discounted as interest when you invest while Implied yield is the amount/rate you are expected to get if the interest is invested with the principal.

This is how I calculate..Using the picture attached, if I am to invested N1,000,000 in the Series 10 CP, The discount rate is 14.7181% for 268 days.

What I will simply do is to carry my calculator and press;

1,000,000 ÷ 100 * 14.7181= 147,110

147,110 = 365 (Number of days in a year) = 403.041096

403.041096 * 268 (The actual days of the investment) = 108,015.014.

Your Discount rate is N108,015.014. Barring any transaction charges.

This discount/interest rate is given at the begining of the investment. If was given at maturity it will be the actual interest rate. However, since it paid at the begining of the invest it expected that it would have earned same percentage of interest if invested along the principal and that would have resulted in higher interest.

If you started from Treasury Bill or FGN bonds investment before trying the stock market, please identify yourself.

Such people tend to be better investors, they learn the trick faster, they understand the importance of investment income in compounding the portfolio and have better risk management.

My opinion though
We dey here ooo..Na just look we dey look first make e no be like say we dey take sides. A lot of newbies that just entered and have made small gain will not understand the caution till they are left to carry the can. No matter how much gain an insurance stock will give in this Nigeria I will never touch it. Not even Mansard. That's personal for me.

No matter how much caveat you put on noise, some people will want to follow the noise because that's what they see/ hear at the moment. So it is necessary to have dissenting voices to reduce the noise and also make newbies intending to invest ask necessary questions. That's how it should be. It should not be seen as an attack rather it should just be looked at as different shades of opinions, nothing to quarrel about.

Some people I told physically based on Pa Emma's advice not to invest in Digital Agriculture and HYIS then, are presently part of the group visiting 101.1 FM in Abuja seeking assistance on how to get back their capital. (The return of the capital is better than the returns on the investment).

Normal you should have indicated that the interest be paid to a particular account while subscribing.

That said, it's two ways. You can request for redemption of the interest amount on your app if your security question is already set or make the request through a branch Stanbic IBTC Bank.

Thank you.

I understand the COUPON RATE as simply the interest rate, which is always annualized.
Yield to maturity is the total rate of return that will have been earned by a bond when it makes all interest payments and repays the original principal.
YTM is essentially a bond's internal rate of return if held to maturity.

Thank you.

You're right, the 2024 bond is not on sale as the link for BUY is not highlighted and not clickable.

Still a little confused about YIELD TO MATURITY.
Before financial experts and statistician come for further clarifications.

Let me try to explain with my little understanding. The coupon /interest rate on the FGN Bond 2025 you posted to be splitted and paid bi-annually is 13.53%. The actual amount for that bond when auctioned was N100. The amount they are asking for it now is N107.240. If you buy it at this rate now, you have paid extra N7.240 for it. Even at that, the coupon/interest rate will not change.

For example, If you are to invest N100,000 you are expected to get N13,530 annually to be splitted and paid N6,765 on the 25 Mar and 25 Oct yearly. Now if you buy it at that asking price, you will pay N107,240 to get the same N13,530 annually.

I think they are to do the SETUP with temporary password and send you the details. Then you will change the password and also set your security question and answer incase you may want to do online redemption/withrawal later.

If your account is set and you have gotten the number, you can contact them for the web/app login details.

Guys please i have a question. If i invest in mutual funds, is my capital at risk or it's only the interest and/or interest rate that flunctuates. I need clarification please.
It depends on the particular mutual fund you choose and the assets it is invested in. Any mutual fund that is majorly stock based like Stanbic IBTC Nigeria Equity Fund, Balanced and Imam Fund can loose it's interest and even eat into the capital too when stocks are down. Same way the interest can skyrocket when the grass is green. However, mutual fund that is majorly based on money market and fixed income assets like Stanbic IBTC MMF, Bond Fund and Fixed Income Fund does not affect capital and interest already earned. However, the expected interest could decline based on the prevailing market condition.
