FamilyRe: Boy's Converstaion With His 'Deadbeat' Dad About Christmas Gift Sparks Debate by freeman67: 4:34pm On Dec 29, 2022

The woman probably poisoning his mind overtime. And the man actually messed up for bringing their mom up on that discussion. If it was me I would play my part very well and no matter what he's been fed with he will eventually find the truth of the whole ish. I pray I don't get to find myself in such a horrible setting
Let's not assume it's always women poisoning mind children's overtime. Most times action speaks louder than words. One can not always justify not tending to his offsprings with flimsy excuses like your mama made me mad, then later in life if the child is successful he will now want to come and be entitled to a part of his success.

No matter how a woman try to poison a child's mind, unless the man is cut off completely there is no way the child won't remember the little things he does for him/her.

The only area I see in that conversation is the tone both of them used. I will assume the dad did know better too. The son should have been more respectful who else is to teach him? From the look of things the mother cherish anyhowness too. She is happy the boy is on her side instead communicating respectfully or she trying to instill some good manners in him.

What's MMF,Money Mutual Fund?
MMF is Money Market Fund.

Plus10:
Mutual fund
Mutual Fund is a collective name for investment vehicles consisting of a portfolio of stocks, bonds, or other securities, overseen by a professional money manager.

There are different types of Mutual Fund. The type of mutual fund is dependent on the underlying assets. So yours is probably a GIF.

Not only doctors. Mine too was subsidised. That's why I appreciate Nigeria for it and I am putting in my best to give my fellow Nigerians satisfaction where I work.

Anyone have an idea of the salaries of doctors in Nigeria?

Or if you are a doctor in the house you can give us an answer.
Doctors in Nigeria are like the lecturers. They don't receive salary from just one source.

The ones in the hospitals of other government establishment are paid more than other staff in that establishment even when on the same level. They will coin one payment structure called CONMESS that is above all others. Still e no dey do them.

They will always go and do their private practice outside or even build their private hospitals and be referring patients there for better payment and concentration/attention to the patients.

They are so quick to recount how poor their reward is in Nigeria and how much more they make/could make abroad but will never tell you how much more it will cost them if they were to acquire the education they got with peanut in Nigeria abroad.

They think of only themselves as humans and more deserving of anything and everything more than every other person. They do not even consider the pharmacists and nurses that work with them as anything let alone other people/profession.

For doctors reading this; please note that every other services rendered to you other than the health services you render is much more subsidised than even your medical services. The money you pay to plumbers, mechanic and even your house helps here are in compared to what obtains elsewhere.

I don't know.
I don't recommend GTbank for TB investments.
They use an outside company for customers TB investments which is kinda strange.
The customer should only be dealing with GTbank and the federal government of Nigeria.
I do not understand what you mean by 'GT use an outside company for TB investment'. It's been a while I have done it with them, so I wouldn't know what the norm is now.

However, there is a party more to TB than just the bank and FGN. There is also a custodian.
'A custodian bank is a financial institution that holds customers' securities for safekeeping to prevent them from being stolen or lost. The custodian may hold stocks, bonds, or other assets in electronic or physical form on behalf of its customers.

If you have a proof of investment or Certificate for any TB done, just check through the charges. You will see custody fee of 0.1 % per transaction.

Some banks have custodian subsidiaries, others don't. Also, an investor can decide to choose his/her own custodian other than the one choosen for him/her by the bank.

Damn bro!

Why do you people make mistakes like this?

They're so many challenges in life and now you have added this one to your life now embarassed

I hope you find the strength to carry on because it won't be easy at all. The very day you saw the test results that you are positive, your mind has stored it forever, there's no amount of thing you'll do that will make you forget about it. You'll always be worried about it. That's why sometimes, I hate my mind, they're so many things I wish to unlearn, erase and forget but my mind can't erase it so it's stucked in my mind .

(PLEASE DON'T FEEL SOMEHOW, I JUST WANT TO TELL A TRUE STORY THAT HAPPENED IN AUGUST 2021)

I know somebody that likes sleeping with anything wearing skirt, he visits Ashawo house like 4 times every week, he's a young handsome guy, he's 23 years and has a gas filling shop not far from my house, me and some other guys decided to pull a prank on him, or should I say a lesson that will put fear in his body because we wanted him to stop womanizing.

One of us had a sim he picked from the ground sometime ago and was only using it for cheap data plans, we used the sim to text this our guy posing as one of his girlfriend/hooker that he should try and go for test that she found out that she's HIV positive.

The next day we decided to go to his shop, I stopped my guys and told them we shouldn't just go like that, my cylinder was about finishing, so I carried my cylinder in disguise that was what brought me to his shop, though I had intended refilling my cylinder but because of this I had to do it that day.

So on getting there, we all hailed his name and stuffs like that, but he was very moody, we all knew it was that text we sent to him but we all pretended as if we had no clue, we kept teasing him but he was so dull. I jokingly told him "Guy, I no say na money dey worry you, no worry E go come before this year end" he just said "baba, no be money oo" I asked him what's up, he just kept sighing and stuffs like that.

Me and my guys left after he was done filling my gas cylinder. So, after some days, I went back alone since I'm more closer to him than the other guys, this time around his eyes was red and he was still sobing.

In his words he said "Argh! I won die bro, I won die!" I asked him what was the problem, I still thought maybe he was afraid he might have contracted the disease or something, To cut the long story short, he had gone for the test and it turned out he was positive, he said he went to 2 different hospitals.

I feel guilty for him somehow cry because he wasn't even aware he had HIV and I did it to help him abstain from sex and hookers not knowing he got hit by the disease already. He opened up to me like everything how he regrets his life and if he had known, he wouldn't have been such a d!ck.

I bet you, till today, he hasn't gotten over it, even though I see him laugh and gist when we sit out in the evening, he tells me he goes to bed with regret and cries his eyes out, that he only tried to forget it with laughter and highness but he still comes back to reality mostly when he's alone.

He told me if there's a permanent cure for it, that even if it will be the reason he does blood money so he can afford the fee, he'll do it.

MODIFIED: I see people quoting me as if I don't know people can get HIV through other means other than through sex, like wtf is wrong with all these Nairaland online professors and doctors? undecided

How can someone buy treasury bill from primary market and what are the requirements. Thanks
Your can invest in it through your bank or investment house.

The requirement is having money in your account and knowing how long you want to invest it between 90, 180 and 365 days.

To place your own bid, that money will be Upto 50M. For lesser amount, you will have to go with the bank bid.

TB PM auction is mostly twice a month. You will have to indicate interest by filling the form or writing the request ( depending on your bank) in your bank at least on Monday morning of the auction week.

I have a Stanbic ibtc account, can I do this on their mobile app or I must visit the bank?
No, for Stanbic and most banks, you will have to go and fill the forms in the banking hall . The only bank I know of that you can subscribe through their app is Standard Chartered Bank.

.

Sir, I will just like to know how best to maximise profit either through treasury bills or mutual funds.

Also, I took a break from treasury bills while the rates was low....Now I realise that the rates you get from secondary buy is way lower from the government rates from the primary auction(access bank particularly).....and they dont even know if i could put in for the primary auctions...I will like to know what banks you know and use for bills where one can put in for the primary auctions....and if there is a branch of access bank I could put in through.... Thank you sir.
It's been a while I did TB. I migrated to the more risky commercial papers instead because of the low rate.

However, I was maximizing my TB and MMF in 2 ways. For TB I do majorly re-investment of the interest in the same auction. If it is pro-rated or they mistakenly did not investment the interest, I will just move it to another investment option which is could be MMF or savings bond which gives me better rate. I like MMF more because it gives me some form of liquidity. It allows me move money faster than the rest.

For MMF too I do choose reinvestment of interest when subscribing. So that when it's time instead of paying the interest and removing WHT. It is better reinvested. Then you will not have to pay any tax and you can withdraw at will depending on your asset manager. Then I also use MMF as a means of gathering my loose change (small money) to gain gain small weight before I put it in another vehicles that I see as more profitable and requires more capital.

As for, that's why I open as many accounts as I can and time permits me to. I have about 7 banks accounts. Not because I have money in them but because I don't want to be tied when I need them for issues like this.

Banks like First Bank, Stanbic IBTC and GT the far distant 3rd are more TB friendly from my personal past experience. Access is poor. Either primary or secondary market you should get better rates from them than access. From my own experience, access is only good in frivolous charges. Nothing more.

Then, there is standard Chartered Bank that also is seamless. Once you have their app. Activate the investment section of it where you can see their rates on TB, Bonds and several mutual funds. Their daily rates are displayed in the portal for you to confirmation except where they have non available or the network is bad.

Please bankers in the house, I need help with this.since last month I have observe strange stipends alerts in both my accounts.

It started with my business account last month that I opened, I thought it was a mistake, as I don't remember doing transaction with anybody by that name.

Pls note that, all my transaction money are paid into my daily account, whilst I transfer the money into my business account.

Moments ago I got another token alert again, I m getting scared.could it be possible that someone is using my acct for fraud or something by disbursing cash into my accounts?

To be honest I m worried, I don't want my acct to be flagged, pls help me.
Under normal circumstance, the right and proper thing to do is to go to your bank and make a formal complain. That is, you will write a letter and have maybe a snap shot as an evidence.

However, you are a business person and as such money could be paid to your account by a customer through a different account or even a POS agent account that does not bear the same name with your customer. So everything will have to be properly sorted out before you lay the complain.

If you rush to lay the complain and you eventually discover that the money is actually for you, you will go through a fresh hassle to get it back.

So, I will advice you to note down the various amounts and dates paid. Then leave the monies in the respective accounts paid to. Even if you are doing any transaction just don't consider it as yours. Just leave it there.

If it was mistakenly paid to your account, it will eventually be discovered and you will be contacted for the withdrawal. When contacted, if you are sceptical you can then go to your bank for vertical/ confirmation and then authorise the deduction.

Good day. I need to understand something please. What's the difference between going to bank to buy tbills and let's say putting the money inside StanbicIbtc mutual funds.. Is it not the same cbn Treasury bill rates they both use?

Also, must you wait until you get news of an auction before going to the bank to buy treasury bill?
Before I would have just ask you to read the beginning of this thread and the other thread for mutual fund for better understanding but lots of pages have piled up so it won't be easy.

1. As an intending investor, yours is to look at Treasury Bills as a short term government debt. Meaning government borrowing money from you that is willing to invest now for certain reasons and at the end of the day pay you a certain percentage for that money borrowed. Though it is through the banks and other financial houses that the money is collected, the borrower, end user or benefactor is government.

While you should look at Stanbic IBTC mutual funds on the other hand as the asset management arm of Stanbic IBTC collecting/ pooling money from you and other investors to invest in different classes/types of asset (depending on the mutual fund) on your behalf.

2. They don't usually have the same rate. TB Rates are usually guided by the CBN MPR. While mutual fund rates is dependent on the underlying asset class of the particular mutual fund.

3a.For treasury there is primary market auction which is scheduled for every 2 weeks (Here you have 90, 180 and 365 days tenure). The auction day of the week is mostly Wednesdays so you can just go to the bank on Monday of the auction week to put you request.

There is also secondary market auction which could happen every week day depending on the bank and availability of TB disposed to be auctioned. Here the tenure you get is the tenure available. It could be 356, 10, 27, 18, 99 or 63 days etc. Any tenure less than 364 could be available. It also limited to particular time frame. Eg The last I know of Stanbic is from 10 am - 1 pm.

b. For mutual funds you can invest anyday, anytime. It is not particularly tenured per day. You could deposit and withdraw at will.

Hello

I subscribed for Stanbic IBTC Instant account online, I made a payment of 5,000 but I was neither giving access details nor payment acknowledgement

What could be wrong, seems their Instant Account does not function and seems like a red flag
There are very poor in instant opening of account be it bank, asset management/mutual or stock broking account. Also apart from their bank's customer service that you can get on social media, through call or within the banking hall, the remaining of the arms are very poor in customer service too. It is only their pension arm I don know of because I don't use them.

This supposed instant account will take a little time. Then if you decide to go through the banking hall hmmm it could take you like 2 weeks unless you know someone there.

The only good thing is that when the account is fully setup, you can use their services yourself without having to contact anyone again. Depending on the weight of your investment and how well you can keep to normal terms and conditions.

Please what do I do in this situation? I feel scammed by Stanbic IBTC
First of all do you still remember the exact bank account you gave while opening the account?

If yes, request for the statement of that account from last two weeks of September to the end of October and carefully peruse through. If that is done and you still didn't see it, then check your other accounts too just to clear your own side.

If that is done and you still didn't see it then, request for the account they claimed to pay and send them the account statement as your evidence. They may have made mistake and paid the money to a wrong account number. If so, the headache is theirs to carry not yours.

their rating is A-, WHAT DOES THAT MEANS? I THINK IS A IS POSITIVE AND BETTER
Yes A is positive. I have also tried to contact the Coronation Merchant Bank agent that sent me the e-mail advert/info and he gave me reasons it's not a bad idea.

1. The issuers have to meet the stringent conditions set by the regulators before coming out.

2. The dealer/joint arrangers marketing on their behalf have to do their own due diligence too because failing to meet will also put their own reputation at stake.

3. The company though new, have been in existence foot about 5 years but this is their first time of issuing CP. So it should be easy for them to repay.

I went further to check the profile of the Board members and management team. They seem to have been in the business for a while and would have reputation that they won't want to soil.

That said, the above is just my own personal findings and should not be taken as an investment advice. Interest investors should invest based their own personal conviction, please.

There is always the 90-day tenor for TBs. I suppose if you bought the one for 360 day tenor and terminate at 90day, your TB will instead be calculated for 90-day. As you have already been paid the discount, your initial capital would have to be affected to reflect the discount for 90-day as against your initial 360-day TB.

I haven't been in this situation before, so my input is also an assumption.
Firstly, TBill interest is paid upfront. So you would have collected all the interest before as soon as the investment starts so if you terminate mid way you will not get back your complete funds.

Secondly, note that the interest of 91, 182 and 365 days interest rates varies. In every rate for all the tenure defers. So a 365 days TB may not be converted to that of 90 days for you except where and when it favour the bank through which you subscribed.

Thirdly, beware that some banks indicates clearly on the contract /certificate of investment that they will be consequences/penalty charge of terminating before maturity. This charges however is on accrued interest as at the time of terminating.

Lastly from me, have in mind that when you indicate to terminate the TB you are asking them to dispose it of to a willing buyer at the secondary market. That sale will be done at the prevailing market rate. It could either be at your benefit or detriment depending on how you bought and what the price is when tying to sell off. So think very well about it, know the pros and cons before committing yourself.

I do hope thisy little contribution will be helpful.

I will defer on the part where you said "na fat wey rub pepper mix" It's not outright fat as you put it. It's mostly flesh. Just that like other meat preparations like 'Kebab' Suya and balangu the sellers don't just remove and throw away fat around here so it it added. However, they also don't just go and select fat to dry.

That said, you can still find that dried meat prepared and packaged in hygienic conditions around.

a friend has some stocks purchased through cashcraft. he can't even remember all stocks and qty purchased.
please he needs advice on how he can access his stocks.
thank you
To know the stocks and qty he purchased through Cashcraft, he should just register on CSCS portal for access to his to check. This is very easy. As easy as just mailing contact@cscs.ng to make his request or check https://portal.cscs.ng for more details on how to registered. He should however ensure he still has the CSCS and CHN number Cashcraft issued him for this to work and some of his personal details used with Cashcraft. As an individual investors this will cost him about N3010 and he will have the access for 1 year. With this, he can login, view and print his statement at will within that one year. If he use same CHN he has from Cashcraft to open a new account he will also see that account there.

Another option is to mail contact@cscs.ng with his details requesting for the of his stocks details. They will tell you what to pay, how to pay and the details will be sent to you for just that one time you requested.

Then if his intend to trade those stocks, they have to first of all be moved to a working stock broker. For me, I will advice you contact MORGAN CAPITAL SECURITIES LTD to open a new account and move the shares there. This is because I have been their customer and enjoy their services. Also, they have helped me moved my shares from the same Cashcraft to Morgan Capital recently. Though it took time to move them because the staff handling it left the firm and didn't hand over the issue to his colleague as supposed to continue the process. It was however, resolved when I made further complaints to them and I can now see the shares in my Morgan Capital online access.

How do you top up your Stanbic MMF without being charged?
They charge me whenever I added funds through the app
1. Get the account number of Stanbic IBTC MMF collection account. You can get it from your bank. It is also part of the document given to you if you open your MMF accoun in a branch/offline.

2. Make your normal fund transfer to the account. It could be from the banking, throughout your internet banking or your mobile app. For me I do not (USSD) so I won't recommend it. Make sure this transfer is done before 12:00pm. It will reflect in your account later that evening. If not the it will reflect the next day.
