Hello guys, I have learnt a lot here but I'd like to find out. I have about 6M+ in my mutual fund. Do you think I'm doing the right thing. I get a daily interest of about 1800 daily. Or I should drift to TB?
I don't know your aim/plan for investment and how much time you have. At least the money being in MMF is better than just in ordinary saving account. However if you intend to save the money upto 1yr it would better to to put I TB reinvest the interest in TB too the use the n put the interest of the interest in MMF.

Good morning House,

I have been observing from ARM in recent times that there are some days i don't get my interest, that I have reported to them last week and my 5 days interest was calculated and added back to me.

Ok, this morning also i notice that my interest of yesterday has not been added as well, initially I don't monitor my investment don't even calculate i started doing that since two weeks and has been noticing lots lapses one wonders what happened in past months that I don't monitor.

My question: Does these Fund managers pay interest on weekends?
Stanbic IBTC normally credit the interest accrued for weekends on Mondays..

Thanks freeman,i'm a bit relaxed now..it got to a point when i started to feel insecure using them for tbills since no one has ever mentioned them here but you are right..not having many branches should be the main reason..also opening an account with them requires 500k upwards..
You are welcome
O boy @the bonded no be small something ooo..
As you will see from discussions on the thread, some of us hear never gather reach their minimum opening balance. I don't thing there is any course for alarm so long as you have a close branch and a way to contact if you are not close.. That's fine..

Gurus in the house,i am a silent follower of this thread,i use standard chartered bank and found out that their rate (primary market) is better than almost all the banks mentioned here but i have not seen anybody mention them from the begining to the end of this thread. Is there any reason why you gurus don't use it? Just being curious!
Reason is that it's not a popular bank.. The branches are limited.. If it exist in some states in Nigeria it would only be one branch. Personally the banks I use are the banks that have branches everywhere you go. In Abuja I only know about 3 of their branches.. For other banks you can find from 8 branches upwards..

How did you people come to the conclusion that it was Chibuking ? Ha! Ha!

1) Chibuking is not the only man here something has happened to.. before Agba tongue left for village he got pretty haircut from honey flour and in a better position to feel what others are feeling now and not come out laughing at them.. So many men here, why single out Chibuking ?

2) Chibuking don’t talk arrogantly.. his post are once in a while with only bonanza talk. Not all of you here who constantly remind us of how market will continue to crash and indirectly laughing at people who are still in the market.

Me I think he’s referring to either You, Agba, Mapeace (who also received an haircut and should understand the pain other are going through) and this guy 4601CE who quote me yesterday to laugh at me but I ignored him because me and him no dey for the same category.. he should worry about his portfolio not mine..
I was going to reply him before he did because immediately I saw that I knew he was already out of line no need to help him shape..

It's people like you acting all childish that make serious minded people leave the forum. Veecovee made an important point, scroll back the pages of this forum and count how many meaningful discussions have been made towards investment.
Forget that thing.. That particular veecovee has never contributed anything relevant other than trying to force his religious believe down the throat of others and he had the effrontery to mock a man whose child was kidnap just because he posts his predictions/opinion of which you are entitled to either heed or ignore and you say someone trying to correct it is childish...

At least we see the bear he talk about happening and these is stock Market thread so what is wrong? I held Fidelity from N1.35 till when it got N4.22 when it started falling I could not let go even when if fell to sub N3.00 I had to sell around N2.35 because of their call. If I had listen to them earlier I would have made more.. Same with the first I had from N7 that got to about N15 and I was clinging onto till it got to about N11 if not for the bear call I would still be holding onto it expecting get a bounce that would not come soon while people make money.. GTB was sold for N50 earlier now it dancing between N32-N33 So is the bear they talk about a lie?

Misfortune in life is not limited to one person. It could happen to anyone even if he is a self acclaimed Pastor.. So we should watch what we say to people.

Good evening fellas. I bought T. B of 1.3m yesterday at first bank for 303days at the rate of 11%, but what I don't understand is this. 117k was credited to Me as interest?? I was thinking of 130k or so? Abeg someone should make me understand Thank u
You are supposed to get N119,036 pre-charges. Whatever is missed I guess is consumed by the charges.

N130,000 pre charges would have been your interest only if you invested for the whole 364days. But now about 61days is already gone so you won't get that.

NOTE: Devoting time to read just the first 15-20 Pages of this thread would make even someone that is just stumbling on this thread today not to ask some certain questions..

Good day all, please, I'm in serious delinma now, I invested into TB in april22 2018, 13%, for 210 days, secondary market, and it's due for November 4, 2018,and I have been paid my upfront interest. But there is something urgent now, I can't wait, till november 4th 2018, so I wana terminate it,please who can show me detailed way I can calculate how much the bank would collect from my principal since I ve been paid my interest already, using 600,000naira, jus for example...please this is urgent, someone should help me with analysis, how he got how much the bank would collect from me ,for liquidating the TB before maturity.thanks for ya speedy response
It is subject to the rate the bank will sell it.. It is better you talk to the bank staff you did the transaction with.

We are looking at the balance of 61-62 days from today. Assuming it is sold back today @ the 13% you bought it you will be collecting back about N13,000. However, I don't even know if it would either be sold today or even at that 13%. It could either be sold at lesser rate which will be to your advantage.

BusinessRe: Urgent Advice Is Needed Please I Got 650k by freeman67: 5:39pm On Aug 27, 2018
truthfulparrot:
The person that gave you such a loan is not a true friend. Infact he is wicked. From my calculations he gave you 650'000 at 5.5% flat rate per month and that is 66%per annum.
With the increasing uncertainty in the Nigeria business environment you may find yourself in the endless circle of debt. Please don't accept such loan for a start up business. That is my one Kobo advice.
Bros when you try to get a loan from any bank in Nigeria..Thats when you will know that you must bring something they will hold onto (incase halfway you are not able to meet the terms) before you are giving.

You can not just walk into a bank and get a loan today tomorrow without processes. Most times civil servants that intends to get loan are first of all as to bring their salary to the bank that is lending the money if it wasn't there before to avoid stories that touch.

This kind of loan benefits those that already have an existing business and are sure of what there are going into. Some times people would invest all they have to import goods and when the goods come in, it would be held by customs. The easiest way of getting money to clear it is with a loan like this. Also sometimes a business man may see an opportunity to make some quick cash but don't have what it take at that moment..infact some will even accept to pay as high as 10% for a month. People give out car on higher purchase too.

That said, op you are to carefully check and see if you can be able to pay back that money before you put yourself in that situation. I am saying this because you seem not to have any experience on the two things you have in mind to with the money when you collect it. So I will advise that for the keys you should ;

* Try and do a feasibility studies to know the average amount a keke rider get daily in the area you intend to ride..

* Be sure that if you minus money for fuelling the keke, servicing the keke and average feeding for yourself. You can get the 3k to give him and at least have a little to keep for yourself too.

* Be sure that you can subdue your pride and go into such kind of venture since you already know how to ride..

* Be sure that you have a safe place to park over the night when you are not riding. etc.

For the food business, if you must do it you will have to go and understudy someone that is already into it for at least between one to three months. At least if you are dedicated and hard working enough the person might show you the techniques in the business since you will not need him to settle you at the end of the day.

In all be sure you think through very well before collection g that money..

na wa for FBN o. Banks generally don't roll over. Why ask customers to return to a branch after many months just to get back their money? A simple box where customers can tick an option to rollover on the application form will resolve this issue.
There is usually an option box on FBN form to tick either for roll over or not when filling but somehow you have to look at the options well before ticking.. Most people don't and as such would end up ticking rollover.
InvestmentRe: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by freeman67: 5:10pm On Aug 26, 2018
aviona:
@gaeul, FBN requires you to notify the bank, at least 3 three weeks (minimum) before maturity. This clause is always written (though in smaller fonts) on their T-bills application forms. So obviously, you did not meet with that condition; hence the automatic roll over of your investment at the current interest rates, favourable or not, with or without your knowledge.
Hope others will take note.
Yeah but unofficially if you can reach the branch you initiated the transaction at least like 3days before maturity.. There can still handle it for you...

Tell him or her the same thing you just told us. If it available he/she will. Some times you can't get the exact thing you want in the secondary market. You can however, get something a little below or above. What I would have ask them in this situation after letter them know I want to invest in secondary is 'what do you have in the neighbourhood of 200 or 300 days?'

If you have a Stanbic IBTC bank account and you do the transfer from there it is free... Because that account is a Stanbic account. Do not forget that after the transfer you will still need to fill a form in that bank that would be sent to Stanbic asset management to notify them of you deposit.

Modify..
You can also scan and send the transfer receipt/proof through online platform by choosing the upload proof of investment option when logged in.

Don't keep your phones in your hand while walking on the street coz it attracts phone snatchers.
Don't make too much money coz it attracts robbers/kidnappers.
Avoid driving cars coz you could get hit by a drunk driver.

NONSENSE!!

If your phone was snatched from you or your property got stolen, would you blame the criminal or would you blame yourself for 'tempting' the criminal??

Isn't it time we realised how horrible it is to shame victims of rape coz of the way they chose to dress?.. last time I checked, only animals are incapable of controlling theirselves, and those dogs should be punished severely!
The last phone I used before this one I am using to type now was stolen from me last December in a vehicle. Though as usual I blamed the thief in the open however I still blame myself in my quiet times for putting it in that pocket instead of holding it because I know how things goes in the area I entered the car. Physically I know that the thief can't stand me in person so he wouldn't have been able to collect it from me. Around the city I leave, it is a common knowledge that whenever you park a car and leave something valuable very visible chances are that whenever you come back you will discover someone tried to break into the car or they already break into and that valuable taken. So in order to take precaution you see people try to either conceal it by putting such thing in the car boot/pigeon holes or going away with it their bags.
That does not mean peoples car have not been stolen or collected at gun after taking all the precautions but some many times most of these hazardous situations can be prevented except in these extreme cases.

If you are my mother, my wife or my twin sister you will know that I take precautions to issue like these seriously. So if didn't take precaution and it happens I will only tell you sorry the same way I will tell an outsider because you are in a grievous situation.... However, I will still believe you would have avoided it if you dressed decently. It not cost anything extra to dress decently..

Is it necessary to fill another application form to buy more funds with SIBTChuh

I already have MMF subscription and wanted to susbcribe to BOND Funds. Walked into their bank and the account officer asked me to fill another set of forms. Sent a mail to their customer care and they also sent me same form.

Since I have a savings and existing MMF account with SIBTC, why should I fill the form again? I think I should just made a transfer to the required new Funds account number.

Has anyone have this experience with SIBTC and is it the norms with themhuh
1 & 2.. I think the operators (Stanbic IBTC) knows what is necessary for them. Even if you intend to do another MMF sef they may still tell you to fill another form. The only thing they do is to for you is to add all your accounts in one portal. So you can view all of them in you online access.

3. I can't say for sure but somehow. The situation is similar to someone who already has a savings account with a bank and desire to add a current account. You will sure pass through the process of filling another form again.

4. I don't know why they always ask for that anyway but I am sure it's their policy. I think after contacting the bank and calling the customer care it is apparent that that is a requirement. It in the account there post your money to so it is necessary they open it first.

5. Yes the first account I had with them was SGIF. After a while I was'nt pleased with their interest so I needed to change to SIMMF.. I had to go through the process. Also, another time I needed to open do a separate savings other than the SIMMF I already had. Yes I was still asked to fill another of such form. It is normal with them.
