Politics › FG Announces Plans To Collect VAT From Market Traders, Informal Sector by Freethinker87(op): 9:45pm On Jul 03, 2023 |
The Nigerian Government through the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, announced the VAT Direct Initiative, a scheme that would enable FG to collect Value Added Taxes from the informal sector and reduce multiple taxations in the informal economy. The FIRS disclosed this in a statement on Monday afternoon, stating that it FIRS is partnering with the Market Traders Association of Nigeria to collect & remit VAT from their members especially those in the informal sector using a unified systems technology. The FIRS is the agency responsible for collecting Valued Added Taxes in Nigeria and other revenues accruable to the FG. MATANThe Market Traders Association of Nigeria, founded in 1995, in the statement revealed that it is the largest player in Nigeria’s informal market space with a membership of over 40 million The FIRS noted that it is partnering with MATAN to collect and remit Valued Added Taxes from their members- especially those in the informal, adding: “This collaboration is known as VAT Direct Initiative, “A collaboration between FIRS and MATAN where MATAN promotes awareness on VAT collection and remittance in the marketplace and informal sector, while also simplifying VAT payment and remittance for the marketplace and informal sector using a purpose-built digital platform. Digital schemeThey also noted that MATAN has a digital platform that enumerates their members giving them a digital ID card and tracks their turnover so that VAT accrued is collected and remitted to the FIRS, adding: “The Initiative is the first of its kind that will utilize technology to foster collaboration between the FIRS and the marketplace for the collection and remittance of VAT. FIRS says this will help tackle multiple taxations in the marketplace through partnerships with security agencies to curb the activities of touts and self-imposed tax collectors. “This will also boost VAR revenue generation for the three tiers of government, which in turn means more money to fund infrastructure and social amenities.” MATAN members will each receive an ID card upon enumeration, which would contain their Tax Identification Number and other personal details. What you should know Nigeria’s Value Added Tax (VAT) increased by 1.75% on a quarter-on-quarter basis, reaching N709.59 billion in Q1 2023. The manufacturing sector accounted for the largest share of VAT collection in Q1 2023 at 29.65%. Information and communication followed with a share of 19.29%, while mining & quarrying contributed 12.24% to VAT collection during the same period. richmond500: All of them can't be presidential convoy, 123 convoys breakdown.
Presidential convoy____about 15 cars Sanwo-Olu convoy_____about 7 cars Commissioners________20 cars Political associates_____20 cars Business associates____8cars Press and media houses____8cars Those looking for appointment__17 Family members________8cars Security_________________10cars
That's more than 115 cars already. When Tinubu celebrated his birthday 2yrs ago, people came with private jets to Lagos too, forget presidency, Tinubu has too much connections and I will be shocked if his convoy didn't reach 100 now that people are looking for appointment and will even walk with him to the bathroom if they had the chance. If you want to check Tinubu convoy, go and count it after all appointments has been given out It is truly bewildering to witness the profound lack of reason in your attempts to justify the extravagant behaviour of the mandate thief, who presides over the poverty capital of the world, yet travels with a convoy of 15 cars. This senseless display is further exacerbated by the fact that you could justify a mere Governor possessing a fleet of 7 cars in his convoy, while commissioners indulge themselves with an excessive count of 20 cars. Such blatant disregard for the suffering of the people ought to deeply stir one's conscience, but some people don't have a conscience. |

sreamsense: This Obi-idiot will not stop disgracing themselves ignorantly. Once they know small JavaScript, they are now IT expert like this ignorant one I quoted. What has auto scaling got to do with security? Every cloud like Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and AWS come up with extensive security measures in place to protect customer data including network monitoring, intrusion detection, and encryption, but those are just basic security measures, you will need to add more security measures for your organization needs from your end.
INEC is a big organization as customer to AWS, INEC must still take measures to protect her own data by setting up firewall rules to protect cloud server and internal Network using hardware&software measures, patching systems regularly, regularly monitoring activity logs especially during election, security audits, setting multi-factor authentication (MFA), encryption and ensuring proper access control is put in place to ensure that data is safe in the event of an attack. INEC will have designated computers and network link to AWS and her IT department in charge
There are several security measures that you can put in place to protect your organization when using cloud server like AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure or other VPS even though cloud service has taken care of some for you, need of individual organization differ and their security challenges differ. One man cloud user may be satisfied with security that came with AWS, but for many corporate organizations extra security measures will still be taken care of by themselves in terms of hardware and software security measure against their Network and server.
During election, INEC engineers and IT experts will have to be vigilant and work specially to safeguard AWS and her own network. They will ensure they stay ON 24 hours monitoring activity logs and intruder access to their AWS server. AWS will never give INEC or other organizations all security measures they need to protect themselves. Basic security measures AWS provided can never be enough for big organization like INEC, they will need to put extra security measure.
Don't allow being obidient to block your sense of reasoning or being over emotional that you can't see reality again. Wait for your AWS engineer to be crossed examined today if she will not ridicule LP/Obi. She can only talk about general AWS status for the day, she can't talk about security measure INEC engineers put in place from their end to ensure no attack is successful on AWS.
You yourself is too ignorant, auto-scaling you are talking about has nothing to do with security measure in this context of discussion it is just about storage flexibility to meet sudden increases in storage demand which is not related to security context of discussion at moment, this has shown you don't have adequate IT knowledge to deal with this subject, you are just Nsogbu, Nsogbu IT-novice. You can even cure your ignorance by just "Google it to find out if you will still need security measure for AWS or cloud in general aside security that came with it" and compare with your statement "... You don't have to create a new security measure..." . Chai! 40 years old man! 🤡 I'm sorry, I didn't bother reading your epistle cos I know it's irrelevant. |

We have too many kids/illiterate in this forum. Just imagine the confidence with which you spewed that thrash out of your brain. You even got people liking your senseless post, they must be senseless like you obviously. Like someone else posited, you be real LOCAL MAN. That security part weak me. Usually I don't reply to nonsense but I just had to. Can you imagine ballot paper printing INEC providing security for AWS. |

sreamsense: Do you expect it to have glitches before? What will be the essence of security measures INEC engineers put in place to secure AWS server? INEC engineer will tell you they resist attacks against the server from their end. And can you even defend internet connectivity issues from device users? LP can't prove this, they are only wasting time. By the time the engineer is crossed examine now, he may make LP feel like mumu You probably know nothing about tech, AWS or server management, but you have a big mouth and an empty head, so? Now let me tell you why your argument is ridiculous. * You don't have to create a new security measure for AWS, AWS has already covered security for you. All you need to do is to activate instances for WAF, auto-scaling, and load-balancing which is standard by the way. * INEC cannot resist attack from the client side as a DDOS attack fictitiously manipulate server request in order to overwhelm the host. This kind of manipulation is impossible on AWS servers due to its auto-scaling module. * Internet connectivity? Really bro? Bro focus on your business, you're too ignorant to be in tech. Neither you, INEC, nor the brightest agbado engineer can logically defend this against a junior developer. Obi is coming! |
Education › Re: Steps For Nigerian Students To Access Loan Scheme by Freethinker87: 10:17pm On Jun 12, 2023 |
This is not how a student loan program is run, rather it appears to be a government racket. Like all things Tinubu, there must be enough loopholes to create a market economy for bribery and corruption. Requiring a civil servant guarantor for student loan applications goes against international norms, where applicants are typically evaluated based on academic qualifications and financial need, not on the backing of a civil servant. Other countries have successfully streamlined their student loan processes, ensuring accessibility for deserving students.
Typically, students with the necessary academic qualifications apply directly through banks, but Tinubu wants students to apply through some ministry while also needing the service of a civil servant to guarantee their application. Nowhere in the world is the application for student loans backed by a civil servant or a judge. Why a judge? Is Tinubu trying to bribe the PEPT judges through this scheme? This stringent requirement raises questions about the government's motives.
Can you all see what I am seeing? |

Same Lagos Ibadan express way killed many Nigerians because some idiots won't approve the Budget
Nigeria benefits from synergy of Executive and Legislative arms... Only fools and enemies of progress want tussle
