In Nigeria, it is when the powers that be have your time that you will be shocked at the number of laws, policies and regulations we have that are never enforced/implemented. As far as it does not favour them or give then an edge they will ignore but once they have something to gain, watch your back. That is what happened with Code of Conduct and former CJN; countless office holders never file their declaration of assets correctly or on time but no one cares until they need to score a major political point. CCB says they have no power to publicise the assets declaration of the President without his consent but they could do that of the CJN without his consent. Leave Naija o! Shitthole! Judeerons32: |

We agree to disagree; I will not engage in any back and forth on the subject. My point is clear as is yours. Fact still remains that bad/failed governance provides the boost for the crazy, desperate criminality in the country; I do not exonerate perpetrators either but the root causes and enabling factors are clear to all. frowland: 1 Like |

It takes only your brand of stupidity to insult a person who hasn't done such to you. It is only a myopic person that thinks that trains are for the poor while planes are for the rich when there are numerous pictures of prime ministers and other highly placed persons in developed societies using the trains daily to work. Go and use the train from Abuja to Kaduna then come back and tell me that it is for the poor. ahiboilandgas: 1 Like |

pfadom: If you have constant running water in your house, you are not likely to hoard water or be bothered with how to get water for basic needs simply because the government, your landlord or yourself, with available resources, have provided clean, potable steady water. Now, what do you think happens in areas without clean, steady water supply? If they steal or even bust water pipes to gain access to water and reduce stress of long treks to fetch water, will you blame those poor people or the irresponsible government that failed to provide basic amenities? Let's not talk of the avoidable illnesses and diseases they are forced to go through.. |

frowland: Mr frowland, take time and educate yourself. https://cdn.networkrail.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Rail_Life_Safety_Guide.pdf Read the information provided by this link specifically page 5 - 7 and understand that electrified rail lines actually have electricity running through them. In fact it gives a summary of statistics for vandals that lost their lives in the process of their crimes through other causes including electrocution. The crimes do not seem to stop but it is drastically reduced because technology plays a key role and my point is that successive Nigerian governments have failed the citizens. Furthermore, like I mentioned in my earliest post, with the provision and maintenance of steady, reliable power, there will be far less persons interested in vandalism of this nature. Criminals remain liable but the government takes the greater share of the blame, take it or leave it. 1 Like |

Goke7: Of course they know the value and that is why they steal it. The point is that they may not be educated enough to understand the possible far-reaching impact of stealing those nuts and bolts. They may never think of issues of possible derailment leading to mass deaths/injuries and that is where my concern is as to the quality of education in Nigeria which ordinarily should open the minds and broaden the horizons of even the least person. That is why majority are fixated on immediate gratification; it is also why they cannot ask questions of leaders who come to spray some money and foodstuff during elections; it is also why some of you keep supporting the same idiots that are trying very hard to block the few educated ones from asking questions in the name of social media regulation and hate speech nonsense. That is why the government will disregard court orders and no one knows what next to do because institutions are manned by the same gullible, uneducated, political lackeys. It is an endless vicious cycle which starts from bad, wicked, selfish governance. 1 Like |

NGpatriot: Aha! Gotcha! Now you are all objective and 'hand-joining' just so that the truth about bad governance will not be said as it will impact directly on that which you support and adore (APC/Buhari) isn't it? Well done sir. 8 Likes |

Perhaps they are not even educated enough or too shortsighted to realise the implications of their actions? They are likely misguided by hunger and quick gains without further consideration and that tells you the education system/well being of citizens is almost completely destroyed. You are one of those in rabid support for this government. This same government engages in photo ops with bandits and bokoharam criminals/murderers who claim to have surrendered after shedding blood for sport. They are merely called misguided youth, rehabilitated, provided funds and reintegrated into society. Why are you then not able to think the same way for petty thieves who are likely unaware of the possible effects of their activities other than maybe the thoughts that they are pillaging FG property as part of their national cake? For your information, the Nigerian masses have always suffered unjustified and avoidable poverty foisted on them by the ruling class and that is the case till date. Now there is impunity as well as brazen shamelessness but if we stop and think of the root causes, we will not be so quick to blame the victims of wicked leadership. Jimi24: 15 Likes 1 Share |

It would appear the border closure did not reach these areas to curb the banditry or these ones are perpetual enemies within...FriendNG, what do you think? |

Hunger and lawlessness at play. Plus if we had a disciplined leadership from 1960 till date, we would have long had sufficient, steady electricity to power our trains and no goat or cow will venture there cos they'd be electrocuted. There'd also be functional CCTVs and honest, loyal, patriotic law enforcement officers that will man those cameras, arrest any would-be thief and have them prosecuted/rehabilitated. In fact with steady power supply and decent infrastructure, no one will be looking for bolts and nuts to scavenge off rail lines. They would be far more productive! Bottom line: Nigeria has failed and continues to fail her citizens. 128 Likes 12 Shares |

Tinubu stooge, I wonder why you quoted my post. Did you see Tinubu mentioned there? Why are you all in a huff to the point that you can no longer read and comprehend? Clearly the court order is against those earning atrocious 'pensions' while still actively working for the government in other capacities but if you were an objective, clear-minded person and not politically blinded with partisan slavishness, you would have been able to decipher clearly the feelings of Nigerians. Fellow citizens are outraged at the sheer greed and audacity of past governors/heads of assemblies that they arrogate life 'pensions' just for being elected to serve 4 or 8 years at the maximum; obviously such nonsense should not exist whether they become serving Senators/Ministers or not and that is why Tinubu and others like him are mentioned. Now read this post you quoted again: freeze001: Barzinime: |

And this is why the state houses of assembly remain permanently useless! They are beholden to the Governor for everything and have no minds of their own until a more superior godfather like Tinubu in Lagos tells them to commence impeachment processes against the Governor! They suddenly then remember acts of gross misconduct against that Governor. This is such a shame really, not to talk of the sheer wastefulness of the exercise. |

Not just on him, it has to be enforced against all past state governors who enjoy so-called pensions in the following states: Akwa Ibom; Lagos; Edo; Delta; Kano; Gombe; Yobe; Borno; Bauchi; Abia; Imo; Bayelsa; Oyo; Osun; Kwara; Ondo; Ebonyi; Rivers; Niger; Kogi; Zamfara and Katsina. I won't be surprised if they start their selective APC/Northern madness sha. Zamfara has only repealed their law but monies have to be recovered from those who have benefited. itsme01: 6 Likes |

This is awesome! Enforcement is the next thing but with the way the cadaver president a.k.a Buhari and co are going including the airplane driving CJN and rubber-stamp NASS...hmmm By February 2020, we will see what the report of enforcement from the FG to the Court is. The AG (Malami) has now been mandated by the court to take action and challenge those demonic laws. I hope he gets serious but again, we know the idiots we have in office now... 3 Likes |

Was it Jonathan that perpetrated the so-called kidnap of the Chibok girls? Why were you all blaming him? If you think it is only when Buhari is seen to physically or directly initiate a process that he will blamed or bear responsibility for then you must be a joker. Is it Buhari that is building any road that y'all like to commend him for in the name of development? Rubbish! Prompto: 1 Like |

It was just plain stupid to introduce a levy on all POS payments above 1000; how many payments are ever below 1k? This policy somersault and indecisiveness is a major minus from doing business generally in the country; the FG and its agencies need to be more proactive and better informed before rolling out/enforcing certain policies. The worst part is that they either ever do sufficiently wide consultations or just deliberately refuse to listen to sound advise until the negative outcome warned about actually begins to happen then they undertake reactionary measures and still find a way to blame ordinary citizens and they never take responsibility. 1 Like |

The presidency and such high offices must be held to higher standards than any other, stop making useless excuses! They represent the face of Nigeria for heaven's sake! Social media is no longer a place for inanities and mere fun. Do you not see how Americans drag Trump when he misspells words on Twitter? And this is him tweeting personally, have you seen official tweets from the US Government riddled by such nonsense errors? Sirjamo: 1 Like |

So why were you worried that Papa Buhari your darling had not distanced himself from GEJ or prosecuted him in some way? Cry or moan all you want, between Jonathan and Buhari, Jonathan is a saint! He has never pretended to be what he is not or held himself out as better than others unlike Buhari with all his self-righteous posturing yet nothing to show. At least admit the truth to yourself even if not to others! FrLukas: 1 Like |

Buhari distance himself ke? It is even a privilege for hm to share same space with Jonathan. Is he (Buhari) not a worse president and greater thief along with his appointees than Jonathan could have ever dreamed of being? That is the scam they used to deceive you people till you moved from frying pan to fire abi? I hope you know that as this monkey holds the cup y'all gave willingly, you can never retrieve it? They will not bomb the area or kill the residents there o! If it is in the South (Niger Delta), they will arrange with Navy and military to come and bomb/destroy the area along with surrounding villages and persons resident there. Where dem see crude for illegal refining if it is not through pipelines laid from the same Niger Delta to that arid region? Or have they started accessing the one they claim to have found somewhere in the north? 21 Likes |
