This group is part of the Civilian JTF, a counter-insurgency group. They were set up in 2013 to fight Boko Haram.

Why dint the South West politicians and Southern President complain and declare it illegal in 2013?

No one would have declared it illegal because Southerners generally have a progressive mindset and understand the importance of security and preservation of life however it can be gotten. However, the Northern hypocrites I see you are holding brief for have played their hands now more clearly than ever before. More discerning persons had long seen their antecedents and raised the alarm but now, other slumbering Southerners have been forced awake and can see the writing very clearly.

For the current Northern government to declare illegal in the South, that which operates freely in their own domain, they have clearly shown their agenda. No more dulling from the South again, one Nigeria is not by force and neither is it compulsory. Regional governance is also very welcome and will come to pass as the islamic north thinks they must be lord and master of all

This dead criticism of yours, can it make Buhari turn around or leave office? When you and your crew were supporting like rabid dogs refusing to listen to reason nko? Now you are a lone voice, sounding silly! Can you mobilize the way you did before against Jonathan? Try it and let Buhari you chief and master give you Sowore treatment three times over! You even still actively supported the idiot for a 2nd term so what is the noise for really?

You deliberately support a despot, hail him to the highest heavens, hand over all powers ans resources of government through rigged elections while cursing out others then turnaround today to wail as what? Some important piece of dog crap?

This just shows your utter disregard for life! So one or five deaths is not enough to take decisive action? It is until it gets to hundreds and thousands before you think people should talk/take action? You are busy saying that Benue and Plateau are not talking of internal policing but it is the SW. Is that supposed to some kind of commendation or what? Even the vigilantes they equipped in Benue, the Army disbanded them and started arresting them whilst leaving the armed herdsmen free to continue in their evil crimes. How many herdsmen have been arrested, tried and jailed?

Yet we see cases of indigenes being charged to court and sentenced for killing fulani thieves and criminals that invade their farms and you still expect people to remain as sitting ducks when the signs are clear for all to see? Who has been held responsible for the carnage by herdsmen in Nimbo, Enugu state since 2016?

@the bold: Yes, it's just you! Their own people more than Christians? Are there no Christians in the North too?

Witchersunited:
Maybe it's me or somtin

Do people bother to check things

False alarm and panic everywhere, see south west that nothing happens to talking about regional Police, how many people died in South West? Look at the case well and u will see that the vigilante group is a tribal affair, benue that has suffered alot aren't even talking about policing, it's Lagos with only 5 deaths

Are you also too dumb to realise that the Governor of the CBN is actually SS as far as geopolitical arrangements are concerned in this country? What is wrong with you? Besides, compared to the nepotistic appointments Buhari has been indulging in since 2015, why should any sane person complain if they are both SE? These checkpoints expose civilians and humanitarians to heightened risks of being killed or abducted. I urge all parties to the conflict to protect the civilian population, including aid workers, from such grave violations of international laws, especially women and children who are among the most vulnerable and are caught up in the violence

Doesn't say they are Boko Haram.

They could be local vigilante groups for all we know.

The humanitarian community is troubled by the increasing trend in vehicular checkpoints set up by non-state armed groups along main supply routes in the states of Borno and Yobe.

Did you see the bold part? You didn't deliberately exclude/ignore that clear description did you? Besides this is the UN speaking and not some obscure group or organisation. They certainly know the difference between vigilante groups and terrorists who are always identified as 'non-state armed groups'. Neighborhood vigilantes do not fall under such description.

Politics / Re: Ijare, Ondo Seizes 150 Cows For Destroying Farmlands by freeze001(f): 10:24am On Jan 17, 2020
And where is your consideration for the farmers in all of these? By driving those criminal herdsmen away from that community, they are completely prevented from destroying farmlands, simple! Sell cattle with their consent? Did they destroy crops and farm produce with the consent or even consideration of the farmers? You talk of another cattle investor, did you consider the fact that some of those farmers may have taken loans or work for a land owner and will also take some farm produce after harvest and sale as payment? How do they repay loans and explain to the investors? What about the families of the farmers that depend on the produce at harvest season?

When EFCC seizes a property is it with the consent of the owner? As the property is tagged a proceed of corruption so are those cattle, they fed fat of the toil and sweat of another, that is stealing, not necessarily corruption, The absolute justice is to seize them, sell them and hand the proceeds of sale to the farmers. The consent of the criminal herdsmen is not needed once their crime is established and their consent is certainly not needed.

DaBullIT:
That's not real justice , that's emotional justice and more often than not it causes more damage

You can't completely get rid of anybody , you can only prevent them from destroying your farm land

You can't sell their cattles without their consent , that would amount to affront and probably fraudulent in the eyes of the law

Herdsmen are not the owners of the cows , most likely there are big men behind them, sometimes even yoruba people buy calf and give it to those herdsmen to rear , the contract is usually if the cow gives birth to two , fulani takes one as payment for all his services so most likely you are hurting another investor by selling off those cows illegally

i also need to point out that nobody will return to Ondo town armed to the teeth , never happened , and won't happen

so i advocate for sensible resolution, not emotional one

Politics / Re: Ijare, Ondo Seizes 150 Cows For Destroying Farmlands by freeze001(f): 3:15pm On Jan 16, 2020
It gets to a point when one gets tired of counting deliberate losses and even deaths; the only option left would then be to completely get rid of the unrepentant sources of those issues and I expect the community to do just that rather than keep going for useless settlements when in less than a few weeks the perpetrators return and are armed to the teeth! The cows should be sold and proceeds used to settle the victims as damages. Since the silly herdsmen have destroyed their businesses/sources of income, theirs should be stripped from them too. That's justice.
DaBullIT:
hmmmmm,

the narrative is changing , yesterday they said fulani men ran away and left their cows , today they are saying the residents seized the cows

either way , as long as nothing happens to the cows , there won't be conflicts whatsoever

IMO , it's better how the cows were seized or taken somewhere , the Seriki of those herdsmen will have to go and negotiate with that baale so they herdsmen can pay for the damages , Yes , i have seen cows damage crops , i have been involved in resolving a dispute like that, it's not always pretty

I pray they resolve the issue amicably , no cows will be stolen or killed in retaliation that's certain , nobody will drive the herdsmen away from the town

But more importantly when farmers and residents want to claim damages to their farm, i hope they do it with fear of God

I see some idiots calling war , blood spill , some even are calling the Ondo people slaves

Well, Yoruba race is not a race of idiots or slaves, we always prefer reasonable resolution and by God you will all be put to shame

Just behaving like Buhari and typical dictators that want to regulate and even shut down social media in the name of 'national security'. Someone records a terrible crime by the state and its officials. Rather than own up and try to make things right, they start trying to trade blame and haunt/persecute one who records such stuff. You’re just an ignorant attention seeker. Instead of always attacking people’s post just to get cheap likes get yourself properly educated on how various organs of government operates.

For the avoidance of doubt, the public accounts committees of the NASS are saddled with the constitutional responsibility of acting on the Auditor-Generals report. You can check section 85 (5) if still in doubt. The Auditor-General doesn’t even report to the president.

As citizens, we should be asking our elected representative in NASS to discharge their constitutional duties and not seeking for ways to absolve them of their duties only to heap the blame of their failures on the president. The president cannot do the work of the legislators for them.

After hailing Buhari and his vicious attack dogs mainly set after opposition party members and perceived enemies, you are now harassing the NASS that has pledged to remain deep in Buhari's pocket so that what will happen?

Unfortunately, the Auditor General’s annual report is not treated with the seriousness that it deserves. The public account committees of the senate and house of reps will simply invite the heads of the indicted MDAS, collect huge bribes from them and throw the audit observations into the trash can.

The effort to fight corruption cannot be successful until audit reports are acted upon swiftly and indicted MDAS sanctioned.

There was no requirement for the 2/3 spread to declare PDP winner of all elected positions in Zamfara where they scored the highest votes after APC. Where Zamfara scored 90,000 and PDP scored say only 3000 votes, would still and was still declared as winner and sworn in. Your assertion of spread was completely untrue and that is why I pointed it out to you clearly.

The requirement in Zamfara was for the party/candidate with the highest number of votes, after APC disqualification, simple! The court did not contemplate spread in declaring the 2nd highest votes winner Governor and it is clear that by calculation, PDP in Zamfara did not meet the 2/3 requirement spread because APC had a landslide victory. It only lost because of the penchant of the party for disobeying valid court orders so the elections and victory were an exercise in futility for APC.

Politics / Re: FG Plans N88m Cook Stoves For Institutions by freeze001(f): 11:30am On Jan 13, 2020
And that is even where the corruption is more alarming and painful because these donor organisations are committing funds to the ministry of environment for the outrageous purchase and distribution of 2000 stoves at the unit cost of N44,000 each. Is that the best way a decent, corruption-fighting government can deploy scarce donor funds considering the level of poverty in this country? There is no incitement, the Buhari government steals both government money and donor funds without remorse!

If this is really about climate change, can you honestly say to yourself that this is the best angle/approach the Ministry of environment can channel donor funds through? Buying and distributing stoves? What is the source of fuel? AT what cost? How does 2000 stoves begin to even cut through the number of extremely poor families who depend on wood and coal as cooking fuels which we ought to be working towards reducing to address deforestation/desertification?
