Christianity EtcRe: Choosing A Husband/Wife: God's Will Or Your Will? by freshera: 3:56pm On Jun 13, 2011
NOTHING LIKE GOD'S WILL IN MARRIAGE cos God cannot guarantee that the person WILL NOT CHANGE (to gay, lesbian, thief, ritualist, whatever).

God can only tell you which one NOT to marry or that there's a possibility with the person. Shikena!!!

You use your brain (if God has given a good sign of possibility), what you can do, God will not do for you.

Just saw this. This might bring up bitterness. Why can't the issue just be buried? It can't be changed and it will only serve to increase the inferiority complex of black people and the superiority complex of whites.
FamilyRe: At 33, Everybody Wants Me Get Married But How? by freshera: 5:08pm On May 25, 2011
There is a reason why we are different from animals. We have brains to help us make decisions. Please don't marry unless you are ready and don't bring a child into this world unless you are ready. Its not compulsory. You are even a man. If I were you, I would wait till I am comfortable, maybe wait till age 40 sef. True.

Life can be hard when you are swimming in money talkless of when you don't have enough. You better take it easy and not listen to people asking you to marry and be waiting for miracle. Let the miracle come first before you commit. As a man, all things being equal, you can have children at any time (you are not under the curse of Eve, lol).

All I will say is that the world does NOT need one more hungry/suffering child, its got enough.

Blazay:
I don't advocate moms being single parents for the most parts, where dads are sole bread winners of a home

The lives of BOTH parents should be felt in childrens' lives. Both should play equal parts in relieving each other from the home as a TEAM.

It helps the children bond equally with BOTH parents. Less chances of divorces that way.

A man that is not used to spending time at home can NEVER bond with his children. NEVER.

This makes him a whole lot more prone to living an eemotionally unstable and nomadic lifestyle. . . and the women ever so willing to be 'single' parents by not trusting the men with THEIR own children upon seperation or divorce

Haba, thats not what I meant oh. By 'it'  I am including myself and people like the man and woman and child below(check links) and notice I put it in quotes. By the way, babies are sometimes referred to using 'it' (without quotes).

Some people have this deepseated belief that people with special features are less than others, some don't even see or don't want to see them. Some believe they may have evil spirits, or that they are not solidly human or that they may transfer their attributes to them. So thats why I used 'it'.

Its such an irony where most African women would readily downgrade the traditonal marriage values as achaic and oppressive but still want to hold on the the traditional sanctmony of marriage. They have forgotten that under such values their parents lived and thrived together in matrimonial bliss.
What matrimonial bliss are you talking about? Is it for just one side only? Abegii. Why do you think some African women are naturally bitter and harsh and most are witches (dem plentiiiiiiiii)? Please face facts.

FamilyRe: Are Girls More Difficult To Train Than Boys? by freshera: 8:01pm On Jan 13, 2011
@OP, children are a bundle to train, they can be trouble in their early days, boys or girls. but one thing is certain. most societies are male-dominated and most of your points are really some stereotypes established and sustained by a male-dominated society. it is why you see that most men avoid successful, intelligent and beautiful independent women. these ones were not given any extra-special girl-focused attention. i am sure they were given equal attention just like the boys.

Male-dominated societies are insecure of the fact that biologically, females mature much quicker than males the same age and this can pose a problem. so they give you that story that girls are harder to train so you need to buy em more clothes, give em money when they want and teach them to care about their looks (rather than intelligence) so they can find a husband easily and settle down to have kids give a girl equal footing as a boy child when growing up, chances are she'll be better off. guys always seem to rough their way through anything growing up, why not give a girl child the same benefit of doubt and train them equally

Don't I just love you Larger?

How long are u married now for ?

If he still depends on you for his stay in the country mayb u shd mk the attempt to threaten him with divorce and see his reaction.

U know wat, try going out wit your girls and stay a little longer than usual if he doesn't get jealous ( most Nigeria men are JEALOUS) or keenly wants to know wat transpired over the night then forget It he doesn't give a flying fucck abt u. U cud as well end the relationship.

Those supporting his man, do u think he intends to live the rest of his life this way? I doubt it. I think he is hanging in there a little longer waiting on wat he is waiting for. Forget the kid he/she can't and won't prevent him from leaving the abydee girl wen d time comes.

Sorry but it is wat it is!
FamilyRe: Washing Husband Clothes! Who's Job The Man Or His Wife by freshera: 8:19pm On Dec 21, 2010
Outstrip:
You Nigerian men should keep fooling yourselves. Quite honestly it is disgusting to me that anybody can say it is okay for a woman they respect and adore to have to hand wash clothes all by herself because you feel "it is not a man's job". Hand washing the clothes for the whole family is a whole day affair. I am sure the man still expects his lunch and everything else just like it was a normal day. How can a woman even respect such a man. A man that has a lawn to mow can obviously afford a washing machine so you have it all wrong with your analogy. Also I can bet money on it that a man that thinks his wife alone should sit under the hot sun and wash his dirty clothes all day will have no problem with her also carrying very heavy things while he watches.
Outstrip it is really not that bad. Naija wives/househelps that I know have always washed at least a bundle of a week's used clothes INCLUDING JEANS AND THICK CURTAINS for at least 6 people in 1 or 2 hours. They are used to it. When the wives get tired, they either get househelps, sisters or washerman to help out but the washerman/woman is a human being too.

Its all about training though. I know people (women) who love washing to the extent that they can collect other people's clothes to wash when they are through with theirs.

My former neighbour used to wash her clothes like 3 times every Saturday morning. It was her hobby. But two months after she got married, her husband bundled her back to her father's house to rest cos she was sick from fatigue as a result of housework. She said the work was killing. Her father had lost a daughter so did not want to lose another so she had to be brought back home to rest. Besides she was already pregnant.

The man MUST always help if needed. Besides not all people can afford big generators to power washing machines.

FamilyRe: Washing Husband Clothes! Who's Job The Man Or His Wife by freshera: 4:23pm On Dec 21, 2010
It can be anybody's job. Anybody who has the power to do it at that moment. As an African I was brought up to belive it is wrong for a  married man to wash his own clothes but later in life I saw and heard of Nigerian men  who did their laundry and ironing exclusively by themselves, some to help their wives some were just being perfectionists.

Seriously women are not some superbeings. Is it not the same husband who will complain that his wife is not being wild and tireless  in bed and yet he wants her to wash his clothes, her clothes, the home's fabrics like curtains and bed sheets and the children's clothes which are always REALLY dirtyhuhHow often are manly jobs e.g. car fiixng, etc required compared to everyday tasks like laundry, etc.?

Please let the woman do it but with much help (if and when it is needed)  from the man. That's what all the plenty food he eats is meant for. A vibrant sex life is better than a perfectly neat home or so I heard.

Common sense should tell you that there is a time for everything and this thread is not for you to show your bible knowledge. Didn't God say not to pass judgement on anyone?!
GBAM! Even the Bible teaches us to be diplomatic and put ourselves in the shoes of the next person/neighbour.

Haba, imagine if you were Bawo's mum/dad, conceived him, carried his preg., delivered with pain, breastfed him, played with him, nurtured him, bathed him, took him to school for the 1st time, etc till now and somebody now says your baby will not make heaven. How will you feel?

Xtians are meant to comfort not pour salt into people's wounds. Please leave judgement to God, even God advises us to be tactful, wise as a serpent.

Please nobody knows the WHOLE picture of how God will judge. If you do then you should have the answers to everything.

Please respect the dead, have some human or xtian  feelings, think of his folks and put yourself in their position like Jesus preached.

What we sow, we will surely reap. For all the kids that did not go to school, because your dad used the money to send you to school in America; for all the parents that could not afford food, because your mother used their salaries to get a tummy tuck; for all the young men that died from joining bad groups because they couldncouldn't a job and have been unemployed for years. For all of these people that all they did was to be unfortunate to be born in Nigeria and your parents caused them agony, may your parents and the next six generations, know agony and may peace never reign in you abode.
DOES GOD EVER REVENGE? Don't think so. Even when He does and for example, the kids maybe have serious migraine ask for forgiveness and get healed?

Or a pastor prays for them to be free of the "curses"? What then happens to the millions of wasted Nigerian destinies? Will God's revenge bring them back or help them as the case may be?

What if they don't have kids huh? (highly impossible though)Thats why the law must take its course. Let them all die now! cry I keep dreaming

FamilyRe: I Don't Just No What To Do Am So Un Happy In This Marriage by freshera: 11:33pm On Nov 04, 2010
The woman should try and appeal to her in-laws as others have said, treat the coming visitors VERY well (she could take a break from work or get help) and do a lot of praying. If it does not work, she should involve her parents and if that fails, she could wait a bit and try more before walking out.

She has to put in her best possible effort since the man took a risk by marrying her against his own mother's wishes and I am sure he must have loved her at least a bit to have done that.

But truly there are some human beings who CANNOT be pleased, the more you stoop to conquer, the more they wickedly and heartlessly ride you. No wonder some wives adopt diabolical means grin to fight back after they have been pushed to the wall. But prayer can work wonders especially if she has a lot of other strong people praying along cos if she is the only one praying, she fit quench grin
FamilyRe: f by freshera: 8:32pm On Nov 04, 2010
If a woman really makes it, everybody will hear of her father's name because whether she is married or not, she is still his descendant. You will see people that do not know her personally but they know her father's name, his occupation, etc grin. If her great great grandfather was a King, they will mention his name in her biography or something.

But of what use is a name or so-called bloodline if the man does not make it or if its not a king's own. There are hundreds of millions of bloodlines/names all over the world from China, India, Phillipines, Thailand,Colombia,Tanzania,Nepal,Peru ,Uzbekistan grin ,Syria,Madagascar, Kazakhstan grin,Cuba, Rwanda,Azerbaijan grin, Belarus,Paraguay,Costa Rica,Croatia,Eritrea,Lebanon,Norway,Mongolia,Uruguay,Albania,Swaziland,Equitorial Gunea, Cape Verde, Russia, Iceland, Canada, Samoa, Monaco, Burkina Faso, Haiti, Uganda, Malawi, Morocco, . . .  , phew! grin. So what makes a particular Nigerian bloodline special?  grin. Also a lot of people both men and women change their surnames or alter it for different reasons.

The most important thing is (whether male or female), the person's life should count. If its a girl, fine, if its a boy, fine.

Artist creates famous landmarks from around the world out of SIX MILLION TOOTHPICKS shocked shocked shocked

By Daily Mail Reporter

His face is the picture of concentration as he painstakingly finishes off Cambodian temple Angkor Wat.
And concentration is something Stan Munro certainly doesn't lack after spending six years building famous landmarks from around the world - using six million toothpicks.

The former television presenter used more than 170 litres of glue as he worked full time on buildings such as Big Ben, Tower Bridge and The Vatican.

He has also recreated Sydney's Opera House, the Taj Mahal and Cutty Sark in 1:164 scale.
The married 38-year-old can take anything from one day to six months to make each building.
The majority of his time goes into research.

He downloads as many technical drawings and satellite images as possible from the internet and scales the rest himself.
Stan's buildings are largely hollow, with just a few structural supports - also made from the toothpicks he buys direct from a wholesaler.

The larger models are made in separate pieces so they can be moved with less hassle.
Stan continues to work on his models at the Museum of Science and Technology in Syracuse, New York, United States.

I don't know anything about anyone of the above points, all I know is our food (vegetables and fruits) is sweeter because its pure and organic. For example, banana, tomato, etc. I wish I ate more fruits back home. I miss Nigeria's organic food and can't afford organic here. chai!  angry angry

but really its not so bad. its just that organic tastes much better. they've a huge variety of fruits and veg sometimes i think some of them might have been invented in the lab grin. Best veg - broccoli and asparagus. anyway, i eat mostly african food;rice and swallows though most of it is not fresh but cooked n frozen.
