@freshp and ask1509,i went to work like i said and mounted the dish at the other side of the building facing east.i followed your laid down procedures and the only problem i encountered was th issue of entering the frequency you gave me which is 12551v,i tried but it kept changing to 54,56 and so on though i finally got it after PHCN hammer me.i have 16 working channells out of 35.please which way foward cos i thought with my dish size i should get more than that.thank you for your help.

for you to view the remaining channels you will have to possibly buy the card of the provider . . (Infinity TV) and maybe their decoder.
to enjoy more channels you need to motorise the dish using H-H motor and im sure this link will help you to know what im talking about.(note that i've not personally done this before -i use a 2.4M motorised mesh dish - )

I have a 90cm dish and a smaller one making two- I was using to get some east africa station (they call it madagasca) while the other was for w4

The workings were always troublesome - I didnt enjoy a thing there,

So please what FTA channels can I get with these dishes ? I have a 4663X strong receiver and a dstv one with an unmapped card

I am willing to get another 90cm dish and a different decoder if advised thus, thanks

for starters if you really want real FTA . . then any of the 69 series is a must have . . Mpeg4 is the way for now.
just above W4 is astra 2b with a lot of FTA channels just read the reference thread

sorry i saw this a little l8, You are absolutely correct in getting the 69Z. . . the 2 card slot is normal and dont worry about anything you see written on the remote control . . .it only means that it's branded by MyTV and can as well be used for FTA so carry go.

In addition, based on the arrangement of your crib I'll advise you mount on a pole . . .somewhere where it can face the east . .(Dont worry as long as you do not go beyond 50 to 60 metres).
you just have to try to locate the dish to face the EAST . . .(My brother nothing much in the west o o o )-except if you want to go to the darkside .

this is an interestin connection, though i hav'nt tried this before, i believe it shuld work.  if its successful, u shuld get d stations on both the two satellites on the new decoder. Try it and give the house feedback. Dats d spirit of FTA. Goodluck man.

i equally think so too . . the only snag would be that once the old decoder is off then you wont have signals from that dish.

those days when the HP brand first came out they were the bomb but now its the fakes that are in the market. . including the ones you mentioned. . .
may be you would have to send to lagos o o o.

yeah now that you said it . . a 4 gig hard drive for 2k is just not it. . .it should go for somewhere between 5k and above.

When i test the speed of the usb device, the following also poped-up: usb device is bad performance.
Could it be that my hp-made usb flash drive is a fake one?

i need to ask you a question . . . when and how much did you buy the drive? . . what is the size of the drive . . .(sorry too many I'm asking )
if it less that 1 gig then we may have a problem but to be sincere with you i think yours is a fake one, too bad eh? i say so because i have a 256mb drive that does the job of testing for me and so far it has never failed me.

from your response I'd say you have a bad or fake drive.

I'll suggest you go for any of these brands,sandisk,rundisk,or. . . (kai i forgot the 3rd one oooo),but any of the ones mentioned will not mess you up.

Hi peeps. I have been facing the monstrous challenge of how to record programs on my srt 4669x . Somebody should please, guide me on how to over-come this monstrous challenge cos i have diligently followed the instructions on my operation manual and yet i am not able to record anything on my flash drive from my srt 4669x. Is there any upgrade that i need to do to be able to record programs on my decoder?

1.you need to be sure that the flash drive is an original one.
2.make sure that the STB has recognized the flash drive.(make sure you see "DVR ready "on your screen)
3.when your program of interest is on simply press "rec" on your remote control,you will see "prepare for record'.then the recording would have started.
. . . . you will notice a blinking 'rec' at the top left of your screen. . . .

4.to stop recording press 'stop' on your remote control . . .when asked 'are you sure' make sure you slsect yes on the screen and then press 'Ok'
on your remote control.

the file would have been saved on your flash drive . ,

NB if th flash drive is more than 4 gig you will need to format it to FAT 32 for the 69X to recognized.

5. you can now convert/play our files on the system using Iskysoft video converter.

i wil repeat again , not that i have problem with my 69 but i just want know how long it takes to blind scan with this receiver

i did blind scan yesterday after i read about some people having issues with their 69x , .
the results are fantanstic as far as my setup is concerned.
it blindscanned pretty fast and with more results . . i used NSS7@57^oE.

i equally upgraded mine(69x) with the latest update and its all good . .
my only grief is that i have to see MYtv logo everytime i boot the device. . .

Yes you can do an upgrade on your current decoder but the fact still remains that you would be limited to MPEG-2 and this simply means no access to clear pictures and more birds(especiallythose broadcasting in MPEG-4).

the decoder is already FTA by design . . . its just only branded by MYtv.

as was said earlier just get any of the '69(x,xII or z)series.

you r right,nilesat out there is only trackeable with solid dishes the only one time i saw a mesh dish nailing that bird successfully was when a friend used an "orbitron mesh dish" they dont make them anymore(i think).so in kainji u either use fibre or metal,and its got to be 1.8m and above.
