HealthRe: Glaxosmithkline Ends Operations In Nigeria, After 51 Years by frog12: 6:09pm On Aug 04, 2023
why dem no go leave?
everything in the country is diverted. look at TETFUND. dem tax companies profits 2percent to fund TETFUND, but they distribute the money anyhow. you go see people study PHD in UK with tetfund funds and after, dem no go come back !
they are diverting companies profits to japa.
they use it to fund their lifestyles, buy houses, cars.
what sort of people are nigerians
tenant no go pay rent for years, claiming and begging no money, but the money is being used to build his own house.

this way, GSK is not taxed in nigeria. you supply your drugs to distributors and they pay for it beforehand. GSK is hands off.

the corruption in nigeria is just bad. its just better to keep the business in a stable and corrupt free country like Ghana and just distribute the products to Nigeria.
HealthRe: Glaxosmithkline Ends Operations In Nigeria, After 51 Years by frog12: 5:58pm On Aug 04, 2023
the subsidy removal is what caused all these drug prices to go up

fabolouz1:
The irony is that their products has hits the roof instead of it spiralling down due to their closing shop .
Augmentin 625 goes as high as 15k from 3800 about this time last year .
Ampiclox beecham is now 7k a card from 6h last year.
Panadol variants has gone same way .
This is ridiculous.

so it's a consequence of the new exchange rate. it makes sense for them to just follow a distribution model and reduce operating costs which is too high in nigeria.

I see other multinationals doing the same grin

MeineMutter:
It’s not because they can’t produce at low cost. It’s because GSK doesn’t bri.be.l and there Asian companies do without blinking eyes.

It’s one the reasons P&G left Nigeria.

I worked with GSK for over 10 years as a senior manager and I know the system like the back of my hands.

With the level of Naira falling, the products would be too costly for Iberians to buy because GSK builds one of the best pharmacies products in the world.
We shouldnt forget that the company has billions stock in Nigerian banks which it hasn’t been able to repatriate, for years, due to our CBN policy.

I was sad when I was briefed that there would be an all hands meeting yesterday because I already knew that would be the outcome of the meeting.

I really miss my company.

very funny. na armpit smell you dey look for grin

lesson44:
I am a Nigerian/American, I based here in the US, I visits Nigeria two to three times a year. What the article describes is 100 % accurate in my opinion.
The only missing part is that, the person did not mention how most people smell sweaty. They Don’t use deodorants . I hope they teach that in Nigeria schools as part of a curriculum,It is that bad. Order for room service in hotels , the room smells will change as soon as the waiters enters your room. Some smell so bad, even air freshener can’t mask the smell. Bath three times a day, don’t not matter, if you don’t use deodorant , you are going to smell.

TravelRe: Four Nigerians, Rescued In Brazil, Survived 14 Days On A Ship's Rudder by frog12: 5:19pm On Aug 03, 2023
@ram-a-lot, good to hear from you. na true those madmen actually were found in brazil ??

ramalot:
There seems to be a lot of ignorance here about Brazil. Brazil is not the US, but it's not remotely Nigeria either.

I'm a US citizen, and currently spending 6 weeks in Brazil. I also spent about a year in Brazil, in 2020, as the pandemic hit. At the time, overstaying was permitted, because of the pandemic.

The development level of major Brazilian cities aren't nearly in the same league as Nigeria or any African country, except South Africa. A simple Google image search of Brazilian cities should offer you an idea.

Of course, there are many crappy neighborhoods and favelas, with high poverty and crime. In the same way, I can show you a bunch of slummy neighborhoods in the US with high crime.
The Brazilian economy has had major growth over the last 20 years, even though it has slowed down slightly.

Also, Brazil has a very strong passport. It gives you visa-free access to nearly 170 countries. For comparison, Nigeria's passport gets you to about 55 (mostly African countries).

For anyone who hasn't been to Brazil for at least a few weeks, you probably have a warped view of what it is like. So instead of making assumptions, it's better to look up some vital stats and info.

Here are two pics I took in Brazil (just to add a little imagery to the thread).
The one from the mountain top was in Rio de Janeiro. The other was from my balcony, in Sao Paulo.

i am surprised, they made that trip. these types of people, nothing will convince them not to make dangerous trips, they will still do it.

Reference:
They are lucky that the weather was good. In serious storms they will not stand a chance on that rudder. The forces will simply tear them apart.

these men are a disgrace. disgracing us around the world. can you imagine, a pentecostal pastor that tells people to pray to GOD. he himself did not get any answer from GOD. the problem is once they have done it, they will do it again, and you will see copycats. everything is a state of mind. at their age, they can't live with contenthuh

this is bad, and the brazil they land on, is even worser. worse crimes are in brazil, you become drug dealer.
PoliticsRe: Hannatu Musawa Weeps During Senate Screening, Says She Comes From Poor Family by frog12:
nigerians usually talk rubbish. i will tell you what she did because i watched the video.
she failed to give a summary of her CV which was a mistake and akpabio corrected her but they should have allowed her more time. the dress she was wearing was meant to fool the men into looking at her breasts. that was the mind game she was playing to avoid tough questions. she said her father started as a kolanut seller before meeting aminu kano before independence. so she is not from a poor family.
i know these types of people. they are like diezani. they speak good english but are completely dull when you give them difficult questions. they only know what's scripted for them to say grin grin grin

but that's not a bad thing. she should just be president spokesperson and not a minister. i am not sure if she is qualified to head a ministry. i remember her, she was the election deputy spokesperson for apc.

the woman is not a technocrat

Leo588:
You know nothing. That was a cheap psychology of the mind she used. The north will never give a poor man power
TravelRe: American Tourist Describes Nigeria After Spending 12 Days In Lagos (Photos) by frog12: 1:42pm On Aug 03, 2023
abuja maybe better but you know who spoil lagos?

SmartyPants:
I've travelled all over Nigeria minus the far north but at least I've reached Gombe and Jos. Let's be frank.

Abuja is in a class of its own. By far the best West African city. I would even go further and say Abuja is the best West, East and Central African city.

Then there is Lagos which is a great i some ways and bad in others. It is important to note that many of the things this guy has wrongly identified as markers of poverty are actually just Nigerian behavioural traits. Haggling for tiny sums, pissing in public and so on have nothing to do with poverty.

Ibadan, Enugu, and all other southern capitals minus Yenagoa are more or less in the same bracket but Ibadan is still the first here because it is much bigger than the rest and more cosmopolitan.

wetin concern CMD or medical officer with lift. na building management problem be dat !
poor funding is what I think the problem is. you know nigerians, when you tell them something is bad, dem go dey boast and complain.

oke48:
Someone died due to negligence of the chief medical officer and all you say his someone relevance. Are you this daft or what? Even if you don't have sense normally, has it gotten to this? No value for human life at all.

el-rufai dey prepare to become president grin

either they'll impeach tinubu for unfit or run

MrSly:
You guys did not even get the real game. Who exactly brought up the old tweet? How come Tinubu got to consider the man in his appointment in the first place? The likes of Wike, Akpabio, Elrufai are they the best hands for the job. Why Moslem Moslem ticket, is it that they are the best combination available in Nigeria? Of course you know the answer
Tinubu is a master planner, I give it to him but he is very corrupt. He definitely rewards only his cronies but a clever man who is battling eligibility will want to gain acceptance by any means possible. You can digest this piece of information.
