ah. we are just here to learn, laugh and enjoy ivandragon: Maybe so, but then again, are you the sole repository of all knowledge on International Politics?
So, if a point of view at variance with yours cannot be 'real', then from where do you form your own opinions & views? Or are you all knowing? |

did putin tell you this on the bed ? gambojimeta: 100%
I mentioned earlier that Ukraine was a major power of the old USSR. Putin is still hurt by the dissolution of the USSR. He wants the glory of Russia back and that can't be complete without Ukraine on his side or Ukraine being part of Russia
Ukraine has always been dear to him. |

another nollywood expert ivandragon: Putin simply has an expansionist agenda & would not stop until he reestablishes the Soviet Union.
NATO is a defence pact, not an aggressive one & if Russia doesn't want Ukraine joining NATO, it can do so by other means including political & economic sanctions rather than a full scale war.
Also, since the balkanisation of the SU, Russia has always threatened Ukraine, hence, Ukraine's intention to join NATO. The US & its NATO allies have never pushed Ukraine to join NATO. Putin is just power mad.
Further more, the silence of China is telling... it is watching closely. If Russia succeeds in getting Ukraine without much resistance from the West, China is going to take Taiwan & Tibet too...
The domino effect is that North Korea will invade South Korea, Pakistan will invade the disputed Kahmir region with India. Some Arab nations will attack Israel. Other smaller conflicts designed to grab more land will ensue...
That said, powers (empires) rise & fall. China seems to be the one to replace the declining dominance of the US & Russia is aware of this. But the question I always ask those who insult US is this, would you prefer to stay in an autocratic China or a democratic US? |

Foreign Affairs › Re: Why Putin Is Invading Ukraine? (The Cable) by frog12: 6:48am On Feb 25, 2022 |
now you are very clueless !! so what was NATO doing in afghanistan ? see another nigerian expert in everything ! FERNANDEZISBACK: NATO is a military alliance created explicitly to resist the German and Soviet aggression. A lot has changed since 1949. Germany is actually now an ally and one of key NATO members. Russia however is still a threat particularly to its immediate neighbors who don’t have massive oil reserves to fund military budgets. So NATO is still a very relevant peacekeeping force in Europe...
So to answer your question, the reason why NATO has expanded and is expanding is because the applicant countries see it as a security guarantee against Russia, and to some degree, each other. Denying them membership simply based on their geographical location would defeat the very founding principle of NATO itself... Think with your head instead of bringing your cluelessness here. |

na so una dey hide the west atrocities. soon you go say europe no colonise africa. usa no enslave blacks. usa no lynch 12 year old black boys. i dey say nato was abusing its role and lied about it. na only putin question why dem kill gadhafi; everybody keep mum. FERNANDEZISBACK: And what atrocities did gadaffi commit? |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Why Putin Is Invading Ukraine? (The Cable) by frog12: 6:21am On Feb 25, 2022 |
during the struggle, nato was enforcing un no-fly zone in libya, but it was going over its mandate and no one question it. na so, dem bomb gadhafi car, and the people come get am and lynch am like fish. it was very brutal and bloody. nato no be joke ooo... they are real killers FERNANDEZISBACK: What are you saying? |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Why Putin Is Invading Ukraine? (The Cable) by frog12: 6:18am On Feb 25, 2022 |
na NATO kill gadhafi under incompetent zuma after all the training gadhafi gave zuma and anc during apartheid FERNANDEZISBACK: How is NATO a threat to him? NATO is a defensive organisation that guarantees the integrity of member nations against attack through the medium of mutual support...
He is not defending his country he is invading a sovereign country.. understand that? You can't defend your country by attacking another for no reason..just like torturing your wife for saying she wanna divorce you.. NATO is still necessary because it protects its members from the “confusion, instability, unpredictability” which are persistent conditions in international affairs. So NATO doesn’t need to be against any specific state or group to continue to have a very important job to do...To prevent any more annexed Crimea’s and Russian occupied Ukraine. Russia intends to further expand her borders, NATO may deter WW3... So you gotta understand that.. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Jean-Yves Le Drian: Putin Needs To Understand NATO Has Nuclear Weapons by frog12: 4:41am On Feb 25, 2022 |
well, nice. russia needs a leader like putin. don't be sentimental like that crying zelensky. he was given enough time to settle it peacefully. instead he was trying to bully russia like the others. but you gave nice info OAra: I never claimed to be an expert, I simply explain why I think what I think, and as we say, having to resort to ad hominem attacks are a clear sign you lost the argument. Regarding me copy-pasting my own posts...well once you explain the argument from an economic point of view you can try to synthetize it some more to shorten the post, but the gist won't change.
And one has got to love the random insult toward my country once I point out the simple fact that no African nation has the capitals/raw production of advanced tech Russia needs. Plenty of resources, but no massive production of advanced tech - that's China -.
Wanna prove me wrong? Feel free to do so, but you won't do it by throwing insults.
The data (a simple google search) show that Italy alone (much less the entire EU, or the EU, UK and US combined) has a GDP of 1920 $ billions (2021), Nigeria, which is quite literally one of the most powerful nations in Africa, has a GDP of (estimated) 440 $ billions (2021). So yes, I'll keep saying that Africa cannot provide the capitals Russia needs. |

i salute you for this if war starts, na only europe go lose pansophist: Americans are cunning. They let other small idiotic countries test the water, and hope you both go into war, get yourself weakened, supply weapons to both sides, and when you guys are done bombing, killing and destroying yourself, they will impose their will on you, and then turn you to a puppet state. Any student of history will see this patterns with whole of European union (Marshall plan after WWII), South Korea and Japan, Australia, and the UK. This was how the US emerged as the world sole superpower in the 90's.
Lithuania was used to test the one China policy, and the country instantly regretted it. China blocked the country from everything and companies left the country due to Chinese blockade. Lithuania has shown American that China is not joking about reunification with Taiwan. Now they are testing Russia with Ukraine, and Zelensky foolishly choose to sacrifice his country. Now America left them in the cold. Foolish leaders. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Jean-Yves Le Drian: Putin Needs To Understand NATO Has Nuclear Weapons by frog12: 4:25am On Feb 25, 2022 |
NATO soldiers are most likely inside ukraine already. don't believe them. they did this to libya and syria. then admitted they were inside Awesometouch1: Yes, you make much sense but Putin is only doing this because he is sure NATO won't intervene directly. NATO has said it repeatedly over couple of weeks they won't send soldiers to defend Ukraine. Russia had been using one foot at a time to test the waters before taking their next step each time. They also know the boundaries NATO has set as red-line and won't cross it. However, if Ukraine decides to fight it out, Russia will lose eventually, going by the world's definition of defeat. Ukraine has the man power. They just lack the tools, resources, and maybe, training.
Do you know what?, had the US suddenly risen to defend Ukraine before now there wouldn't have been any invasion. Russia would've still saved face since they've been claiming they were not out for invasion and that the West was only imagining it.
Furthermore, if NATO decides now to push Russia out of Ukraine Russia will freak out and will more than welcome negotiations.
My brother, nobody wants a nuclear war. If Russia wasn't nuclear powered, Britain would've been the first country to declare war on Russia immediately they invaded Ukraine just like the way they declared war on Germany the instant they invaded Poland.
It was not by chance you and I speak English today. Great Britain has reigned supreme on the face of this earth for centuries and in fact were even instrumental in the creation of a German state. Britain has had such tremendous influence on the rest of Europe that will surprise you. Before I used to think all European countries were equal but I was wrong. Britain is a Master in Europe.
Right now, Britain is the only country I've heard make mention of an eventual direct military conflict with Russia over Ukraine. That's the kind of bloody fighters they are. According to those that know, they are the only country that has successfully beaten Russia to the point of surrendering after invading them.
Forget that they are smaller, the British are the ones with the real chest for war. America shy away from war by all means unless they are pushed to the wall like the 9/11 and Pearlharbour.
Had Russia been responsible for a thing like 9/11, America would've descended on them with their whole might irrespective of any noise from Putin. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Jean-Yves Le Drian: Putin Needs To Understand NATO Has Nuclear Weapons by frog12: 4:23am On Feb 25, 2022 |
to gang-up DMerciful: You absolutely dont know Russia capabilities. There's a reason the US has been avoiding Russia from the 50s.
The day US go directly to Russia militarily, consider US nolonger superpower, infact they may be no more.
Have you wondered why US always build alliances of many nations? Their capabilities are overrated! |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Jean-Yves Le Drian: Putin Needs To Understand NATO Has Nuclear Weapons by frog12: 4:22am On Feb 25, 2022 |
you act like you are an expert. instead of these your copy and paste postings, why not focus on your shithole country OAra: I'll be blunt, but I mean no disrespect: Russia needs advanced tech and capitals.
No nation in Africa, not even a sleeping giant such as Nigeria, can provide either of these in the quantities required. China is the "big unknown" that might poke a huge hole in the sanctions net, but honestly we can only wait and see the evolving situation.
EDIT - sorry if I seem to have strong opinions about this war, but being pretty nationalistic I obviously support my homeland (Italy), and I have friends in Ukraine, so I have a lot of personal reasons to cheer as a dictator & his country pay the price for a war (and yes, I am 100% aware the West is FAR from blameless in this situation) |
