Crude futures differ from actual spot price crude.

Crude futures are one month future delivery orders while spot prices are constantly shifting and pricing is done for existing crude shipments on the high seas.

Spot prices can be lower or higher than future prices.

Today crude futures closed at $102 per barrel which means if you bought crude futures today, it will be redeemed in 30 days of placing the order and payment.

But this isn't reflective of the actual spot price of crude which is trading as high as $170 especially in Asian markets.

So now that the month is winding down and an imminent escalation in the ME is expected, we should see crude future prices spiking to as high as $150.

Trump has released 400 million barrels of US Strategic crude reserves into the global market to tamper down prices. He can't continue this unless he can get deliveries ramped up from Canadian and US drilling operations. Venezuelan crude won't cut it since they have not invested in same production output as in the ME to meet the global shortfall and also that most buyers won't touch Venezuelan crude due to its high sulfur content which makes it difficult to refine.

So basically, Trump is actually running a global crude subsidy that he can't sustain beyond the month of March.

Also, US regulators are now calling on increasing blend rates of gasoline by increasing ethanol mixture which is terrible for conventional ICE vehicles.

So we should look forward to crude futures and spot prices spiking before Good Friday.

1. That image he posted is AI generated. It is being posted around on Reddit for fun.
2. The very expensive radar system on that plane that Iran destroyed cannot be fixed or repaired when damaged. Lockheed Martins makes them but hasn't had any orders for them in years.
3. In all, there is only 16 E3-AWACS available to the US at anytime. Currently, 4 are in the middle east.
5. This plane costs around 700 million dollars. Boeing shut down the production line for this plane 30 years ago. A replacement is being considered but it has not even begun to be built and that replacement will not enter service anytime soon.
6. The E3 AWACS is one of the singular most valuable early warning systems the US has. Without it, fighter jets will have to turn on their radars to detect threats and this will reduce their stealth capabilities

Because drilling has ceased and moved offshore due to community restiveness stemming from Niger Delta militancy does not mean those marginal 10k barrel per day oil well operations to the north are the mainstay of Delta total output neither does it mean that Delta north has more oil reserves than the south and central.

See the map below and see which region of Delta state has more proven oil fields and reserves.
