I really don't see any cause for argument 'cos I think the OP has been grossly misunderstood. The OP never said speaking in tongues is not good. What he's just trying to elicit is that speaking in tongues must be as a result of the influence of the holyspirit whether it is an earthly or heavenly language that no man understand. But it only becomes wrong when we deliberately do it just to impress others that we are truly "spirit-filled". Gosh I don't know why pple are not just getting this simple fact. Hv we become so "spiritual" that we can't understand simple things again?! What is wrong with Nigerian xtainity? So many pple prove to know a lot yet they know nothing! God pls tk control and help us to easily decipher your words. Not just leaning on our own understanding but from the inspiration that comes from U̶̲̥̅̊ oh lord. Amen!!!

Ima Bruno: Jesus told d disciples to wait for the promise of the father, now what was that promise?
At a point in the bible, Jesus prayed so much that his sweat turned to blood, now tell me, was Jesus praying 'o father Lord, I thank u 4 today' in so much that his sweat could become blood? He was at a point of warfare, communicating heavenly languagues.

Now, u will be a christian that d devil uses as a football without the power of the Holy Ghost and speaking in tongues is just an evidence.

A girl was walking along a bush track somewhere and d holy spirit just laid a burden in her to start praying and she started praying in tongues, she just walked pass that track and some few minutes later it was heard that somebody had been rapped along that track, now what happened? As the other girl spoke in tongues angels of God were released to accompanied her down d road but she didn't see d angels. If she had started praying normally with her own language, she would have probable prayed amist at that point in time.

Like the bible always say; he that has an ear let him hear.

Bro I'm sorry to say this U̶̲̥̅̊ hv a very shallow understanding of what xtainity entails. Do you even know the essence of speaking in tongues? Everything U̶̲̥̅̊'ve been citing since are all stories U̶̲̥̅̊ read from one book or the other. This is what I'll refer to as "second-hand xtainity" Bro d kind of xtainity U̶̲̥̅̊'re practising is very dangerous. Be careful or else U̶̲̥̅̊'ll be swept away by false doctrines just because they appear similar to d truth. Be careful of what U̶̲̥̅̊ read and hear, try spending more time researching on the bible 'cos U̶̲̥̅̊'ve got great potentials. May God help U̶̲̥̅̊!

Ima Bruno: There are countable testimonies of people speaking in tongues and miracles just starts taking place, 1. A couple where praying in tongues in the night and angels of God were released to hold a water tank that would have fallen on them that night, so d tank fell on d spot where they where sleeping that was after they must have gone for work in the morning, imagine if they were only praying in english language that they understand, dy would have been dead by now.
2. A church had embarked on some nights prayer and speaking in tongues and the heavens was open for them, their eyes where all opened, they could see Jesus and demons, some where taken to see hell and heaven etc. I would encourage u to read this book titled 'Baptized by blazing fire' by Pst Kim, its online.
There are many more testimonies but I want to encourage somebody that the power that was at work in the lives of Apostles of old is still at work today only if we can yearn for it.

Dats the problem with Nigerian xtainity we take anything thrown at us hook, line and sinker just because they are written by foreign preachers. We don't tk time to research whether some of the things we are thought are biblically correct. No wonder so many people pray and don't get answers because so many pple pray amiss after spending endless hours shaking their heads. So many xtains are lazy that's d reason why they can be easily misled. That's how we were tot from childhood that the blackman race was cursed thru Ham not until recently I had to do a proper research of Gen9 and alas all I had been tot was a lie from hell because Ham wasn't cursed but it was Canaan his last son that was cursed and even the black race did not come from d lineage of Canaan but from Kush! What I'm trying to say in essence is that pple shld spend more time to research whatever they are tot b'cos there so many lies that has been painted as truth. May God help us!

1 Corinthians 13

New International Version (NIV)

13 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 14:1-40

English Standard Version (ESV)
Prophecy and Tongues

14 Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy. 2 For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. 3 On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation. 4 The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church. 5 Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up.

6 Now, brothers,[a] if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I benefit you unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or teaching? 7 If even lifeless instruments, such as the flute or the harp, do not give distinct notes, how will anyone know what is played? 8 And if the bugle gives an indistinct sound, who will get ready for battle? 9 So with yourselves, if with your tongue you utter speech that is not intelligible, how will anyone know what is said? For you will be speaking into the air. 10 There are doubtless many different languages in the world, and none is without meaning, 11 but if I do not know the meaning of the language, I will be a foreigner to the speaker and the speaker a foreigner to me. 12 So with yourselves, since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, strive to excel in building up the church.

13 Therefore, one who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret. 14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unfruitful. 15 What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind also; I will sing praise with my spirit, but I will sing with my mind also. 16 Otherwise, if you give thanks with your spirit, how can anyone in the position of an outsider say “Amen” to your thanksgiving when he does not know what you are saying? 17 For you may be giving thanks well enough, but the other person is not being built up. 18 I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you. 19 Nevertheless, in church I would rather speak five words with my mind in order to instruct others, than ten thousand words in a tongue.

20 Brothers, do not be children in your thinking. Be infants in evil, but in your thinking be mature. 21 In the Law it is written, “By people of strange tongues and by the lips of foreigners will I speak to this people, and even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord.” 22 Thus tongues are a sign not for believers but for unbelievers, while prophecy is a sign[c] not for unbelievers but for believers. 23 If, therefore, the whole church comes together and all speak in tongues, and outsiders or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are out of your minds? 24 But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all, 25 the secrets of his heart are disclosed, and so, falling on his face, he will worship God and declare that God is really among you.
Orderly Worship

26 What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up. 27 If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret. 28 But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God. 29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said. 30 If a revelation is made to another sitting there, let the first be silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged, 32 and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. 33 For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.

As in all the churches of the saints, 34 the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. 35 If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church.

36 Or was it from you that the word of God came? Or are you the only ones it has reached? 37 If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord. 38 If anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized. 39 So, my brothers, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. 40 But all things should be done decently and in order.
This really summarizes it all. Speak all d tongues U̶̲̥̅̊ can in d world and U̶̲̥̅̊ don't hv luv; U̶̲̥̅̊'re only wasting 'ur time. If U̶̲̥̅̊ speak in tongue all the time and 'ur next door neighbor is dying of hunger when U̶̲̥̅̊ hv more than enough; U̶̲̥̅̊ are only wasting 'ur time 'cos love is the greatest thing of all. May God grant us understanding. Amen!

Politics › South-west Has Largest Cannabis Farms - NDLEA by funshint(op): 2:29pm On Jul 28, 2013
The Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency has said
the South-West geopolitical zone has the largest
cannabis plantations in the country, with 1,404.27
hectares of cannabis farmland destroyed in 2012.
Of this, Ekiti State tops the list of states in the zone,
with 764 hectares of cannabis farmland.
In data SUNDAY PUNCH obtained from the Head,
Public Affairs, NDLEA, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, on
Friday, the agency said the plantations were
concentrated in Ekiti, Ondo, Osun, Ogun and Oyo
states.
It added that Delta and Edo states in the South-
South top the list of states with the largest cannabis
farms from other zones.
NDLEA said, of the 8,052 drug suspects arrested,
North-West had the highest with 2,185.
This was followed by South-West, with 1,591; South-
South, 1,480; North-Central, 1,230; South-East, 960;
and North-East, 606.
The agency seized 233,700kg of narcotics in the
year under review, with the South-South having the
highest, with 106,676.716kg.
The South-West came second, with 94,036.265kg;
North-Central, 14,472.309kg; North-West,
10,357.895kg; North-East, 4,548.268kg; and South-
East, 3,608.309kg.
On the list of states with the largest volume of
drugs seized, Edo led with 81,541.71kg. Ondo had
61,246.35kg; Delta, 23,418.48kg; Ogun, 8,469.99kg;
Oyo, 7,232.08kg; and Ekiti, 6,685.23kg.
Kano State recorded the highest number of arrests,
with 705 suspects - all males.
Katsina State came second, with 411 suspects --407
males and four females. Plateau State recorded 384
arrests -- 369 males and 15 females. Ekiti State had
383 suspects -- 349 males and 34 females.
Others include Lagos, with 321 suspects -- 305
males and 16 females; Delta, 292 suspects -- 243
males and 49 females.
Ofoyeju noted that the statistics assisted the NDLEA
in resources allocation and personnel deployment in
line with the rating of the geographical locations.
He added that it helped the agency in planning raid
operations and public enlightenment campaign
programmes.
Ofoyeju said, "The Chairman of the NDLEA, Ahmadu
Giade, recently posited that cannabis cultivation
has serious implication on national economy and
security.
"Cannabis eradication is one of our priority
concerns. It prevents cannabis from struggling with
legitimate crops for arable land. Incentive is taken
from the drug cartel, while legitimate farmers are
encouraged to grow food and cash crops. Besides
cutting off supply to the trafficker and drug addicts,
cannabis control promotes national economy and
security."

lucarella: The Abidjan-Lagos highway development project may cost up to $2bn, the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Economic Community of West African States Commission, Mr. Ebima Njie, has said.
He spoke in Abuja on Friday during a meeting with development partners on the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Highway Development Project.

He said, “We are now focusing on three areas: the legal framework, which is going to govern the movement of people and goods within the corridor; the technical terms of reference of the designs and the management, which is going to govern the highway; and the financial mechanism, which is one of the most important things in order to get the dream realised.
“Seventy-five per cent of our trade movement relies on this corridor. We are going to put up a funding mechanism, a pool of funds whereby it could be a mixture of funding. We will take loans and grants in order to make sure this is realised.
“Until the design has been done properly, we cannot come up with a tangible figure, but cost estimates; we are looking at $1bn to $2bn within that bracket in order to fund this project.”
The Minister of Works, Mr. Mike Onolememen, said the project would facilitate free movement across borders in the sub-region.
Represented by the Deputy Director, Highways Planning, Mr. Umunna Ekenna, the minister said, “We have witnessed that regions around the world are pulling resources together towards creating opportunities to maximise the areas of strength for individual states within their regions.

Politics › Electricity Tariff Will Increase Despite Poor Supply -NERC by funshint(op): 7:40am On Jul 16, 2013
Despite the erratic power supply in the country and frequent system collapses, electricity tariff will continue to rise, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has said.

NERC, while defending the Federal Government’s position on the recent increase in fixed electricity charges, said the Multi Year Tariff Order had an approved tariff stipulated for 2012 to 2016.

The MYTO, which was prepared by NERC and obtained by our correspondents, showed that there would be increases in electricity tariff every year till 2016.

The tariff schedule showed that consumers would have to pay higher on two fronts. Every year, the fixed cost will go up. Similarly, the energy cost or cost per kilowatt hour of electricity will also go up.

NERC had consistently said that increase in electricity tariff would be for the short run and that the amount payable by consumers would begin to fall when the country had produced enough electricity.

The annual tariff increase, our correspondents gathered, would be automatic not minding whether there was appreciable improvement in power supply or not.

The Chairman, NERC, Dr. Sam Amadi, while briefing journalists on Monday following public outcry against the recent increase in the fixed charge from N500 to N700 or N800, depending on the location, said, “The truth is that the tariff must increase despite shortfalls in service delivery.”

He argued that the inability of power distribution companies to live up to expectation was not a tenable reason to slash tariff, adding that it was in the interest of Nigerians not to reduce the charges.

Amadi said most of the shortcomings in the sector were structural and insisted that the commission would not reverse itself on the approved tariff regardless of the underperformances of power distribution companies.

He said, “We regret that the distribution companies have not been very committed to meeting their obligations in the MYTO. NERC recognises that the quality of service has not seen significant improvement, especially in the area of metering and accurate billing of customers.

“Our expectation for significant and sustained improvement in electricity supply and quality service lies in the expected takeover by the privatisation preferred bidders, who have better incentives and commitment, and have made enforceable promises to invest continuously in providing better services to consumers.

“These investments and commensurate improvements will not all be made in one day but over the coming months, years and decades following the entry of new investors and managers of our distribution companies.”

The Nigeria Labour Congress on Sunday condemned the new tariff designed by NERC, with its President, Mr. Abdulwaheed Omar, saying the body rejected the latest figures because of the epileptic electricity supply and the low purchasing power of the working people.

But reacting to the NLC position, Amadi argued that two minor reviews conducted by the commission did not result in increase in tariff.

This, he said, was because the fundamentals of the MYTO and the financial model published on NERC’s website had not significantly changed.

“We must state that the commencement and results of both minor reviews were announced via various national print and electronic media, including some that carried various provocative statements that bear absolutely no connection with the truth,” Amadi said.

On what the penalty was for distribution companies that failed to provide stable electricity despite collecting high fixed charges, the NERC boss stated that the commission had responded with regulations to enforce correct billing of unmetered customers.

He said NERC had also introduced the Credited Advance Payment for Metering Implementation policy to help protect electricity consumers.

“We will continue to enforce these regulations and interventions to improve quality supply before the preferred bidders take over the networks,” Amadi said.
Which incompetence did she show?

If you were born or were alive at the time Sergeant Rogers gave his testimonies about how Al-Mustapha directed them in the murder of Kudirat, the burning of General Akinrinade's property, the attempted murder of Alex Ibru and Sen. Abraham Adesanya, the murder of one socialite woman in Ibadan etc, you would know that his statements were too detailed to be an induced fabrication.

Rogers later came back to say he was induced. Don't forget too that the same reason the Appeal court judges mentioned to refuse the admission of the first statements given by Rogers and Katako could also suffice for enough grounds not to believe Rogers was induced to make the first statement because there was no evidence to support the fact that Rogers and the other guy - Katako were induced to lie. The defendants did not show any evidence that the Police offered Rogers money to lie. So the question now is this - Is the fact that Rogers came back many years to say those statements he made (note, he admitted making those statements) were motivated/induced without substantial proof enough ground to dismiss the statements? Please note that many years passed before Rogers denied making the statements. He was in fact walking free at the time and had contact with agents of the defendants who could have induced/threatened him to deny all the damning statements he made at first. The judgment was unduly prolonged and that gave the defendants and his agents enough time to work on Rogers and Katako.

Even the appeal court cannot claim that their judgment is fool-proof! Our entire system of legal administration is a joke in this country!!!!
May God bless u big time! Most people here are just blind to see whats truly going on; this is really a big shame to the judicial system of the country where ethnic sentiments have been allowed to infiltrate the delivery of sound judgement.Very lazy judgement; how can u just water down a 326 page judgement just like that. These are the type of judges who are ready to pronounce any judgement in favour of the highest bidder. This is a big slap to the judicial system and a huge shame on this country; not even the judges can be trusted again. Nothing less is expected from this power hungry tribe(Northerners) who are always ejecting tribal sentiments into whatever they do. They are in charge of the National Judicial Council, they also have the Court of Appeal in their grips after that "retardeen" up there controversially deleted the person that was trying to input a little bit of sanity and trust in the Judicial System(Justice Ayo Salami). This people(Northerners) have the highest number of judges in Nigeria 'cos its a much easier and stress-free avenue to success compared to being a practicing lawyer. Very lazy judgement and lazy set of judges altogether. May God and posterity judge you Al-mustapha and Shofolahan 'cos you'll definitely account for the blood of the innocent you've shed. And to those corrupt set of lazy judges may you also be denied justice when you dearly need it. I weep for this country; most especially I weep for the Yorubas. Tinubu hope you are happy wherever you are now; you better be careful 'cos u're about to associate yourself with a set of power hungry wolves(Northerners). By the time they collect that power they will eat you up. Go and ask Afonja, Awolowo and Abiola they have bitter stories to tell about this people(Northerners); political backstabbers. I rest my case!!!
