prechear:Prechear baba, big congratulations mehn, best of wishes in your next steps. Abeg no finish the shayo, make me sef follow you jubilate ![]() |
tonybunor:Reasonable prices ranges from AUD$50 - 230 per night depending on how 'big' your pocket is. I have never been a fan of school accommodation, too many undergrads' wahala ![]() |
tonybunor:Let me advise you based on my experience - you can book a cheap motel, hotel, backpackers, hostel for the first few nights, this can be booked prior to your arrival using your ATM card. You may use google to find any of these. By so doing, you will be able to search for accommodation. You may not find your choice of place immediately, however you can start with a 3month contract while you search for a better place. I could have suggested that you stay at my place for a few days, however, I live a lil bit far from the Central Business District (Ann Street) where I believe your campus is located. |
MisterNRC:Oh, it looks like you live in Brisbane ![]() |
tonybunor:Oh I see, got mine for 250k thereabout. I came in with only 1k US dollars (I changed it to AUD when I arrived the airport here). So you may come in with that amount as well. You wouldn't even need to worry if you have got a Nigerian Visa/Mastercard debit card. As soon as you open an account in Australia (usually ready immediately), you can use your naija ATM to withdraw and deposit in your Australia account. |
tonybunor:Congrats bro. I'm glad it all worked out well. Have you checked Qatar airways? Their fees are usually reasonable. I used them when I was coming here. Basically, you'll fly Lagos to Doha, Qatar to Perth to Brisbane (depending on your final destination). Let me know if you need any heads-up. Cheers! |
symbian03:I only got the msg request which I replied to bro. tonybunor:Origin is better bro . Unfortunately, I doubt if you would be allowed to take it in. So I just dey joke ni.surveyor1:Hmmnn, enjoy for where Na una dey chop all the coast life. |
surveyor1:Oga mi sir, when are you hosting me in GC? |
tonybunor:Oh, na wah for BCIE faa. All you can do is to keep waiting or put more pressure on your agent to contact Pretoria on your behalf. I have heard unpleasant stories about that particular agent which makes me doubt if they actually contacted the embassy as they had claimed. Some schools would normally allow international students to resume up until after the O' week. Be optimistic, your visa is just around the corner bro. Ermmnn, and please bring Origin bitters (plastic) for me when coming to Brissy ![]() |
tonybunor:You may not get a response from them if you are still within the average processing time. We have no idea about your date of application and category of visa applied for. Ruleogo:They are both top Universities located in 2 of the major cities in Australia. Based on this fact, I would expect that the expenses will be on the higher side. Just be prepared and you'll be fine. |
Congrats BOSSLADYMO. Olorun a wo oo. I will eat my own jollof rice when you all arrive here. |
Ruleogo:Yes go for it, but have it in mind that it may get really competitive as UniMelb is one of the top Unis here. I would suggest that you apply to 1 or 2 more Unis as alternatives. |
mrnilobrawn:Replied! |
mrnilobrawn:Thanks for calling my attention to it, as I don't check that email regularly. I shall critique it and get back to you ASAP bro. |
To everyone coming to Australia soon, be prepared to be sent to the quarantine section where you are most likely to answer the following questions, based on my personal experience: Have you had fever in the last few days? Have you attended or helped anyone with ebola in the past days/week? Have you handled or come in close contact with corpses bla bla bla After you answer these questions, you would be given a pamphlet containing some numbers you should call if you feel unwell within the next 21 days. They were really friendly - I remember having a brief chat with them about how Nigeria was able to contain the deadly virus.... and yes, they are aware that Nigeria currently has no case of ebola. However, each passenger coming in from West Africa (you need to declare this on your landing card) is subjected to such interview. |
Chaii, all these sweet talks about the UK, una wan make I waka come back aha ![]() To the new MSc students, it is not too early to start planning what you would like to do after your program (either staying back legally in the UK or porting to the next level). That 15-18 months visa you are holding will expire soon, yes, soon! Time seems to be faster in that part of the world The chances of getting a job back in the UK are really slim, this is a reality and not in anyway trying to discourage anyone. Miracles do happen. As for me, even before I got there, I knew I would be leaving the UK post-MSc - so I didn't bother applying for jobs. Best of wishes to you all. The topic of my short sermon is: Draw Your Future Plans Now. |
bannana:Yea that's correct. I got mine for 1k at Lagos Port Health, pretty easy and straightforward to get. Don't forget to take your international passport along as it is required. |
bannana:Not sure for visitors but they do ask for it at the port of entry. |
equlibrium: emmm...walahi I dint interface with any of the two so I really don't know anything about either.Chaii, you for come QUT nah, was just around there house hunting yesterday As for the ATM card of a thing, I think any debit MasterCard (visa too?) would work. I use Zenith and my card has worked well at POS. I'm yet to withdraw from an ATM but checked my balance and it worked fine, at official rate. |

I'm sure it's an error on their side or VFS side. While you wait for VFS to respond to your email, I would suggest that you reply that email informing them that all required payments have been made. |
The Great equlibrium. Congrats and well done bro. Good luck awaits you in the beautiful city of Perth. |
Anyone on here lives in Brisbane? Let's have some beer talks ![]() |
Sammybbb: hello my country men,pls i intend 2 apply 4 australian student visa, the procedures ar quite familiar with me,thanks to this thread......bt my question is..does having my 0 level in two sittings gonna b an obstacle..do they mind if it is waec, gce, or neco!Which one in particular earned you your admission offer? |
aduktus: As advised by FutureDon, I got the reply to my mail from Pretoria- Team leader students-He said my app under assessment and also waiting for medical clearance from MOC.Welcome. Good luck with your app. |
Just thought to share this - if you think your waiting in unusual and have exceeded the normal processing period, it is advisable to contact Pretoria to check if everything is alright. I contacted them the same day my visa was issued only for the team leader (Student) to realise my CO had sent a PVC request mail to a wrong email address. If I hadn't contacted them, they would have been waiting for me to respond to a mail I never received They are generally nice, so just go straight to them point (and be nice but not obsequous) when contacting them (through email). |
iriferi: I'm looking at monday/tuesday Sir... Should I book one way or round tripGo on Qatar airways and get yourself a one-way cheap ticket from Lagos to Brisbane. If you pay with your ATM card, your visa will be ready almost immediately. On the other hand, If you pay into their bank account, e-ticket will be email in about 30-40mins. #TeamQLD. |

1. I can bet you already have a CO who is just waiting on your medical clearance. I didn't get to know my CO until I contacted them to express concern about my application. 2. You may contact Pretoria for them to clarify this. The team leader (student) or your case officer is likely to respond. 3. Until your medicals is cleared - your app will be assessed but your visa will only be issued when you've satisfied the health requirements. 4. No it will not, fear not sir. Cheers and good luck. |
See free ads for Qatar Airways oo. I agree with HudsonBanks on Qatar Airways. My first flight with them in 2012 from Lagos to Manchester made me fall in love with their services. I had close to 4:30hrs stopover and it was just like minutes. I met a Nigerian guy and girl at Hamad International airport and we chatted and 'boozed' away the long hours. After finishing the booze, we went on quick perfume spraying mission, lol. They young man who sold the booze kept it for us inside a big brown envelop and advised us to drink directly from the envelop cos we asked if we could consume it right in the waiting area ![]() I can't say the same for other airlines I had used. |
malkinburg, sorry for responding lately - QLD. October. No SOA. Applied Sept 4. The slight delay is attributed to my meds. Bros, you be journalist? see as you fire me with questions. |
Thanks everyone. Submitted at VFS on 04 Sep. |
