symbian03 - boss, you can not be proud of being Nigerian and hesitate telling people you are from Nigeria whenever you get asked smiley. I agree with bellong's views. Tbh, there are countries as corrupt as our motherland. I remember chatting a lady from Sri Lanka the other day, she smiled immediately I told her I'm Nigerian and she said ''don't worry, we both have something in common, a corrupt Government". No need to go into the details of our subsequent convo.

Sadly, on many occasions, the tone of conversation has changed from interested to disinterested whenever ignorant non-Nigerians found out I'm Nigerian. It's actually worse here than it was back in England. I care less about this. I have this little Nigerian flag (with "Nigeria" boldly written on it) on my desk in the Uni. It's a subtle message to my fellow ignorant colleagues to let me be if they can't have a conversation without prejudice.

Overall, the enlightened/sensible non-Nigerians know that the action of one can't be used to judge many as bellong rightly said.

This is not the aim of this thread but I thought I should add a few lines. Cheers.

In addition to what erictack203 has advised, make sure you have MORE THAN ENOUGH in your account. I understand that some banks e.g. Zenith Bank converts from Naira to USD and then to AUD before onward transfer to their intermediary bank (usually an Australian bank), who subsequently credits the University's account.

And that might helped you in some ways,
Example...when they ask you where you will be staying when you Arrived.

choosing your Siblings apartment might sound very convincing than stressing yourself with finding an apartment to rent from Naija.
Whoooootttt? Really broski?

Back to the matter, missymii I do not think that stating that your brother lives in Australia will hinder your chances of getting your application approved. I know (have seen) typical examples. I am assuming your brother legally LIVES in Australia. On the other hand, if your mind is asking you to do otherwise, make sure your brother hasn't already provided your information on any previous immigration related applications. Anyways, just follow your mind.

Congrats on your UQ offer. The “ministry” is growing. I would like to see a Nigerian Students Association UQ, someday.

1. To be honest, I thought you have answered your question already. Here are my thoughts: just make sure the job roles on your CV relates very well to healthcare services. The website approach is also a good idea. In fact, nothing to worry about. Me no just gbadun as you yarn the site for here, try comot am sir. I no wan fo too much.

2. You will receive oral polio vaccine when you go for your medicals. You will be given a letter demonstrating that you have been vaccinated. You will need to include a copy in your visa application. As much as I know, the yellow card will only be needed at the point of entry and not required for visa application.

3. No, you don’t have to CERTIFY your CV, SoP or yellow card.

4. Not necessary bro. Paradoxically, I would put 2 references if I have them.

5. Very tricky question. It’s already been suggested on previous pages, not sure of the page number.

6. On the SoP, I would say something like… my sponsor has enough financial resources to support me throughout the duration of my proposed course.

Imagine someone asking you to review SoP or answering personal questions after they had already lodge their application, baba nla time wasting. Una know unaself oo. timikenzo2:
I am most grateful .....Are you on scholarship? I don't mind paying my fees.....just to know what the application process is like and how long it takes getting a supervisor. Can I drop my mail address ?
I am. PhD applications vary from Uni to Uni. All the advice that I will give will be based on my experience applying to the "big boys". Getting a supervisor may take days, weeks or even months depending on how prompt the Prof responds to emails. I remember receiving responses to some of my emails after I had already accepted an offer elsewhere.

Typically, the process include:
Find a supervisor
Discuss potential projects with the supervisor
Write a research proposal
Supervisor officially agrees if convinced that one is ready for the "game" ahead
Apply for admission and/or scholarship: In most cases, applications are first considered for admission (5weeks +) before onward consideration for scholarships (8wks +). For instance, one's application might be successful for admission but not for scholarship.

Most importantly, your first email needs to be "catchy". Also, it will be of importance to let them know that you'll be applying as a self-funded student as a lot of them consider funding before agreeing to act as a supervisor.

You are welcome to send me a PM if you have more personal questions to ask. I know there are 2 other PhD students on this thread, albeit missing in action, who might want to add one or two points.

Hello house, please I need help. I am considering a PhD programme In Australia. How do I go about it? I saw some scholarships available, but I will also need a supervisor before school accepts my application.
Gurus in the house, please helppp. Many thanks
Iriferi, I hail you.

timikenzo2 I may be able to offer suggestions/advise based on my experience applying to PhD programs. I must warn you that it is a tedious process. Yes, there are scholarships but very competitive. I am not saying these to scare you but to sort of paint a picture of what lies ahead. Yes, you need to secure a supervisor before your app can be considered for admission/scholarship. I would contact as many potential supervisors as possible.

blueprint2015 - did you know the reason reason(s) why your visa application was denied? I believe your new course is related. On your SoP, we will establish a sweet connection between the old and new courses and give believable reason (s) for the change in course. Overall, it needs to be concise.

bigm101 - that question is not a difficult one imho. Just state it concisely that the funds will be deposited in your Naija account (by your sponsor, if you are using one) and subsequently be accessed by you in Australia with your debit/ATM cards.

I know it seems I'm biased towards QUT because it's my School but it won't hurt to check it out eh?
Hahaha, I see where the rivalry between UQ and QUT students come from. The fact is, UQ, a top world university, supersedes QUT in all major rankings, grants approval rates, research output etc. No doubt, QUT is also a good institution.

Good Morning Everybody,Please i will like to go for my master in Australia. Please i need a very very cheap school either college or a university. And what are the documents i need to send please .
There is no "very very cheap school" to study a Masters degree in Australia. You need to have that in mind so as not be disappointed when you start seeing the fees.
