olahim : aduktus said it all, most graduate research scholarships do not come with OSHC. Sometimes, it's cheaper to get an insurance with Bupa other than what the University has suggested.

laminaria - although my knowledge in packaged courses is limited, I would advise the following;

1. Search for schools similar to school A, perhaps there are some other schools that offer just Cert IV in disability (39weeks) + Diploma in disability (70weeks) under SVP route. In my honest opinion, I think 3.5years for combined certificate and diploma courses is a bit long - that's enough time to bag a PhD, I would opt for the BSc degree instead.

2. If there are no other schools offering just Cert IV in disability (39weeks) + Diploma in disability (70weeks) under SVP route, check school A website very well to ascertain that you can actually ''bone'' the adv. diploma part later in future.

Disability courses are more marketable here than what school B is offering you, as such I wouldn't advise you to go for option B.

@futuredon ..tnx boss for d insight... its gud to av a shu alumni in d haus...yea I get manchester uni ish thanks to Russell and co grin.

so pls telme ow d town is boss e.g job accessibility (if its industrialised), ow quiet it is, living expense, and ow reliable d schools career service is. . #ps am really not interested in d nite life so u can skip dat part.wink

tnx and nice to av u around
In my honest honest opinion, I wouldn't say that Sheffield is heavily industrialized, however I know a few people who were working as students back then, however getting a p/t or casual job can be hectic as first. The general advice is that one should have sufficient means for at least first 3 months post-arrival. It's not expensive and transport system is pretty good. I will skip the NightLife as advised, hahaha.

As for the career service, I think it depends on your intended course. I personally did not explore those options when I was at SHU as I wasn't looking to work post-study, however I did receive emails several times about career fairs et al. I guess I'm not in the best position to talk about career service, lol. Besides, I was not on the main campus. Na that other boring campus I dey smiley and na students wey dey City campus get all the hot news for hand back then

Just in addition to what others have said, try to do your medicals before lodging your visa application and NOT vise versa.

You do not need to include any bank statement, however I would suggest that you include your funding letter - I included mine when I was applying for my 574. Contact the Graduate School or your program Coordinator to know if you could possibly resume a few days after your commencement date - just incase..

Seems we have similar educational profiles, hopefully we can meet up someday. All the best bro.

@justwise, spike C etc... HELP!!!

owkay...now I've got ur attention grin . here's d drift please I need candid advice on which school to accept btw

a) Coventry University which is doing pretty gud amongst oda schools plus dey've got sum pretty career programs (such as d GLP and IEMS) dat will really benefit me. AND

b) Sheffield Hallam University which is also not bad in d ranking and they are giving me £3000 discount (Dats close to a million box wink ). plus its cost of living is cheaper dan Coventry.
Haha, that's a pretty decent offer bro, I wish I had such opportunity, lol. I would advise that you go for SHU. I would have advised otherwise if you are considering say, Uni of Manchester vs SHU, you get what I mean? I finished from SHU and I can assure you that it's a decent University. Study hard, get good grades and you are good to go.

As for me, my SHU degree (with se.xy grades) earned me some pretty decent PhD positions outside the United Kingdom. I'm a proud Alumnus smiley

Guy I have never heard where NYSC will defer the service year for two years especially since you have started the servoce year already. Except ofcourse the commandant is related to you. (I stand corrected though but it has never happened before. And if it has there must be a very good enuf reason.
I have several homeboys who ditched NYSC and went abroad to study as soon as we finished from Uni. Some have returned to Naija to serve whereas some do not still care about it cos employers don't care about it in their respective countries. Yes, it's possible to defer service for two years and more. One may even leave halfway - that person will be recorded as an absconded Corper, the discouraging part is that s/he would have to return to their institution for re-mobilisation and start afresh. No, you do not have to know any commandant before absconding..

Yes, people work in Naija without NYSC certificates or exemption letters. I know it's a requirement for most Govt, banks, multinationals job positions, however some private firms care less about it. I have real-life examples.

youngpboy - I hope this post helps you with your decision making. I would be surprised if you decide to defer your application at this stage.

@ ferdimako @bellong thanks a bunch...@ futuredon no comment en?lol
I had to read your post several times -- bros, your shorthand writing no be for here oo.

To the best of my understanding, DIBP is asking you to provide them with 2 letters from your employer. (i) to prove that you are truly working with them and, (ii) to confirm that you will be allowed to return to your current position, or another new job offer following the completion of your studies. I would like to think that such request by DIBP was triggered by what you had written on your SoP.

My advice - ask your employer to provide you with a letter confirming that you are actually working with them. To fulfill the second requirement, your employer also need to state the possibilities of returning to your job following the completion of your study. One letter should suffice for both requirements, however the wordings of the letter needs to be direct and assuring in order to convince your case officer. Additionally, you may also include your employment letter for your current position if you have it.

Good luck broda smiley

I believe you'll be able to reapply asap since your rejection wasn't based on submission of bogus documents. I reckon it's still gonna take a few weeks before you gain admission, make payments, receive COE etc... Thus, I suggest you commence the processing as soon as you can. Unfortunately, I can't read your mail as I have not been able to access my email attached to my nairaland ID. I will try changing it later.

My school did not ask for a statement of account before they issued a COE. Are you certain, the school will 'definitely' ask for it?
I apologize for the misinformation. iykosman - you will be asked by your Uni to sign a Declaration of Financial Capacity form confirming that you have the required money and not necessarily provide a statement of account. That is the common practice, however it may vary across schools.
TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by FutureDon(m): 5:05am On Jun 09, 2015
iykosman:
Someone should please answer me.
Although you do not need to include a statement of account when applying for visa under SVP route, the school will def ask for it before your Confirmation of Enrollment (COE) document can be issued. You'll also be asked to make part payment of your tuition and full payment of health insurance.

Yes it is possible for the Embassy to request for it as they have the rights to do so, however the chances that they will ask for it are really really really slim, you feel me?

after more than 3months of waiting I got d shock of my life from Pretoria (visa denied) I Neva saw it coming... assessment level3.
I'm sorry to hear about this bro, just be strong and NEVER give up on your dream. As suggested by a few forum members, I'm gonna advise that you try the SVP route. I read one of your posts that you are worried about changing courses - I do no think that that is going to be a problem as it is normal for people to change their career path, oyinbos also do it. All you'll need to do is to present a believable Statement of Purpose (SOP) when applying to visa explaining the main reason for such change -- I am happy to help contribute to the SOP when you get to that stage, God's willing.

All the best broda...

Sups bro, pls I wanna ask if u av an idea on how best to get accommodation(one room) around Sunshine Coast. I will b moving to Aussie (University of the Sunshine Coast) by first week of July.
How fare bro, here is my suggestion - look up online for a cheap motel/hotel or temporary accommodation for say, 3-4 days. Within that 3-4 days, you should be able to get a more stable accommodation particularly in a house share - I'm assuming you are coming in as a single student. Gumtree is a good website to look on. Good luck with your search.
