Troops of 202 Battalion have taken custody of eight Boko Haram Insurgents and their families, comprising 10 adult females and 22 children, who surrendered to troops at Ruwaza village in Bama Local Government Area of Borno state, WonderTV Media learnt.

In a similar development, troops of Forward Operational Base (FOB) operating along Bocobs- Bama road have arrested 20 Boko Haram fighters and their families, who surrendered to troops at Nbewa village, also in Bama Local Government Area of Borno state.

In a statement published by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, the surrendering families of the insurgents comprised 15 adult females and 26 children. The suspects all surrendered to the troops, during clearance operations in the areas on 29th July, 2021 following ongoing intense clearance operations by troops in the general areas.

The children among the surrendering suspects have been vaccinated with polio vaccines, while the adult and female suspects, who have been documented and screened are currently undergoing preliminary investigations.

In a separate operation, troops of 73 Battalion, Forward Operating Base (FOB) in conjunction with a combined team of Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and Hunters have intercepted a Boko Haram Terrorists Logistics Supplier during a fighting patrol along Molai – Damboa Road. On being alerted, the combined team swiftly mobilised and stormed the location, where they arrested the suspect, while he was perfecting plans to deliver logistics to the insurgents in the forest.

Items recovered from the suspect include a vehicle, 4 jerry cans of 30 Litres of PMS, one 4 litre gallon of engine oil, one motorcycle pump, one oil treatment, one torchlight, one mosquito net, two praying mats, two blankets, four Spanners, 10 packets of 1.5v battery and three dozens of diamond rubber solution. Others are five packets of candies, five packets of seasoning and measures of other foodstuffs.

A Nigerian lady identified as Adejoke Lasisi wow the Ooni of Ife on ….. as she present to him a portrait of the king made with “Pure Water” sachets, WonderTV Media reports.

The young lady who is famous for “recycling sachets” said when she heard she was going to be honoured by the Ooni as one of the South-West MSME Ambassadors, she started thinking of what she could present to the King as a gift in a show of gratitude.

After a long thought, she consulted her team and they all came up with different ideas, she ordered for the leftover sachets in the stores to be brought which were used to make the portrait of the king and their artist came up with an idea of using straws as beads and they made use of them.

The young lady stated that the Ooni of Ife couldn’t believe a portrait of him could be made with “pure water” sachets and straws.

“Kabiyesi kept touching the straws and he couldn’t believe this portrait of him was made from the woven pure water sachets waste and the straws as beads”, the lady said.

As the first female Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Oko with over 30 years experience in the academia, she has continued to transform that citadel of learning through sound educational policies and infrastructural development, raising and shaping future leaders and expanding the frontiers of human civilization. It is not in doubt that by the time her tenure ends, the polytechnic would have metamorphosed to an undisputable center of excellence. On assumption of office, about 62 programmes already lacked accreditation and were on the verge of collapsing. She swung into action and facilitated the accreditation of all the 62 courses and even raised new programmes. By that singular action, the academic standard of the institution was raised, giving the students quality learning, hope of graduation in record time, ability to participate in the national youth service scheme and a vista of opportunities. Engr.Dr. Nwafulugo understands the essence of staff motivation and how it enhances staff productivity, translating to better academic environment and improved student performance. So she promoted a great number of staff whose promotion were stagnated and converted some of the staff who had upgraded their academic qualification and this action would usher in a very convivial atmosphere of learning. It is interesting to note that since her assuming office, the institution has not recorded any internal strike and this does not mean that there are no management/ staff challenges, but it has always been resolved by dialogue.

Mindful of the importance of cleanliness and decent accommodation to the learning process, she embarked on hostel rehabilitation, providing basic amenities to ease the stress of students who hitherto use to spend their productive hours trying to secure basic things like water. Such thoughtful actions led to reduction of incidences of examination malpractice in the institution as students channel their energy towards their studies, the very reason they came to school. To her credit, new projects are springing up in the school even while trying to complete projects started by the past administration and these she has done without noise.

Engr.Dr. Nwafulugo has made tremendous success out of engineering, enriching the life of man and inspiring the younger generation to reach out for the stars. She prides as one of the most successful female engineers in the academia in the country and for more than 30 years has contributed to her field immensely. She is a specialist on environment and an international consultant on water treatment and monitoring. She led an Independent team on Water monitoring Project for Green Development. “PoA for the reduction of emission from non-renewable fuel from cooking at household level, United Nations Frame work Convention on climate change (UNFCCC). She was also the chairperson of Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) Kaduna Chapter. Engr. Nwafulugo has received several awards and recognition from several organizations and bodies. Some of the awards are Pan African Prize for Excellence by the African Student Union Parliament, the prestigious Thomas Sankara Integrity Award by the ECOWAS Youth Council, and Award of recognition by the Nigeria Association of Technologists in Engineering. She is a Fellow of the following professional bodies: Nigerian Society of Engineers, Institute of Oil and Gas Research and Hydrocarbon Studies, Institute of Entrepreneurs, Institute of Policy Management Development, Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, Institute of Management Consultants. Her life has indeed been a life of donations and with her on the saddle, the institution she heads will continue to surpass expectations.

Duru made his debut in the Nigerian movie industry when he featured in a movie titled Missing Mask in 1989. He became prominent in the Nigerian movie industry in 1995 after featuring in an action comedy movie titled Rattle Snake, where he played a significant role of a character, Ahanna. A movie directed by the now deceased Amaya Igwe.

Duru was a recipient of the United Nations Ambassador of Peace award for his positive influence on the youths. He won the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Igbo) award in the 2020 Best of Nollywood Awards for his role in Mboputa.

Duru and his wife Adokiye got married in 2003 and both have four children together. Both attended the University of Port Harcourt.

63-year-old man publicly flogged and fined one goat for attempting to sleep with his daughter-in-law

A 63-year-old man who has been making sexual advances towards his daughter-in-law in Akero village, Bukedea district, Uganda was fined one he-goat and shs100,000 cash after publicly receiving 10 strokes of cane.

Martine Okwii, a clan elder said that the accused identified as Moses Oluka, was fond of sleeping with his daughters-in-law.

It was gathered that the victim, Alupo Jessica and her husband, Akol Samuel, reported to the clan head, Akol Joseph about her father-in-law’s sexual advances.

On his part, Akol Samuel said that his father has been beckoning his wife against her will.

The clan leader summoned a meeting with the clan elders to take disciplinary action against the randy father-in-law.

The clan elders then proposed to subject him to 10 strokes of cane, a fine of one he-goat and shs100,000.

The punishment was metted out to the accused on Tuesday, July 27.

An Abuja-based man identified as Hasan Taiwo has been arrested for allegedly beating his live-in lover and mother of four, Chibuzor Aloh, to death for allegedly using his phone charger without permission at their home in the Lugbe area of the Federal Capital Territory.

According to reports, the deceased was said to have taken the phone charger of her lover without his permission, a situation which angered him and he pounced on her and allegedly beat her severely on Saturday, July 24. Aloh was said to have fainted but was revived by neighbours who were alerted by the children. However, on Sunday, the lady's first child alerted the neighbors of his mum's deteriorating health. She was rushed to a hospital where the doctors confirmed her dead on arrival.

Confirming the incident, the FCT Police Command spokesperson, ASP Mariam Yusuf, said an investigation has been launched into the incident.
