DrStrangelove:
Congrats once again bro

Nothing is impossible for those whose minds are prepared. With some push and luck, u will get results

Ur story sort of confirms to me that applying away from ur country of nationality with the adjusted status (ur UK Biometric Residence Permit) goes some way to ameliorate the VO's fear for ur anticipated return back to base after ur sojourn to the US. Coupled with the delinking and linking of the sub-stories in ur earlier application with ur parents and the quick explanation away of a non-relationship with ur extended family in Houston gave some respite along with ur ties with ur/family businesses in Nigeria.

Pls can u shed more light on the circumstances surrounding ur friend's visa denial so that we can adduce what went wrong with his visa application and learn if u don't mind. Did he also have a BRP like u? Was he going on holiday? Did he present ties to home country like u did? Or was the VO afraid of issuing even though his case was like urs.

Thanks and Congrats

yea sure I will share their own stories too.

hello everyone, I have been a silent reader of this particular thread since 2019 and I guess it is time for me to share my own experience.
(first visa interview)
LOCATION: Lagos, Nigeria.
2018
so I went to the embassy with my parents(I was in my mid-20s) this faithful day hoping for good news at the end of the day.
VO: Can I have passports, please?
(we handed it over)
VO: why are you going to the u.s?
DAD: for visitation. We are going to visit a family(note: this family in question is my aunt's husband and children, as my aunt just recently passed away as at then)
VO: where do they stay?
DAD: Houston Tx
VO: How is the person related to you?
MOM: she is my sister
VO: what is her name?
(told him)
VO: (typing) is she still there?
MOM: oh no she is late, it is just her husband and children
(to my dad) what do you do?
DAD: a bank manager in so so so
VO: how many children do you have?
DAD: 4
VO: and how old are they?
told him
VO: where are they?
DAD: they are here in Nigeria
VO: (typed for some time) I will be denying you a visa at this time, bla bla bla
(handed us the pink slip alongside our passport
NOTE: In the application form, we had stated the fact that I am the C.O.O of my dad's company

fast-forward to this year
LOCATION: LONDON
(I applied with another friend of mine who then got an earlier date, and did his interview somewhere else in the UK but was denied. he also tried to discourage me from going simply because he was scared for me not to be denied again in the space of 3years. stubborn me, I no listen. no, be my fault, I no fit let money waste. an deny them go deny person, e no remove anything for my body)

D-DAY
(Took all necessary documents except one important thing for biometric, my UK BRP that shows my status in the UK. I asked if I should give them a photocopy and she said when I get to the interviewer's cubicle I should let her know if she will accept the photocopy. meanwhile, I should sit and watch the screen till my waiting number is displayed. that was when the hot sh*t hold me from nowhere. as I no wan dy sweat in front of VO when being interviewed, sharp sharp I run enter toilet go clear 1 or 2. I came back waiting patiently for my number to come up but it didn't. then I noticed the hall was becoming empty so I walked towards the security man to ask what up, he made a call to find out and he was told my number was called twice but no one responded, but since I am here, my number will pop up in a min)

VO: hello can I have your documents, please?

VO: Why are you going to the U.S?
ME: For tourism
VO: Where in the US will you be going?
ME: houstin(Yoruba boy like me)

VO: What?

ME: Hostin Houston texas

VO: Ok you mean Houston
ME: (smiled sheepishly) forgive my accent grin

VO: what will you be doing in Houston?
ME: site seeing and visiting the NASA Space station

VO: So you are doing your masters here?
ME: yes

VO: what course?
ME: (told her)

VO: You started last fall?
ME: EHN?
(She repeated herself multiple times before rephrasing)
VO: You resumed last September?
ME: ooh yes I did

VO: Do you have anyone in the US?
ME: non that I know of
(she chuckled and repeated what I said like she doesn't believe me)

VO: In your last application, it shows here that you said have a relative in Texas
ME: oh well that was my aunt but she is late and I am not close to her ex-husband and her kids so I can't say i have relations with them(nodded as if she agreed with me)

(started typing)

VO: What were you doing in Nigeria?
ME: working as the c.o.o of bla bla bla

VO: What do they do?
it is an agro allied company

VO: What is agro-allied?
me: (explained to her while she listened attentively)
VO: So you stopped your job so you can get a higher qualification?
ME: NO, just took some space to get my master's degree so that I can go back home and take over the family business since my dad is nearing his retirement

VO: (CHECKING HER COMPUTER) do you have siblings?
ME: YES

VO: How many?
ME: 4

VO: you are the oldest?
ME: yes

VO: Where are your siblings?
ME: 1 is here, the remaining 2 are in nigeria

VO: When do you intend to go back?
ME: MY program ends in dec, so by January i ought to be back in nigeria

VO: won't you work a little before going back?
ME: (smiled) my dad actually want me back in the company as soon as possible, so i wont be staying back in the UK and besides i also have a personal company i am running

VO: (stared at me with interest) you have a company, what do you do?
ME: Into fish processing and dog breeding

VO: what is fish processing?(listening attentively like say she dy learn new thing)
ME: (Told her how we make dried fish and export abroad)

VO: Where do you export them to?
ME: UK U.S and canada

VO: who is managing your business for you now?
ME: my 2 sisters and my parents

VO: Where is the third person?
ME: He is studying here in the uk

VO: has he travelled before?
ME: NO, this is his first travelling out of nigeria

VO: (flipping thru my passport as if looking for visas) Have you travelled before?
ME: Yes, i travelled to the UK some years back with my mom(this is like 11+ ago)

VO: To do what? (stared at me in curiosity)
ME: for xmas holiday

VO: did your brother go with you?
ME: no he didnt

VO: OK i will be holding your passport, you will be contacted on how to collect it back. have a nice day.
ME: walking away like is that it? (local man was amazed)

IF THERE WAS ONE BIG LESSON I LEARNT, IT WILL BE THAT NEVER LET ANYONE DISCOURAGE YOU. ( NO PASS THERE YOU NO GO FIT PASS BECAUSE MR. A NO PASS) NA LIE, GIVE IT A TRIAL, PEOPLE HEAD DIFFERENT.

just as GOD as shown me favour, he will also show you all favour. cheers guys

Stop applying for a while. Everytime you make an application, most of the vendors perform a hard credit search on your credit history. This leaves a mark on your credit file. Multiple applications in quick succession will make you look desperate and potentially in a bad financial state.

If you haven't lived in the UK for long or have credit facilities with a few vendors, your best bet is to apply for credit building cards. When I first arrived in 2017, capital one credit building card was my first card with £250 limit. Immediately It arrived, I started using it for everyday shopping and paid everything in full a few days later. I did this for a few months and got my limit raised to £1,200. A few years later, I now have a credit limit of £12,000 for one of my cards.

Also, you should be using vendors with soft credit check facilities. This gives you a success/rejection probability of your application, if you were to make one.

You should also open an account with ClearScore. Their app gives you an indication of vendors that have you pre-apporved for their cards.

Note to thyself, use your credit card wisely. It is not free money.

I have a question about this credit card stuff.. I am about to apply for one but I don’t understand when they charge the apr. Is it when you default in payment or whenever you use the credit card?

University of Hull is one of the cheapest. If not the Cheapest you can get.

SIr, university of hull isn't cheap. Don't use this year school fees to judge because this year fee was just because of covid reason. Next year, it is going to the normal price so again, university of hull isn't cheap.

What is your real work?

Cut soap for me grin
hello. you can apply for the student copy(1000 naira) on your school portal, they will send it to your mail immediately. so you can use that to apply for your masters to various schools that you want. when the schools have given you an offer and you are certain of which of the school you want to go, then you can apply for official transcript to be sent to that school admission board(13k naira) it takes 2weeks

Lol I hope so before they get stranded in Nigeria. Virgin Atlantic tickets have been really low lately. Dates from 2 weeks from now are about 464k , I’d advise people to grab that instead of booking Emirates and entering one chance.

the interview isn't hard. Just normal basic questions. If you are a genuine student, you will ace it with no stress so don't be scared of the interview. I did it, and I passed it infact majority passed except for people that didn't prepare or are not genuine student. In fact the interview is more like a practice session for should on case UKvi decides to interview you than an interview for them to accept you so don't let anyone scare you or make the interview look like a big thing

Just reserved a one-way ticket to UK from Nigeria with Emirates directly on their website for 261, 000 for the 20th of September. I used the promo code STUDENT, ehich gave a 10% discount and an extra luggage amounting to a total of 3*23kg.

This code is only for students but none students can use AUMCC17 or ESMADRD. I don't know the term and conditions for these.
has emirate started flying from Nigeria? Ọmọ I hope people don't do what you have said o Cos it is not looking like they would have solved their issue with the Nigerian fg. Make Una no go hook Una money for flight wey no sure and risk flight cancellation and last minute search for another available flight

Its a generic UKVI question, same question is asked in the general visitors visa form and a couple of other forms. You are meant to answer as accurate as possible, so if you have children then your answer is YES .
if he says yes(without a note to explain), and his pof isn't showing that it is enough for him and his dependant(s) he will likely get a refusal

What's the point of adding a note when you can simply say NO. Surely adding a note doesn't cause any harm

At the time of making an application alone, 'will they be travelling with you to the UK?' should simply be NO. When dependants are ready, they can then make a separate application. 2 applicants from Part 5 & 6 have been refused because of this simple English

as in ..

My good man, the only one among those three requirements that UKVI is concerned with is the 28 day rule.

The second and third rules are not necessary. UKVI stated on their website that a downloaded bank statement without stamp is okay nor did they specify that the account must show multiple transactions as proof of "activity"

I quite understand that those rules must be met before those schools issue CAS but seriously, the overreach of the compliance teams of those schools is getting quite much.

They're probably trying to be on the safer side and ensure that all their students get visa sha.

NB: My school has a CAS shield too so I know what their issues can be like.
you get!! Tho over reached, but you have no choice than to fulfill all rightousness

lmao, you were the one talking like all schools follow UKvi rules bro. I only stated what some schools does before issuing CAS and said they may not give her till she met their condition. So I don't know what you are talking about
