@Demoore is correct and I guess the calculator too. But please make sure if you have travelled outside the UK during these 60 months that you make the necessaary time allowance before applying.

I did travel to Nigeria quite a lot in the earlier days so had to wait until 28 days to BRP expiring to make my application. Otherwise I would have been out of time. Indeed I had over 250 days absences during the 60 months period and the extra days on the BRP helped me make it up.

Best of luck.

Hello @humblemoi,

I went online and used the below link and it was really helpful. It will ask you questions like when visa was issued, when you entered physically and BRP expiry and calculate when you should start the ILR application. It corresponded with what @Demoore advised.

I'm very pleased to come to the end of this adventure as I received my Passport today. The Passport Office approved my application yesterday after 2+ weeks of trying to book an interview appointment. For anyone who may need to reach them in the future to book such interview, please send an email to InterviewHubTechnicalSupport@hmpo.gov.uk with your details as requested in the original email. You may also wish to call 0300 222 1000/0000 for further assistance.

Furthermore be familiar with your all your visas application details and your UK environment as the questions usually spans from what you provided in your applications to your everyday life in the UK. You can also join the Facebook Group "Passport Appointment Help" as many folks from across the world are there (similar to here) specifically to share their experiences on applying for the UK Passport and the Interview.

Thanks to everyone who set up this and the original Nairaland threads were we started this journey more than 5 years ago.

Also as we mourn the passing of our Queen and pray for the peaceful repose of her soul, we pray that God Save Our King.

Hi Newbie,

Hence my question is for those who may have been invited to attend similar interview as its not a unique situation. Many first time passport applicants go through this interview if you check other immigration boards or groups. Indeed the guidance for booking is in the invite but also the guidance for applying for the ILR, FLR, Spousal visas etc are in the website but here we are providing further clarity on these processes for ourselves.

Dear all,
I kindly ask if anyone has been requested to book an appointment for a passport interview to please let me know how they were able to secure the appointment as its not as straightforward as the guidance paints. Thank you.

My question was going to be, What is Passport interview? As I had not heard of it before. But I have just read up on it on the gov.uk pages.

May I ask if you are the one wanting an interview (in which case, I'd ask why) or if they have invited you for one (in which case, I'd say the guidance for booking it should be in the invite)

From what I just read on the gov.uk pages, they stated that they will invite people to book appointments. It seems to be if they do not have enough information to identify the person.

Hello everyone, I hope we are doing well and managing during this Cost of Living Crisis with the quintupling of energy bills. I hope we won't resort to Abacha stove at this rate.

Congratulations to all who've completed this process and obtained the Passport. Would anyone who did a Passport Interview please share how they were able to book an interview and what the interview was like ?

Thanks in advance for your response. God bless.

Hello gòod people,

Hope our weekends have been great. I have a few questions that I will appreciate your help with.

1. Is there any one here working in the health and safety sector, or HSE or oil and gas industry who can give me some tips how to get a job in that sector or industry or both?

2. I have been out of work for about 3 years (pregnancy and childcare) and looking to return to work, any advice on what to do to break in. Any remote work advice especially as I still have under 5s to care for.

Many thanks for your responses.

God bless.

So touching. I have experienced where one machine in such industry rubbished a worker's hand. I vomitted for a whole day, Crazily enough, the industry calls it negligence and nothing can you do about it.

Actually you can take the employer to industrial court. It's not negligence unless a thorough and detailed investigation determines it to be so. The problem is Nigerians do not know their rights with respect to Health and Safety. The family can ask a court to permit them to get a competent HSE investigator to review the case and write a report and I daresay it will reveal that the employer is liable. They can then use that to sue the employers.

uote author=Fynebouy post=82527099]Good day e-fam,

Dear Romeo and Juliet,

Yes it was Super Priorty; we had the appointment at Croydon on Saturday and the email came on Monday so it was quick. Like you I too had additional information we failed to include in the Form but we did a lengthy cover letter and added all the additional information we needed to. I think you wouldn't have a problem if you added it in the letter and explained that you had missed it out. No venture no gain. Best of luck.

Good day e-fam,

I too want to report that I got an approval email from UKVI on the FLR(M) extension application. I followed the advise here more or less and included more documents. I think for the proof of residency, I sent over 30 documents, not to mention the other categories of requested documents. Although my current BRP expires in like 2 months time; I had gone ahead to apply as I had been out of the country for quite some time in the last 12 months and I didn't want any issues. Or my thoughts were if those absences presented a problem, then the time available will be enough for me to go back and appeal or re-apply so I don't fall into unapproved presence incountry.

I now have to wait for my BRP.

To all others who are still on course, best of luck and God be with you.

Hi All,

I submitted my application on Friday 14th September using super priority service. Got an approved email today (16th September).

For anyone this might help, I used NARIC for my initial application from Nigeria. All I had to do now was order a reprint service from NARIC using exact documents I used in 2016.

Documents submitted:

My passport & BRP
Hubby & daughter's passport
Daughter' birth certificate
NARIC certificate
Degree certificate
Marriage Certificate
Hubby payslip
Hubby letter from employer
Hubby's 6 months bank statement
Title deeds of our house
Mortgage statement
Council tax bill
Random selection of bills and letters received for the past 2 years (It was plenty o.. lol)

I paid for scanning service so wasn't bothered.

I wish everyone yet to apply all the best.

Dear E-Fam,

Good day to all.

Please I need your guidance. I booked an appointment wth UKVCAS to submit my supporting documents re FLR(M). I got a weekend date but I want to change the appointment day. Please how do I do this? I have an appointment for a Saturday but due to other issues, want to bring it to the Wednesday before that weekend. Is this possible?

Then in completing my form, I had one pertinent information I didn't include under the question "Do you have any other reason for wanting to stay in the UK", can I include that in a cover letter and include the necessary document in my package?

I look forward to a response/guidance.

Many thanks

Dear E-fam,

Una well done. Good work you are all doing here. God bless you/us.

I am putting together my documents for externsion and I am very confused over this proof of English competency. When I applied for the visa in 2016, it wasn't a requirement. Or was it? As I did not write the English Language tests. Is it compulsory? Are there routes to exemption I might have used then? Please help me out.

By the way, I had my first degree in Nigeria, and my MSc in Aberdeen. I look forward to clarification.

As a dependant of a Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 4 Point Based System there is no minimum period that you can stay outside of the UK...... during renewal

However if you plan to apply for ILR , then the home office is waiting and have a rule that you cannot be out for more than 180 days in 12 calendar period within the 5 years period .... If you want to do ILR / settlement then take this very serious to count the days outside

Hello all and thanks for the advice. My spouse is a British Citizen, we have two kids who are also citizens but I am on the spousal dependent visa. Due to the business I run in Nigeria, I have to go back home often so yes I am at risk of staying over the 180 days cumulative. Is this a requirement for spouses of citizens?

Also where can i find information on putting together my application for renewal. Could anyone direct me to the relevant site on Nairaland? God bless

Hello E-Fam. Good morning to all. Please I need clarifications or advise. I am on the spousal dependent visa and coming up to renewal/extension. First visa is usually 33months and I still have up to August to apply. My query is how much time am I allowed to stay out of UK on this visa without it being detrimental to my renewal/extension?

Thanks for your responses.

Your BO is right. TBs matures on a Thursday while bidding is a day before i.e. Wednesday. It is the funds realized on Wednesday that is used to settle those that matured the next day of Thursday.

Thanks so much for this info. So how do I roll over or do I just let the funds sit in my account for almost 2 weeks before I get involved again. Please what options are available for me?
Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Fynebouy: 1:32pm On Jan 30, 2018
I really don't know what to do as my BO gave me a TB certificate that is maturing 01/02/2018. I would have thought it would mature just before or on same day as next TB. So can i roll over that particular certificate even though the auction is tomorrow. Or what is the way to go about it.

Also my BO is not responding to my calls or emails so I really cant get any information off him.

Thanks for your help.

In 2012 I decided I would relocate from Scotland to Canada, then I applied for a job. The company in Canada sent a email and we agreed a timing for the interview, by phone. They called and we spoke. A few days later they asked for another interview to clarify a few things, we repeated this like 3 times eventually they made an offer, we negotiated and they offered to process my TWP. I decided to travel back to Nigeria to spend time with family. They processed my visa via Lagos and for two years we were on this process. The key thing is they never saw me face to face, never asked me to go to any office in Scotland or England or Nigeria to confirm my person. All done online.

A friend of mine works with a multinational in London, his direct supervisor sits in Texas in USA. They see maybe 3 times a year. This has been on for over 6 years.

One day Nigeria shall catch up with the rest of the world in the ease of doing business, until then.... do what you can to get what you need.
