ceaser:

I was doing some windowshopping for someone with interest in going solar, so I visited some shops, not in Lagos though.

I now saw this africell panel that looked of 250 watts. So I asked the guy in the shop the size and he says it's 300 watts panel. I stared carefully and noticed the label under the glass pane (between the glass and the top horizontal aluminium frame) had it written - Africell 270w - and queried the guy why he said it's 300 watts. He simply replied that 300 watts is stamped on the label at the back (obviously the sticker that is accessible for falsification) and that I should disregard the 270w written at the front (a place where you can't get to falsify except you wanna break the glass).

I just smiled, but with deep resentment and anger brewing within me. I was so sad that I couldn't even continue with the shopping.

With these new revelations, I think going forward I have to do a re-evaluation, verification and review of my go to vendors for solar equipments, especially the panels, and that includes our hitherto trusted sellers on this thread (and I have indeed dealt items and referrals worth millions from them, although they can't tell that it's ceaser). I will need to be highly convinced that I won't be sold a dud for me to keep my patronage.

I recently got some 250w that werr the exact dimensions as 200w I had before.
Wanted to ask here even if they're physically the same size

90 to 10% or 100 to 20% is much more like it. The lower boundary is more critical than the upper boundary. If you are doing 80% on LFP, an equivalent of LA won't be 50% but rather 30% DOD

I've an app on my phone that doesn't let me charge above 80%.

I actually do about 80% to 50% on my own batteries, I hyper-sized for my load but knowing I can do 20/10% if it gets critical is re-assuring

https://news.umich.edu/tips-for-extending-the-lifetime-of-lithium-ion-batteries/

Minimize the amount of time the battery spends at either 100% or 0% charge. Both extremely high and low “states of charge” stress batteries. Consider using a partial charge that restores the battery to 80% SoC, instead of 100%. If that’s not possible, then unplug the device as soon as it reaches 100%.
Samsung and LG suggest that their phones should be recharged when they reach a 20% state of charge.

Yesterday, when I visited that thread, was the first time I would be seeing that type of inverter. Apparently it is not very common and you may have issues with getting support and first-hand experiences from people who may have used it.

Also, since you are on a budget, I will advise that you get a modular system with stand-alone components. This will give you as much flexibility as possible, especially when you need to upgrade. This inverter system thing is a journey. You will keep modifying your system as your needs vary.

How soon do you need the inverter? I am expecting some 1000w (peak, and 500w continuous) and 1,600w pure sine transformerless inverter in a week time, and their prices promise to affordable.

If you wish to add a solar feature, I could throw in my new 60A PWM Solar Charge Controller you can start with for a measly 10k.

I won't advise you to buy his type of battery though. Go for something better.

Would the 1600w come in 24v?

You actually have to pay duties on what you import.

Only gifts and personal items are included.

If I ship expensive items from Aliexpress to the UK I'm billed for duties too.

Still doubt that a single 150w panel will charge 180amp battery full.

2nd thing, is the 180ah really 180ah? grin
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by gadgetplanetng: 2:41pm On Dec 01, 2021
Reasons why I would go for them over Tubular are:

1. They charge faster, can take much more charging amps
2. They last for roughly 10x cycles more (all things equal, they would still be running when an equivalent Tubular is due for replacement)
3. Consume less space and can be indoors as they don't vent acid
4. They are lighter to move about
5. I'd rather just monitor voltages and parameters on my screen than do this in addition to monitoring acid level.

abit more? So it's nt entirely worth d change from tabular?

Was thinking I'll get x2 as ppl say looking solely at d price for a 200ah costing 380

Please I need help with 500w-800w inverter
And the best 12v 150ah/200ah battery.
Just something small.

Something similar to this thread without the solar panel.

The inverter he got is a good deal price wise though I've not seen reviews on durability.

The battery he got has a lot of bad reviews

u use lifepo4? What can you say but the duration..from ur post the lifepo4 can do x2 of lead acid

I use LiFePo4.

I'd rather use x1.5 if I want to use a factor but for peace of mind I use the same size.

It's not advisable draining LiFePo4 to 0% regularly (sometimes you drain your phone/laptop and it doesn't come on anymore)

Rule of Thumb for Lithium to last long is Charging to 80% and draining to 20% (usable 60%) which is a bit more than the ideal usable 50% of Lead Acid.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by gadgetplanetng: 5:03am On Dec 01, 2021
My understanding is, you are advised to use the Lead Acid batteries to not more than 50% of capacity while LiFePo4 batteries would allow you drain them close to 0%.
That's the difference.

I still use the same calculation for Lead Acid for LiFePo4 though.

Hello I need advice from solar users ND installers

I use a tabular battery 200ah*2 4 panels ND there abouts

I've been hearing from people's saying a 200ah lifepo lithium battery serves as a 400ah tabular in terms of duration ND power load

I want to know if this is true

Rumor has It that tabular batteries barely last 3yrs ND lifepo does over 6yrs

So I'd like to know If all those claims right

Moving to a new place ND thinking of switching to this lithium batteries

Pls is this a good move as I want more lasting battery duration( I get like 14hrs from d tabular..the lifepo can do 24hrs?)

Pls educate me by making d wrong move

Thanks

I looked around online on jumia, jiji and konga for ranges of 500watt inverters and chargers. After a rigorous check and comparison, I settled for this (picture attached) for 35k.

Where did you get the inverter from
