No load. Can only know if you say what it is going to power or how many units your prepaid consumes daily toyeoye: Good day to you all. I have decided to install a set-up for my house to power everything. The installer suggested I get a 7kva setup and listed below what I need to get: 7kv IGBT Inverter (4)200Ah/12v battery (6)450w solar panel 80A mppt charge controller 10mm2c wire (1coil) 6mmsc wire battery rack
My issue now is to know if this is right for uninterrupted power supply and what brands will give me peace of mind.
Your expertise and guidance is highly appreciated.

And their ads were following me everywhere last week padolife: Hi y’all,
I want to warn members and the general public from buying from energymall.ng especially solar panels. [img][/img] I bought 4 units of 350w solar panels at 77,000 each for a total of N308,000. They showed me the original Felicity panel as sample and then shipped me fake 180w panels. I hope those panels are up to 180 sef.
Find picture of said fake panel nameplate below. All effort to reach them after has proven abortive.
It’s difficult doing business in Nigeria if people are looking to rip you off at any chance that they get. If only someone had posted their experience online, I wouldn’t have fallen victim.
Please do not buy from energymall.ng they will scam you |

I know someone using this type of battery since 2019 till date with almost new backup time. Connected to solar alone, like 30% discharge per day, lol You've bought it already just manage the usage. ManAdii:
It is people like you that won't make heaven. I was the one who bought those sunfit batteries and before I got them I came here to seek for reviews from self acclaimed experts like you but everyone went mum maybe because I didn't contact you for quotes. After I got you started saying it's fake.
Make e be fake. I go use am like that. 2 Likes |

The panels are also going to be 24v oldienavie:
12v to 24v is not an upgrade, its just a preference. Thats why I was asking why you are going 24v cos most systems are 12v. And you said you are scoping your installation as 24v because you have a 24V inverter.
What it means is that, you'd spend more and probably have more difficulty getting your setup than if you were to go 12V....
Having said that, I am not a solar expert but you didn't tell me a reason for going 24V instead of the more common 12V.
If you are powering an industrial complex your savings/gains might be significant if you choose 24V but if you are just powering items in a 3 bedroom flat, not sure it will make much difference from 12V which will be easier to source and probably much cheaper components. |

Nice! Still available? These look good to experiment odimbannamdi:
Took 4 units each of the 330w and 540w series of these panels.
They do look good. Sizes look real for their capacity. I can't believe the 540w is well taller than me... . Na money to take mount them i dey find now... .
Will update the house about how they output when I hang them. |

For those with Hybrid inverters or mppt controllers,
How close is the solar wattage displayed to the size of panels you installed?
Eg if you have 2kw of panels do you see close to that in your input I'm looking at mine today and seeing 5% of installed capacity instantaneously right now (series connection).
I'd replace the panels next week though but I'm just curious |

ManAdii: Please someone should recommend a good solar panel brand. And how many watts do you guys think would be sufficient for my setup (1.2kva 24V inverter, 2 * 100AH batteries)? I just ordered some from Auxano to PH. 4 300W should be perfect for you for free light daytime (or 2 depending on the capacity of your charge controller and not using more than 50% of the batteries). |

Power on demand for me I can be comfortable for hours with gen, inverter, grid off and full but knowing whenever I want power I have options is reassuring sethtsadopp: So I was just thinking randomly about what exactly is the ultimate aim of what we are all trying to achieve with Solar? Is it uninterrupted power supply? Is it cheaper electricity? Is it about the environment? Or other things? And which among these is the most important for most of us here?
Because for example, if it's about saving money, from some rough calculations I have done, it appears off-grid solar is simply the most expensive way to make electricity, No? So does off grid even make any sense? Or is it best to combine grid and solar to create that uninterrupted supply (and cheaper bacause of grid?).
What are your thoughts on these?

Canadian Solar & Jinko are ranked the same though. Both China too FireTheSun:
I am not sure of how to respond to this, because l am not an expert on the subject but like you, l asked the same question when l wanted to begin my own RE journey. Let me recount, in details.
The explanation a trusted Senior Bros gave me was: if you are asked to go to a Car Dealership and pick any of two Vehicles on Sale, a Mercedes Benz or a Hyundai, which one will you pick? I did not ley him finish before l responded: Benz-er! He said why would l pick a Benz and not a Hyundai afteral, both of them can take me home or take me anywhere l want to go, both uses fuel and four Tires, he went on and on about their similarities.
I jumped-in and said well, Benz costs more than a Hyundai! He countered again and said: Even that should not be so, afteral, they are both Cars and do the same thing: take occupants from Point A to B.
Being someone who had used a Mercedes Benz 230E V-Boot in the late 90's, l countered back by saying, try to negotiate a bend at very high speed and you will see how the Wheels of a Bens will not just turn (like all other cars do) but also bend sideways, to give you added stability by lowering its centre of gravity (while other Cars will likely summersault as a result), not to mention the internal comforts and German Engineering ruggedness! Motor that just refuse to stop working.
He then told me: The Canadian Solar is like your Mercedes Benz, while the Jinkos and Yinkos are the Hyundai of this world!. Benz might be costlier but you get what you pay for! He added: I work hard for money so l wont just throw it away, if there is no additional value to the extra cost. He has been using his Canadian Solar ever since, long before l bought mine. This story always remind me that "Cheaper" is not always Better but it will do, if availability of funds are a major issue". 3 Likes 1 Share |

Batteryless hybrid inverter (with a lot of panels) Feshizzy: I greet dem Bosses in the house,
Please i have a very delicate question,
Is is possible to get a solar and inverter only system without battery?
The function of this is to use only solar during the day and switch on nepa/grid at night without having any backup battery in place.
It's important to note that the PV should be the only one working during the day with drawing power from nepa, And it should be automated in a way that if sun goes down or more power is required it can tap small from grid
Why I'm saying this, is so we don't need to start disconnecting nepa during the day, 1 Like 1 Share |

olopan: Please What column are you referring to in first sentence.
Do you have an idea on how to come up a formula or how to without making the inverter unnecessarily big?
Ok for instance I should only edit, load, number of load and day and night hours while the rest calculate automatically. It would be intuitive if those are highlighted maybe light green so without the video I know I can edit that. For the inverter sizing, maybe a new cell (surge allowance can be created with an if -- else conditional that outputs only the largest surge value from all equipment entered Or the various surge values go in a hiden column then you use MAX() to pick the largest value 1 Like |
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by gadgetplanetng: 8:03am On Jun 03, 2022 |
@olopan maybe color-code (green) the columns that should be edited.
Also the items with a surge can have a factor of xx to determine inverter size
Good one |

1. How long does the 42% last? 2. The inverter might have high self consumption (is the 42% before you start turning things on?) 3. Anyone else can contribute |

brightk: fellow nairalanders pls come to my aid. i contacted a friend to purchase some pv modules.. Initial calculation was to get 300w*4 panels to charge a 4.8kwh lifepo4 battery.. Even the battery sef get e own story.. I am using an epever 30a 100v mppt controller
At first i didnt pay attention to what the panel was generating . But i later began to find out that the whole thing was not performing.. Pv modules are africell 300w.. According to my the installer whom i purchased the pvs from the connection was done in parallels. i was getting 29v 10-12a (pv input) during peak hours... This to me was unacceptable... even if there was a longer cable run because i leave down stairs (a storey building). When issues arose as to leakages on the roof i was determined to use the opportunity to check the panels . I borrowed a pv meter and the testing was done off peak hours.. voltage and current were about 22v and 4.99a. which translated to 110w for one panel.
Now i changed the connection to 2series parallel 2 series.. My readings were sometimes 45/47v 5/6a, 50v/3a during peak period (pv input)...
I am beginning to think i was sold panels with stickers of questionable datasheet.. On a second thought if the panels were living up to expectations, the current in parralel was very close to my pv input current.... E come be like say my journey into the solar industry na wrong entry What direction are the panels facing? |
