Valto: if his load is truly 1000w, why suggest 7.5kw inverter for him, isnt that an overkill? he simply need a 5kva 48v inverter. your technician must not buy everything for you, u can buy things by yourself. u can get ANERN 48V 100A mppt, sorotec 48V 80A mppt, EPEVER 48V 80A mppt all at less than 400K. Probably to allow for future expansion. I've a 5kv hybrid and I'm not sure my load has gone above 250w before but at least I know in future I only need to buy panels and batteries as necessary |

Interested in the reason too His load is less than 1000w alstacs: Kindly shed more light on this. Even if the 4 batteries, at present, are sufficient to power his load load for over 24 hours? And the size of the inverter is to accommodate future expansion of the battery bank? Valto: your 4pcs 220ah tubular batteries might not be enough to efficiently run a 7.5kw inverter, u need atleast 8pcs. 4 or 5kw hybrid inverter is your best bet for now. |

How can we solve this problem? On our own? JavaScript90: Mods leave this thread in politics. This is describing the consequences on fraud in Nigeria and how Nigerians and the present government can fight it.
As a Nigerian, there are many apps you can't see, talk more of downloading from playstore or appstore. There are websites you can't visit and a lot of online programs you can't participate. Many people from poor African countries are earning a lot of dollars doing survey. If these surveys was available to Nigerians I am sure it will help a lot of youths to break even.

It's affordable to use everyday till something major goes bad which would happen since you aren't buying a brand new car |

MeeLan: hmmm. Car batteries are "starter batteries" But maybe u are only powering up ur laptop charge, cos such batteries will lead to high energy loss The main difference between car batteries and inverter batteries is the thickness of the plates. I experiment a lot I've used a car battery (65Ah) with a PSW inverter to supply power (2 fans, tv/decoder (a bit then put off), phones, laptop, energy bulbs) They just won't last long with regular deep discharge but if you use just a bit before recharging (how it's used in the car), it would be fine. |

Though it was up and running since morning when the sun was up and turn off by 5pm to conserve battery for usage at night when the charge controller read 12.8v.doesn’t that show that the battery is full for usage at night? Your lamp isn't good quality. The one at my home was installed August 2017, comes on around 7pm and I still see it on by 5am. samnaija: On my remote it is written 2 to 6 hour if u set it. but if you leave it on induction , it will come on at sun down, 6.50pm and by 2am it is off battery dead . So what I do, is on some then by 11pm switch it off then on others to morning. Most don't don't last 12hrs at a stretch at least my own and my neighbor. But because of my experience in solar I don't let them get depleted like my neighbor, that is why Mine is working while all is own has packed up |

Nigerian mechanics that refuse to do things properly make them that way. |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by gadgetplanetng: 3:44pm On Dec 21, 2021 |
I always thought solar charging was better for batteries (especially LA) and Charge controllers ensure a constant voltage to the battery samnaija: Please when dealing with batteries never say you will do away with charging especially with nepa. It is always good once a while to charge with nepa or gen. The voltage is constant. If you can't fix the inverter get an external charger. |

kaziem: Thanks for being there.
That means I should not bother on the Inverter since I am not charging the battery wt Nepa.
Attached is the pics of my CC, I wish it is compatible wt LiFePO4 charging.
Also, I am looking at that tactel LiFePO4 brand like the one adrusa bought. I am also open to any reliable brand.
I will also appreciate advice from other experts please... You can define charge settings on that so it's okay. http://www.chinasuoer.com/mppt-solar-controller/325.htmlExperts can take over from here.

Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by gadgetplanetng: 2:47pm On Dec 21, 2021 |
kaziem: Thanks @ gadgetplanetng for your response. My load is fine during the day with... - led bulbs = roughly 45w - Tv and decoder = roughly 130w - Refrigerator = 110w - Washing machine = 500 - 600w - Fans = roughly = 120w - the inverter itself = ??
The solar do take care of these load during the day and still charge the battery full before 12noon.
My night use is mainly lights (50w), fans (60w) and phone charging. Total of roughly 150w
Less I forget, I run fully on solar i.e off-grid. I only switch to Nepa when fixing things on inverter system or once in 2 weeks to allow inverter to rest for a few hrs. Only my pumping machine and bathroom water heater is directly on Nepa/gen.
Also my soelix inverter is 24v and I will be considering 24v LiFePO4. The inverter has a battery setting to select either smf or tubular, the main reason why I am in doubt if it's compatible wt Li battery.
If monitoring means just using the corner eye to check the reading while passing, then this is fine. If the inverter doesn't charge the battery then that doesn't matter. What matters is the CC and if it has the adequate settings |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by gadgetplanetng: 12:56pm On Dec 21, 2021 |
You didn't mention your load. I haven't heard of LiFePo4 exploding Most modern cc's have Lithium settings If your inverter can handle 15V it should be okay Babysitting/monitoring is far less on Lithium than Tubular/LA. I basically just look at my voltage anytime I pass my setup and that's it. A properly fused and BMS'd setup shouldn't give you any issues. kaziem: Hello Gurus in the house. I salute you all on your informative and educative discussions on this thread. Please I need your advice on my next steps in the solar power journey. I currently have a 24v 2kva solar inverter system wt 1280 panels, 2kva soelix pure sine wave inverter, souer 60A mppt CC and 2x200Ah Lead acid smf batteries. All are 1yr old. Presently I am not satisfied with the performance of the battery as I have to reduce my night load from 8pm-7am to less than 100w for it to last till next morning. With this, I am considering switching to LiFePO4 most especially because of its longer lifespan but I have some concerns: 1. Fear of explosion from overcharging, high temp etc associated with Li battery. For me, safety is of utmost priority. 2. Will the LiFePO4 work wt my Soelix inverter and 60A mppt CC? Or I will need to get another inverter and CC. 3. Someone on this thread once said Li battery also need babysitting/monitoring. What type of monitoring are we talking about as I do travel for work?
If I will need to stick with the LA smf for safety or huge cost reason, I will be considering going for 4x 150Ah but top quality at reasonable price. Which brand will you recommend that will go averagely 3yrs & comfortably? as I wish to switch my attention to other things.
Please pardon my long write-up and thank you for your attention and forthcoming responses. |

SuleimanKano: Unfortunately, the vendor didn't offer any of the above suggestions. The poor sealing is definitely worth exploring, would you be kind enough to offer solutions moving forward? Thank you. Reach out to him if you can ship to him and he fixes and returns. Only a company selling bad products would refuse to give a warranty. Solar lights are basically, 1. Led Panel, 2. Solar Panel, 3. Lithium Battery & 4. Board that contains circuit, detector, remote sensor, etc. 1. If water gets in, the board would short circuit or rust and everything won't work, board can be replaced or components fixed. 2. Water can also affect the LED 3. If poor quality Lithium batteries are used they would go bad. Replacement is easy. 4. If the solar panel is too small for the batteries, they'd never charge properly and go bad soon. If they're ever opened use high quality sillicon sealant for the re-sealing. |

SuleimanKano: Good morning House, am forced to bring to the members of these thread.
In brief,
I bought 10 units of 60W Yohako All In One Solar Street Lights around February from Justcallmenuel fast forward October 7 out of the 10 units no longer works, the client called again that an additional unit no longer works making a total of 8 units not working again.
I reach out to Justcallmenuel and usually that we would be needing additional units of the street light, he said they're available and comes with one year warranty. I told him unfortunately, the previous ones I bought no longer works, he said he'll inform the company about it, after couple of days, I reached out to him again regarding my complaint as the client is on my neck, Justcallmenuel reply was "The company said there is no warranty on it".
This is concerning as the client plans to install more of these products for his factory in Zaria, Kaduna. I usually just order from the manufacturers. I get the best quality (Nigerian importers tend to bring in lower quality stuff for more profits) and they've always sent replacement parts to me if their products fail within warranty (which is rare). I suspect it's poor sealing damaging the lamps so likely water. I'd expect the vendor to at least offer to take them in and fix and reseal if they won't be replaced. I've fixed a couple myself and I'm not a technician. |

mustaphagreens: Yes, they are new panels. The max voltage from the panels is 31v (I get 28v/29v/30v/31v). I don't have a DC clamp meter but I can get one. I didn't even note the brand and it's hard to check now that they are on the roof. I will call the engineer that installed them and provide more details tomorrow. Mine get the max voltage immediately there's a little sun so there might be an issue with position/angle. Also the factors like wire thickness and co GeorgeD1 mentioned might also come to play. |

mustaphagreens: OMG , I will return it but I would like to confirm that the panels are without fault too. Is there a means to measure the current going into the system from the panels? Do you have a DC clamp meter? Fluke, etc Are they new panels? What brand and specs? Have you checked voltage from the panels? You should get the full voltage reading 36/38/41v if they are well positioned |
