Politics / Re: U.S. Excludes Nigeria From Africa’s Democracy Summit by gaquilani: 10:09am On Mar 20, 2013
(AFP) – US President Barack Obama will welcome four African leaders to Washington this month, the White House said Monday.

Obama on March 28 will meet with the president of Senegal, Macky Sall; of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma; of Malawi, Joyce Banda; and the prime minister of Cape Verde, Jose Maria Pereira Neves.

Spokesman Jay Carney said the leaders will discuss issues that include economic development and reinforcing democracy in sub-Saharan Africa.

The multi-party meeting is not unprecedented: in late July 2011 Obama met with the presidents of Benin, Guinea, Nigeria and Ivory Coast.

Obama, the son of a Kenyan-born father and a US-born mother, has visited sub-Saharan Africa only once as president — he made a short trip to Ghana in July 2009.

it is funny that they omitted the little detail in bold

You seem to have missed the point i am trying to make. We should not start acting as if these problems are new. The nations in the G8 have been talking about them (even before the G8 was formed) The Basically, what i am saying is that
1. The G8's complaint is not news to us and it will only be solved by Nigerians and not the G8.

I disagree with this, "Yuo see, your post illustrates the enigma of what the Nigerian man is today. I.e someone who does not even know what he wants.". Gbawe:

Yuo see, your post illustrates the enigma of what the Nigerian man is today. I.e someone who does not even know what he wants. In the past, we criticised Western leaders for abetting African corruption and profligacy instead of condemning it. Now we have a crop of young Western Leaders willing to speak up against corruption and misrule in Africa as we always implored them to do when their conniving predecessors preferred the approach of 'see no evil'. Suddenly, we change tact.

This new development is now "imperialist". It is breaching our sanctity as a "sovereign Nation". It is indicative of a "domination agenda" even when real facts and current state of affairs indicate otherwise. America, for example, has moved on vastly with its shale gas endeavour that will help the nation reduce its demand for Nigerian oil. Not too far in the future, they won't need a drop of oil from us at all. Where does that leave the simplistic argument that the USA relates to us because of its oil needs alone? Some of us should get real and start thinking deeper and more robustly otherwise 'underdogs' is what we will remain if some submissions here are indicative of the Nigerian 'educated class'.

You seem to have missed the point i am trying to make. We should not start acting as if these problems are new. The nations in the G8 have been talking about them (even before the G8 was formed) The Basically, what i am saying is that

Who said it started today?? Are you sensible?

Didn't GEJ promise transformation?

If he intends to carry out that transformation, then we would see him going in a different direction. Yet we see your "Messiah" spending Billions on Ashawos, a VP's house, A mission house for "madam fellow widows" etc..

I welcome the attention of the international community as it will help bring our thieving bastardLeaders back to their senses...

So you honestly thing the "international community" will solve you country's problems. you think the international community can stop people from stealing. You thing the international community will stop corruption in YOUR country. WAKE UP!

The men in suit are not his security. And the police men are trying to pose with a super star. If you are a police man and you see chris brown or any other popular celebrity, won't you take a picture with him?. Did you expect the concert to have only one police man or do you expect the whole of eko hotel to have on police man.

If you know how easy it is to get an M16(similar to an AK47) in America you won't complain. do you expect the mopol men to use hand guns. And gun na gun

What I'm actually bitter about is the fact that he has to display his stupidity once again to the world to see. He obviously didn't consider how religiously polarized nigeria is. That display is highly unintelligent. I wouldn't have been bothered If he did this in the private of his room away from from a publicized event as this. I SHAKE MY HEAD for the leaders of this country
Do you realize that he is a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and he has the right to practice any religion he chooses. When OBJ was doing his own noboby complained. For God sake how does kneeling down in church affect the performance of a government official.

wiegraf: This is actually a good question, it highlights one core issue many people who don't share your faith would have with it (this applies to a lot of religions). The desire to return to the past and hamper progress because you've somehow been brainwashed into think that period was a better one. Incredibly, many even thinking it was more enlightened. If you can't see what I'm saying, think of muslims and their desire to have sharia, drafted 1400 years ago when slavery and various other abominations were the norm, in today's world.

Throw out all your rights, your technology, modern medicine, etc. Dream up a world that existed 2000 years ago that is better than the current one if you want. Just don't expect others trying to aid humanity positively and objectively, by like say establishing human rights or medical research etc, to indulge you.

Guy if you don't want to contribute, just keep quite

acidtalk: That is the statistics of how unintelligent the average Nigerian youth is.

Our youths of today lack wisdom. They can barely reason and interact wisely.

The manner of BBM broadcast, facebook post, twitter messages you see each passing day will make you weep for this Nation.

Everyone has placed material gains above every other thing, even above the fear of God. See the guy above talk of their bank account when we are talking of a pathetic situation.

The Religious Leaders, Parents, Teachers, Traditional Rulers, Politicians and Government, they have failed this generation.

We don't need a Minister of Education, Labour, Youths and Sports because those are the major Ministries that has caused more harm than good to this generation.

Sorry, wat does d meaning of the word incumbent have to do with wisdom. These guys are using their talents like their colleagues in other countries. I think dey devote more of their time into improving their art like people with university degrees try to improve demselves in their fields.

1) Why the US?
ANS: It is a country renowed for its

2) Which Unis did you apply to
ANS: RRRR University, AAAA UNiversity, huhu University, hkjloj University

3) Why international business?
ANS: It will equip me with the skill necessary to run my family business, dat will will be established once popsi retires. and education m from the Us will give me an edge over other over others in d industry.

6) Why not Britian or another country?
ANS: Based on my experience the American system has a curriculum emphasizes practical knowledge and US has the a very dynamic education system dat will give everybody a chance 2 succeed.

7) Why hhhh uni and not yy uni?

ANS: hhh curricu;lum is more flexible and fits more with my goals and aspirations. Thier curricullim seems to have more courses for the kind of business
I intend to pursue. I.e, I will get to choose 5 elextivea in hhhh as opposed to 3 in yy. Having many electives will give me the opportunity to have a very diverse
in MBA program. Secondly, I was attracted to hh cos it is a very old skul?

cool Tell me about their curriculum?

ANS: four major courses dat include ing , huhh, int? And other required courses dat focus on ag,
, os. It was this diversity dat attracted me to d skul.

11) Why don't you want to work
ANS: Mommy and dada want to prepare me to to run d family business.

9) career prospects for international busines
ANS:With the increase in investment in nigeria companies now find the neeed to expand into other African countries, internatinal biz graduates fill dis gap with their knowledge of subjects like international mkting bla bla bla.

Have you noticed that you never see the rich on the street claiming to defend their religion (be it Christianity, Islam, Judaism etc). okunoba: This is from

Winston Churchill’s book “The River War,” about the Anglo-Egyptian campaign in Sudan in the 1890s. Among its many memorable passages is Churchill’s view of Islam. :

How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property—either as a child, a wife, or a concubine—must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen: all know how to die. But the influence of the religion paralyzes the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proseltyzing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science—the science against which it had vainly struggled—the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Ro

Remember the people who produce things that are considered to be blasphemous are just a bunch of close minded people, who probably lack a basic understanding of the philosophy and principles of any religion they practice. Remember most religions preach peace. In other for ALL OF US TO LIVE IN PEACE we have to ignore bigots sometimes, because they will always cause trouble irrespective of the religion they practice.
