To all those who got their approval mails recently I say congratulations, it's time to start with ticket Booking and sort yourself out. For those recently denied, don't give hope, another trial may secure it for you.
All the best

@ Gastuso, do not underestimate d power of God tru prayers. u sounded like d guy who built d ship (Titanic) and said " even God can't sink d ship" but we all know what happened afterwards. I saw someone who got his Canadian student visa without Police clearance and Medicals. it took me some time to believe it could happen. God can Do all things. just Believe. we need encouragement here.....most of us here can't say for sure dat dia app was perfect b4 submission. but does it mean every body here would be refused ? Do d best u can and leave d rest for God. who is d perfect master to perfect ur efforts. FAITH means a lot my friends.
I don't seems to understand the reason why you drew such conclusion on my personality. Can you please relate me to any post in which I discard the importance of prayers and in the power of the Supernatural? To be honest with you, I dislike attacking someone personality and will never engage in such a scenario in any forum. Or wait a minute, are you mistaking me for someone else?
Please you need to clarify this. Thank you

Hello house.. Please, this is getting out of hand and I am getting frustrated. CIC has finally won getting me frustrated and thinking of withdrawing my application. I submitted my application on the 30th of March, but no medical request call or Response and my international passport is with them. And that is preventing me from applying to doing another alternative. Sent mail to them but no response, tried linking my application online because I did Paper Route and it's saying Application not found. I am frustrated and I need them to say something.. Please help...
Hi Folk, the only help you need is yourself. Thinking and working yourself out is not the best option, it will only complicate your health in terms of HBP. I don't think anyone here can help you talk to the VO in charge of ur case. All you need to do is, for instance, if your application is delayed above the 14 weeks waiting period, visit CIC website and use case specific inquiry to explain your plight and also write to VAC Accra. I think they will respond to you.
Best of luck, this is my view and should not be misinterpreted in any form

... I was so inquisitive I had to confirm from Uni Ottawa site for electronic business technology. bros abeg no school in Canada accepts less than a 2.1 for masters and the 2.1 must be a very strong one except are ready to keep spending 26,000 naira = 100 Canadian dollars to each schools. 3.73 is almost 3.75 CGPA so he could try out some schools but my bro e too hard walahi. I'm just been very sincere with u
Bro I have been following this debate but refused to comment because of some individuals who released polemical statement on anyone who try to advice right.
A colleague of mine who works as a lecturer in a renowned University in Nigeria, with over 5 years teaching experience was denied admission by the University of Alberta to study M.A due to low undergraduate grade. This guy have a CPA of 3.70 and that is 2:1 I guess. Thou some dudes may say UofA is very competitive, yes you are right, likewise every other Universities in Canada in terms of graduate admission.
The chance of getting admission with 2:2 grade is 1 out of 100%. Bro you can apply for a PGD programme as a foundation. I believe your dream is still in tact.
Best of luck

Thanks boss for your timely response. I'm actually applying for a PRV. So I don't know if they would accept it as a POF since I can't have access to it until retirement or so.
Bro don't overwork yourself on this issue to avoid unnecessary tension. Your RSA account according to CIC is part of ur POF if you have one. If you are a member of any registered Coperative society, you can get a statement from them and it form part of your POF. I can't mislead you in this regard, but the onus of accepting or rejecting this piece of information lies within you.
Best of luck

Hello Forumites,

Please, is it possible to secure a PhD (Engineering) admission in Canada with a M.Eng Average score of 57.3% (GPA 3.9)?
As a faculty member, that grade cannot even give you an admission into a PhD programme in Nigeria. PhD grade is from 60% upward. But bro all hope is not lost. Most Canadian University place emphasis more on undergraduate degree. If you have a strong undergraduate result, you can apply for M.Eng/PhD programme.
Or better still you can do a postgraduate diploma.
This is my view, others may have superior advice than this. Best of luck

@Gatuso,

Thanks for the response. Please what document did you submit for your Pension Fund? Are you processing PRV? If yes, how can one realise one's pension fund when moving to Canny? Please you can reply me on tundechange20@gmail.com if you can post the answers here.

Thanks boss!
Guy go to your PFA and tell them to print for you, your Pension statement of account from inception. You can get it free of charge. This statement is not always stamped and you don't need to notarised it. If you notarised it, it becomes invalid. I applied for TRV to study PhD in Music at the University of Alberta and it was approved on June 22nd, 2016.
You can't use your Pension fund to cater for your studies. Your Pension account is a financial security that generates income on quarterly basis and can only be accessed upon retirement or when one clock 50 or thereabout. So, including it in your application only connotes, if am not mistaking here, a tie to your homeland.

Hi People,

Please I will like to confirm if CIC uses the official exchange rate to determine the sufficiency of Proof of Fund or they use parralel (black) market?

Also, is Pension Fund (RSA) acceptable as a Proof of Fund?

Thanks!
Yes I used my Pension account in addition to my bank statement. My Pension account reflects my contribution since inception.

I will be applying for study permit in july. I got study leave letter and introduction letter from the company I am presently working with. I got a juicy job from another company and I will be resigning from my present company soon. I'm a bit disturb now based on what gastuso said that the VO mail his company to confirm his staff Identity. I just hope it will not harm my visa application because leaving the company in july is 100% sure kiss

Cc: gastuso
Why should you leave a company that is given u a letter of introduction and leave to the Embassy. You may be lucky, they may not write to confirm from your employer, but most times we need to play safe. You can't use your new employer bc CIC insist you must be with the company if am not mistaking for at least four months or thereabouts. Not too sure about the number of months anymore. Please when is your academic start date?

Good day good people, the best shall come our way surely.

Please is it true that if you are working in a company that doesn't belong to the government, I mean private company and the boss gives you all the documents proving it such as employment verification, recommendation letter, payslip etc, is it true that you must have the company Statement of account though the company is not sponsoring you?

Someone said it here and I want clarity on this.
If your company is not sponsoring you, then u don't need their SOA. All you need from them is payslips, letter of introduction, etc. Statement of account is only needed if your company is the sole or co-sponsor of your studies.

you guys are complicating things. One can be working and also have different businesses he does which brings other income into his bank account. During visa application,we present a RELIABLE source of income documents which is our employment documents and account statement/salary account. So one shouldnt tell me that what i earn monthly should correlate what comes into my account. Let not visa process make us not to reason realistically and just only thinking what the VO would ever never think. Atimes some people i know who are in canada now didn't even present payslips during their but im nt saying you should omit it oooo
Bro, it seems u don't get me. What you are saying is different from the suggestion provided by me. We make comments and suggestions that is truly our own opinion. I am an employee in a govt establishment. I do other jobs that brings in cash on daily or weekly basis. But the extra jobs I do to generate cash, is not a strong ties to homeland. If one works, they should be a payslip. I submitted my payslips and it save my employer, sponsoring me for the programme to issue their bank statement.

I do understand my bro, but here is the case I am not paid in account but paid in cash I mean money inside envelope, though from the job verification documents my boss specified that I am paid in cash. Money in hand and to add confirmation to this, the document is been notarized at the Law court, is this sufficient at all or what more can I add again?
You don't need it then.

Good day, good people, hope we are enjoying the weekend.

My payslip shows some deductions on my salary such as insurance, income tax, pension etc, these are dedicated from my monthly salary and I receive the balance, do I have to prove this with document? Because I wasn't given any document on this at work place, or isn't it like that for everybody and do you submit any document to prove this?
This is normal deduction that must appear on your pay. No need for explanation. Your pay slips explains it a lot
What the VO want to see, if what is on your payslips tally's with what comes into your account on Monthly basis.

How to avoid tension of your Trv for study permit
Anxiety is a silent killer that is common with most visa applicants across the comity of nations. But the few time I spent reading through this thread, I see people's anxiousness to know why they are not called for medical or why their TRV is yet to be approved, after those who submitted after them have gotten theirs.
To be honest with you, I felt same. Each moment, I kept on thinking about my dream of going to Canada for graduate studies and what will happened to me if my dream is aborted along the line by a VO. Here are some tips that can keep us on track while our application are been assessed:
1. You are different: many a time we wish to get our medical call or approval mails on time. But to be honest and based on my experience, the VO have the final say. I strongly believe in the supernatural intervening in case, but many a time, we judge ourselves bc of other people's experiences. Medical call can be issued sparingly by a VO without thoroughly examining one file. For paper route, they send medical call before examining the applicants file. Paper route medical call is faster than online. But note, this do not represent approval of their TRV, but it's a step towards their TRV approval if no issues are discovered by the VO. Here comes our anxiety, I applied before Mr B and Mr B have been called for medical, what is wrong with me? Hope the devil is not at work here? Have I done anything wrong here?
Please you have done nothing wrong with your application process, what I think is this, the VO is carefully examining your file before making a decision. For instance, before I was called for medical, they wrote to my employer to find out if am a bonafide staff of the establishment I claimed to be working with. My employer responded, I guess within 24 hours. After all their findings, they ask me to go for medical. So, if you are not called for it, don't be worried, because you may end up giving yourself high blood pressure, like I almost did to myself when I went for medical examination. First test reads 166, while the second done by the doctor herself reads 128. So anxiety can ruine our medical history. For online applicants, once you are called for medical, after months of waiting and you passed it, your TRV approval is 100%
Note: Am not a VO but also an applicant who now have his TRV approved.
Watch out for point 2

TRV Visual approval to Study PhD programme at the University of Alberta
Online Application submitted - 13 April 2016
Biometric - 15th April 2016
Note: I submitted my application without my police certificate, all academic degrees and transcripts, etc., Bc there is no column to upload them into. I took them to vfs and they were rejected. The lady me told me ignorance is not an excuse and your application stands to be rejected on the ground of incomplete documents.
Thus I immediately use the CIC case inquiry form to appeal for the inclusion of all my supporting documents not uploaded to be part of my application and also to Canadian Embassy in Accra. My appeal was approved by CIC within an interval of four days and my documents were all uploaded to my application.
I also made a serious blunder to apply for work permit and thus filled the column of work as part of my Study attaching my scholarship letter. On the 26th of May, I saw on CIC website that scholarship is not part of work. I immediately wrote to my department and graduate school of the University of Alberta. They responded immediately by notifying me that work is not part of my Study and scholarship awards given to graduate students does not amount to it.
I immediately wrote to CIC for the second time appealing for the exclusion of work permit in my application. A week later, I received a message from CIC stating "We need your Medical"
Medical Call - June 2nd
Medical done - June 6th
Medical Passed - June 10th
Passport Request - June 13th
Passport Submitted - June 14th
Application Approved - June 21
Application closed - June 22
Passport ready for collection mail - June 22
Passport collected - Just collected now, June 23.
Documents Submitted
SOA - Closing balance of 56k
Letter of Introduction and Sponsorship from my employer without bank statement
Admission & scholarship letter
My Pension account statement
Employment letter
My Staff identity card
My CV
Statement of Intent
Personal achievement in my career
Police report
All family members birth certificates
My academic certificates and transcripts, etc.
House members, I give God the glory for making my dream of studying in Canada come through. I also thank you all for your prayers, love and care. You are more than a family to me.
Hope to hear your good news too.
I have been a silent follower of this thread.

Unfortunately, you're not allowed to submit additional documents after your application is filed. Its doubtful they will review any additional documents you submit through case inquiry.
Your view is not totally correct, I submitted additional documents to my application after two weeks of online submission and it was accepted by CIC. They even uploaded it to my application themselves

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the engaging forum!!

I've been offered admission to Waterloo for a PhD with guaranteed 4yrs funding (34k CAD per year). I am currently an academic staff with a uni in South Africa (where I obtained my masters degree in 2011). I applied for my study visa online and uploaded my admission letter, upfront medicals, police clearance, funding letter, my 6 month bank statement, and bank statements from my parents in naija. In my LOE, I indicated that the account statements from my parents was to indicate that they are willing and able to support me if the need arises ( my account statement and funding letter is sufficient IMO; my account balance is approx. 12k CAD).

I have been following the conversations on the forum and notice that people also submit their English proficiency test scores, masters certificate, pay slips, education evaluations (WES), etc. Should I send a case inquiry and submit these documents? I am already worried that the processing time in SA is ludicrous and wouldn't want my application to be unduly delayed.

I applied on the 11th of May, did my biometrics on the 6th of June. Biometrics status changed to "not needed at this time" but no other update as yet.

Pls what do you advice? Am I missing any crucial document?........when it comes to ties at home, it even gets more worrisome. My parents are in Nigeria, I have a permanent residency status in South Africa and also have a sister living here in SA with her family. I have two brothers in the US and another sister in Lagos. Will this prove to be a problem regarding my "ties to home country"?
As a PhD applicants, your chances of approval is 90%. My brother, you are good as getting the TRV. Most times, ties to one's homeland goes beyond parents and family affiliation. Your job is a strong tie to your homeland if you are still single. First and foremost, you are a faculty member and i guess you are tenured by now. So you don't have issues with tie to homeland.
I once have a similar problem like you. I did not attached my all educational degree and transcripts, police clearance, my birth and family members certificate, etc. I wrote to VAC Lagos, but was referred to write to VAC in Accra and also wrote to CIC using case specific form to explain the reason for not submitting all documents and also attached the unsubmitted documents to my letter. Within, two days was told they have received and attached same to my application. So you too can write to the VAC office through email. They will respond to you. Also use CIC case specific form to appeal and attach all documents.
Note: Not all University in Canada demands for English proficiency test for international students. For me, for instance, University of Alberta exclude Nigerians, Ghanaians, South Africans, etc., applicants with 2:1 are exempted from English proficiency exam.
