Hi guys,
My 2001 toyota camry. Auto, 2.2cc 4 cylinder. Displayed this code on scanning. I noticed that the engine when idling was rougher than normal especially when the gears were engaged.

The codes were P0402 and P0401.
Excessive exhaust gas recirculation and insufficient exhaust gas recirculation.

- EGR volume control valve stuck open
- Faulty EGR volume control valve
- EGR solenoid valve harness is open or shorted
- EGR solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty EGR temperature sensor and circuit

EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It is part of the vehicle emmissions system, and is used to reduce combustion temperature and pressure to control Oxides of Nitrogen. There are generally three parts to the EGR system: the EGR valve, an actuator solenoid, and a differential pressure sensor EGR (DPFE). These things work together to deliver the correct amount of recirculation based on engine temperature, load, etc. The P0401 code means that OBD detected an insufficient amount of EGR.

Hello gurus in the house
my 03 Accord has got a myriad of issues:
1. the car gives a high-pitched sharp noise in d engine on start -up, but does not if I start it later in the day
2. my engine vibrates on turning on the a.c. If I use the AC or drive for long periods, the gear doesn't engage in time and when it eventually does, it does with a forward' jerk'.
3. ThE AC is hardly chilling.

I have this same issue with my Honda civic 2008. Once I turn on my A.C especially when I traffic, the engine vibrates causing the car to jerk when moving slowly...

Clean your IACV l"idle air control valve" located on throttle body.

More research for the codes.

Acura had problems with the gear lever, it was stuck in drive and neutral, D4 light was blinking and car started off from 4th gear.

After that a scan was done and it revealed errors from transmission

P0753 faulty transmission solenoid A
P0758 faulty. Transmission solenoid B

Armed with these codes I set out on a search for possible solutions to the problem.

First thin is to Run vehicle Vin, vehicle is a Floded car.

Next is to test solenoids A and B, via diagnostic equipment to see if the tic when instructed to " actuation test", unfortunately it failed the test, only the lockup solenoid passed.

Next is the run the harness from solenoid A and B up till TCU "transmission control unit".
Harness is fine and there is no open circuit.

With the battery positive side out and with a long wire from the positive terminal, I tested the solenoids from the harness pinout at TCU
And guess what? They ticked!!

Checked power supply to TCU while engine running and it was OK.

Monday morning I will test vehicle with another TCU because for now it's my primary suspect.


P.S ECM and TCM for this car are 1 unit.

All owned by 3 different nairalanders

The cylinder assembly has been ordered by the client and it will be delivered on mon morning, so work will freeze on the rear wheels till the part shows up.

In the mean time the hub is cleaned on mud and new brake shoes are replaced.

Stiff piston in right rear cylinder assembly

I have a carena E auto. The story of my engine is long but advice is needed on how to get a reliable tokunbo engine this time. I have bought twice and there are issues each time.
I am in Kogi and there is only one dealer whose stock was only three as at the time I got there. I have no confidence in any of the three especially that I have bitter experience in the first two I bought.
A friend suggested looking for engine from accidented cars but how and where? I don't mind travelling to lagos but I need clear advice on where to get reliable engine and at what likely price.

Any idea shared with me will be highly appreciated.

Nissan xterra update.

Brake disk resurfaced, upper right arm replaced, front swaybar bushings replaced, every thing resembled in reverse order.

Front suspension work complete, of to rear suspension, then engine then a.c then car stereo.

Hello house ... I have two problems with my honda accord 2006

1) the ac compressor and condenser were changed but after a while colder air started
Coming out of the passenger side, the driver's side feels warmer and takes a while to pick up.
2) I recently noticed my power steering oil leaked while driving I toped the oil and got the leaking pipe patched but right now the steering feels stiffer than before I got the leak patch.

Pls what might be wrong

Replace the entire powersteering pipe.

You have a leak in your a.c system and soon both sides will be blowing hot air
fix the leak.

Front suspension problems

Front rotors "brake disks"
Upper arm bushings and joint.
Right side tie rod end.
Sway bar bushings
That's all.

All other parts are still intact and will go for a very long time (a year or more)

A lot of new parts will be kept in the store

Quick oil change and engine wash for my first lagos customer

But the engine dirty well well o!

Front bearing is fine and just needs some adjustment.

Wheel is now firm.

Front upper arm bushings on the right are bad and have a lot of clearance.

Brake rotors "barke disks" are wrapped "rough and uneven"

Wheel up and car in drive, looking for wobbling tyres.

front right wheel failed test, checked and found wheel bearing is bad, checked the left too and it also has a little clearance.

So front wheel hubs will be changed as a complete unit.

Also checked the rear and found that when the vehicle brakes were pressed there's a rogue wheel on the rear left I'm sure the pipes been blocked for some reason

Hyundai tucson washed and good to go.

An uncle of mine stopped at Ajaokuta area to fill up his 2005 toyota camry tank (the car was bought toks 2 weeks ago and its a clean titled well maintained 1 owner used car) and also bought a device called 'fuel shark' which plugs into the cigarette lighter to improve his MPG, he got to Uyo with the fuel slightly below the top quarter. Today, he started informing me about the wonders of the device... I told him a cigarette lighter isnt connected to any MPG altering parameter of any car hence, the device is a hoax, but i had to soft pedal because i dont wanna drag with him...
Now fellow NLers, do you share such belief with him or you dont? Pls give proofs if any.
