TCD: thanks. Pls how much does the timing chain cost for the engine I mentioned above. Any ideas? No idea. Try toyota outlets if you are in lagos. |
There's nothing wrong with ur car. |
TCD: . Thanks for this. Pls how often is one to change engine oil, power steering fluid , ATF and the timing chain?Engine oil. Between 3000 and 5000 miles That's 5100km or 8500km better safe than sorry. ATF 30,000miles 50,000km Power steering: have no idea but just change it when ur doing atf. Timing chain: 100,000miles 170,000km Most people do over 200,000miles b4 changing but as I said better safe......... |
It might just be a crappy 2012 with numerous problems. Only the greedy and desperate get scamed. |
Mueeze: Hi guys, please help a brother out. I drive a Toyota Corolla 2000 model. The problem is that the car stalls and shuts off in traffic when the engine is considerably hot. The check engine light is off. If I try to start it immediately, it doesn't come up until I allow it to cool down for about 10 to 15 minutes. It behaves like a car overheating, but I have coolant in it, not water. Please what could be the cause. I asked a mechanic, and he said it's a sensor. Asking him what sensor and where it is, no reasonable answer.Check light off? If yout sure your check light is not tampered with, have your mechaninc check 1. Idle speed control valve. It might need servicing. 2. Fuel pump presure. 3. Hope your temp does not go above half mark? These topics have been treated here : https://www.nairaland.com/1788778/maintenance-tips-cars-quick-response#24358753 |
aeu1: Thanks sir, I will check. Pls what could be responsible for clicking sounding like a bunch of key by the front right suspension although a mechanic earlier told me that shock absorber is weak, but I did a paint work on that front right fender of the car before this sound comes on whenever the tire rolls on uneven road surface.Dissasemble your front suspension and check for problems. Check ball joint assemblies, shock eye bushings, sway bar brackets, and strut bearings. Also check that you have the correct oem length and diameter of sway bar link (tabilizerlinkage) probably why they are getting broken. P.S before you do all these check the clips on your brake pads, most times when changing brake pads mechanics fail to return them. This could cause the rattling sound. To test place "left foot" sightly on brake when driving over rough surface if noise is not there then that's your culprit.

TCD: Hi. Pls what's the manufacturer recommended Engine oil for 2002 Toyota Solara with 2AZ-FE engine and transmission fluid for the same car. Also does this car use timing belt or timing chain? Thank youEngine oil: SAE 5W-30 or I prefer fully synthethic oils. Engine oil capacity: 3.8liter with oil filter replaced 3.6liters without replacing oil filter. Automatic transmission fluid: use toyota genuine ATF WS Fluid capacity 7.8 liters Uses a timing chain. |
aeu1: U always discover some volume of water after it rains inside my 99 Corolla boot at the left flank bottom. I am surprised how water can be getting in there, pls what could be the causeI have 3 solutions for u. 1. Check all boot seals (rubber that runs round) ensure its fittet well along the frame. 2.Get in the boot with a flash light and have some one hose the car down with water with ur flash light look for leaks 3.Check taillight seals or the trunk weatherstrip. Water might be flowing down the sheet metal. Also check the seal on your antenna The water doesn't have to drip into the boot and soak through. It can often run along the metal and run underneath the soundproofing and the carpet Best of luck. |
Also avoid buying petrol after heavy rains, iv seen countless number of clients with water in their tanks after buying contaminated petrol caused by leaking underground tanks from the fuel stations. Their complaints alwas stem from buying petrol during or after rainfal. |
area scatter: HA HA HA HA hA ha ha ha haHe gets it. inze: Best response so far. |
Yomieluv: Indeed,no matter the situation,no hope is totally lost...even some able bodied men can't achieve that... technophile: Not fair he is human being too and has the right to drive!!If any of you can volunteer to be his passengers on a trip from lagos to benin then no hope is lost. The man is a road hazard and a disaster waiting to happen steering wheels were not designed to be steered with feet his response and reflexes would not be as quick and adequate to sudden change in road traffic conditions. He requires a specialised vehicle that steers with feet and he needs to pass a "driving test" thank God china is not nigeria. |

i guess you should scan car first. for more benz tips https://www.nairaland.com/520025/mercedes-benz-thread |
Engine cylinder deactivation Honda's Variable Cylinder Management Starting with the 2005 Odyssey, Honda applied cylinder-deactivation-dubbed Variable Cylinder Management-technology to its 3.5-liter i-VTEC ("i" for "intelligent") V-6 engine. When high output was needed, the engine ran on all 6 cylinders. While cruising and under light load, one bank of 3 cylinders was idled. The unwanted cylinders were sealed shut for the duration, minimizing internal pumping losses. As soon as full power was demanded, the additional valves went into action and their cylinders began to receive fuel. In Honda's VCM V-6, the hydraulic circuit consists of two systems, each capable of providing the pressure needed to actuate the synchronizing piston that disables the unneeded valves. This is accomplished by separating the two tandem rocker arms that work with each valve, causing it to remain shut. Honda's control system monitors throttle position, vehicle and engine speed, and automatic-transmission gear selection, to determine if the vehicle is cruising or decelerating. When idling those 3 cylinders, the system also alters ignition timing and turns the transmission's torque converter lock-up on and off, to suppress jolting during the transition between 6- and 3-cylinder operation. Later, Accord and Pilot models could also get VCM. Honda claimed "a smooth, seamless switch between 3- and 6-cylinder modes that is nearly unnoticeable to the driver." Except for Honda's V-6 engine, most cylinder deactivation is applied to domestically-built truck V-8 engines, though various GM V-6 engines also are benefitting from the technology. Still, the systems don't get nearly as much attention as some other methods of boosting fuel economy. |
Siena: Palm oil works better.Lol |
Already updated. Its located at back of engine near fire wall, yes faulty knock sensor can cause poor gas mileage, but not seriously.
|
Depends on what is wrong with it. |
billtommy: Good afternoon sir, I took my camry 99 for a scan today, its fuel efficiency has been bad lately, the two error codes that popped out are.P0505 idle control system malfunction. With this error ild expect your car to rough idle and probably stall with the ac turned on Ild suggest you have the IAC valve brought out and cleaned with a carburettor cleaner (pics of the iac attached) If problem still persists replace it. A tokumbor one would cost about 1k. P0325 refers to knock sensor fault or failure How a knock sensor works: It detects the slightest noise in the engine and picks up on the "knock" of pre-ignition and sends the information to the ECM (Electronic Control Module). This 'ping' or 'knock' is caused when the mixture of air and gas does not burn smoothly or when it burns too soon. When the timing is off, this can also cause the knocking of the engine. The knock sensor is put in place to regulate these issues. This sensor is usually mounted on the block by a threaded edge that is screwed directly into the block of the engine and is connected to the ECM by wires. When the knocking or pinging is detected, the sensor sends a signal to the ECM, and this in turn retards the engine spark timing at two degree intervals until it has corrected the issue. The sensor's microphone is so sensitive it picks up the knocking when the human ear cannot detect it. It will hear the slightest ping even when the engine is at its top speed First check if the harness is in order (wiring) If all is in order replace the knock sensor. A tokumbor knock sensor will cause about 1k How I test knock sensors for toyota I un screw the knock sensor attach get a multi meter set it to a/c voltage (20) connect 1 end to the body of the sensor (ground) and the other end to the only pin in the socket then tap the base of the knock sensor continuously if its working well I get over 1v if its faulty its less. (This method has always worked for me) ill attach pictures of the location of the knock sensor and location. *note in toyota highlanders if there is knock sensor failure it causes the transmission to get stuck in 3rd gear. Air filter brand new filter costs 2k. Let's know how it goes.

blakbarbie: Mr Gazzuz..it was boldly written in the header as 1.650 from day 1..as well as in the 1st paragraph of the ad...next time ask for clarification if you are confused and did you re read your original post? I could barely understand you..do me a favor, take your own advice...You want to see a screen grab? Take my peace offer. |
Cityng any app for blackberry? |
Correction. Last night you displayed 6cylinder engine at 3million. That's what prompeted my comment. This engine "is" a 4cyliner hybrid In future read thru b4 posting Peace. |
blakbarbie: Fuel -PetrolSame format you used on the camry hybrid. |
This car in the picture is "not" highbrid engine pics are not same with what is displayed. |
mayor2013: Who never can tell not only do you need your original documents to proof to vehicle law enforcements that you have them but you also need them in other areas. Can't start saying all that hear. Its a document you know. Is it possible to misplace your cerficate of occupancy for your house and say not to worry you have photcopiesYou have a point. But for me When I buy a car I photocopy and keep the originals in one place, and photocopies in the car I don't set my eyes on the orignals until it is time to sell the car. |
Reminds me of when obasanjo told the british police man arrest former gov of bayelsa shouting on the phone (hold him o! Hold him o o o ) |
What do you need them for? Unless you intend selling the car. The only document that is original is certificate of ownership and licence plate receipt, the rest are renewable once they expire. No one will ask you for the originals unless you intend selling the car. |
dinyelutochukwu: GAZZUZZ: Thanx once more for the good job you are doing.Mileage of the car? I'm sorry I forgot to tell you to start the car "without" the serpentine belt that way you are sure the noise is from the area we suspect. Start car and listen if noise is still there. Avoid throwing parts at a problem. Feel free to call me when ur with ur mechanic. |
chiebube: Gazzuzz, for how long did you drive after then? I am just curious. U have some good experience oh!9th mile to jos. 600km in a toyota corrola 2004 (bank type) 2nz-fe engine. |
y tell the world? |
Nice thread following>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> |
Easy method Buy a full tank Reset oddmeter to 0.0 Drive a 100km Fill up your tank again. How many litres did you buy. Standard for you car should be 13/14km to a litre highway driving 9/10km to a litre city driving. So if after driving 100km it takes 10liters to fill up ur ok. 15 and above ur tank is either leaking or car is burning more fuel than usual. I must add your driving pattern and traffic also play a very big part in determining fuel consumption. |
