I once heard a sermon titled "the lie that saves" it might come in handy here. |
U didn't state the miles you can get per gallon of petrol within city and highway driving. |
The EMPS module is it powered by regular 12-14volts dc? |
bashexyz: Error CodesIv seen ur codes, u still did not tell us what make of honda or the engine type. One of your oxygen sensors is bad S1 (sensor 1) but u didn't indicate what bank incomplete code. This will contribute to your high fuel consumption. The other codes are transmission related. Where are you located? |
Siena: I am considering junking the stock steering box in my 2003 MK5 Single Cabin 4x4, in favour of a steering rack.Wow! I need to see this. Weldone siena |
bashexyz: First my mechanic removed my thermostat. All the mechanics i go to. To fix it keep saying its not needed and i dont want to force them to fix it, so they dont damage something in the process. Am yet to see a mechanic who will agree to the use of a thermostat.*This issue of thermostat is overflogged on cartalk, if you want to read more go here.https://www.nairaland.com/1788778/maintenance-tips-cars-quick-response#24358753 *what kind of throttle body does your car use? (Motorised or cable)Seems your idle speed control is faulty. * engine coolant sensor is either not attached or faulty *O2 sensor: your error code is not specific can't comment on that. *air fuel ratio check mass airflow meter. * running your fans direct will cause over cooling short term high fuel consumption, long term sludge/engine damage. I suggest you set your car back to its factory state fans and thermostat. |
IjogzK: I am also having a Vibration issue. The stuff began after my AC was fixed. The AC dude removed the Radiator gasket, AC gasket. Washed the 2 and change the Dryer for the AC. Ever since then when ever I am driving.. If I slow down or try to turn the car vibrates or sometyms trips off while vibrating.Take it from the begining again. Pls describe your vehicle in detail. Repair history and the kind of throttle body. |
Siena: I have no idea, why people would take their cars to the wrong people, to work on. And throw money at problems without prior research. Thanks for clarifying, I looked at the pic again and saw where the throttle cable should be attached, I remember seeing same format on a vw jetta, cable opens the butterfly and the tps signals determine the rpm. |
We all know where this will lead let me take a front seat. |
Yours is a different model from the one I'm used to. From the pictures yours is a mororised throttle body. What did you actually service inside? |
Siena: Some pictures. I would say they're all self explanatory. I never realised how small the truck is without the bed!Looks like a wet chiken lol,ur doing a great job. Following................. |
KiksAsso: If it's the Chevrolet Optra made in South Korea and sold in Nigeria by a division of CFAO Motors, then I will tell you that the probability that you will have to replace the ECM in order to resolve this issue is 0.99.0.99 is not up to 1 percent so op is safe. Op first manually return the butterfly valve to its original settings, un screw it till it only rest lightly on the screw, most mechanics try to adjust the idle from the butterfly only to end up getting an erratic engine, your idle speed control valve "pictures attached" is very easy to service and also very easy to destroy I'm guessing by now its bad since its passed through so many hands, its servicing procedure is same as most peugeot vehicles especially the 406, lucky for you it shares same part with most opel brands and you can get it for less than 5k. There are also manual tests that can be carried out to rule out ecm damage, but I doubt you will have to go that far. Also check for vacuum leaks along intake, and try and fix up your cam shaft sensor issue, probably didn't fix the socket properly, or ur timing marks don't match up. I hope its the right idle valve I posted? Best of luck.

TCD: Hi. Pls my brake pedal feels soft not as hard and springy as usual. One mech says I should replace the master cylinder, another says to replace brake pads and calipers. I'm not really cut ready for trial and error mechanics. Although the break pads are truly worn when I checked, but will worn out breaks and calipers cause a soft break pedal?Worn out brake pads Should not cause your pedal to feel soft, if you have a leak and air has been introduced to your hydraulic system yes it could feel soft, also if your brake fluid dropped so low as to allow air into the system, yes it could feel soft and finally if your brake master cylinder is faulty it could also feel soft. Have your system bleed to release air pockets inside your brake lines, if its still soft replace brake master.

![]() NewIdeas: Thanks guys,i have really learned alot from you all.nice day ![]() See OP don take off ![]() |
Let me spread my mat here, this will be interesting. |
kenmaro: I have done that already and all cylinders are ok.Do a compression test on all cylinders, check timing marks. |
Wow..... |
This is autos section. |
Good idea. |
Op pay up quick. |
iykbethany: My gearbox was ruined by my relative and I have learnt the hard way.Hard luck man I don't envy you at all last time I tried to buy that gear box in lagos the seller gave 2 conditions b4 selling with a guarantee. 1. I must buy transmission oil provided by him.( It was very good oil) 2.His technician will install gearbox (very ridiculous fee considering I could do the job my self.) I ended up buying it from an accidented car in the north. Cost of the entire car was almost at par with the price of the gear, was a good deal. Have you tried siena? He's in the u.k |
Seems you have not heard of ALMAJIRI google it for more info. Fend for them selves from as young as 3-4years of age. |
Thanks cityng for reminding me I edited it a split second b4 you quoted me. |
Check the fuse marked DRL (day time running lights) check the relays for the lights might be stuck closed. |
1mz-fe engine. What's the repair history on your car? As you crank your engine, tiny amounts of fuel is sprayed from the injector into the combustion chamber so combustion can occur, the amount of fuel is very little cause its in spray form not enough to even wet your spark plugs. For you to be able to detect trace amounts in your engine oil means one or more of your injectors is stuck open when cranking, this will cause your engine to freeze while trying to crank until you unscreew one or more of the spark plugs on the affected cylinder(s) to relive it of the excessive fuel. This problem can be caused by a defective ecm(brainbox) Don't try forcing the car to start once it freezes or risk damaging your engine. |
Looks too cheap for 100k considering how clean they look but for anything mechanical you have to inspect. Meanwhile imagine this, riding on 3rd mainland bridge and you have any of the following *flat tyre *mechanical failure What would u do? Bikes are for leisure make sure u have a good car b4 buying a bike..... |
Most hondas up to 2001 had that lock issue. |
lomomike: Tramigo T23Correct man! |
GAZZUZZ: With the scan codes you have provided a very good transmission specialist would promptly fix you gearbox,You might not need a transmission specialist since the switch is located outside the gear box, but somtimes experience with certain faults makes work easier, so if you know one it might not be a bad idea. |
The part number is 28600-P6H-003 you can contact luvinghubby: https://www.nairaland.com/996664/maintenance-tips-honda-cars/ he is a honda spare part dealer in lagos, the part is located top of engine under water hose on the transmission.

With the scan codes you have provided a very good transmission specialist would promptly fix you gearbox, Replacing the clutch pressure switch and throttle position sensor will solve your transmission faults. The trottle position sensor is on the the throttle body. I will post pics of the pressure switch later. |
@Cmgo I see you are in good hands, just to add a little to what every one has said, I'm guessing your problem started out as a check light on your instrument panel, which you ignored cause there were no signs or strange noises from the engine to suggest a problem, gradually it deteriorated to where it is now, there's a reason cars are fitted with the "check light" it is a malfunction indicator, meaning every something is wrong with the car, not necessarily the engine but could range from suspension, to transmission to internal body electrical instruments. When we say go for a scan when your vehicle illuminates any of the warning signals: abs,airbags,check,vsc.........etc its just to help you ensure your vehicle does develop further problems. That said I will add a little to what 9icetoo said, there's a filter close to the ocv "pictures attached" when the filter gets clogged or blocked it starves the ocv of oil which could result in the excessive wear that lead to the leak you are experiencing, you also mentioned you mechanic said your oil pump needs replacement, ild advice you check your oil pressure light when the engine is hot and idling, if it flickers or stays on when the engine is running then oil pump might be bad, and in that scenario it will need to be replaced but in the absence of the oil pressure light on or flickering when engine is running don't touch the oil pump. Focus on changing the camshafts and try and get a guarantee from the seller. When you are done with all the repairs have the car scanned copy the codes down, have them cleared and re scan the car after using for about 50-100km. Best of luck.
