ebner70: Have changed shocks and stabilizers of the 2 front legs of my camry, still hearing toomuch noise whenever Ȋ̝̊̅ hit a gallop, how do Ȋ̝̊̅ go abt this, wld like to work with someone in owerri, although wld go any length to stop ds once and for allIt would be difficult to help you online on your suspension issues, we might just end up suggesting you throw more parts at your problem,if you have ruled out the front struts and stabiliser links, then it would be best to check * brake pad clips or holders * front sway bar bushings * front lower control arm left and right * ball joints both sides Also look outside the box problem could also be coming from within the engine bay have your vehicle checked for loose or unscrewed parts near the engine mounts and exhaust area. I'm attaching pictures of the stared parts. Best of luck. P.s don't forget I did not say replace just have them looked at to be sure the parts mentioned are ok or present. TCD: thanks. What does SN above mean please, synthetic? The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has established a numerical code system for grading motor oils according to their viscosity characteristics. SAE viscosity gradings include the following, from low to high viscosity: 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50 or 60. The numbers 0, 5, 10, 15 and 25 are suffixed with the letter W, designating they are "winter" (not "weight" or cold-start viscosity, at lower temperature. The number 20 comes with or without a W, depending on whether it is being used to denote a cold or hot viscosity grade. The document SAE J300 defines the viscometrics related to these grades.Kinematic viscosity is graded by measuring the time it takes for a standard amount of oil to flow through a standard orifice, at standard temperatures. The longer it takes, the higher the viscosity and thus higher SAE code. The SAE has a separate viscosity rating system for gear, axle, and manual transmission oils, SAE J306, which should not be confused with engine oil viscosity. The higher numbers of a gear oil (e.g., 75W-140) do not mean that it has higher viscosity than an engine oil. Single-grade A single-grade engine oil, as defined by SAE J300, cannot use a polymeric Viscosity Index Improver (also referred to as Viscosity Modifier) additive. SAE J300 has established eleven viscosity grades, of which six are considered Winter-grades and given a W designation. The 11 viscosity grades are 0W, 5W, 10W, 15W, 20W, 25W, 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60. These numbers are often referred to as the "weight" of a motor oil, and single-grade motor oils are often called "straight-weight" oils. For single winter grade oils, the dynamic viscosity is measured at different cold temperatures, specified in J300 depending on the viscosity grade, in units of mPa·s, or the equivalent older non-SI units, centipoise (abbreviated cP), using two different test methods. They are the Cold Cranking Simulator (ASTMD5293) and the Mini-Rotary Viscometer (ASTM D4684). Based on the coldest temperature the oil passes at, that oil is graded as SAE viscosity grade 0W, 5W, 10W, 15W, 20W, or 25W. The lower the viscosity grade, the lower the temperature the oil can pass. For example, if an oil passes at the specifications for 10W and 5W, but fails for 0W, then that oil must be labeled as an SAE 5W. That oil cannot be labeled as either 0W or 10W. For single non-winter grade oils, the kinematic viscosity is measured at a temperature of 100 °C (212 °F) in units of mm2/s (millimeter squared per second) or the equivalent older non-SI units, centistokes (abbreviated cSt). Based on the range of viscosity the oil falls in at that temperature, the oil is graded as SAE viscosity grade 20, 30, 40, 50, or 60. In addition, for SAE grades 20, 30, and 1000, a minimum viscosity measured at 150 °C (302 °F) and at a high-shear rate is also required. The higher the viscosity, the higher the SAE viscosity grade is. Multi-grade The temperature range the oil is exposed to in most vehicles can be wide, ranging from cold temperatures in the winter before the vehicle is started up, to hot operating temperatures when the vehicle is fully warmed up in hot summer weather. A specific oil will have high viscosity when cold and a lower viscosity at the engine's operating temperature. The difference in viscosities for most single-grade oil is too large between the extremes of temperature. To bring the difference in viscosities closer together, special polymer additives called viscosity index improvers, or VIIs are added to the oil. These additives are used to make the oil a multi-grade motor oil, though it is possible to have a multi-grade oil without the use of VIIs. The idea is to cause the multi-grade oil to have the viscosity of the base grade when cold and the viscosity of the second grade when hot. This enables one type of oil to be used all year. In fact, when multi-grades were initially developed, they were frequently described as all-season oil. The viscosity of a multi-grade oil still varies logarithmically with temperature, but the slope representing the change is lessened. This slope representing the change with temperature depends on the nature and amount of the additives to the base oil. The SAE designation for multi-grade oils includes two viscosity grades; for example, 10W-30 designates a common multi-grade oil. The first number '10W' is the viscosity of the oil at cold temperature and the second number is the viscosity at 100 °C. The two numbers used are individually defined by SAE J300 for single-grade oils. Therefore, an oil labeled as 10W-30 must pass the SAE J300 viscosity grade requirement for both 10W and 30, and all limitations placed on the viscosity grades (for example, a 10W-30 oil must fail the J300 requirements at 5W). Also, if an oil does not contain any VIIs, and can pass as a multi-grade, that oil can be labelled with either of the two SAE viscosity grades. For example, a very simple multi-grade oil that can be easily made with modern base oils without any VII is a 20W-20. This oil can be labeled as 20W-20, 20W, or 20. Note, if any VIIs are used however, then that oil cannot be labeled as a single grade. Breakdown of VIIs under shear is a concern in motorcycle applications, where the transmission may share lubricating oil with the motor. For this reason, synthetic oil or motorcycle-specific oil is sometimes recommended.[9][10] The necessity of higher-priced motorcycle-specific oil has also been challenged by at least one consumer organization.[11 http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_oil

spiderone: Hello, Pls i drive a 98 Camry. Got it just last month and the only cause for concern is that, at start-up i have to turn the key in the ignition at least twice before the engine starts. I am not comfortable with this at all and i want to be sure of the problem before taking the car to the mechanics'I guess its a fuel pressure issue, since you have to start more than once, to be sure, turn on the ignition more than once (without cranking) hold for 5secs, on each turn then start, if its starts up once then I suggest you have your fuel pump checked. If there's a check light on instrument panel have your car scanned. Read a little more on this thread, about fuel pumps and how they work. Best of luck. |
Y u change the price from 1,180,000 to 1,230,000 or have u fixed the ac? |

TCD: thanks. What does SN above mean please, synthetic?I have no idea, if its synthetic it will be written clearly on the container. |
tolaolu: as regards the oil spill you were right its the seal. however the mechanic says the only way of fixing it is to remove the engine. do i all him.Check light went off cause the battery was disconnected to work on the starter motor. Yes you have to remove the engine to replace the large seal near the transsmission. |
koboko69: Childish rants. If you are a fool, all Lagosians are not fools.Instead of throwing insults it would be nice to raise some valid points as the original poster has done, he mentiond a few facts that affect lagosians on a daily basis. Yes fashola administration has performed credibly but there are those who think otherwise and at the end of the day the deciders of who stays come 2015 are lagosians, I will not stoop to your level by insulting you cause it will just be a waste of time, this is a forum people air their views "political" as they feel, I'm not paid to say what I think, when its time to vote I will vote based on past performance of the individual, his proposals for development of the state not just infrastructure but "people oriented development" empowerment of the people and also the platform on which he intends to run. Meanwhile I do not live in lagos. |
That was long........ Summary tell okada pdp will allow you work any where, tell lekki ajah people toll gate will be removed. APC is in real trouble a combination of angry students in lagos, angry okada ridders and tollgate users well who can know PDP might be lucky come 2015. anti people policies by fashola might just crumble the party |

tumababa: my mech told me thats d price of d new one.in lagos10-15k max brand new. Stop asking your mechanic find out your self. |
tumababa: Im also getting convinced its d af sensor b1s1. 25k no b small money ooWhere did u get it for 25k? |
tumababa: Before i confuse you guys d more, i only get the misfire wen i revv d engine for just like 1 second intermittently. Not on idle. My conclusion is that d misfire goes once the engine is warm. I warmed it for 15mins this morning before driving out, what a smooth ride..... So what i need to find out is what is causing the misfire before the engine warms upYou have ruled out Plugs Coils Fuel pump. Replace AF sensor 1 bank 1. Since it has to warm up b4 working Seems heater circuit is faulty. |
evarts: HI I have a Toyota RAV4 2001 model (2,000cc) 1AZFSE 4WD (Manual). I need to get my fuel injectors cleaned and serviced but my mechanic states that the engine needs to be removed to clean the injectors. Is this true or is there another way that this can be done?Your mechanic wants to rip u off injectors can be removed without droping engine. As For mileage city driving and highway driving are not the same. Before you dismantle your car for no just reason please take it for a scan. What is the Proper Way to Poo? Our posture in the washroom immensely affects our health. Yet more than half among us don’t maintain a right sitting posture while relieving them off the body waste. The presently and most commonly used toilet seat is a fairly new type which came into being after the engineering revolution. Today, the experts and doctors are more worried about this ‘throne’ that is posing a lot of health problems as it is totally against the natural rule! The western toilet seat is one of the major causes which do not let people get fully relieved of their body waste, which in turn gives them unhygienic internal body conditions. The MAIN reason for this is the anal canal can NOT become straight to let the stool pass easy and fully. This results in obstructive constipation. As per the olden rule of sitting in a full squat position lets the anal canal straightens which in turn helps to pass the stool properly and fully. This is a very important post that shows how people around the world are suffering from this ‘syndrome’ and as many as 75% of colon cancers are happening in the cecum, an area that doesn’t get not fully removed in the ‘throne sitting’ posture. It is because of this very reason that the traditional Asian as well as African cultures are free from any colon cancer! So, a squatting toilet is a much better option that offers best toilet postures and is also being recommended to the western world inhabitants as well. Source:theunknownbutnothidden.com

tolaolu: for a P0420: Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (bank 1)Catalytic converters can "not" be worked on only replaced. Check for leaks on the exhaust system fix if any erase the codes and re scan after using the car for a few days, if it comes back then its bad. |
tolaolu: thanks very much as regards the oil leakage. would there be a need to change the Seal.Visual inspection b4 deciding, that's y I said use a pit or raise the car up so u can see the source of the leak. |
For the vibration, clean throttle body. For the leak "engine oil" check car on a pit but my guess is the large seal on the crankshaft close to gearbox. For the scan code. You either have a leaking exaust or an old catalyst. Catalitic converters treated here: https://www.nairaland.com/1788778/maintenance-tips-cars-quick-response#24358753 For the water from the a.c that's normal. |
tumababa: I av not replaced that cos i need to be sure. P0351 is ignition coil error code. Not heater circuit. Pls kindly confirm that for me. Thanks.Ur right ignition coil A primary /secondary circuit malfunction Its an Intermitent fault. Refering to failure of coil number 1. Swap coils first to see if the code will change to a differnent cylinder number. "Note the number you swapped the number 1 coil to" clear code, run engine for a while "cold start" and see re scan. If codes change to a different coil number e.g p0353 and you swapped out 1 - 3 then replace faulty coil. |
I guess you have a failing oxygen sensor that picks up after the car has warmed up p0351 heater circuit malfunction, if I remember well the last time you posted readings here and ikenna said you have a bad oxygen sensor cause voltage was more than 1v. Sensor 1 bank 1 replace it and see what happens. |
Provie: Tanx bro. I wil do dat asap.I stand corrected but I doubt there's anything to allign I guess your rear camber bushings are bad or worn out. |
Provie: So I must go thru the 49-page thread b4 I get an assistance I need urgently? Ok.Write on the last page. Reading would be nice, most people just duplicate threads for already solved problems. |
