Truckpusher:This is what happened. The international community did not want GEJ to continue because they knew a lot of what was going on underground, related to how GEJ and was destroying Nigeria, than most Nigerians could imagine. Britain, for example, is assisting Nigeria with the collation of financial forensic evidence in relation to channels the likes of Allison-Madueke used as conduit pipes to drain Nigeria. All that had to happen was for Buhari to win and the West would be ready to step in to arm-twist GEJ if he tried any sit-tight shenanigans. This was precisely what played out. GEJ was not even given time to inhale before the calls started coming him for him to concede victory to Buhari. Anyway, it is not a fight. You are free to believe GEJ acted in the interest of peace but I prefer to think, with evidence linked to his behaviour in office pointing to this fact, that GEJ was a self-serving and callous President who acted to save his own skin. |
Eziachi:Thanks Pa Eziachi for this brilliant post. This is what we are trying to show them. Was the over-the-top violence necessary? Was the unbelievable rigging necessary? Was the repressive throwback intimidation of the opposition necessary? The answer is no to all the above but they did it anyway because Wike and PEJ never imagined GEJ, with his Presidency as their ultmate protection 'tool', would lose the election. Their "no shaking" thinking was that any atrocity is cool as the slate would be wiped clean once GEJ was sworn in for a second term come May 2015 and no one would have to answer for any wrongdoing. Sadly for them, this did not happen and that is why we are where we are today with the likes of Wike and his minions in an uncomfortable position because they may possibly face punishment for the violence, arson et al as Buhari vowed. |
Truckpusher:Bruv, believe what you want. You should eschew this your preponderance for work withing sentiments always. http://www.gongnews.net/2015-elections-obama-cameron-forced-jonathan-to-concede-to-buhari/ 2015 elections: Obama, Cameron forced Jonathan to concede to Buhari |
SeverusSnape:If you have something to say you can always say it politely without insult however passionately you feel about the contribution of others. I did not make up the fact that the elections in Rivers were the most violent in Nigeria and I did not make up the emotional pledge from Buhari that the ugly developments during the rivers election will be looked into. Bruv, the problem is that you never calm down to note what others are saying. See for yourself what I am saying here, from the article below, to note I never just speak garrulously or irrelevantly. By the way, I never said APC will win in Rivers. My point is that (1) it is good the election was annulled because of the gross irregularity and rigging which was probably not required and (2) punishment, as Buhari promised, may come to Wike and others because of the needless violence and killing over an election the PDP would probably win anyway without rigging. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/05/rivers-election-we-wont-forgive-killers-arsonists-buhari/ Rivers election: We won’t forgive killers, arsonists – Buhari |
MizMyColi:This petty and vengeful girl has come with her wahala again. Firstly, I thought you said you would ignore me? Secondly, Truckpusher quoted me and I responded to what he wrote. It is called a conversation which means me and him can have our exchanges you are not compelled to read if you don't want to. That is different to quoting someone, as you did, to then rant off topic. I would be happy oif you carried on ignoring me. At least Truckpusher is amusing in his own way and has useful political knowledge even if he chooses to be sentimental in translating them. You, on the other hand, never say anything politically relevant or interesting. |
Truckpusher: I like you. you are amusing. Jonathan who was busy cutting deals to save his own skin? When will you get it that GEJ did everything to remain in power yet the forces that decided he must go, before he destroyed Nigeria, were too powerful and influential for the cowardly, self-preservationist and accidental President to dare look in the face? You think it was only local politics at play? David Cameron, UK PM, called GEJ, who was reluctant to concede victory, to promise him he would face ICC prosecution, like Charles Taylor, if his attempt to sit tight and cling to power, even when Buhari had clearly won, led to violence and death. You guys are 100% sentimental and 0% pragmatic. GEJ was always about his own self-preservation ahead of anything else. He did not want to leave and was ready to fight dirty and this started with the Orubebe show of shame while results were being announced. Believe what you want anyway. You never do reality. You are just emotional 100% of the time. |
omenka: Ha ha ha . You know them too well. Empty chest beaters. "Ab0ki will never lead us again" was their motto in 2014. Ab0ki is leading them now yet they cannot do diddly squat. They will ground Nigeria if GEJ does not get a second term yet the arrowhead of those threats are now silent with some even openly pledging allegiance to Buhari. It is posters like that you quote that politicians use and waste because they are not realistic individuals. |
Truckpusher:What a joke. Is this not what you guys always do? I.e hype your local champions only to then suffer the indignity of seeing them dismantled without as much as a whisper? What happened to the "ND militants will cripple Nigeria if GEJ does not get a second term" noise? Yeah, I thought so. It turned out to be completely empty chest-beating. Even the comedian "just joking" Jimmy Agbaje made the same threat when he said ND militant will ground Nigeria if GEJ does not win. Did Nigerians not show you say dem no send una empty threats? They went out and voted Buhari in and stuck a finger up at empty braggarts like you and all your threats they knew was just empty, impotent and childish rants. The ND militans are falling over themselves today to pledge support for Buhari. Edwin clark has now openly pledged support for Buhari and is now rubbishing GEJ daily. Man pass man and Buhari is not Wike's mate however much you wish to hype him up. |
The Rivers election was the most violent in Nigeria courtesy of the desperation of Wike and the very wicked PEJ who took it upon herself to act as his fairy 'godmother' just so they could show Ameachi who is boss. PEJ never thought her husband would lose and concede victory to Buhari. She therefore sanctioned Wike to do what had to be done however violent and messy such was. "No shaking" was her mentality. "Na we dey ther today and na we go dey there tomorrow" was there collective thinking. Useless Neanderthals. they acted like Nazi war criminals who expected to get away with atrocities. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/192023-breaking-tribunal-sacks-wike-as-rivers-governor-orders-rerun.html The Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal has sacked Nyesom Wike as the Governor of Rivers State. |
Adminisher:Abi OOOh. even looking at Wike, and without narrating things I have heard about him from reliable sources, you can tell he is a stone-cold killer. I wish he could be prosecuted for some of the deaths he caused directly. |
StarBoard:Thank you. The violence and killing was terrible and out of this world even by Nigerian standard. Wike, the murderous thug, took it very personal. I remember Buhari being very emotional when he said the injustice in Rivers will be corrected. that was when I knew Wike was in trouble. GMB, the president-elect at the time, was clearly very troubled. Nigeria does not need the likes of Wike leading them. His people may have chosen him but he should not be allowed to get away with wasting innocent lives, all for the sake of politics, while him and his own are cosseted in luxury everyday. |
modath:We all know politics is a dirty business but Wike is not moderate or humane at all. He is the poster child of what the PDP produce as a staple of its political offering to Nigeria. I.e stone-cold killers and thugs ready to waste many lives to get their way. Gbenga Daniel was the same as well. With the elections annulled completely then he will not be governor after the judgement and will have no immunity henceforth. The prosecution service should get to work and bring up charges against him for his numerous before, during and after the Rivers guber election. Very wicked and evil individual. |
modath:Indeed. I don't know why some are so amnesic. What they did in Rivers was very wicked i.e wholesale, brazen and blatant daylight robbery that embarrassed Nigeria immensely. This was one of the States international election observers complained about bitterly. I remember clearly Buhari warning them that the injustice in Rivers and elsewhere will be corrected. Wike should brace up for whatever comes his way. Silly thug. He thought he could do what he wanted merely because PEJ and GEJ were behind him. Yet he forgot one of the major consideration in politics which is that "power is transient". Will GEJ and PEJ now come to his aid? Nonsense. |
NgeneUkwenu: Classic !!! ROFLMAO !!!!!!Let me add some more. Power is transient by Sambo Dasuki. Things fall apart by Deizani Allison-Madueke Overtake don overtake by Olisa Metuh See Gobe by Kashamu Buruji. Plunge the knife in his back by Edwin Clarke. All Talk and no action written by co authors Tompolo and Fatso Dokubo-Asari in collaboration with many empty barrel militants. Aboki will never rule us again written by the chest beater association of Nairaland in 2014. Nigeria will burn if Jonathan does not get a second term written by empty loudmouth and chest beater association. The response to that book was called Buhari no send and written by Gbawe in collaboration with all Nairaland progressives ![]() |
If you are indeed the original Cramjones then all I will say is that being principled always and showing integrity consistently matters a lot here. You cannot tell us you got paid thousands of dollars to promote APC today, thereby portraying yourself as a money-hungry mercenary, only to say to us tomorrow that you are a 'freedom fighter' who loves Nigeria above everything else. The hypocrisy is glaring and nauseating. Sooner or later, folks will get tired of you because it will become obvious to them that "those who stand for nothing fall for everything". They can then deduce that even your support of Buhari and the APC is insincere. People will ignore you once it it is clear to them you stand for nothing and will say/do anything to pursue your latest interest or attention-seeking obsession. That is what has happened to you and you need to hear the truth without any sugar coating. |
EUROBOMBER:You do not have to explain yourself to him. Next time simply ignore him. To many here, you must be after monetary reward once you say something they intolerantly do not like to hear. |
Beremx:Lol. My dear Berem, I will see you soon. Hope you are well? I have noticed you don't post as much as you used to. Any reason for this? |
EUROBOMBER:you are welcomed. A break from NL is good now and then. You can then return refreshed and perhaps with a new and better perspective. |
welcome back. Nairalanders, when jaded, should learn to take a break from NL and come back when they have a renewed passion to talk to others about how our nation is governed. |
SirShymexx:It is not as simple as that. Politics plays a huge part in the underdevelopment of the SW. Post military rule, i.e 1999 onwards, Nigerian politics was highly unevolved and rudimentarily ineffective because it was entirely about rapacious greed and self-aggrandizement of a few. from 1999 looting to performance ratio was probably 70:30. I.e political leaders steal 70% of what is available and fund States with the rest. This happened uniformly across the SW because democracy was in its infancy and elections were never free or fair. Instead elections were "do or die" affairs where 'strong men' , often those who controlled the thugs and patronage system, rigged themselves into power continuously, against the will of the people, to create and maintain a system that systematically and cynically cornered the wealth of a nation for a few. Things are now evolving because the Yorubas, as soon as elections became fairer, rejected the crooks, thugs and misrulers to pitch tent with leaders of proven ability. This has resulted in the gradual changes we are seeing today whereby the SW, in a cesspit of underdevelopment and politics of greed and corruption, is slowly becoming a well-led region where the ratio of looting to performance is probably around 40:60. As elections become fairer, leadership accountability improves and as democratic governance become more refined, and as Nigerians become more politically sophisticate enough to unemotionally vote out misrulers and demand more from leaders, then I feel the ratio will be 10:90 in the next ten years. Much of the underdevelopment you see is due to the wrong sort of people, whether Abacha or Gbenga Daniel, controlling very important political positions. Ultimately, the OP is a bigot and mischief-maker. We understand his 'mission' which is to belittle and discredit the Yoruba by ignorantly parading them as unproductive and "parasitic". The Yorubas responding here are simply dealing with him from that perspective. We are not saying the SW is now the USA or the UK but the point we are making is that, within the context of general mediocrity that is Nigeria, we hold our own and cannot, by any stretch of the wildest imagination, be viewed as a people whose worth to Nigeria can be doubted or discredited. |
@OP You are a shocking and hateful bigot with a pathological hatred of the Yorubas that I personally feel stems from the inferiority complex you feel toward the Yoruba ethnic group. You have certainly been 'mauled' on this thread you started with the belief your ignorant opinion, indoctrinated into you in your villages and communities, will be upheld. I.e the ridiculously ignorant falsehood, borne of bad belle, that "the Yorubas contribute nothing to Nigeria" whereas the reality, for those who deal with facts and reality, is that the Yorubas are arguably the most important and productive ethnic group in Nigeria. Let me heap more misery on your ignorant mind. Do you know what Unesco `world heritage sites are? Do your research. I can only tell you that merely two exist in Nigeria. One is the Osun Osogbo sacred grove in Osun State and the other is the Sukur cultural landscape in Adamawa. The Osun Osogbo yearly festival is attended by thousands yearly from every corner of the universe because of how highly respected the rich Yoruba culture and ethnographic deepness is. I chose this example , when I can cite at least 100 positives the Yorubas contribute to Nigeria, because it shows that a land and people God has blessed cannot be cursed by a repellent hater like you. Have you done anything deliberate in your region, of world class beauty and cultural/aesthetic appeal, to merit inclusion in the Unesco world heritage site list? Do you even have a culture deep and diverse enough to deliver what the Yorubas have given Nigeria before you open your bigoted mouth to ask what the SW "offer"? Silly hater. What do you, your people and region "offer" to Nigeria? I keep saying it that the problem of the Yorubas is that we are secure in ourselves and probably least braggarts in a nation of many ethnic groups with some suffering from deep insecurities, inferiority complex and identity crisis. To that end, we see no reason to wake up daily and proclaim our real worth which makes us very pivotally important to Nigeria. This is why someone like you given to empty braggadocio, borne of inferiority complex, can start a silly thread like this which ignores the overwhelming facts and reality on the ground that shows any neutral and fair-minded person that the Yorubas are a huge blessing and asset to Nigeria. I really despise prejudiced people and you need to learn to start appreciating others instead of waking up daily and trying to deny them credit for what they are and what they contribute to society merely because you have a hateful mind you do not want to repair. http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/ Nigeriahttps://blog.art21.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/Art-211-e1329662710488.jpg |
like Fela would say, Dasuki "go hear wien". He fully deserves it. All professional soldiers , whether active or retired, are trained to follow orders from their superior officer/boss. Yet the best Soldiers, who remain dedicated to professionalism and country above all else, will draw the line at being used as 'tools' to harass innocent civilians who have done no wrong and are merely pursuing what the laws and constitutions of a Country entitles them to fight for. I.e the chance to vote and be voted for. What did Buhari do to have a 'battalion' surround his house, during the election period, cocking their guns loudly and intimidatingly? Shame on Dasuki. Another 'jeun-jeun' disgrace to the Nigerian army same as all those clowns who orchestrated the whole Buhari certificate saga. I think PMB is even handling them leniently. Those fools disgraced Nigeria, allowed themselves to be used partisanly, and made our military appear unprofessional, unprincipled, hungry and easily corrupted. “The day there was a security siege at my home, I woke up to see that my house had been surrounded by armed policemen in the course of the campaign. In fact it was the cocking of their guns that rose me and my family members from our sleep. Only to discover that tens of policemen, police vehicles, and some other unidentified vehicles darkened our windows around my home. |
BushidoBlue:Nobody told you everything/everyone related to the PDP is bad. Also, has Buhari not unequivocally made it clears he is ready to work with all Nigerians, whether PDP/APC or Christian/Muslim, who now share his vision of moving Nigeria forward regardless of their past? Even Tinubu declared same over the Ikimi issue when he stated that, in the spirit of "reconciliation" and moving Nigeria forward, the APC would not discriminate against anyone wishing to join the Party, wherever they are coming from, as long as they are willing to do things the APC way. One thing you and others must understand is that, unlike before, these Ministers will be sacked ASAP if they do not perform and do not meet minimum time-limited target set for them. It is a new culture now where indolence and incompetence will not be indulged or tolerated as GEJ did. You can get stellar performance even out of former PDP leaders. It is about a culture of deterrence where there is certain consequences for misconduct or failing to do your job satisfactorily as obtains throughout the world. Abba Moro scammed Nigerian youths and sent several to their death with his fraudulent 'employment' wuruwuru. GEJ did nothing at all. No one will try that under Buhari. Even if they did, then there will be severe consequences for acting in the way Moro did. It is not being a PDP member or former member that is the problem. The problem is acting in a PDP way and getting away with doing that. In short, the problem is the culture of impunity the PDP created which encouraged very bad people to join politics and made even decent folks become bad because they all realise there is no consequence for wrongdoing. The nature of man means that deterrents must always be in place to prevent them giving in to animal instincts. |
@OP You have to give the new government some time. Buhari was sworn in at the end of May meaning he has been in power for 4 months out of a mandated 48 months. Ministerial appointments were slow to materialise but I think there were valid reasons for the delay. Ministers coordinate the functioning of every section of Nigeria. Why not give it another 4-6 months of Ministers being in place, and working with the support and backing of the President, before you write off a four months old regime? I will give an example. You can be a brilliant architect supervising a commercial building project. You may have drawn up an inspired and well-regarded design masterpiece. Yet you will look ordinary if you do not have an equally competent foreman or site manager, in place, who is your link with those who do the real work. It is about hierarchy and delegating correctly. Buhari now has his 'site managers' in place. Get behind him and give him reasonable time to deliver. 4 months is a joke for how severely damaged Nigeria is. Any reasonable Nigeria who truly knows, in detail, the damage the PDP has done over 16 years will realise the challenge the APC is facing and would thus be willing to give Buhari time to reverse this damage so that forward motion can begin. |
@OP. Do you mean the Nigerian Economic Summit Group? If yes then provide more info so those who are not aware of it can contribute here. If I am correct then I think you want us to discuss the latest summit of the group and the issues raised there. http://www.nesgroup.org/ |
I agree with most of what the article stated. take for example the famous Buhari "body language". Some don't understand what it means and how it works. They therefore discredit it. Yet the reality is that Nigerians, despite their noise and fake bravado, are one of the people on earth who will quickly behave when they have something to lose like their job and means of supporting themselves and their families. It is crystal clear that there will be consequences under Buhari, unlike what obtained under others, for incompetence, misconduct and deliberate sabotage designed to aid the agenda of those who want to keep Nigeria underdeveloped. Otedola's interest cannot override the far greater interest of Nigeria under Buhari. That can happen under the weak and unprincipled GEJ but will not be tolerated under Buhari. Therefore the man responsible for keeping the gas flowing, which assists stable electricity, will now do so as efficiently as he can or face the consequences of any action that impedes gas flow and thus the supply of electricity. Nigerians should praise God that Buhari took charge because we need a President like him and I think far better is to come because Mr.President will 100% support and enable his ministers to deliver. He will also not hesitate to dismiss those who fail to perform. I am willing to bet that the now internationally acclaimed Buhari body language will ensure ministers will be desperate to outperform each other rather than what obtained under GEJ where the daily obsession of ministers was not performance but the mansion they are buying in Dubai or London with stolen loot. |
Acidosis:Why are you so bitter on these sort of thread? Is it a crime for Nigerians to be impressed with the intellectual prowess and public-speaking ability of Ministerial nominees? If this sort of thread is not your thing then fair enough. You can do the classy thing and ignore this thread. @Topic. Fashola I know of already but I was very impressed with Kachikwu and Kemi Adeosun also. All in all, we can be optimistic these guys can deliver results with a President who will enable them and also hold them accountable for meeting targets set for them. |
Saw some of the screening today. I thought Kachikwu was intelligent, knowledgeable and highly likely to be capable of delivering solutions. |
watching it now. This man is a future President. No doubt. The guy is too much abeg. |
SeverusSnape:no problem. Also I am not engaged in an E-war with anyone. The point, which I think you now get, is that she should contribute positively and not sentimentally, irrelevantly or emotionally. Someone should make her aware of this. Below is a response to her post on page 4. Note also the numerous responses that make it obvious people think she has a problem. The topic is simple enough. Rate the nominees and highlight those that impressed you the most. Like I said, even PDP die-hard devotees acquitted themselves well here by contributing positively to the thread and providing their own opinion which matched the demand of the topic. MyMouth:Another response to the lady by a poster who clearly recognises the 'bad belle' leaving Mizmycoli unable to give credit where due. udeagbalaC:Another poster wondering what she is ranting about. BALLOSKI: |
SeverusSnape:There was no insult. If you read what I wrote then you will note I am right and she deserves telling off. I was not the only one who commented about the 'bad belle' and off - topic nature of her post. Many did. Her post got quoted the most negatively here because it is ngeative, irrelevant and off-topic. If she is an objective person then she will note the perception others have of her and try to contribute positively here. Whether or not Lai was about propaganda in the past is irrelevant. She should give us her own name and not limit her contribution to attacking the choice of other posters merely because she cannot stand that Lai Mohammed was praised by many here. Did you see the screening? If yes then you should tell us those who impressed you as others have done. |
bashydemy:How did Dambazau do in your opinion ? I am most interested in him because he will get the defence portfolio and I want an end to the menace of Boko Haram. |
