Many Nigerians both rich and poor have this warped mentality that the man should be solely responsible for taking care of the family. So who takes care of the man?

I think the men most times too assume the responsibility without talking about their financial expectations in the home.

Throughout last year I couldn't get myself a new set of jeans trouser even tho I needed it badly despite having the money.
All the money I made last year 90% when into paying bills and household expenses.
It so crazy how you has a man you will have over 200k in your acc and you be scared to even buy yourself something of 10k cos of fear of the unknown.
In all of this my wife and kids still has many clothes they haven't worn I paid for you.

Last weekend my wife bought herself over 10 new shirt and when I saw it I reminded her how I couldn't even buy myself new jean....she told me nah me no wan buy nah.
It really hurt me cos whatever money I make the family expenses come first before my own personal needs but it isn't same for women.

I just feel marriage is design for men to suffer honestly.
People just taking from you and no one really care about what you need.

I switched jobs last year and decided to get a few shorts since my previous bank allows jeans and t shirt/polo which became my normal wears.

I went to get shirts and found out Tommy (TH) Shirts were more expensive compared to the last time I bought and decided to buy some other brand (Joseph Abboud). For home and madam was vexed that I could have at least mix match by getting some TH.

About 2 months later, we went to the mall and madam packed a few TH shirts. I looked at her and laughed because for her profession, she wears a coat on her shirt at work.

One thing though, she encourages me to spend on myself too but I guess I don't know how to but I keep trying. One thing I spend on though is food since I do the major grocery shopping most times and will cook whatever I want to eat. For me, food makes me happy.

Lest I forget, we contribute 95% of our earnings, I draft the budget and we sit together to ensure it is reasonable and she manages the savings account.

I remembered telling my wife we must be selfish enough to stay alive for the kids and ourselves. I have learned not to put myself under any pressure whatsoever.

I would rather see it from the perspective of lack of exposure. Many have been brainwashed by the absurd lifestyle they grew up in and ignorantly think there isn't any better life than that.

Why do I have to? Many others are invited and it is no big deal so why is his own (or other Nigerians) invited something special? Interestingly, Trump did not write the list and those in the committee might have selected him because they decided to select a Pastor from the African race and someone suggested him. The challenge is the way Nigerians are celebrating the news is alarming.

I am amused why people keep making the news of Nigerians invited to Trump's inauguration a big deal. Are they the only foreigners invited and how does their invitation affect both the administration and the lives of the everyday American. The invitation is like every other invitation we all get to the various functions we are invited to and doesn't make any of more significance than the other.

A spouse could ask such questions if the partner in question is not understanding where his or her allegiance should be. No big deal however, the presentation is what matters most. There are better ways to pass the message in a subtle and matured way that the spouse should understand.

It isn't all my efforts all of the time as my wife also cooks when she's chanced. That said, I don't think most men that don't cook don't do so because of time. I think it is usually about interest and perhaps, circumstances. My wife usually works till 6pm or 7pm most days when she is scheduled. Do I expect her to drive home and then cook when I get back not later than 5:15pm? Wouldn't that be unreasonable if I know how to and just decide not to?

Please I really need assistance or advice to help me finance my last semester as a master's student in the US, I'm in dire need of my tuition fees amounting to $8000 for the spring 2025 semester as things didn't go as planned, I will appreciate any help, resources or advice you could offer me to allow me graduate in May. Have you tried approaching your Graduate Program Director to explain your current situation, s/he may be able to find a source of funding for that one semester or something to waive out of state tuition and reduce your cost. Were you initially funded by your program and lost your funding due to reasons that are your fault?

You can check on credit karma for banks that are willing to offer you personal loans based on your credit score. Another option might be to try apply for an AMEX credit card since they usually give reasonable limits to student and also do interest free for some period of time.

Lastly, approach international office to see what advice they have for you with respect to enrollment. They can allow you enroll while you keep thinking of how to solve your issue. They could also allow you apply for work visa to work outside of campus due to hardship and compelling change in your financial situation.
