Dinner:
Had planned boiling plantains for dinner however, getting to the store, there was no plantains. I got home and saw madam boiled some rice for the kids which means I have more time to experiment with dinner. Thought about smashed potatoes and then gnocchi came to mind. We usually buy only Yukon gold potatoes and I decided to try with it. Made my first gnocchi, although it took so much time, it came out nice.

You have a point, however I’m not eligible at this time to access a SALAD also SALAD should apply for just 1 month as the case maybe. I need a 2 months buffer to get back on my feet and recover my sanity because at this point in time, the only time I have peace is when I sleep and Sometimes I wish don’t just wake up. I don't know what the terms are now but back in the days, it was given for up to 6 months. I would suggest you write your account officer to confirm first. |

My heart breaks. I am not the one who asked you for the stuff however, why not do what he asked for. You are not showing your name so why are you so bothered about it? If your job means much to you and you think it might have implications on your job should this be known at your company, for your pride like I mentioned earlier, apply for a salad. Richtaiwo: For this remark alone, I doubt Wike stands any chance of winning any office that is to be decided by votes of the masses. And indeed, this video is already on the Internet and will continue to be used as evidence against him either in the near or distant future.
Additionally, he can only say this in the midst of heavy security presence. If he is in doubt, he can just take a ride to the nearest market without his security details and repeat the remarks. He will get appropriate reaction in the appropriate language.
I used to like him, but on this, he goofed. Was Tinubu's video on how he was going to erode people's purchasing power not on the internet? Was Tinubu's campaign rally where he said nothing and the few times he talked, he spoke gibberish not on the internet? In essence, we are too greedy and selfish. Thus, if Wike gives them bread, he will be voted massively. |

descarado: Bros, you are too good honestly. My hubby can cook, takes care of the kids and some other stuffs. I am grateful for that. I am also very grateful for my wife. She makes life easy although we sometimes have our differences. It is actually good when both parties work hand-in-hand as it makes life easier and burdens the stress of living abroad particularly, the fact that your family is all you have. I think overall, our men particularly, those who think the home front is solely the responsibility of the woman wake up to reality. It is unfair if a wife has to do all of that and the man expects her to share in the finances. Many who want to claim the traditional life should remember back in the days, the men was responsible for the family economy is why the wife did all the domestic work nevertheless, the men helped with the butchering of the meat and its roasting (they were still involved in the home chores). |

descarado: You think it's easy with everybody on your throat. You are covering for your husband, family, bills, kids, your retirement and what have you.
I contracted deep cleaning my house these days. No energy. Anything to make life easy abeg. Remember, some of these ladies have sick husbands. They will not tell you what they are going through. Even abroad, they are afraid of backlash.
One of my relatives retired as a level 8 nurse. All the kids have grown and moved out. Husband was sick for so long. At a point, she took him to care hone so she can breath. Kids supported her 100% cis this lady has really suffered. This lady was responsible for her family both extended.
Reality is diff from all these nairaland talk. Come to uk and see what our men are doing, you will shake your head.
I have said it before, anybody that has a level headed man has a diamond and shoukd be ever thankful cos many are not finding it easy. It is well. I hope our men will also learn to be helpful on the home front. Unfortunately, I am not good on the other front besides grocery shopping, cooking, and doing dishes. That is why I try as much as I can to ensure these ones are done by me most of the time because my wife sees to cleaning the house and arranging the play area which I find very stressful for her. I also strive to make sure she sleeps much hours because she wants to wake up everyday at 5:30am even on days when she resumes work at 10am which I frown at so even when the alarm goes up, I make sure I encourage her to sleep more except on days she is resuming 9am. |

CommonSense1967: True. What I have noticed over the years is that these women start to lose respect for these men when they start to make money and then these men are not making that much. This is especially true when the ladies thought they were coming to the US with a guy that they saw in Nigeria as been very successful. Another angle is that, these ladies lose more respect for these men when they see other Nigerian men making good money and their own is just getting by. They like to compare their men to other men. I'm not saying it's right, just my own observations. They will say why can't you make money like your mate. I know of a guy that brought a girl from Nigeria, they had twins, she left him simply because his friends were making more money then him and living a higher standard than them. And this was a long time ago before lottery that brought in so many people . At the end of the day, a lot of women in Nigeria will like to leave their husband's too but they lack the financial capacity to do so. The US allows them that freedom that's why it seem more rampant here. That's the bottom line of all these long talk. I don't understand how people do this comparison ooo. You do not have an idea what the other person is doing and the best you can do is to work hard and be contented with whatever you have. One thing is you might work hard, study hard, and do everything and fate doesn't bring you the best you think you deserve. Interestingly, many might even think you are not smart enough (based on how our society reasons). That said though, I would encourage men to support their wives to be well empowered and also, not neglect themselves in the process. There's no crime starting with a survival job, the crime is remaining in that position forever. I understand sometimes, due to the stress that people have gone through, it is sometimes difficult to start all over, but it is better late than never. If possible too, they can run it side by side. |

descarado: If it's only salary, that's better. They will never help in the house. They want a traditional wife as well as the money. As time goes on, the woman is mentally and physically stressed. She make money and give the man to send to his family like it's his money. Yet the family badmouth her. The man will never open up that the money is from the wife.
When I wanted to travel outside the country, everybody was like go and study nursing. They will push and push you. Some work more than 12 hours a shift go home and become a wifey. Cook and wash. Some men can't even load the washing machine. The worst is the money you give them, they use to have side chick. Some of these wives know and it's a stab in the heart. The things I see here, gosh, any man that come out to cry, I have no pity at all. What they do here is shocking and they do it boldly and with pride.
As for those who earn more than their wives, no be naija man again. He willstill behave like one regardless.
No woman want a divorce or a broken home. All the broken homes I have seen and intervened in, 98% is caused by the man. And guess what, if they are married to non Nigerian, they behave.
And some of these non Nigerians don't even care to make a single Nigerian dish for them, yet they are in it enduring. Why nit replicate it for your naija wife. Is she your slave?
Tired of these stories. I am not agreeing with the bolded. I understand some men relaxes when their wives start making the money and go into car exportation business which I find irritating. However, I will advice these women not to do over time (many do because that is where their extra money for the flamboyant lifestyle comes from) so that they have enough time for themselves to do some of the chores they need to. This will also help the men involved re-align their thoughts/positions and perhaps, continue with their hard work may be reduce it a bit while also, improving themselves. |

CommonSense1967: Well, a lot of men will not disclose to these women that they are barely surviving in the US. When these women gets to the US then their eyes opens up. The Indians also bring their women over but in most cases, the man is also making good income from IT jobs unlike Nigerian men doing cabbie or even unemployed. At the end of the day, most of these women will lose respect when they start to make way more than their men. Especially when they feel deceived. No vex, how many Nigerian men dey do the cabbie business sef? Besides are those in it not making their good money? At least, I have one who does it because it works best for his large family (it helps them avoid daycare and before and after school cost). I think the most important thing is marrying someone who values a home and know it takes two people to build one. |

There's so much exaggeration here. How would you say 85% to 90% are single mother? Where are you getting such statistics from? What is the sample size?
That said, I will advice our men to also improve themselves while they improve their wives. If you slave for your wife to go through nursing school and you do not improve yourself, you are likely setting yourself up. One thing though, please do not discourage your wife from fulfilling her dreams because you want to suppress her.
One thing though, do these nurses make so much money (even with the overtime)? Is it even healthy to do over time like many of them do? |

Lalami3232: In Nigeria, 95% of our women are single mothers. It's either they're single mothers of living children or single mothers to dead children (abortions). I'm in a good mood today and patriotic, hence I'm saying 95%, but we know the actual figure. If you didn't meet her as a virgin, there's 98% chances that she's a mother to one of the aforementioned categories. What do I even know sef aside enlightening my fellow men nationwide with the good news May your soul find the peace it needs. |

anyone who earns 90k monthly is above the minimum wage thus will certainly make it better than most ( at the end of the month). is it enough? probably not, but it will certainly feed a normal family. Are you sure they are surviving only on the salary? |
