elampiro:He won't pass up the chance to win some trophies here with all his efforts over the years; few years with mourinho basically gurantees that, not even madrid at this current state. If he really had any true ambition, he should be going to Barcelona and not madrid. You forgot he just signed a new contract worth 200k per week although not very convincingly with probably a steep release clause. Madrid would have topay over the odds to get him, and it might not be that bad after all if we can get a top keeper to replace him. |
elampiro:Mendes would come in handy. He's their agent. If mourinho comes in, DDG is going nowhere. |
elampiro:Say whatever you want, we need to move on from a lot of poor players. Rooney is one, he shouldn't be leading our attack or any top team with title aspirations. No one should mention LVG building any foundation. He's built nothing or if anything at all, he's building united's grave. |
elampiro:Rooney deserves more blame than he gets. Even when we were on a good form early this season, i remember us dropping points simply because Rooney failed to score. He started this year better obviously, but if he had started the season the same way, surely we would have had more points by now to see us through these difficult times. I remember everything. In fact, i'd say Rooney has done more harm to us than the good Martial has provided. ![]() |
LVG himself has admitted it finally. We won't make top 4. Europa is now top priority. But unfortunately, we won't win Europa. |
Keeping Rooney is a lone striker is a huge reason for our problems imo. Any striker worth his salt, has either hold up play, pace or good technical ability, the current Rooney has none of those and it really hurts us in attack. He can't hold of defenders, he never makes any clever moves and we all know his dribbling is just abysmal... No real united fan would say no to Mourinho at this point. |
AdeLaNa1:Not surprised. LVG just had to break this record. |
GloryIsaac: olabode89:LVG cannot win the Europa league. We are out once we face a quality side. |
When i said we won't get top 4, some folks here were doubting me. LVG has to go. There is no other way. First loss at The Stadium of Light in the league. ![]() |
The team has absolutely bottled it today. A terrible performance in a must win game, but it's completely reflective of where we're at as a club. Not sacking Van Gaal back in December has cost us Champions league football for next season IMO. Another game, another shite performance and seemingly another loss against a lower team. |
Before this game LVG has won 31 of 63 games. We're on course for that to be 31 out of 64. That's pathetic. we are getting bossed by fecking sunderland. when will he feck off? |
elampiro:I hope you have noticed how terrible Rooney has been today, since you have been passing judgement on players... |
LVG is an idiot. How can you move Martial to the right to accommodate an inferior player like depay when the RB is already on a yellow? |
raumdeuter:Chelsea won the CL albeit not even convincingly and finished 6th in the league and then regressed by getting knocked out in the group stages of Cl the next season and they ended up in the europa. Do you know what their league position was when they won the CL against Bayern? How can you compare winning the the CL to the europa? All these happened pre mourinho and when he arrived, he got them to the semi finals in his first season when they couldn't go past the group stage in the previous season? This is in fact another improvement on Mourinho's part so how can you compare this to Pep's failure? |
raumdeuter:There are a number of factors and i don't have to explain every single bit to you. For instance, Players increase their work rate and try to secure a place in the first team of the new manager or to avoid being dropped. If you want to claim these too as change of tactics, then i have no other reply to you. |
raumdeuter:Point to where i ascribed improvement to luck. what exactly are you on about? |
raumdeuter: Bayern got to 3 CL finals in 4 years before Pep. Pep has lost disgracefully in the semi-finals for 2 consecutive years, why has he failed to progress to the finals which the norm for Bayern before Pep? |
raumdeuter:I think i made myself clear when i said above average managers. I knew you would fall for this too. Like i said, you are too short sighted and you can continue proving me right. |
raumdeuter:You are too short sighted and unreasonable so you resort to manipulation of stats. The arrival of a new manager( above average ones) almost always coincides with instantaneous improvement but it's no guarantee of average or actual improvement. For example when Klopp first arrived at Liverpool, for the next few games, they picked up points faster than the previous rate recorded with Brendan. But currently after enough games, it's obvious that the rate is more or less similar to what Brendan had been achieving. Would you say Jurgen is a bad coach, or have Liverpool actually failed to improve? Chelsea have not improved in actual fact. What i said earlier stands, Chelsea are still struggling without Mourinho. Besides, you are still avoiding my other questions. |
raumdeuter:Chelsea is currently 13th on the table. Mourinho left them at 15th. These figures are too minute to be considered improvement. Don't he used this same team to win Chelsea their league title in 5 years. chidexxy007:I don't understand how people can criticize Mourinho's football and claim to enjoy watching atletico. |
raumdeuter:Chelsea won 5 in 17 league games with Mourinho. After he left, they've won 2 in 8, so they have even had a higher win rate with Mourinho. I won't let you have your way with stats. BTW, i see you have avoided the replies regards Pep. |
raumdeuter:He has been vindicated by Chelsea's current position. Many thought he was the problem but is Chelsea faring any better after he left? The problem was with the players, as it's so obvious now. Bayern won a treble before Pep, So how else would he match that other than by winning a treble? You are saying you didnt ask pep to win a treble, yet you are asking him to match previous performance of a treble. How does that work. Pls explainBayern got to 3 CL finals in 4 years before Pep. Pep has lost disgracefully in the semi-finals for 2 consecutive years, why has he failed to progress to the finals which the norm for Bayern before Pep? I already gave you an example of how Mourinho improved Madrid in Europe. Conversely, Pep has done the reverse. No one would rate him that high regards the domestic dominance of Bayern if he fails to win the CL this season or even be runner up. I have explained this enough for you already, i can't spoon feed you. A trophy isnt a trophy. There is a marked difference between winning League, FA or CL to winning Charity shied. Charity shield is not a recognized trophy by anyone. Its a Pre-season warmup just like the Emirate cup. Its a cup to open the football seasonYou simply should have said major trophy instead of grasping at straws. Even going by your logic, Ancelloti who won Madrid la Decima failed to win any major trophy the following season and he got sacked. But then and again, your club swiftly secured his services to replace Pep and you stand against the appointment of Jose simply because he got sacked at his previous club. What sort of hypocrisy is this? If i can recall correctly, Ancelloti must have gotten the sack more times than Jose and he is still widely regarded as successful. He even has a poor record in league titles but he is relatively better in cup games, but of course the bundesliga title shouldn't be that much of a problem to him. |
. |
elampiro:Bale has played less minutes in general, and his sample space size is very small which gives him an unfair advantage. |
raumdeuter:You've long claimed he leaves every team in a 'mess' and now you are redefining what you meant earlier by focusing only on Madrid. Why aren't you swift to mention his time at his stints at Chelsea and Inter anymore? Madrid is a Circus of a club, and their problems precedes Mourinho, and would continue without him for a long. But this does not mean i absolve him of every blame. Capello won the league title and still got sacked, did he finish trophyless? so what are you talking about? you think if Pep was at madrid, he wouldn't have been sacked winning ordinary league titles? Trebles are extremely difficult to win which is why only 6 teams have won it in the past 40yrs. No one would hire a coach and tell him his mandate is to win a treble. when only 6 people have managed it in 40yrs. Juup was only able to win a treble in his last year as a coach. To judge a coach by not winning treble isnt smart. Ferguson won a treble in 1999 he couldn't win another treble till he retired, Would you say ferguson was not great relative to his past performance? What nonsense are you saying again? I'm not asking Pep to win a treble. Teams don't win trebles every year. He has just simply failed to reached the heights Bayern were in before his arrival. How can he go past what he hasn't even matched? Mourinho in his last season was trophyless. What is Supercopa espana? a pre season friendly? the equivalent of Charity shield?A trophy is a trophy, regardless major or minor. You claimed he finish the season "trophyless". supercopa espana is oficially recognised as a trophy. |
AdeLaNa1:Some say we should get Mauricio Pochettino, and it appears we have learnt nothing. This decision regards choice of manager especially at this point in time is so important that we cannot afford to get it wrong again. |
elampiro:Can you do a comparison with Lewandowski included? |
raumdeuter:Then i'm not sure you really understand what it means to leave a team in a 'mess'. So tell me again which teams he left in a mess? Winning the German league title even 3 consecutive times but not being able to go past the CL semis with a team that won the treble the previous year and made 3 CL finals in 4 years is not good enough. We can at best say he had a good time at Bayern, but not a great time especially relative to years of success already being enjoyed by a great club. Success is relative. How did Mourinho end up trophyless at Madrid? what nonsense is that? He won the league by record points and goals, and currently that's the only league title Madrid has won in 8 years. He won at least a trophy every single season of his stay at Madrid and even in his final season he won the Supercopa de España against Barcelona. Stick to facts and stop pontificating. |
Odunharry:I hope this is purely coincidence and not Fergie trying to influence the choice of the manager like he did the last time with Moyes which was really disastrous to begin with. He should simply enjoy his retirement in peace and not cause more problems for the club. |
raumdeuter:Carlo winning the CL at first attempt ridicules your theory of Jose leaving teams behind in a mess. You can't have it both ways. And regards not actually winning the CL, i'd say he really improved them.I remember he met a madrid team that couldn't go past the round of 16 for 6 consecutive years ( suffering humiliations like losing 4-0 to liverpool) but he vastly improved their fortunes in Europe and they reached the semi-finals of every CL during his time there but this was a failure to Perez who exactly isn't the most reasonable person. Pep was handed over a Bayern team, champions of Europe( and reached 3 CL finals in 4 years) but hasn't been able to go past the semis but i know you are always quick to defend him and not label him a failure. What would have been Pep's fate if Perez was his boss? You are really confused. |
Spy360:This, When you have a serial failure like Wenger as manager, I'm not surprised you can say this. |
On the matter of foundations, what has LVG really laid down? A good defence? I mean...we're alright, and Smalling is developing into the player we want to, but we still have a defence that often looks very exposed under pressure? In midfield? Schweinsteiger and Carrick are both talented footballers, but both are clearly getting on and won't be here for too much longer. Fellaini shouldn't be a long-term option. Schneiderlin should hopefully be here for the long-term though, which is positive. Up front? Martial's our only really promising talent at the moment. Even an improved Rooney is getting older. Lingard's alright, but unlikely to be much more than a squad player. Januzaj isn't getting a lot of game-time. I think that Mata has plenty of talent, but LVG has demonstrated that he's often unsure how/where to use him. Overall, I'm not really sure as to what foundations LVG has been laying down. It's certainly not our playing style, which has mostly been dreadful. Unless we see the very idea of possession football, which is hardly some alien, out there concept, as a new one which LVG has remarkably introduced. Which isn't the case, especially when it's quite possible the next manager will ditch it for a new style. |
