When is the illegal gold mining going on in Zamfara and elsewhere in the North going to be talked about? Is what is sauce for the goose not sauce for the gander? No single Igbo person in the delegation! When is a similar delegation going to be sent to Zamfara by Tinubu? They create insurgency and mine the gold without any income accruing to the Federal Government, while the oil is shared generally. The South is cheated, while the Northern elite pocket the proceeds of gold. I don't blame those calling for dismemberment of Nigeria on account of the glaring injustice embedded in the fabrics of the country.

Is it possible for NNPC/FG to co-opt the operators of the illegal refineries? Regulate their operations to make sure it meets with environmental and industrial standards, offer them more training, give them allocation of crude and generally transfer them into modular refineries while taxing them. This if properly implemented will kill importation of petroleum products,ease the demands for foreign exchange occasioned by importation of fuel,boost the value of Naira,create jobs and provide taxes for the government. We need to think outside the box. As long as there's a demand for the petroleum products, these so-called illegal refineries cannot be entirely eradicated. They have come to stay. Best to co-opt them into the mix.

Guy was a fool. Typical Nigerian mentality of showing off to impress others. Deep seated insecurity manifesting in the craving for attention and applause. Meanwhile North Korean/Chinese/Russian cyber hackers cash out in hundreds of millions of U.S. dollars regularly and do everything possible to remain anonymous. This fool was all over social media flaunting his loot and mocking his victims/authorities while forgetting the authorities could use those same social media posts to determine his location...which was what happened. Unless he carefully hid some of his loot in Nigeria...he's definitely leaving jail penniless...after 20 years minimum.

Afghanistan: The Land of Endless Battles. Recently it was reported that the Americans left the Bagram Military Base in Kabul in the dead of the night without informing the Afghans. So to put it succinctly, the war weary Americans having lost thousands of soldiers and having spent one Trillion Dollars belatedly realised Afghanistan was a lost cause and couldn't bear to spend a day longer in the arid country.
If the Americans had bothered to read the history of Afghanistan before the invasion of 2001, they would have discovered that Afghanistan was a land soaked in blood and a land where foreign armies perish. The Pashtuns, Hazaras and other Afghan tribes do not countenance invasion by foreigners and would rather fight to the last man to resist foreign powers from dominating Afghanistan. The Persians, the British and the Soviets all left Afghanistan hurriedly after years of fighting between 1751- 1989.
Unfortunately for the Americans, they failed to learn the lessons of history and therefore were fated to repeat history.
After the loss of thousands of American soldiers and over one Trillion dollars down the rabbit hole and the Talibans arguably at the peak of their power now...the Americans cut and ran in the early hours of Friday July 2nd 2021as though pursued by a horde of demons from hell. Another unceremonious exit by a great power from Afghanistan...the Land of Endless battles.
