Phenomenalopeye: Ok sir thank you ❣️for the correction
I'm just a little boy bold, confident and enthusiastic. My classmates call me D'gun because I'm fearless, how I wish I could meet everyone on this thread in person, you'd definitely see that I'm confident, I'd say things without the fear of loosing, I'm a core member of the students representative council, where I fight for the comfort of my peers ! Impressive. Include it in your SOI. |

Phenomenalopeye: Thanks, for the correction bro, for now, I may be financially poor but I'm not intellectually poor thanks for the correction biggie!
No matter the circumstances I'm always ready to face it, I'm never giving up on my US dreams, with or without support! And all this doesn't affect me in any I'm always strong, and I'll always be. I attend classes sometimes with empty stomach but the grace of God has been always sufficient for me.
I'm not in any way negatively affected by the comment of any nairalander on this thread, if u should experience a week in life you'll definitely understand the challenges life posses to me!
I will always dream big, aim for the peak, so I can make it! "If you should experience a week in life you'll definitely understand the challenges life posses to me".In life? Which 'life' have you experienced at age16? There are people in their late 20s and 30s here, some reading this conversation and probably already considering approaching you to assist, yet you come here and consistently spill arrogant jargons. Please o, is it the same brain that wrote all this and the ones before that produced the so-called stellar academic performances, and that wants to be the next Elon Musk? I want to know. P.S.: The way you talk to people who you need help from is appalling man. You need to watch it. |

I have 2 FB accts one i created while I was in jss2 another I created in ss1 so I can simply change my FB name details, and upload a picture of my pastor, even if you want to meet me& pastor in person, i could come with him or even ask my dad's apprentice to come with me dressed like a pastor, I guess you'd ask for his certificate of baptism lol I don't think that's a good way to test authenticity, bro I'm ready to defend myself.
If u want to help me pls kindly do, ok I'm sorry let me ask if the college that admitted asked you sir, to prove the authenticity of your essays LORS and all that got you admitted pls will u gain admission?
I totally understand u though, the world is full of scammers and fake ppl. Pls if you want to help me kindly, if otherwise it's doesn't affect my future rather it's make me stronger more confident and bold. Is this one normal? |

I'm also looking forward to start my tech company, as a college start up the future "spaceX or Amazon with funds from either the lemelson program, MIT solve or MIT sandbox! As u can see they're tonnes of opportunities open unlike this place where u have to post a crazy video so u can win just 1million naira from DJ Cuppy. Wish you all the best bro. You will make it! |

Phenomenalopeye: Thanks ❣️ Sir, I totally understand you but my mind is made up, and besides I've got plan B, one of the main reasons of me wanting to study in the US is to explore the field of robotics. The interdisciplinary programs offered by US universities meets my needs, I'll design my curriculum to consist of 60% mechanical engineering, and 40% robotics.
I met students studying mechatronics here in Nigeria, I asked the how it is taught, all their response was pratical sessions are nothing to write home about, so tell me who would like waste 4 yrs studying without being able to build a functional robot, just only to code and program. Solve calculus learn CAD but no avenue to utilse your skills. Absolute waste of time and resources!!! Hello, brother. I sincerely admire your dogged determination and desire to get the best education in the US. I also sincerely pray it works out according to your desires. However, I also wish your seemingly fierce drive was based on both passion and reality. Some people here have been so good to give you a balanced reality check, yet your passion prevails still. It's amazing. Well, what I think is this: a lot of your hopes and aspirations are based on what you expect from people: this one promised you, that one assured you, this one will do this for you, etc. Can you afford to bank on just promises for a mission as critical as UG study in the US? Even if these promises and assurances are secure on paper, things can change quickly. COVID showed us this. Jobs have been lost, businesses have crumbled and those that are still standing are in damage-control mode. Can you afford to risk losing a national scholarship for your desires, without knowing how and where you'd land on the other side? Man, Nigeria is many crazy things but still there are a few local schools that can set you up for an amazing career in your field. Besides, if indeed you're as good as you say you are, then you can actually finish your studies on a high (via the local scholarship offer) and win a fully-funded masters scholarship to study anywhere in the world! Many people here who are in the US presently did their UG studies in Nigeria and they're cool. They didn't die, they didn't fail in their careers, and they're living their dreams. I really wish you had something more concrete on ground, other than a wish list. The fulfilment of these dreams is literally in the hands of people ...which, TBH, isn't good enough. Nonetheless, I sincerely do hope this happens for you in the end. MasterCard Foundation, Schwarzman Scholars, CSC and a couple of organizations have scholarships for UG students that you could look into. With your credentials, you should scale through. All the best! |

Friedpotato: What if the situation doesn't change before spring.
This stuff doesn't make any sense, when they can mandate masks and ensure social distancing.
The international travel excuse is sensible but the COVID one is somehow.
100 of thousands of people were on the street for George floyd, caboodle of them wore masks with zero social distancing. A recent research showed that the recent rise in COVID cases is not related to the protests held, so it's proven that masks do go a long way.
Maybe I'm just reasoning it like this cause I'm the one affected. I feel your point. I have my own analysis too; but unfortunately, how or what we think is inconsequential. They do not consult us before making their decisions. Ultimately, they will open when they deem it safe and convenient for their staff. Apparently, pressure from emails and Twitter isn't helping much. |

mvem: our case is relatively better than those European countries and western nations...it doesn't just make sense factually why we should be hindered only if they think that generally it isn't being handled generally...Africa as a whole accounts only 0.5% thereabout of the total deaths worldwide and about 1-3% of total case worldwide. We are generally doing better than other regions of the world for reason I can't really tell Our case appears relatively better than the countries in the west because we have a far lower testing capacity. Not fewer infections. Whether they factor this in or not is their decision. We can only hope for the best. |

fairheart: True, a public forum should stick to its goal, but that is rarely possible when people from different walks of life, of low and high exposure, are on the same forum. Although I didn't see any of the GRE arguments or participated in it, I think what sparked it must have been misinformation by students who didn't really understand how gaining admission in the US works. But maybe not.
People bring their little experiences on "US schools admission" to this thread and assume they are right. I think it's normal to educate them, and in doing so, the subject could create a stretchy thread.
Imagine someone up there quoting me that "everyone knows" that authentication of SOAs are required for issuance of i-20. When you overlook misinformation like this, you put other students (who take such information as fact) in unnecessary pressure and stress. It's one of the reasons someone like me still comes here. Do you know that a friend had to chat me up and ask for clarification, and I had to tell her she shouldn't bother herself. Sometimes, I wish to overlook some comments here, but then, I'd thought: "This needs to be corrected." We are all learning. You're right brother. Totally. Like @sonofakin noted earlier, as far as the arguments are constructive, they are welcome. In fact they are needed. People learn an awful lot here. But then, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, right? So why must someone take so much pain and effort just to try to establish the superiority of their opinion? And that, on a public forum. What happened to laying down your facts with evidence and allowing the people to learn and pick what is relevant for them, rather than debating and bickering? That's not an intelligent way to converse, I think? Especially seeing it is a public forum. This was my bone of contention. Thank you for your comments once again. |

sonofakin: People get a lot of information from here including how to get into schools. GRE is a process too. I agree that the discussion took a while. But IMO, such is needed sometimes, as long as the arguments are constructive. For me, I learnt a lot. What should people be talking about anyway, vetting transcript? Well said chief. The arguments were good, but became somewhat obnoxious when the parties involved started flexing knowledge muscles. Each one wanted to prove himself right. I doubt if a public forum like this is the best place for such. |

Predstan: You think your few admissions during this period of the Pandemic means schools will not go back to asking for GRE? my prayer for you is to get your Visa before the pandemic is over or you will have to go back and write the GRE and hopefully will not be required to provide vaccine evidence against the virus. Thats when you will know why these discussions are necessary. What does my getting a visa have to do with this? You're missing the point bros. Is discussing the GRE wrong? Absolutely not. This is the issue I had: Some folks began to bicker over the GRE, and at a point they obviously became so overwhelmed by the desire to prove the superiority of their opinions. But to what end? It took up 3 pages of unnecessary arguments! Now, should that be done on a public forum? That's the issue I'm tackling bro. Of course the GRE is essential, and schools/departments only temporarily suspended it due to covid. But people come here everyday hoping to hear about a new development regarding schools, visas, etc, not some prolonged personal arguments. As a reminder, the name of the thread is 'General USA Student Visa Enquiries' sir. And I pray the same prayers for you too. |
