By Arogbonlo Israel The 15th Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Otunba Gani Adams, has revealed reason for wearing white garments most of the time. He divulged this information during an exclusive interview with VanguardLive on Friday. “In 2001, people started telling me to be putting on white and I asked: why should I be wearing white when I have several other garments with multiple colours? Where will I go and put all these clothes?. “But things were not okay for me because I didn’t change my clothe to white not until 2004/5 when I decided to give a tailor about 30 different materials (all white) to sew for me. This was how I started wearing white,” he said. Recall Gani Adams was declared Aare Ona Kakanfo on October 14, 2017, and ever since he assumed office, he has been fighting for the freedom of the Yoruba Nation at large. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/03/iba-gani-adams-reveals-secret-behind-his-white-attire/

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been appointed the new chief of the World Trade Organization, becoming the first woman to ever lead the Switzerland-based institution and the first African citizen to take on the role. However, this is not the first time that Okonjo-Iweala makes history. Here are few interesting facts to know about the newly appointed WTO DG; Okonjo-Iweala was born in Ogwashi-Ukwu, Delta State, Nigeria where her father Professor Chukwuka Okonjo was the Obi (King) from the Obahai Royal Family of Ogwashi-Ukwu. Okonjo was educated at Queen's School, Enugu, St. Anne's School, Molete, Ibadan, and the International School Ibadan. She arrived in the US in 1973 as a teenager to study at Harvard University, graduating magna c** laude with an AB in Economics in 1976. In 1981, she earned her PhD in regional economics and development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a thesis titled Credit policy, rural financial markets, and Nigeria's agricultural development. Okonjo was the first woman to become Finance Minister of Nigeria, and first woman to serve in that office twice. In 2005, Euromoney named her global finance minister of the year. When serving as Nigeria’s finance minister, kidnappers demanded Okonjo-Iweala resign after taking her mother hostage. She has also been involved in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, being the African Union’s special envoy on the matter. Okonjo-Iweala has been a board member of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance — a public-private health partnership immunizing people in poorer countries. She is married to Ikemba Iweala, a neurosurgeon. The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, has lambasted Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed for supporting amnesty for bandits while justifying proscription for peaceful agitators. The Minister said bandits cannot be proscribed like the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, because of their lack of identity and affiliation to a group. Reacting, the group in a statement signed on Friday, by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful described Lai Mohammed's statement as "derogatory and disgraceful". The statement read apart; "The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by our great leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has noted with great amusement, statement credited to Mr Lai Mohammed, that he supports amnesty for bandits. Lai Mohammed should be ashamed of himself for advocating amnesty for murderous bandits but justifying proscription for peaceful agitators. "Lai Mohammed justified Nigeria's black market proscription of a peaceful movement like IPOB instead of bandits and other terrorist groups rampaging the North and ravaging the South. This is the height of hypocrisy! This latest statement by the Information Minister has confirmed our Leader's position that Nigeria is a nation with no leader. "Nigeria is in bed with terrorists but up in arms against innocent citizens agitating for freedom. IPOB never declared any war against Nigeria or her citizens yet it was unilaterally proscribed and banished by government. But bandits have been on killing spree of innocent Indigenous citizens of Nigeria yet the same government is seeking amnesty for the blood suckers. The Rivers state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to former minister Femi Fani-Kayode's meeting with some leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congres (APC). Rivers PDP publicity secretary, Sydney Tambari, on Tuesday, February 9, said the former aviation minister is free to defect, according to PUNCH report. Tambari said Fani-Kayode enjoys freedom of association, hence the reason his defection cannot come as a surprise. He, however, said the minister has not officially forwarded his resignation of PDP membership to the national leadership of the party. It would be recalled that Fani-Kayode on Monday, February 8, met with some APC leaders including Kogi state governor Yahaya Bello and Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state. The meeting has since been generating massive reactions with many suggesting that the controversial former minister may be plotting a return back to the ruling party. http://community.vanguardngr.com/forum/topics/pdp-declares-stance-on-fani-kayode-s-rumoured-defection-meeting

On September 16, 2020, President Muhammadu Buhari signed the Nigeria Police Force (Establishment) Bill into law. The law replaces its 1943 colonial antecedent which has regulated the Nigeria Police Force for 77 years with several provisions becoming obsolete over time. The Bill was passed by both chambers of the National Assembly by July 2020. The Nigeria Police Force (Establishment) Act 2020 seeks to provide for more efficiency in police service. By the provision of Section 18( of the Bill, it is expressly stated that every police officer shall, on recruitment or appointment, serve in the Nigeria Police Force for a period of 35 years or until he attains the age of 60 years, whichever is earlier. This provision thus prevents the extension of Police’s tenure of service. Also, Section 215 of 1999 constitution as amended doesn’t give room for extension of service of the Inspector-General of Police, the President can only appoint but no where in the law he is asked to extend tenure of service. However, there are rising discontents in the Nigeria Police over President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent extension of the tenure of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, whose has been long due to leave office since February 1, 2021. By implication, President Buhari’s decision poses a contravention to the provisions of the Police Act 2020, which in Section 7 (6), fixes a single term of four years without an option of extension of tenure for the holder of the office of the Inspector-General of Police. It reads: “A person appointed to the office of the Inspector-General of Police shall hold office for four years”, while Section 18 ( of the Act signed by President Muhammadu Buhari on September 15, 2020, states the length of service of a police officer thus; “Every police officer shall, on recruitment or appointment, serve in the police force for 35 years or until he attains the age of 60 years, whichever is earlier.”In addition, the extension of the tenure of the Inspector-General of Police may dampen the morale of the rank and file, particularly the morale of officers whose promotion might be stagnated due to lack of vacancies which the domino effect of the retirement would have created. You will recall that this is not the first time Mr. President will be extending the tenure of Inspector General of Police. In 2019, President Buhari approved six months extension of the years of the then Inspector General, Ibrahim Idris by prolonging his stay to June from the January retirement date, thus, retaining the IG for the 2019 general elections which begin in February. Judging by all these legal parameters, it’s unsound and unconstitutional on the part of Mr. President to extend IGP Adamu’s service without following the basic provisions of the law. What are his (Buhari) reasons for the extension? Why should we be pampering old wagons in the force when we have vibrant young officers with enthusiasm to take us to the promised land? Is this not a sense that the rule of law is no longer operational in the country? Many questions on my mind begging for answers but I can only wish Mr President come out bold to tell Nigerians why he made that decision without considering the implication on the Nigeria Police Force and the citizens by extension. A Texas, United States-based Nigerian econometric and social psychologist, Dr. Owen Hercules, has last year advised President Muhammadu Buhari against extending the tenure of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, beyond the statutory February 1, 2021, under the guise of reforming the force but now a futile call since Mr. President has decided to take the ‘horn by the bull’ by acting contrary to what the law says in this stance. For the best interest of Nigerians and to safe the institution of the Nigerian Police from extinction, Mr. President should give a second thought to his decision and ensure that the right thing is done. Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku on Wednesday, has asked Federal Government of Nigeria to allow all citizens own licensed guns in order to secure themselves, insisting that security has degenerated. The governor stated this when 15 Local Government Chairmen in the state paid him a condolence visit following the demise of one of their colleagues who was kidnapped and subsequently killed by gunmen. His words; "If one thing you do everyday is not working correctly then you should go find advise from somebody to tell you how you'll do it differently to get it correct. The Senior pastor of Awaiting The Second Coming Of Christ Ministry, Adewale Giwa says no pastor will have more than a car if men of God were to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. Giwa, who was addressing his members in Akure on Wednesday, expressed displeasure on how many Christians had been deceived by “prosperity gospel”. The cleric, however, described “prosperity sermon” as a false teaching from the pit of hell. He said, “The teachings of our Lord Jesus give us insights into how He wants us to live as His followers. “Many of us have deviated from these teachings today just because we want to be rich. Do you know that Nigeria has one of the richest pastors in the world? “Truth is bitter, but we must say it as it is that if all of us want to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, no pastor will have more than one car and a house. “It’s unfortunate that most of us have a series of cars, private jets, houses among others. Jesus said in the book of Matthew 6:3 that if someone gives to the poor, he or she should keep it secret. “How many pastors are following this teaching today? Also, in the book of Matthew 19:21, Jesus told the rich man to go sell all his possessions and follow him. “Some of us have different possessions today and we keep saying we want to be like Jesus; we are all fooling ourselves. Let me tell you, it is not easy to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. “Any pastor having two, three or four cars cannot claim he is following the paths of our Lord Jesus Christ. “Prosperity sermon is a false teaching from Lucifer. The devil offers riches, read Matthew 4:5-6 where Satan tempted Jesus Christ.” http://community.vanguardngr.com/forum/topics/prosperity-sermon-is-from-lucifer-pastors-owning-private-jets-two

By Arogbonlo Israel Sunday Igboho had last week issued a seven day ultimatum to Fulanis to leave Yorubaland after he stormed the Igangan residence of the Seriki Fulani noting that the Yorubas could no more bear being killed in their land by Fulanis. Here are few things to know about the Yoruba activist who led thousands of youths in a road walk against insecurity in Oyo, South-west of Nigeria; Sunday Igboho was born on October 10 in 1972. His real name is Sunday Adeyemo. He hails from Igboho town, located in the area of Oke Ogun, Oyo State. Later, the family left for Modakeke in Osun. After the war there, Sunday moved to Igboho. On how he got the nickname 'Igboho', the activist said that people in Yoruba Land tend to give other inhabitants the “names” due to the place they live in. His father was called “Baba Igboho” because he comes from Igboho. As a result, Sunday got the name “Sunday Omo Baba Igboho”. After Sunday’s father moved from Modakeke because of the war, people started calling him Sunday “Igboho”. This name stayed with him even after moving to Ibadan. The name of Sunday Igboho is widely known in the city of Ibadan. He is a politician and a businessman, whose attention is devoted to human problems and protection of their rights. Sunday’s career started from being a mechanic and a motorcycle repairer. But God had other plans for him. He guided Sunday into business and helped him meet the right people of great importance to do it well. Sunday Adeyemo truly believes in God. He advises people to keep their minds open.
