Seun Kuti after his arrest Seun Kuti after his arrest By Abiodun Sanusi Kindly share this story: The PUNCH has exclusively gathered that following the incident that led to the arrest and detention of Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti on Monday, the suspect had apologised and given the sum of ₦12,000 to the assaulted officer to repair his damaged vehicle on Saturday. Impeccable sources privy to the incident confirmed the development to our correspondent on Monday, adding that the officer had trailed Seun Kuti to his Akin Osiyemi residence off Allen Avenue, Ikeja after the musician bashed his vehicle on the Third Mainland bridge. The Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, also confirmed to our correspondent in a phone call, that Seun Kuti apologised to the assaulted policeman and gave him the sum of ₦12,000 for vehicle repair. A source said, “Seun Kuti was the one that bashed the officer’s vehicle, and the policeman followed him to call his attention to it, but the musician alighted from his car and slapped the policeman as seen in the trending video. However, the officer reported the incident at the Police Command in Ikeja.” “The policeman was alone. After the altercation, he followed Seun Kuti to his home in Ikeja, and the musician apologised to the policeman and gave him ₦12,000 to repair his damaged vehicle. “But the officer reported the incident at the Area F Police Command in Ikeja, and deposited the ₦12,000 at the counter while he gave a written statement concerning the incident,” another source said. The PUNCH reports that Seun Kuti is currently being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department, popularly known as Panti, in Yaba, Lagos State, following a visit to the FCID over the alleged assault. The musician was accompanied by a lawyer representing Falana and Falana Chambers, the law firm of popular human rights activist, Femi Falana, SAN. Our correspondent exclusively obtained a video clip and pictures showing the musician in handcuffs while being paraded by police officers at the SCID, Lagos. Responding to an inquiry concerning Ṣeun’s apology and monetary tip, in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said Seun Kuti had on Saturday apologised to the assaulted policeman and given him the sum of ₦12,000 for vehicle repair. Hundeyin said, “Although the investigation is still ongoing, but your correspondence is correct. Seun Kuti apologized to the officer on Saturday, and gave him ₦12,000 to repair his damaged vehicle, after the officer followed him to his house in Ikeja after the altercation. “Fortunately, the policeman had earlier reported the incident at the Area F Police Command, and deposited the ₦12,000 with the Command, before the video of the assault went viral on social media.” The PUNCH reported that the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba had earlier ordered the arrest of the musician. The IG equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the alleged assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly. Related News Assault: Policeman provoked Seun, says manager UPDATED: Seun Kuti arrested, detained over alleged assault Assault: Seun Kuti detained, handcuffed, grilled by police This was as the musician alleged attempted murder of himself and his family by the police officer in question, in a social media post obtained by our correspondent on Saturday night. However, following the IG’s order for his arrest, Mr. Kuti in another Instagram post, said, “I welcome the investigation and will give my full cooperation! I also pray to the IG that whoever is wrong should be indicted.” This was as the Police Service Commission demands the immediate prosecution of the musician, adding that no one has the right to assault a policeman in uniform and on official duty, no matter the offence committed by the police officer. Following the development, Falana, SAN, said the musician had sought his legal services, adding that Seun Kuti has evidence to defend his action. Falana said, “I am his lawyer and he has briefed me. He certainly has evidence. This is not the first time he is dealing with the police. “He (Seun) is going to report himself to the police tomorrow morning. There is no problem at all.” Musician risks three years imprisonment According to section 356 of the Nigerian Criminal Code Act, if found guilty of assault against the yet-to-be-named police officer, Ṣeun Kuti is liable to spend three years in prison. The Act reads,“ Anyone who assaults, resists, or willfully obstructs a police officer while acting in the execution of his duty, or any person acting in aid of a police officer while so acting is guilty of felony and is liable to imprisonment for three years.” The PUNCH reports that Kuti in a 12-second video clip which went viral on Saturday showed Kuti, who wore a red shirt and white pair of trousers, pushing a policeman, who stood beside a Toyota Hilux police van. He then proceeded to slap the cop, as he shouted, “You dey craze, you dey mad?” A motorist, who filmed the incident from his car, was heard saying, “Omo na Kuti o. Na better news be this o.” PSC demands musician’s prosecution The Police Service Commission has demanded the immediate prosecution of Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, over alleged assault on a police officer on the Third Mainland bridge in Lagos State on Saturday. The PSC Chairman, Dr. Solomon Arase, a retired Inspector-General of Police, said Seun’s arraignment would serve as a deterrent to other citizens, adding that no one has the right to assault a policeman in uniform and on official duty, no matter the offence committed by a police officer. |

Everyone who observes Nigeria knows there is a large body of religious people and self-confessed prophets who hear, or claim to hear, the voice of God in political affairs. The Nigerian who fascinates me in this regard is Moshood Ademola Fayemiwo, the Spiritual Head & Founder of The Jesus Christ Solution Centre in Texas, United States. Dr Fayemiwo is an excellent writer. In addition to his books, he pens a regular column at Nigeriaworld.com. He had written remarkably prescient forecasts about electoral contests in Nigeria for some years, and in mid-2021, turned his attention to Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election. The first of the two-part column, “Nigeria 2023: Who will be the seventh president of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria?” was published on June 21, 2021. The writer revealed what God told him about his plans for Nigeria in 2023, with comforting words about how the nation would flourish, within the context of exemplary leadership. “I have found a man in the land who will listen and obey Me. He will do all that I command him and change Nigeria for good forever,” are the words he said he received. To that end, Fayemiwo dismissed several presidential hopefuls, including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Atiku Abubakar, and Bukola Saraki. In the second part, he dismissed the hopes of one Bola Ahmed Tinubu. “If there is anyone who should be eminently qualified to govern Nigeria, Tinubu is!” he wrote. “But the True Lord God Almighty has rejected him as president of Nigeria for 2023. Why? “…First, Bolanle Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu has already [signed] a supernatural covenant or an agreement with a marine principality in Lagos State, Nigeria. Thus says the Lord: ‘Woe to that man who puts his trust in idols and demons… “The second reason came with another vision. Behold, we saw Bolanle Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu being declared the winner of the 2023 Presidential Election by INEC. There was despondency in the land and Nigerians gathered in clusters, some jubilating, some distraught and others pensively outrageous. Then, the swearing-in-ceremony of [Tinubu] was announced, and many dignitaries assembled. Senator Olusola Adeyeye (APC-Osun Central) was the Master of Ceremony. Suddenly, a mighty fireball appeared in the sky and fell and there was pandemonium.” “…Finally, and lastly, the Holy Spirit says, the hands of [Tinubu] are soiled with innocent blood…” So, who is the Nigerian who will restore and elevate Nigeria in 2023? Fayemiwo said he asked God the same question. “He bears my name, Emmanuel! He is Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, the current governor of Akwa Ibom State…I have chosen him to repair Nigeria’s broken walls. He will be there by My Power, Spirit and Strength. Under his leadership, Nigeria will change and change for better forever…” “…Now behold, this day and year 2023, I, the Lord God Almighty, the Creator of the heavens and earth and all that is in them, have made you–Udom Gabriel Emmanuel–a fortified city, an iron pillar in Nigeria, and bronze walls against the whole land and nation known as Nigeria–against all opponents, enemies, adversaries and traducers and all antagonists in Nigeria…So, do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” In April 2022, Fayemiwo announced that he had been appointed the Deputy Director-General of the Udom Gabriel Emmanuel Presidential Campaign Organisation 2023. Two significant things then followed. First, Atiku Abubakar, not Emmanuel, won the PDP primary. Udom was a distant fourth. On the APC side, Tinubu won the primary. Writing in June 2022, Fayemiwo responded to those jubilating in Nigeria that the former governor of Lagos State would become the next president. He declared, “This is not about me, but about what the Holy Spirit shows us. I don’t see Asiwaju Bolanle Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu of the APC winning the 2023 Presidential Election and being sworn in as president.” He warned, “A serious national crisis is about to occur that will shake Nigeria as a nation to its very foundation necessitating the intervention of the Nigerian military. This may lead the nation to an Interim National Government as our prophecies declare.” On the eve of the election in February 2023, Fayemiwo wrote that INEC would officially declare Tinubu to have won the election. “A lot of drama is in the offing and a state of national giddiness is coming, followed by a mini-revolution,” he said. “The remaining elections may not be held, and an [interim government] is coming…” Concerning the electoral commission and that “national giddiness,” he has been proved right, as Nigeria currently appears to be pregnant with something. But as the courts start to hear the election petitions tomorrow, is there a revolution and a coOn March 5, 2023, Fayemiwo published his boldest prophecies yet, headlined ‘The plots to murder President-Elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu and presaged world events’. The elements range from the poisoning of the “president-elect” to a military coup. The writer suggested that those prospects may have been why Tinubu left the country soon after he was declared the president-elect. “Thank God, [Tinubu] listened to God’s Voice and took to heart the prophecies we released in this column on Sunday, March 05, 2023…smart man, he acted accordingly and left the country. He must now do three things and be sworn in on Monday, May 29, 2023.” Smart man? President in three weeks? Thus, the prophet appears to have turned full circle from his prophecies of June 2021. Did Tinubu somehow subvert the will of God and overrun Udom’s destiny? On April 17, Fayemiwo exposed, “Why and how Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC won the 2023 Presidential Election,” portraying the APC candidate as having been very systematic and strategic in his approach. Tinubu, according to this account, had “ingeniously” chosen Kashim Shettima Mustapha as his running mate, thus winning the ethnic challenge. He had also shrewdly funnelled money to the Labour Party, thus baiting Peter Obi into the race and setting the stage for Atiku and Obi to neutralise each other, to his advantage. And Tinubu spent money deeply and widely, including in the United States where he cornered the consultancy of “the masters” such Barack Obama figures as David Axelrod, Daniel Howard Pfeiffer, and David Plouffe. Fayemiwo drew attention to Tinubu’s generous use of money at home, “including the families of Chief MKO Abiola for eight years” when he was governor, and even the family of the late Yinka Odumakin, perhaps his fiercest critic. “The capacity to forgive and embrace political prodigals is a distinguishing hallmark of a good and kind-hearted leader and Asiwaju is an example,” the writer allowed. Again, what happened? How did we move from “The True Lord God Almighty has rejected [Tinubu] as president of Nigeria for 2023,” to Tinubu being an example of a “good and kind-hearted leader” who listens to God? What about the June 2022 statement that Tinubu would not win or be sworn-in? Did the Lord change his mind about Tinubu? If so, when and why? Or has he not? What about Udom Emmanuel of “this day and year 2023?” How do we identify true prophets? |

You better get a life and stop jumping on every Tinubu thread, he was congratulated by many Western leaders. Who's dragging him at home? Pigs? Idiots? Sore losers? Guy you really need to get sense this 2023 Asgard13: |
The more I come across your comments, the more I realise how dumb you are, the reigning line for you guys now is stolen mandate, trying to give yourselves false hope. After the Supreme Court verdict, the next line will be "Our judiciary has been raped" Shioor, bunch of pained and sore losers. If you continue like this, you will end up reducing your life span because it's obvious u are heartbroken and u will remain heartbroken for the next four years Asgard13: |

Ode...did u believe Jubril from Sudan or not? [Qquote author=Lashist post=117750624] Nope...your fellow urchin is already spewing conspiracies about Peter being the head of bandits since he met gumi. I'm sure an idiot like you will say Pitobi is also a bandit carrying guns in the forest. But I want to remind you that you can't create such conspiracies and ignore the fact that a northern politician said shettima is the founder of boko haram. Nobody create that story but it's a northern politician that said that. Don't sound very stupid because you want to force yourself to make sense [/quote] |
That's why he said Zombies hate logic and truth, y'all just believe in conspiracy theories and unverified claims ( set awon Jubril from Sudan ) Lashist: |

Typical of a PO supporter, u want to stupidly pick on him because he made a mistake even Peter Obi himself can make. Mockery, insult, ignorance, clout chasing... that's what u dumb lots are good at Oziens: |
You are still being dumb! My point is why are u guys clamoring for a Kwankwaso alliance when u know he has a structure and can build a structure according to you. Now for the records, Obi can never get an international support, Buhari over the last seven years has acquired a wide range of international networks that is far from Obi's reach. It's funny when I read some absurd analysis here, some of you dont know anything about politics, u are only blinded by tribalism and only go along with the media clout Shioor OfoIgbo: |

How dumb can you guys just become? You were shouting all around that the people are Obi's structure, that he has support base everywhere, now why banking on Kwankwaso and the North? ENGINEERG:Your comment is baseless and senseless, point to where its stated in the Quran to attack or kill someone who insults the prophet rather there is a verse in the Quran where Allah mentioned an instance where the prophet was insulted (specifically he was called a mad man) by the unbelievers, the prophet's companion tried to attack the unbelievers but the prophet himself restrained them. Any sensible muslim knows Deborah's killing is not justifiable and the murderers should be apprehended. Most imams that led the jumat prayers across the country condemned the killing and further sensitized the congregation on the stance of the prophet himself when he was alive, Quran and hadith about the killing, but because this forum is filled with religious and tribal bigotry this kind of prejudice is expected |
