They all have one vote
He thinks endorsements from celebrities means much. What do celebrities in general know about politics? Even at that, Tinubu also have his own share of endorsements.

They are also deluded that when they see people endorsing Tinubu they tell you those people are just there for his money.

When they see Tinubu's crowd, they tell you they were all paid.

But for Obi, all crowds and endorsements are organic.

The delusion is staggering.

You can never compare Tinubu with obi and atiku.

Imagine the arrogant hooligan you want to become the president of this country. The Nigerian National Anthem was going while Tinubu was putting his hand in his pocket. No respect for the country.
I said it. Everything for you guys is just based on populism, vibes and inshallah. These are the things that seem to matter to you more than character, Ideology, policies.

Atiku is far better than Tinubu. We don't need another Buhari pro max here in Nigeria. You and I know Tinubu is not going to win this election. It's obi or Atiku. Just watch and see.

Apc are not going to rule this country again. See where the put Nigeria now. From top to bottom.

Why do you prefer Atiku to Tinubu. I'm really curious.

Mkenya2019:
https://businessday.ng/politics/article/the-economist-editorial-endorses-peter-obi/

I have listen to Peter Obi - and he understands what Nigeria need economically. Nigeria if they elect old Tinubu will be remain where it is - under capture of few Dangotes - who have impoverished millions - with failed import substitutions - over-valued Naira (freely float it) with crazy arbitrage windows for the rich - and stupid fuel subsidy benefitting a tiny car owning middle class. Then of course finally dealing with electricity crisis. Then invest billions in security. Nigeria should not be spending 2B dollars on army of 300,000 soldiers.

"Obi talks of supporting business, freer trade, and getting a grip on Nigeria’s mounting debts. He diagnoses the country’s failings more precisely than his rivals, though he is not much better at explaining how he would fix them. His promises to scrap the staggeringly wasteful petrol subsidy and rationalise the central bank’s many exchange rates are echoed by his opponents."

Precisely things I have been talking about here in Nairaland for years.
1) End import substitution - allow free trade - dont enrich few manufacturers. Remove stupid import ban list/dollar support for xyz.
2) Freely float Naira - let Naira slide if it must - but have only one window for everyone. There are now four windows including black market rate double the official rate. Dangotes buy at 400 - normal Nigeria at backstreet for 800.
3) Fix electricity - by raising electricity prices and by metering to stop electricity theft - so the disco and generators get money to keep turbines turning - and fix electricity grids.
4) Fix security - by investing in police and army - welfare, and arms
5) Start investing in education & healthcare - esp in the north - make it free and complusory to go school.

4 and 5 - the money will come from ending fuel subsidy - that is 12b dollars - to be invested in security & education. Let the tiny car owning middle class cry - the gov owes the poor more in support - than middle and upper class who can stomach higher petrol prices by reducing a beer a day.

Nigeria will then emerge from the Zoo it's dug itself.
You definitely have not listened to Tinubu enough or learnt about his ideology ( a mix of Awolowo and Abiola). You just judge Tinubu instantly only by what you know of Buhari's Government and his party and I don't blame you for that.

All these things you listed there are not new things. Most candidates including Tinubu have promised to fix them but you all are just focussed on Obi.

I love Buhari's Government but Tinubu though a socio capitalist is not as conservative as Buhari. I can bet that.

But we all know that Peter Obi has no chance

Online nonsense does not translate to votes especially for a country like Nigeria.

Your best option at this point is Tinubu
Exactly. Whatever we do we must just ensure Atiku never gets there. I don't even care if Obi is president or whoever, I just don't want Atiku.
But then looking at Obi's chances e go be like film and miracle if Obi win because of the 25% requirement.

Obi really surprised me , at least with his high powerful online presence , I expect him to pull a difference. The number might not be enough to win the seat , but it will surely encourage him to try again.

2027 might be a lucky year
Constitutionally I don't see any pathway to victory for Obi.

In the North Central, Obi is only probably present in Benue and maybe Plateau.

In the North West, you may only probably hear more of Obi in Southern Kaduna.

In the North East, I believe he is probably almost completely absent.

There are 19 Northern states, in how many of those states can he get the required 25% votes? Nigeria is just too big and diverse.

Constitutionally, the president of Nigeria must get 25% in at least 24 states plus Abuja.

Vote Tinubu a Yoruba by blood to power . Enough of Fulani rule . Atiku and kwankwaso are Fulani by ethnicity.

I'm going to take a break from defending Nigeria for a while.
I don't understand what's going on. In my city in Jos , plateau state,
Muslims keep on taking the old notes while business owned by Christians are rejecting them.
I tried to buy indomie and egg today in my area but the money was rejected and the store owner advised me to take the money to a street close to us where there were some Muslims and whey would take it.

And I'm preparing to walk 20mintues to go buy it and come back from the Muslims.
My brother it's not about defending Nigeria. Where you see something you think is true, say it and defend it. It's your conviction (unless presented with superior facts or logic). Where you believe something is wrong, also say it.

I have always been a Buharist as everyone here who follow my post can also tell, and I even like this CBN policy but the fact that Emiefele and by extension Buhari (who is behind him) have failed to make quick decisions on how to tweak this policy to prevent it from affecting the poor, leaves less to be desired.

Ghana debt service to revenue is 40%.. wages and compensation takes another 40% of Ghana revenue.

So Ghana is highly in the limit of servicing it debt.

Kenya is doing 80% of debt servicing to revenue ... Wages and compensation takes another 60% of Kenya revenue...

So you have an even bigger problem than you know

I hope you get to learn the difference between debt to revenue and debt to GDP 🤣😂

If you're expecting a cabinet member to badmouth his govt, then you don't understand the politics in your country
Not to spoil anything in your nice convo with the Kenyan, but this is a quote from a recent article by Reuters.

"While 70% to 100% of the government revenue currently goes toward servicing the debt, the country's inflation has shot up to as much as 50% in November".

No , I am talking about mobile money. It is not only limited to mobile service as it transferable on any financial support. That is to say from from mobile wallet to your bank wallet or from your bank account to mobile wallet . Whatever ways . Any financial means is acceptable and possible. That is what we called financial inclusion . We are streamlining the used of money digitally even to the common man who only access to electronic is nokia 3310.
Now you are getting me confused. MTN MoMo/Mobile money, kini big deal?🙄

Digital financial inclusion is awesome but in a society that has almost 90 percent of her citizens as literate not Nigerian where majority trade informally and still prefer the old method of doing business , that is to say( physical cash swapping goods and services . That Fulani cow men don't care about your bank account , malla seeling roasted suya or sugar cane care less about your fucking transfer , the igbo man selling okirika ( old cloth) also careless about your digital money, nor those the Yoruba driver from ibadan to lages is interested in anything electronic cash. What he wants his money , his physical cash.

Nigeria should introduce it stage by stage , making it more attractive rather than making it completely compulsory. It is a serious problem in Nigeria . Many nigerians ain't informed. Go to the north you will be suprised . Some don't even know money can be taken thru machines .in Ghana , Your sim card automatically make you an holder of electronic account. So you received money on the same account you used to receive calls . The account is not subjected to internet as it can be carried out on simple SMS.
You are talking about MTN momo. MTN momo is already in Nigeria, not just MTN but Airtel and Glo are looking to expand their services using their wallets as well.
There are also lots of fintech in Nigeria working hard to make the best of this already coupled with the Enaira.

I just hope the whole exercise doesn't cut down Nigeria's GDP growth this year.
On the flip side, if we react to this appropriately, it would help us reap better from the already existing GDP and implement credit system quickly for low middle class and the poor in the future. It would also help widen the tax net faster than we ever imagined.
Government would also credit farmers in the future without middlemen.
Politics › Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by GeneralDae: 1:27pm On Feb 14, 2023
Obaaderemi2:
The introduction of the policy is more political than economical. If not I don't see the reason why the new and old notes could not exist side by side until the cbn finally mop up the old notes from circulation. Many businesses and traders are still not taking transfers and these are sellers of products and services people need, so the burden is on people to go and sleep at the ATMs to get cash. There's this attachment to cash out that would take time to eliminate or reduce if you want to avoid the kind of chaos you have concerning cash issues now. It's not as if the authorities don't know this but like I said the move is a calculated political move. The stupid man who calls himself a president has done this before in the 80s. In his mind he thinks he is fighting corruption.

Going cashless is not something you rush or force. It's an organic growth thing. People are already going cashless. I stand to be corrected, volume of online transfers in Nigeria is one of the highest in Africa.
Volume of online transfers is of course the highest in Africa, you are right on that.
This political angle to it is also a worthy point and what makes everything a bit more complex to be honest.
But if this is majorly to prevent vote buying as many think, then it has failed.
I get the angle you and many others are coming from in terms of the political underpinnings to it, I just focus mainly on the economic aspects to it for now.

A very poor student of economics I must say. Very wack president.

I wish Nigeria best of luck
There is nothing poor/terrible about implementing a cashlite policy . The naira redesign is not a bad policy, it just wasn't given enough preparation.
The CBN should have allowed Enaira and telcos get more rooted in rural areas before implementing the policy. Also a daily withdrawal of 50,000 naira notes would have been okay. Also, left to me I would redesign only 500 and 1000 naira notes leaving the 200 naira available.
If they can work around these cracked edges, I don't see how this is poor in economics.
It would be poor only if they don't adjust the policy but we all expect them to do so.
